also, short words on charles because he's the only character we see cry a lot and that was sooo nice given that he's trying not to reproduce cycles of violence and oppression. he's trying to be different from all the men he grew up around (he even states it, "i wanted them to be nice/different" about the 2 jocks who turned out to be exactly what everyone assumed they were). he's aware of his status in society and tries to reject the rights it gives him. but it's done in a way that makes him responsible for his own change and for defining what it means to be a man, and he doesn't rely on the women around him to fix him. i really appreciated this, it's such a relief.

larissa weems’ death is just one of those character deaths that you physically cannot get over. its been 2 years and i still don’t believe that she isnt coming back. 🙁

i love that to heal from her trauma, induced by a man (demon but whatever the metaphor for patriarchy was really nicely crafted), crystal has to get back in touch with her ancestors and find support in the stories of past women. it was an amazing choice to write it this way. she was the one who could heal herself, and it's finding support in women that led her to find her own strength.

honestly women's storylines were super well handled in the show, and didn't have to depend on men. both crystal and niko existed as individuals outside of their counterparts, which is very refreshing.
