oh, guardian of the written word, what is one book, one tv show and/or movie, and one fic you think more people should try?

Sure, ask the easy questions.

This is cheating a little bit on the book answer, but I think more people should be feral about Megan Whalen Turrner's Queen's Thief series. Just frothing at the mouth. It's basically all the titles under "Novels" at the link.

It starts in The Thief with Gen, a guttersnipe thief with a big mouth, given an unexpected ticket out of prison if he can help steal a god's treasure and use it to cement the king's power. And almost every word of that sentence is a lie. But you'll get used to that if you're going to hang out with Gen. The series takes place in a somewhat ancient-Mediterranean set of countries and gets deep in politics and war and betrayal and conflicting loyalties, but at the center of it all is Gen, the fulcrum upon which the gods have set a lever to move the fate of nations. I love this series so much that I spent over a hundred dollars on the first three books in fancy-ass hardcovers when they came up on FairyLoot.

The movie I think more people should know about because it's just campy and weird and delightfully fun is a period piece called Cold Comfort Farm. (The 1995 version; apparently there's a 1968 one that I haven't seen, both of them adapted from a 1932 novel.) Kate Beckinsale is a 1920s society girl, recently orphaned, who goes to live with country relatives and tidies up their lives. You've got your Ian McKellen, spittle flying as he preaches fire and brimstone. You've got your Rufus Sewell, fucking everything in sight (but not Kate because she finds him a tad bit ridiculous, but she still helps him get what he really wants). You've got your Stephen Fry mansplaining. Everyone is over the top and hysterically funny. And there was something nasty in the woodshed.

So this might be recency bias because I just (re)read them last month, but @melyzard's One Night Stand series is just. So. Good. It's an alternate first meeting where they run into each other on Jedha before its occupation by the Empire. Jyn is there because she's already with the Alliance and has come to collect recruits and turn them over her mysterious contact. She meets Cassian in the marketplace and they spend a day and a night together. Of course, you've already guessed who her contact is. Once they realize it too, they circle each other warily, trying to figure out what the other's game was/is. Then the Empire invades and they have to trust each other enough to avoid getting arrested, get their baby soldiers off-planet, and to safety. I love so many things about this but the best are a) the straight-up competency porn as they evade the Empire and b) the slow, tender building of trust between them. The sequel builds on both of those as it sends to them to the Ring of Kafrene. I know a lot of people have read this already because it's been around, but I still think more people should read it just because.

I have no clue when I started shipping these two? But it’s so random, oh my god- (Though surprisingly, not my most random ship. Wait until Day Four of Ninjago Valentine’s Week)

Summary: Griffin wants nothing more than to tell Neuro how he feels - it turns out, he doesn't have to.

Griffin wasn't the best with his feelings.

That fact on its own was really unsettling, but combine it with his crush on his best friend, and you've got chaos.

And man, was Neuro out of his league.

The two of them were basically polar opposites; Neuro was smart, Griffin was not. Neuro owned at least a hundred books, while Griffin prefered to run around the neighbourhood. Neuro considered him his friend, and Griffin… He thought of Neuro as something different.

At least he was good at playing pretend.

The train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell in the house. Griffin jumped and rushed to the door, not wasting a second waiting before opening it.

He couldn't say he was surprised to see Neuro on his doorstep. He was expecting him after all. Yet, his heart seemed to go have forgtten, because it was beating super fast.

"Good evening," Neuro said with a tiny, yet clearly visible, smile on his face, and waved for just a second.

"Hey!" Griffin grinned. "Come in, man!"

"Thank you," Neuro said, stepping in the house and closing the door behind him. "Living room, I'm guessing?"

Griffin nodded. "You know it!"

The master of mind took off his shoes and left them next to the door before walking further into the apartment. Griffin's place wasn't big, but it was enough. He lived in the outskirts of Ninjago City, in a small apartment, and was lucky enough to have even found a place there.

Once they reached the living room, Griffin chose the edge of the couch to sit on, and Neuro sat next to him, their legs almost touching.

Griffin would have chosen the chair had he remembered of Neuro's tendacy to sit uncomfortably close to him. Well, uncomfortably wasn't quite the right word.

