Dear Vector Prime, have you ever had a Headmaster partner?
Dear Aegis Agent,
I have indeed. Allow me to continue my tale of the ultimate Titan Masters, and I promise your curiosity will be satisfied.
While Arcee was tracking down the Titan Master hidden on Caminus, a separate mission was being carried out on the colony world of Biosfera—known to the locals as Eukaris. Grotusque, Twinferno and Repugnus journeyed there to find another Titan Master, this one believed to grant incredible fireblast. The Monsterbots were not Optimus Prime’s first choice for the mission, as he worried their bellicose disposition would create conflict with the native population—but with the so-called jungle planet having no roads to speak of, only Autobots with bestial alt-modes would be able to handle the terrain.
As Biosfera had been largely insulated from the Autobot-Decepticon conflict, the Monsterbots expected its inhabitants to be pushovers, who would do little to impede or expedite their search one way or the other. Instead, they arrived to find the planet on the brink of all-out war between the four major tribes. Something was terribly wrong: the kinds of weapons being amassed were beyond even those used by Cybertronians in their raw destructive potential. Still, the Monsterbots decided the brewing tensions were none of their business, and decided to focus on searching for the Titan Master.
It was at that point that I was forced to intervene. I materialized in their midst, which proved to be something of a miscalculation: they were taken by surprise, and turned on me immediately. Naturally, I am no lightweight, but I must admit the three of them had me on the ropes. I forced a time-out, separating us from physical spacetime, to allow us to communicate without violence. Once they were prepared to listen, I told them what I had seen.
In the future, Biosfera is an irradiated wasteland. Algorithmic engines crawl over the ash, feeding carbonized trees into immense furnaces, liquid metal pouring from foundries to coat the planet, constructing some kind of superstructure… to uncertain ends. The few survivors of the global devastation have shed the last vestiges of their organic biology, becoming purely robotic lifeforms in order to weather the potent radiation.
The Monsterbots refused to believe me without proof, and so I removed my head, Safeguard. Repugnus briefly swapped Dastard for Safeguard, and saw in his memory banks what we had witnessed of that apocalyptic future. Begrudgingly, the Monsterbots agreed to help us, and we separated, each to visit one of the four tribes.
High in the mountain eyries of the Cloud Walkers, Grotusque and Fengul discovered that they had forged a partnership with the Decepticon Fangry, who had given them a powerful attack jet. At the same time, Twinferno and Daburu found the Scale Walkers to be strategizing with Krok, who had armed them with an unstoppable armored tank. So too were the Wave Walkers consulting with the crab-like Squeezeplay, and as I discovered, the Fur Walkers had welcomed amongst them the ferocious Horri-Bull. It was obvious to us that the Decepticons had completely infiltrated the planet’s tribes, and were deliberately stirring conflict between them. Unfortunately, stirring conflict was the Monsterbots’ specialty, and they each started fights with the Decepticons on sight, leading to them quickly being ousted from the other tribes. Safeguard and I had the most luck, managing to convince the chieftain of the Fur Walkers that they were better off without the “guidance” of Cybertronians—though unfortunately, this included ourselves.
We regrouped, and the Monsterbots decided to resume their search for the mythical Titan Master hidden on the planet. I hoped that in the course of our hunt, we would stumble across a centralized base of operations for the Decepticons, which might produce the evidence we needed to sway the tribes. As it turned out, we were being followed: one of Twinferno’s heads spotted a bird flying overhead, and recognised it not as one of the Cloud Walkers, but as the Decepticon Wingspan. Twinferno almost flew up to take out the snooping Decepticon, but I was able to convince him to hold. We waited until nightfall, and when Wingspan left to make his report, we quietly followed.
He led us to a foreboding tower of steel, a weapons factory hidden in a barren valley. Inside, ensconced within the topmost chamber, we found the true mastermind behind the hostilities: the lost Titan Master, Scorponok. Once, he had commanded one of the Titans of myth, but he had been usurped by the alien Lord Zarak. Driven to madness by this defeat, he had begun traveling the galaxy in search of new evolutionary pathways. On this remote and primeval colony, he found them: and now, his machinations had brought him to the precipice of his return to power. In the fallout, once the biomechanical natives evolved into a purely mechanical existence to survive the nuclear winter that followed, he would use a planetwide relay to reach out and upload his consciousness simultaneously into thousands of bodies—becoming a gestalt lifeform on a scale that would surpass even the Titans.
