The Villains of Valley View - Trust No One

Happy 30th anniversary to Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers! Thirty years ago today, the Power Rangers franchise debuted in the United States and was an instant hit. The series was originally a Japanese one titled Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. All the footage of the Rangers in their armor, along with any shots of the Zords, battles (yep they used actual cardboard building props for those scenes), and villains is from the original Japanese series (any "monsters" received an English dub). The series was so popular here in the U.S. that Japan began showing it there - with subtitles! Yes, their original material was such a hit that the host country bought the rights to show it there!

Oh, and fun fact - ever notice how only the Pink Ranger has a skirt on her armor? That's because in the original Japanese version, there is only one girl Ranger - the pink one. The Yellow Ranger was a male in the original version, which is why there is no skirt with the armor.

Another fun fact - the Command Center? It's a real place! It's called House of the Book and is located on the American Jewish University's Brandeis-Bardin Campus in Simi Valley, California. So the exterior shots of the Command Center are of an actual building. How cool is that?!

To commemorate this milestone, I dug out some of my most valued possessions. I've had these three dolls since the series was still live on TV. They were literally made for girls, as depicted on their boxes (and only the girls were made, not the guys). These fashion dolls are about the size of a Skipper doll now, and each one came with her respective uniform and a blasting gun, as well as an extra set of clothes for school/everyday wear. All three girls were made - Kimberly, Trini, and Aisha. I was fortunate enough to get Trini before she was replaced by Aisha in the series. RIP to Trini's actress, Thuy Trang, who was sadly killed in a car accident in 2001. (And also RIP to our beloved Green/White Ranger, Jason David Frank, who died just last year).

So I dug the three of them out and got some photos. Kimberly and Trini will remain in their uniforms because it is very difficult to get those boots and gloves back on once they've been taken off. I opted to leave Aisha in her school clothes since there are two Yellow Rangers. Here they are in all their glory! Go, go, Power Rangers!

Was watching the Wizards Return TV special and there’s a moment where Alex says that her best friend Harper is the only one who accepts Alex for Alex and doesn’t shame her to be someone else while her boyfriend is right there. And I was thinking, so we have a main magical girl who has a furry boyfriend that is generically handsome, violently jealous, and insecure about their relationship. Is this why young adults latched onto the lovesquare so easily?

Think about it. Wizards was a very popular show, so much that the series finale had ratings of 10 million viewers. And Malex was the series biggest ship that despite their numerous toxic breakups they were endgame. Alex vs Alex came out 2013 and left a void in our hearts. In 2015 Miraculous Ladybug premiered and became extremely popular. Coincidence? I think not. But don’t watch Miraculous Ladybug, if you want a show that feels like Wizards watch Villains of Valley View.

i love your ideas!!!! tbh i kept expecting cyd's parents to show up at some point during s2 lol i haven't seen the show in a while, so i don't remember a lot of specific things i would want to develop on, but i definitely think it would be very on brand for the writers to make daisy not getting married have consequences in the present. i'm also very against naldo and cyd together that relationship came so out of left field like ??? anyway are there any other shows that you liked that you wish had more seasons (or less? lol idk)? what are your all time favorite disney shows, other than bfw? - gcwca secret santa

the owl house for SURE should've had more seasons. i will die mad about their shortened last season. we could've had so much more </3 i've also heard that i didn't do it got shafted but even tho it's been on my watch list for ages i haven't gotten around to it so i can neither confirm nor deny bc i am bad at watching tv

my fave disney channel shows aside from bfw are girl meets world (ik it is. the way it is. (the communism episode!) but i had a good time watching it even if i think i would enjoy it way less on a rewatch yknow?), backstage (ik it technically just aired on disney but i really liked it! i even started some fanfic back when i watched it), gravity falls, the owl house, and i've been really loving villains of valley view !! i also remember really liking wizards of waverly place as a kid but i haven't seen it since then. i def feel like i'm forgetting some shows but who knows [shrug emoji].

my comfort movies are the high school musical movies for sure!! i just rewatched them to make my sharpay set and they just make me so happy!! i rewatched austin & ally this year and i also rewatched phineas and ferb this summer! but yeah i think those are my main comfort disney channel favorites that i will and probably rewatch every year! i'm actually in the middle of a sonny with a chance/so random rewatch since i forgot a lot i feel like! so that's been fun!! as for this year, i loved the villains of valley view, hailey's on it, the secrets of sulpher springs and prom pact!! and next year i think the new descendants movie is coming?? so i'm very excited for that!!

Walking in Each Other's Boots Prologue: The Swap

When Vic had announced to the family (and hartley) that he created a machine to swap the taste of foods around, they had all had a great time with it:

Pizza flavored cake

Cake flavored Pizza

Cinnamon flavored cheese

Strawberry flavored hotdogs

And many more

The fun continued when they began pranking each other with Bean-Bozle-themed food. Eva had drawn the line, though, when Vic switched the taste of her morning coffee with the taste of a sewer grate. The tension in the house had been palpable, so when her mother gave Amy the device in the middle of the night and told her to bring it to the local junkyard, she gladly obliged.

As Amy walked to the junkyard, feelings and emotions from her previous visit welled up inside of her. She had forgiven Jake and Hartley, but her hatred for Starling had only grown stronger.

By the time Amy arrived at the junkyard, she was ready to be over with the debacle, but she knew that she needed to hide the swapping device, not just throw it into one of the piles.

After searching for a few minutes, Amy spots a microwave on top of a pile in the corner of the yard. It would be the perfect place to hide the device. As she begins pulling herself onto the pile of trash the microwave rests on top of, she hears the crunch of boots landing on the gravel behind her. Despite her unsteady footing, Amy whips around to see Starling standing there.

"What are you doing here!"

"What are you doing here?"

Neither of them was willing to answer the other.

"I'm not going to let you get away. I know it was you who flipped the bus over!" Starling shouts.

Amy rolls her eyes at the hero's confidence despite her stupidity. "I had nothing to do with that. It was all Jake, the power outage, on the other hand…."

"That was you?" Starling interrupts, "We thought that was just the crapy Texas power grid. I'm, gonna have to report that."

"Do you need a minute to tell your fellow heroes how stupid you are?" Amy asks as she lazily leans against the trash pile. "Cause I'm willing to wait."

"No, I'll kill two birds with one stone. Reporting the mistake and bringing you in!" With this, Starling launches an attack at Amy. As she leaps out of the way of the blast, her shifting weight causes the precariously stacked pile of trash under her topples.

As Amy falls to the ground, the swapping device sails out of her hand and straight at Starling. The hero's fight or flight instinct kicks in, and she sends another blast hurtling toward the device. As the two connect, an explosion rings through the junkyard, and Starling and Amy are thrown into different corners of the yard. As they sail toward the ground, they simultaneously get hit by a second wave and slam into the ground head-first.