It was only that Griffin's heart was basically begging to leave his body, and he had no way of keeping it together.

"So I was reading this book, 'The Element of the City', and the protagonist reminded me of you."

The master of speed didn't know whether to take it as a compliment. He himself rarely read books, but Neuro practically lived in the library, and books meant a lot to him.

"Well, I've seen the movie!" Griffin said, earning an eye-roll from Neuro.

"Of course you have," he said.

"Oh come on, it's not that bad," Griffin crossed his arms. "I bet you'd like it."

"Would not."

"You would!" Griffin insisted. "Let's make a deal."

Neuro raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"We'll watch the movie, and if you don't like it, I'm going to read the book," the master of speed said confidently. "But, if you do end up liking it, we're going to read one of my comics together."

Neuro huffed, rolling his eyes. "Oh, I'm in."

The movie wasn't as good as Griffin remembered it to be.

The actors looked as if they didn't know what was happening most of the time, and according to Neuro, the second half of the film was the exact opposite of what had happened in the book. At least the visual effects were good enough.

If Griffin were honest though, he hadn't been paying attention to the movie.

It was at moments when Neuro would let go of a chuckle, or become very invested in the film, that he turned ten times more adorable than usual. There weren't many times that Griffin got to see him like that, and so he found himself staring.

He just hoped Neuro didn't notice.

"So…" Griffin cleared his throat. "What'd you think?"

"In all honesty?" Neuro asked, then laughed. "It was horrible."

Griffin nodded slowly, letting go of a sigh. "Yeaaaah, I thought you'd say that."

He looked up at the master of mind, who had a bright smile planted on his face. Griffin didn't need mind powers to know that he had had fun, regardless of how terrible the production of the movie was.

He wanted nothing more than to lean on his shoulder, and have him hold him close and tight, and just stay in his arms forever. He wanted to go out with their friends and hold hands, and tell them that 'Hey! That's my boyfriend!'. He just wanted to tell him how he felt so badly, to show him his love, and to-

"I'd… Like that."

"What?"

"Oh. I wasn't supposed to listen to that. Right…"

It took only three seconds for the gears in Griffin's mind to turn; He was daydreaming about Neuro. Neuro was the master of mind. Neuro had heard all that.

Griffin wanted to bang his head on the coffee table, yet one thing that Neuro had said snapped him out of his desire.

I'd like that.

"You… You'd wanna do all that? With me?" Griffin asked, trying to supress the sound his heart made.

Neuro nodded. "I've… Felt that way for a very long time now, so…"

Griffin was floating.

"Then would you like…" to be my boyfriend.

"Not until you say it out loud."

"Neuro!"

Neuro chuckled, hitting Griffin's shoulder playfully. "Of course I'll be your boyfriend."

Griffin was floating.

"Awesome!" Griffin said, instantly facepalming himself. "I can't believe I just said awesome."

An arm wrapped around his shoulder, making Griffin freeze. "Things like that are part of the reason I like you."

"Oh." Griffin chuckled. "Then, I- Well… I…"

"I believe you owe me something."

Griffin gasped, snapping out of his shock. "The movie was terrible, but you enjoyed it! I believe you owe me!"

Neuro shook his head, pulling Griffin closer. "It can wait."

The master of speed smiled, snuggling on his chest.

It could wait.

8: Where do you take your inspiration from?

I pull inspiration from music a lot. If I have the right playlist I can write non-stop. That being said, I also daydream up fic scenarios every day during my 4 hour commute to and from school lol.

12: Who is your favorite character to write for? Why?

I really like writing Lucifer. His character just comes naturally to me. I feel like I can sympathize with him a lot. Also, he’s just a really deep fun character to write imo.

17: Post a line from a WIP you’re working on.

The last thing I worked on was the Red Queen AU, because Tad just finished the books and I still owe them a sneak peak scene that I’m writing now lol. Here goes:

He always ran a fever not because he was hot-blooded, or because he had a light flu, but because he was an eternal flame, an undying beacon of light.

(I really love that fic! I’m excited to post it)

The Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes  dream cast

 since we re getting an adaptation fo the book i decided to put my opinion on who should play the caracters in this book.