Well, we certainly weren’t going to stand around and wait for that to happen! The Monsterbots made short work of Wingspan and Horri-Bull, but Scorponok was far from finished: he recalled the jet and the tank from the tribes, and they joined together to form the almighty Overlord. One Titan Master formed his head, while another plugged into his chest, right alongside Scorponok himself—giving the combined giant three times the power.
As it happened, deploying Overlord turned out to be a miscalculation: unbeknownst to us all, skillful trackers from the four tribes had followed us to Scorponok’s lair, and when they saw that the Cloud Walkers’ and Scale Walkers’ new weapons were in fact one and the same, they finally had proof that they’d been deceived. They raced back to their homes, to urge their leaders to begin peace talks. Unable to take down Overlord, we beat a hasty retreat, and he split into his individual components once more to menace the tribes.
Unfortunately, the nuclear submarine Scorponok had built for the Wave Walkers remained in play—and once he gave the command, it launched its payload, sending a dozen missiles up into the atmosphere. Converting to starship mode, I flew after them, and began an arduous process to disarm the bombs. First, I froze the missiles in time, halting their trajectories but maintaining their velocity relative to the planet’s rotation in space. Then, with a boost of power from Safeguard, I isolated each individual warhead, accelerating time to allow billions of years to pass in what was, from our perspective, mere cycles. During that time, the fissile material experienced many half-lives’ worth of radioactive decay… until finally, the payloads were rendered inert. Although I had saved the planet from nuclear fallout, the missiles still had enough raw explosive power to cause untold destruction—and I was powerless to stop them. The radiation from the warheads needed to go somewhere—and although spread over a short period, it was still a strong enough burst of gamma rays to cause a chain reaction, unleashing an electromagnetic pulse which knocked me offline and sent me plummeting into the ocean.
The rest, I heard after-the-fact, once the Wave Walkers dredged me up and brought me to shore. The Fur Walkers and Scale Walkers united, ambushing Overlord’s tank half, while the Monsterbots waylaid the jet—just long enough for the Cloud Walkers to intercept and destroy the missiles in midair, before they reached their targets.
As for Scorponok, he was able to slip away in the confusion. The Monsterbots were frustrated to have failed their mission, but after seeing the sheer destructive potential of his fireblast, they knew it was for the best that Cybertron would have to do without his power. They resolved that when Scorponok next appeared, they would be ready and waiting to settle the score.
Back on Cybertron, the situation had gone from bad to worse: Powerhouse’s seismic forces disturbed Trypticon from his hibernation, and he awoke very hungry indeed. After consuming several Titan Masters, including Powerhouse, and gaining their abilities, Trypticon lay waste to the Autobot defenses, felling Fortress Maximus. Just in time, Iron Apex arrived from Caminus, merging with Magnus Prime to form Omega Prime, who was able to drive the beast back to the Praetorus Wharf.
During the battle, I had been impressed by the bravery of Metalhawk, and so before returning to the Realm of the Primes, I entrusted with him the power of my spark—much as my father, Primus, had done long ago to create the Titan Masters in the first place.

Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: The Pack
When Transformers Prime introduced the idea of Predacons in Season 3, a thought popped into my head; Where the Scrap are the Maximals? The Autobots with Beast modes never made an appearance in the show along with a bunch of other characters who were supposed to be in the series, but mostly due to the show not having the budget required to implement them. The idea of the Maximals never really existed in the showrunners list of lightbulbs, but what if they existed?
The Pack was introduced in IDW Publishing's Beast Wars Comics as a Maximal Imperium Covert ops unit under the Command of Lio Convoy. In my version, The Pack was an Autobot Infiltration/ Intelligence team that were sent behind enemy lines to extract info from Decepticon Facilities. The Crew consisted of:
Leobreaker (Lio Convoy): the steadfast, wise and compassionate leader who becomes the emissary of Onyx Prime
Tumblr media
Skipjack: the cranky Inventor who used to be an architect
Tumblr media
Bantor: strong and fast, but he's also an intelligent, disciplined warrior with a tactical mind and a keen understanding of guerilla warfare—useful traits to have when you're a demolitions specialist. His Fuzor beast mode means that he's at home in the trees or on the ground, stalking his prey slowly and silently through the jungle and into a carefully planned ambush. By that time, his victims have already walked right into one of his cleverly-disguised snares or explosive booby-traps.
Tumblr media
Airrazor: She's calm and confident, but also adventurous and brave, with a healthy supply of dry humor. Her aerial skill in either mode, incredibly sharp eyesight and steady aim make her a dangerous opponent.
