Yeah, they deserve that. No thorns, only roses.
(I started drawing this right after I saw those tags, so thanks for the idea @ashyronfire)

Permission to Fear
Oh praise the lord, I am so glad I’m done with this one, I don’t think I can stand to look at it any more.
So, As most of you all know: I have Trypophobia.
(It’s a fear of clusters of holes/dots or something. It gets triggered by some patterns too.)
I saw the word on the list and I was like “Oh snap. Welp. Panic attack, here I come!”
I ended drawing my phobias, along with some words I fear, such as “Unloved” or “Useless”.
Also, don’t mind the spikey thing, that was supposed to be a flower with like a vine reaching out, covered in more flowers, but I apparently can’t draw flowers, so that’s what you’re getting.
I hoped this would help me with my fears, but it didn’t do much, other than give me a headache, and make me feel a bit sick. So I’m sorry if it’s not the best quality ever lol

Growing Pains
( @xxvernalagniaxx ) Rum and sake were common for offerings for the “unseens”, as experience had told him. It depended on the country, and sometimes down to the individual; while offerings to the deceased were never consumed. While he couldn’t give a proper reason, Yasuhiro believed the act disrespectful. Paradoxical as it was, he had his limits. There were different ways to deal with godly offerings; some didn’t mind them being buried or taken by the elements, others preferred that the offering be consumed by humans or animals, so that they could enjoy the experience. Disposal, in some cases, may have even depended on what the purpose of communing with them was. Certainly, deities could be fickle in their preferences! In many ways, it was like waltzing through landmines--only instead of being blown up, one could be cursed into a fate worse than death. For him, this time goal was personal. Deeply so. Sloth-like as he was, he began pushing himself towards his own self-betterment. Victory over oneself? Within human grasp-- some divine intervention would be a bonus, and that was Yasuhiro’s aim.
Two statuettes made their presence known on an altar in his bedroom. Paranoid clutter and spartan serenity, they’ve seen both in Yasuhiro’s hole in the wall. No matter the season, they’ve never known dust. Only food, drink, prayer and drowsy regrets he couldn’t remember speaking. As soon as he moved in and got them, they were the closest thing he knew to companions save for the weathering stone hanging over his balcony. A warrior and protectress who reveled in gore galore and appreciated her wine. He knew he wouldn’t have to do anything illegal--well, nothing that’d require a wellness check or jail time. On his altar, she stood on the left, tongue lolling with the head of an enemy proudly displayed in one of her hands. Adorning her, a necklace of skulls covered her supple breasts. Severed hands lined her waist. On the right sat a pensive, pot-bellied elephant with a broken tusk. His smiling gaze held a approachable warmth that extended to a pair of outstretched human hands. He preferred his sweets, as could be seen by the sculpted around around him. A dutiful son, and a destroyer of obstacles. Between them, he found a compromise for his task. For once, he could start to feel his grandmother’s knowledge working its way into the fabric, crude as his ringlets were to place at each statuette’s feet: white roses, shepherd's purse, poinsettias, yellow poppies, and red hibiscuses for good measure. Aizu had been poured out, and with it, a small chunk of his savings. He spent his idle time buried in books, bought fabric, beads and glue. A small plate for grilling in his tiny kitchen. If he wasn’t fully engrossed in work, he’d drilled flowery imagery in his head as he’d done once before. Between clients and homework? A little snip here. A tied bead there over. Day in and out, he weaved the fabric flowers with the beads. Honey-grilled pineapple slices seasoned with a savory cinnamon-lavender rub; they, too, matched the skill of his flowers as much as he found disappointment with their rough shapes. With the most arduous part out of the way, all what was left to do was sleep off the day and recover from the toils of the day. He’d been convinced that today had stretched on long enough to spite him, and the light pounding in his head told him not to press his luck any further.

Hai!! I was wondering where you learn all of these meanings? I'm writing a story where the main character has Anthophobia and I would love to learn these meanings without having to ask about the flower arrangements every five pages 😂 I love what you guys are doing and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Hey darkllamafest,
sure can do, we’ve previously answered this question twice, once for each Mod. So here’s Mod Den’s answer and here’s the one I wrote. Mod Den’s answer also contains links to resources about Hanakotoba which is the Japanese flower language. Other than these two there also exists a Chinese flower language, and we’ve answered several asks about it. Your best bet right now would be our search bar for this, so you definitely catch all the asks. Or you just click on this link here. Edit: Not anymore, thanks to our updated tag system now this link to the Chinese flower language tag should be preferable.
And this right here is the Hanakotoba tag link.
There is also a German flower language, which rather works in small sentences than singular meanings, however, all sources are in the corresponding language. If you want to brave them anyway, go right here or over here on this page or maybe here too. It’s also my mother tongue so I can answer questions about it.
Same as German Spanish also (albeit not so common) has a flower language where all sources are exclusively in the root language, it is also largely influenced by the Victorian flower language so a lot of meanings are the same or quite similar. I know just enough of this language to brave it with a dictionary, but if you want to brave a couple sources try this link or this one here.
But even there is no corresponding flower language like we know it, flowers often have a corresponding cultural meaning like the flower above the ear custom in Hawaii or here’s a link about Day of the Dead flowers and their meanings.
I think your best bet would be to consider which cultures and languages your character might come in contact with on a daily basis and do research in that direction. Flowers have been given meanings for thousands of years, and there is always a chance something carried through. Here’s also an ask which we answered about the origin of flower meanings.
And at last, to answer the age-old question do florists know the meaning of flowers? Go here.
