Was rereading @wandaxpietro 's don't wanna stick my fingers in this or i'll start to bleed and the note about associating Mastermind with Wanda and Pietro bc of their relationship in 616 in the Brotherhood, and it reminded me of my headcanon that Mastermind is the one that taught the twins English in that universe.

They know English by the time the Brotherhood is fighting the X-men but there's no reason for them to have known it beforehand. They could hardly have learned it on the streets in eastern Europe and Mayra and Django already have to teach them like 3 languages at least, and why would they know English?

(As a sidenote, I guess I'm arguing that the Brotherhood spoke Russian to each other before the twins learned English. Its a miracle they had a language in common tbh, but Pietro does say that one time that he knows Russian and thought everyone did, so maybe he was speaking from experience.)

So, Magneto tells them they need to learn it for the international politics theyre now doing, but he's not gonna waste his time teaching them himself. He drops in to do manipulation only, no more engagement than necessary. Their relationship with Toad has absolutely none of the respect you'd expect out of a mentor-student relationship, so I'm ruling him out. That leaves just Mastermind (who might be the only Brotherhood member whose first language is English?) and their relationship with him is oddly polite given that he keeps hitting on teenage Wanda as a full adult man (until he starts using his powers on her and she finally sics Pietro on him) and that could work as something that comes from him being a teacher for them.

Just thought that would be a cool addition to the dynamic. Those lessons would be so weird: teenage Wanda and Pietro, who have no life experience interacting with other people and are slowly realising theyre in a terrorist organisation, trying to be polite and good and normal, while their teacher is trying to convince them that the 'Evil' in Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is totally ironic, and that he's suave and sophisticated and this 16 year old should definitely marry him, all the while unsure whether he should comment on the twincest vibes. Today theyre learning modal verbs, tomorrow useful phrases for when youre taking hostages, and the day after maybe they'll read a classic novel and he'll convince Wanda that marriage is an economic proposition.

i was so ready to treat this universe's parksborn as an entirely different beast, but hickman managed to adapt it so well... they haven't known each other for that long, they haven't yet gone through as many things together, and harry is absolutely keeping shit from peter and not to be fully trusted. but they're comrades in arms, they're partners in crime, they have a deep bond and trust forged not by time and friendship but by putting their lives in each other's hands. and harry... this harry is handsome, smart, successful, married to an amazing woman who's also a hot babe, he's even a superhero... and there's still one glaring way in which he could never compare to peter. and i have no doubt that, despite this universe's norman having died without ever meeting peter, harry is still going to feel like the least favourite son at some point. probably something to do with the suit AI.

wait, how old is felicia supposed to be in this? bc i thought she was peter's age but she's actually not looking much older than richard tbh... and the framing here... is this heading where i think it is...

not sure how i feel about it tbh... not the romance per se, i'm surprisingly fine with the idea, but this positioning of richard as peter's "heir" over may(day)...

even the wraparound suit logo looks similar... not a fan. richard has actually been my bet for series death from day one, exactly bc he's such an outlier. everyone else in this series is an iconic spider-man character (even those who are iconic for their deaths), but richard? who's ever heard the tale of richard parker, spider-boy? no one. if anything, peter's male successor is miles.

this spiderling subplot should be may's. hell, i'd love to see her dating a young felicia (who, iirc, was first canonised as bisexual in a spider-girl issue). yeah, this may is too young, but making her the younger sibling was a conscious choice. if they're really having richard get into superheroing even after peter comes back, i highly doubt it wasn't planned from the start.

One thing i didnt like about the Billy+Tommy are their kids thing (which is otherwise so dear to me) is the excuse it gives Vision for abandoning them and for being unsatisfied with Wanda after everything he put her through to get kids that way (entirely for his ego). I dont want to him to have an excuse, if im a gratuitous hater for one fictional character its Vision, i want him to die forever.

But ive been thinking about how much characters take Crystals side - even Wanda is on Pietro's ass about treating her well (When has he ever treated any woman poorly or even hinted that he would before this point that she would feel the need to say this cuz its been the opposite as far as i see?), and while i know its just lazy women-vs-men writing, it would be justified if everyone knows he's in love with someone else.

Like Wanda feels guilty about it and its her feeling bad that motivates her to be protective of Crystal. No one blames Crystal too much for cheating cuz hasnt Pietro been at least emotionally cheating the whole time, so its his fault if you think about it. Its really obvious from the way he talks about it that his professions of devotions to her arent really about her. She's just a proxy for his sister. He doesn't even know her as a person, no matter how much hes trying to be a good husband, he's pretending shes someone else and struggling to deal with it when that isnt who she is. And everyone feels bad for her even though she isnt a very good person herself.

I didnt want to give her excuses either, but this explains the weird narrative moments so much better than whats explicitly presented.