Tumblr media
Wolfang: A team player through and through, effortlessly integrating himself into whatever unit he finds himself entrenched with.
Tumblr media
Twinferno: Admittedly, Twinferno has always been undecided, but when he gained a twin Dragon Transmetal form it kind of made things harder, but the one thing that he always agrees on is the busting of Decepti-Chops.
Tumblr media
Beastbox: A Mini-Con mercenary for hire, Beastbox thinks of himself as the king of the jungle, but nevertheless will work for for anyone willing to pay him in Energon bananas.
Tumblr media
Divebomb: A Predacon clone created by Shockwave, he rejected his original path and now hunts his fellow Predacons with the same zeal with which they hunt others, and though he shares their lust for destruction, at least now it is harnessed in a more productive way.
Tumblr media
After the reformation of Cybertron, The Pack opted to become a retrieval team hunting down any war criminals who fled war tribunals. Onboard their starship The Yukikaze, the Pack was intercepted by the Star Seekers' flagship Tidal Wave and crash landed on a Planet, unbeknownst to the Crew the planet they landed on was a Cybertronian Colonial World called Animatron. Upon Arrival, the crew quickly discovered that the planet was actually an experimental world founded by Onyx Prime to create a new generation of Cybertronians with Beast Modes. The Pack enters a temple containing Hieroglyphics, Leobreaker touches and says one of the words on the wall that says "Maximize". A flash of light appears and Leobreaker and the Pack are taken to the realm of the Primes and are met with a giant beast like-Cybertronian with four legs, wings and four eyes. "Greetings Leobreaker, I am Onyx Prime, you and your compatriots are on the planet Animatron a world in which I hoped to create a new species known as Maximals. A more peaceful animalistic society that was destroyed by the Quintessons. In the Aftermath, Thundertron in his youth scanned an alt-mode of one of my citizens and begun his plundering. I am in need of your Team's services, my close friend Micronus is guiding your Leader Optimus on his Journey to defeat Megatronus The Fallen, I need your help to find Thundertron before he seeks an ultimate power that will ultimately be cataclysmic. I give you and your team the alt-modes of my citizens. Leobreaker do you accept the Burden with all that you are?" Leobreaker replies with "I do". "Arise Lio Convoy, you will become my Emissary I will grant upon you an Energon Matrix, a supplementation of the Matrix of Leadership that was created by myself, Prima and my dearest Solus. It will give you powers that will be unimaginable to you, now go for there is much to do"
Notes: Okay, so lets get this out of the way
The Maximals here are the ones that never made it to pasture. The idea of the Maximals in Prime seemed entirely far-fetched, but why not let me give a crack at it.
Leobreaker becomes Lio Convoy, Granted the Energon Matrix and becomes the Emissary of Onyx Prime (Who we've not seen or heard of in a long time)
Skipjack is an alternate name for (Erector) a name in which I will never ever in a million years ever grant to any character in TF Lore ever. The design was for a Beast Wars/ Prime style reimagining.
Bantor was mentioned by Ratchet and I thought I should just get that ball rolling.
Airrazor and Wolfang were in a construct-bots toyline for Prime and have a kind of Airrazor/Tigatron Relationship.
Twinferno (Awesome name) was in the Robots In Disguise 2015 toyline and had a cool design and has a type of Turbo Revving young punk personality.
Beastbox is a Mini-Con with Tons of Optimus Primal References
Divebomb is a Predacon turned Autobot/Maximal with a dark past.
Thundertron and the Star Seekers are the main enemy and seek Solus' Creation Lathe.
Energon Matrix gives Lio Convoy similar abilities to that of Beast Wars 2nd Lio Convoy
And that's all folks.
P.S. this is Lio Convoy's Final Form

MONTH OF THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON!
January's Patreon-backed @tfwiki toy pictures update is all dragonoids, because... well, it's kinda obvious, isn't it.
Tumblr media
Let's start with Cybertron's SCOURGE, brutal dictator of the Jungle Planet!
Tumblr media
One of the weirder releases in a "normal" Transformers line, the Beast Machines "Beast Rider" MECHATRON is a minimally-transforming battle chariot with pullback motor and gear-driven action. It was released first in Megatron's red and blue, then later in this fetching purple and yellow.
Tumblr media
One can argue Deathsaurus is more a kaiju than anything, but the Combiner Wars iteration (dubbed DEZARAS) is certainly dragonoid enough for me for this. A retool of Sky Lynx, he now forms the torso of Liokaiser, replacing Leozack & Jallguar, thus his colors being more theirs.