The hunger games is a franchies that is very close to my heart so i was really exited when the anouncement of this book came out, i do think it will be a very hard book to put in the big screen since is a book that is more  psychological and reflexive than the original trilogy.

None the less i do want to see it in the big screen.So this are my pics for the cast.

Coriolanus Snow

My first choice is Lucky Blue Smith, i know he is not really and actor but i think he is the perfect live representation of snow and maybe with some acting clases or traning he could pull off this role and plus he is really young so it fits the caracter perfectly.

My second choice is Cody Fern and i know that he is kinda... old to play Snow, but if you have seen this guy before especially in American Horror Story you know YOU KNOW that he is and acting genius specially for that creepy dude vibe but also really attractive and sympathetic at the same time, that with time starts becoming evil and almost hateful and this guy has range, he is really versatilie 

He is just perfect for this role and with the right co-star it would be amazing seeing him as Snow.

Lucy Gray

So i know a lot of people want to see a WOC as Lucy and belive me i would love to see it too, but then i saw this girl Mahia Wain who did her own interpretation of the songs in the book and she is perfect, she really is, she’s got that cute but also firce and talented vibe that Lucy has and it is perfect. 

(also if you got the time chack her videos out, her voice is amazing and she has done an amazing job on bringing the songs in the book to life) 

Sejanus Plinth

First choice for Sejanus is Nick Robinson, he is the tipe of guy who can play a really sweet caracter but also give it deepth and emotion and also  a beautiful and melancolic  sadness.

OK so this guy, I can confidently say that we all know this amazing person, and he would also be soo good playing Sejanus i just didnt put him first beacause i do know that he has a really busy schedule and it would be really difficut for him and i cant beive im just about to say this because he is perfect but, heistooshort, there i said it and im never saying it again in my entire life.

But yeah he is soo perfect for this role it would be mazing to see him in a franchise like this one.

Clemensia Dovecote

Tati Gabrielle is PERFECT for Clemensia, i do know that many people see picture Clemensia white, but Tati Gabrielle has that icyness and sass and just an amazing obtion over all.

So i chose Sophie Turrner not only beacuse she is super talented but i also needed someone that looked like Snow since she is his cousin, and she has that high cheeckbone look and that blonde blue eye look that the Snows have and yeah she is perfect.

So yeah, this is my opinion and i woud love to  hear if your opinons about it.

We are excited to announce the winner of our Bridal Competition Helen Turrner!!! Helen was invited to the studio to meet the HEMYCA team and to choose her dress. Here is the beginning of her story...

"I stumbled across HEMYCA by chance when I saw a few of their bespoke dresses they had made for clients while looking for dress ideas for our blessing in late 2019. We have been married 23 years and decided after a few changes in our life to reaffirm our vows. When I got the Email congratulating me on winning a bridal gown I was in total disbelief, I felt so happy it was like walking on air, my mind racing with the thought of the dress and our big day. I was invited to the studio in London to meet Myra, the designer, and the team. For some reason I was now nervous but that was just about to all change. On entering the office I was met by Myra with a beaming smile (you don't get that from a boutique in the high street). That's when I knew this was going to be a whole new experience. We chatted for a while talking about the plans for the big day, the venue, the reception and what kind of theme we were aiming for and most importantly, how the dress would interact not only with me but also my surroundings. Then I got to see the Bridal Collection…

"The collection is like a small clutch of little pearls in a sea of old traditional norms that we find in most bridal shops. Ten styles to suite the modern, strong individual woman. Bold lines with strong details all with a graceful elegance. I was really taken aback by the subtle details like that of Goldiethat has a mix of satin, leather and lace, its a real stand out gown. The lovely satin Sophia dress that deserves to be worn by a Greek goddess is just beautiful in its simplicity. The collection really is all about details from capped sleeves with feathers on Florence to the Marguerite gown that is beyond words and really needs to be seen, it is just so modern, edgy and strong yet wonderfully feminine."

Just... I can't. They're both great. I've spoken to Lizzie the most, but I still love both of their blogs and I think they're both really amazing people. Definitely two of my favourite blogs, even if Lizzie and I clearly have very different tastes in music.
