Lords of Waterdeep is not my favourite worker placement game. But it is still an excellent game. Combining this with the Scoundrels of Skullport expansion and it kicks the number of possibilities, choices, replayability and interest level up several notches. The theme of the game and the Intrigue cards are what make this game fun and exciting for me. Some of the combinations of Intrigue cards and Quest cards can provide a light "engine-building" mechanism that work for you and help develop further points. The Skullport expansion adds so much by way of new options, 2 new game boards with new locations, lots more cards, approximately double the buildings and corruption that remove points at the end of the game. So, funny thing. We hadn't played Skullport in quite a while, so when I looked at my Lord and saw it was the Mind Flayer guy, my wires got crossed and I thought he was the one who gave you 4 points per corruption token; but he's actually points for having stuff with the Skullport expansion symbol. We considered the corruption lord very weak for a while, but after playing a bit on the iOS implementation I changed my mind. If he actually *had* been my lord I would have won, but that's the sort of mistake that loses games pretty badly. Lords of Waterdeep. Haven't played this is a while, but still a very fun game. The expansion really helps keep it going with lots of replayability; we like Skullport a bit better than Undermountain, but they're both good. Not such a fan of the 6-player or epic game options; one of Waterdeep's charms is that it's pretty quick and short-ish, so adding a lot of length and downtime through a 6th player or longer game is not really what I want. I'm surprised Wizards never did anything with this line, Waterdeep was really good. #bgg #boardgamegeek #lordsofwaterdeep #scoundrelsofskullport #wotc