Tumblr media
The Prime: Beast Hunters toyline was heavy with dragonoid Predacons. And the Kre-O version of the line had its share. This brick-built version of SKYSTALKER came with the "Battle Net Bumblebee" set. Unnamed on the packaging, promo material called him "Stormrazor", Skystalker's pre-release name.
Tumblr media
Some Hasbro employee circa 2014 *really* liked Doublecross. The Tiny Titans figurine, now called TWINFERNO (awesome), was the first of several toys of, or based on, the twin-headed dragon Monsterbot over the next few short years. Dig that RID'15 style art on the card!
Tumblr media
Speaking of RID'15, WINDRA comes from Takara's version of the line, Adventure. A redeco of Dragonus, this Torpedo Mini-Con was part of the only wave of single-pack Mini-Cons in the line. He also gained a 5mm post on the tail so he can attach to non-Torpedo-launching toys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Last Knight put a lot of knight/dragon theming into all Transformers, including the preschool-aimed Rescue Bots line. The "Knight Watch" Bumblebee toy came with the twin dragon Mini-Cons FREEZER BURN and WINGBLADE, who turn into battle axes with a single step.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You didn't think you were NOT going to get some BotBots images, did you? The Fresh Squeezes squad has two dragons most bots avoid: ADAY because she's a snappy super-tart apple, and SMERG THE SAD just because he's spinach. Poor guy.
If you like these themed updates and want to make me do more every month, you can support me at Patreon, at
patreon (dot) com / gregswikipics
Every little bit helps, and at the higher pledge level you can pick a theme!

One Decepticon concept I’ve been toying with off and on for RiD15 is a pack of Glitch Mice that descend on Crown City and start causing machinery to malfunction. Conceptually their Robot Modes are based on Beast Wars Metals Rattrap’s cartoony Beast Mode, while their Vehicle Modes are loosely based on Star Wars mouse droids.
I saw them having a controller, as these are more Cybertronic wildlife, and thought of bringing back Slink, the cat burglar Decepticon from the RiD15 chapter books, creating distractions with Glitch Mice as part of a money making scheme. If not her, another cat bot similar to Scratch and Razorpaw then.
Glitch Mice and Retrorats are distinct species, with Snitch, Labrat, Packrat and Rattrap being Retrorats in addition to being fully sentient. Retrorats also appear to enjoy retro things and speak in outdated slang, be it from Cybertron or other planets, lol.
Some other one off ideas I had was a bulldog Decepticon based on Terrashock’s model, a Sharkticon Combiner in the vein of Chop Shop, a Chop Shop recolor made into Tarantulas, a rework of SkyByte who is a Torpedo Deployer (Slapper as a Slicedice retool?), Autobot Dogfight appearing but he’s redesigned to resemble Snoopy’s pilot look in Robot Mode, and helps the Bee Team with an air battle. I’m not sure about this one because I already had Stormshot, Twinferno, Cloudraker and Skyhammer as supporting characters though. I also had considered other Pretenders coming in as guests, though the only one with a shell atm because it’d be plot relevant would be Iguanus, who’d be a large kaiju stomping around Crown City. His true body, in bike mode, is stored in the Pretender Shell’s head, acting like the creature’s brain. Skullgrin/Dauros was also considered possibly in a similar role, and if not, a member of the Buffaloid line instead.
I’ve also toyed with a modified Ultra Bee that possesses a super mode when combined with Stormshot (a gun) and Twinferno (jet pack).
Reoccuring Decepticon mooks working for Steeljaw and Glowstrike would likely be OCs Razorback (Duocon), Mole Dive (Combiner) and Choptor (Ardurian Roc). Choptor is partnered with Mini-Con Sandsting and they partially function as a nod to Blackout and Scorponok from the movies.

Transformers
Buzzworthy Bumblebee
Worlds Collide
by Hasbro (2021)
I got real lucky with this set.
Hours after being announced on TFW2005.com’s forums on 07-26-21 about being spotted in a Target in New Jersey I decided to stop by that very same store, and found two remaining, so I picked it up.
The Worlds Collide set was an unexpected treat!
It was a four pack of Transformers consisting of three deluxe class figures and one voyager class.
Part of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee toyline it features a variant of Bumblebee, Predacon Blackarachnia, the headmaster Decepticon Fangry, and a new comer to Transformers mythos Nemesis Primal. Not Nemesis Prime, mind you, PRIMAL, and evil version of the Maximal Optimus Primal.
Let’s get started.
