Get the pattern on my Etsy, RoseOfMayGreece! https://roseofmaygreece.etsy.com/listing/1890810476
A pirate mandala to hang on your wall in a round frame or hoop, decorate a table or use as an applique on clothes. The pattern is neatly separated in 5 parts, worked in the round, inside to outside.
• It can be made using any colors you like.
• Written in US terms.
• There are very detailed photo instructions of every step.
• Pattern is made by me after many hours of work, please don't use for profit by reselling the pattern itself or making videos of it. I would also love and appreciate if you tagged me in any finished items you make, a little tagging goes a long way! <3 ig:roseofmaygr

yarn mandala
Tumblr media
this is my current project: It is only half done, I will post the steps too.
it's based on a kloketen creationes video:
youtube
is using Himagurumi, a 50% cotton 50% acrylic yarn by Himalaya (Turkish company), and it was created with amigurumi in mind, but they are awesome for this too. I will try crocheting something from them too, and post that as well. I just got my ordered stash last week, and I am experimenting with the colors.
Did I mention they have a great selection of colors?

Affinity Designer Tutorial - Create and Colour a Line Art Mandala This video tutorial was a request in a social media group [way too long ago] but I decided to finish the edit and narration nevertheless and show how to design and colour a mandala design based on vector lines and tapered strokes. In this video, I use symbols, the pencil tool, tapered strokes, and circles to quickly design the lineart of the mandala. I then take two different approaches to colour the design. Using more symbols and placing coloured shapes below the lineart is one. The vector flood fill tool in v2 is another. Either way, it's a quick and easy process to create complex-looking designs. Enjoy!

Five years ago I thought it would be a neat idea to try and make my favourite trinket of all time (3D wire mandala). So I found myself some copper wire, beads, a set of pliers and began tinkering. 5 years later, I make these wonderful multi-purpose pieces for lovely people all over the world full-time, and I couldn't be happier.
The ingredients for making a 3D wire mandala:
122.5 inches of electroplated copper wire (gold, silver, black)
14 funky beads (8mm size)
7 pieces of banding wire (22 gauge)
A one step looper and bent-nose pliers
and a lot of patience.. XD The next step in my small shop journey is to transition from selling on Etsy to my own website. Don't get me wrong, Etsy has been amazing for me as someone who wanted to open their own handmade shop but didn't know where to start, however, it is now time for me to spread my wings and (hopefully) fly. fingers crossed
Use code TUMBLR at checkout for a special discount just for discovering my work on here! PLUS checkout using PayPal and receive a FREE Spring Bloom Orbi-Loop with your purchase. (yes, I ship worldwide too!) Finally, don't forget to follow me as I am preparing a full-fledge tutorial (for free) to teach others how to make this on their own! It'lI be such a fun at-home craft project that I hope others will enjoy as much as I do!
PS: Sorry if this isn't blaze worthy. Just had a few extra credits available from Tumblr.
PPS: Style in video is Purple Nova (silver wire/standard size)

yarn mandala part 1
So yarn mandalas.
I have a couple of them ready, I completely forgot to document them (it would be useful for later) I experimented with different yarns, this is a very nice stash buster. Here is the 3 I created with an acrylic yarn (I still don't understand the yarn thickness thing. I have to always figure it out by needle size...) this one is ~ for size 5 crochet needle.
Tumblr media
All of these are based on the awesome videos by kloketen creationes
Check her channel out. The videos are in Spanish, but the English subs are workable, and she creates very good tutorials, they are easy to follow. (the only thing is to always check if you cut off enough yarn when you have to - I usually slow it down and count her rounds before doing it. this will make sense i promise)
This was based on:
youtube
It was fairly easy as these go. For this you need two sticks (I've found some bamboo ones somewhere in a shop. they are slightly too thick - which means sturdy, but very slightly modifies the tension, and sometimes even the pattern)
I am fairly satisfied with the results. :)
The last thing I am not certain about is calling these Ojo de Dios - eye of God, as far as I understand it is a custom in Mexico, Peru and other Central American cultures to commemorate the growing up of a child.
She uses the term though, and for now I will include it to give a little chance for people who are searching for patterns.

"You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath" - lyrics from 'All too well' by Taylor Swift
Tumblr media
Yay, I went on another side quest.
I wanted to draw something that vibed with those song lyrics and I stumbled upon a tutorial for a whimsical scene with a stained glass window.
In the tutorial the procreate drawing assistant was used to create a mandala with random shapes that would become the window, and it looked really pretty. But it didn't feel right to me in the context of my own drawing, I am by no means a history expert but I want to at least maintain the accuracy I am capable of so I did some research on medieval church windows and basically created my own Althred-themed version.
I'm pretty happy with how it came out, especially with the lighting and the colours.
And the bois look so pretty.
