Tyrants of the Underdark, playing with the Abberations from the expansion and the Drow from the base game. When the expansion first game out I wasn’t super-bothered by the difference in the cardstock for some reason, but now I realize it really is terrible - the thick, high-gloss cards stick together and naturally clump when mixed with the basic cards, plus they aren’t even the same size. Plus after only a couple outings some of them are already starting to split. Gah. The only way to play them would be to sleeve everything which is such a pain, but I might do it. I like the new Undead, although not sure how I feel about the Aberrations. Tyrants of the Underdark, with the Undead from the Aberrations & Undead expansion. Apart from the fact that they literally changed everything about the minion cards - card thickness, size, finish, color - this is a pretty cool expansion. I liked the flavor of the Undead - a number of card that banish themselves for effects. The bad matching of the new cards isn’t great, but it’s not the worst thing in the world either; they’re totally playable. BGG says I’m now up to 13 plays on this, which is pretty good, especially considering it’s a game I would consider quite good but not great. Of the “hybrid” straight deckbuilders (like Clank! or Trains), this is the best IMO. #bgg #boardgames #boardgamegeek #tyrantsoftheunderdark