Tumblr media
I’m not about to bury the lead here, I’ll start with my favorite...
Nemesis Primal:
Nemesis Primal is a repaint of the Kingdom toy of Optimus Primal figure, and I really like it!
The beast mode is gorilla with black fur, and purple skin. Otherwise it’s the same toy, and it’s really good. The joints are tight, he poses and stands well too.
-Beast Mode
Tumblr media
-Bot mode
Tumblr media
Nemesis Primal in bot mode is even better! He’s got a new head sculpt, which is the Optimus primal head, but with a closed mask instead of the open one from the Kingdom figure. It looks really good!
He’s got the usual articulation, and has blast effects ports, you can even see a tiny Predacon badge on his chest plate. Nemesis Primal is an awesome figure!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fangry:
Next up is a deluxe class of the headmaster (or Titan Master now) of the Decepticon Fangry.
-Beast Mode
Tumblr media
Fangry is a heavy retool of Titans Return Twinferno, and other two Monsterbot retools; the all share the body core section.
Fangry is a werewolf with bat wings. He was my original and first headmaster toy as a kid, so he was probably also my favorite.
Though the beast mode is blocky it is also okay. He’s got many shared parts as Twinferno such as the body core, the legs, and wings. He’s got a cool wolf head which looks organic, just like his G1 toy.
The headmaster Brisko sits in a compartment in the wolf belly, and can be removed by opening the hatch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-Transformation
Is pretty basic, however once you start doing so you might notice some of the thin, and weird feeling plastic. This toy is a heavy retool, and I’m not sure if Hasbro used the best materials for it. It’s a little concerning.
-Bot Mode
Tumblr media
Once you get Fangry into robot he looks really, really cool. He’s just this hot pink and black robot with a green face, and I totally dig the look.
However referring back to shoddy materials mentioned in the transformation they’re still present for the robot mode. He’s got loose joints such as elbows and knees. Fangy cannot stand well without having to point he knees away from each other. It’s very frustrating, and prevents me from making poses and such. It’s such a shame because I love his look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Fangry didn’t come packaged with a weapon, I decided to give him his mini Titans Return figure configured into weapon mode for him to wield. Why not?
Tumblr media
Unfortunately the gun mode is not blast effect compatable.
Tumblr media
Brisko:
Brisko is a the head mast partner. He looks good, and has a painted face. That’s just about it for him.
Tumblr media
Here’s comparison of Worlds Collide Brisko next to his Titans Return version. Pretty much the colors are inverted and the new one has a silver face. Otherwise it’s the same mold.
Tumblr media
Bumblebee:
Bumblebee here is the odd man out for this set. Being the only Autobot among Decepticons and Predacons, in my opinion he’s also the weakest of this set too.
This Bumblebee is in the Cliffjumper body of the Earthrise one.
The car mode is basically the Cliffjumper body but in bright yellow. It rolls well, and the accessories attach to the car mode just fine.
-Vehicle Mode
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can have the bazooka peg onto the roof just fine.
Tumblr media
The car mode has water ski mode, just like all the other figures of this mold can do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Comparing Worlds Collide Bumblebee to Earthrise Cliffjumper
Tumblr media
Comparing Worlds Collide Bumblebee to Earthrise Bumblebee.
Tumblr media
-Bot Mode
Bot mode is basically Bumblebee’s head on a yellow Cliffjumper body. OKay. that’s it.
I’m sorry, but that’s a little dull to me.
Tumblr media
What I think was a missed opportunity was Hasbro could have made a new head sculpt for BB based on his original G1 toy, the one with the battle mask.
OR what would have been a good idea was attach the Cliffjumper head to the yellow body and make a yellow Cliffjumper. OR used Earthrise (Volkswagon) BB (head and all) just deco him all read, making red Bumblebee.
You G1ers out there, I’m sure some of us remember the rare red BB and/or yellow Cliffjumpers. I have a couple of them.
All I’m saying is that there were other options Hasbro could have taken, instead of such an un-imaginary one.
Tumblr media
A hive of Bumblebees
Tumblr media
Blackarachnia
Blackarachnia is a spider which colors are based, roughly on the the original toys. The colors are two shades of purple and gold (and I think I mis-transformed her beast mode,  but I don’t really car). I really like this deco.

-Bot Mode

Final Thoughts:
Thoughts? I live this set. The Worlds Collide set was briefly hinted at one day online, and then like a week later was just rushed onto the store shelves. I was one of the lucky few to get my hands on it first, and I think it’s great!
