Hello again! I wanted to update you and tell you that I found out what my typewriter is (roughly). Its a 197x Underwood Typemaster. It's a pretty hefty machine but is really sturdy. I haven't found a ton of info on it but that's what the database says it is.

Also thanks again for the resources! You've gotten me into finding out more about typewriters and I've been debating getting a portable Remington typewriter for my birthday (if I can snag a good deal, the aesthetic, size, and case are all so cool! And doesnt weigh like 40 or so pounds like my underwood haha)

Hi, your blog is super cool! I was wondering if you could identify this typewriter?

I got it today and it's pretty neat (and also super heavy, 30 pounds plus?). I'm having trouble finding the serial number on it, but it is an Underwood Typemaster made in Canada, if that helps at all.

Aaaaaah thank you so much! I’m sorry I can’t tell you more, I just didn’t see much info on the typewriter database :(.

The serial number might be under the carriage? Try checking the top right under the end of the carriage.

I personally love the look of this model, I think a lot of 70/80’s machines have a uniquely industrial look to them, they appear simple yet elegant.

I highly recommend looking up typewriter care on YouTube, my favorite channels include Just My Typewriter and Joe Van Cleave.
