Being more disciplined isn’t an impossible task. It starts with having a healthy attitude towards self-discipline in general. Let’s agree on what it isn’t. Although it may seem like that at times, self-discipline isn’t something harsh, demanding, uncomfortable, or a form of self-punishment. So if that’s not it, what is self-discipline? It’s more of a lifestyle, an attitude, a mindset. You use your mind to observe, learn, think, make conclusions and decisions based on what you’ve learned. You also use your mind to experience the world around you and to improve yourself in all the ways that are important to you. What do you benefit from it? You gain freedom. You can grow. You can achieve mastery. And you can lead a life with more purpose. You get to be in charge. This means it is you who decides today that you’ll get better at something, create something valuable, or commit to a goal that will benefit you ten years down the road. You feel empowered to take that first step. It helps you do something important today. And when you do, you’ll notice how much having discipline can transform your life. Never give up. I made the decision never to quit no matter what, no matter how many times I fail, or how many times things get difficult, two things are going to happen; I either going to succeed, or I going to die trying! So now, I tell you to begin and make the decision that I will never ever going to quit no matter what, then you will succeed, it’s as simple as that! When I started this project, I knew that it will be hard in terms of funds for me to reach out all the districts with the team, I want to move with, but nevertheless I won't quit no matter what. Introduction of Lindyhop and Swing Dance in Northern Uganda is now in three big districts. I will be following up to see the growth of the dance and also sharing with them more platforms. Calling for more support so that we can finish up this project in Kitgum district well. I know people are really eager to watch the videos of the workshops. Finally, we are in our final destination on introduction of Lindyhop and Swing Dance in Northern Uganda. We have arrived today in Kitgum safely and ready to start the workshops with dancers here. We moved with some of our dancers from Heart of Dance African Rhymes who have been dancing it for more than two years to inspire, encourage and motivate more dancers here to pick up interest on the dance. To all #Lindyhop and #Swingdance communities, we are calling for your help has we have to finish up 15 days with these dancers here and the funds are not really well. We are so happy to see the turn up of dancers in a big number to attend #lindyhop and #swingdance workshops at Gulu youth center. As today is our last day in Gulu. Today 27th November 2022, marks our first day of workshops about #Lindyhop and #swingdance introduction, with 16 dancers in Lira District, Northern Uganda. We have heard a lot about these dancers and their challenges in dance and what are they expecting from these workshops which will take few days. As the workshops, will continue we shall be expecting more dancers joining in to learn more and also share with each other. I Kept Pushing - I could have stopped at thousands of points before this and life would have been so much easier. I could have done what everyone told me to do, getting only the bare minimum done and spent my entire life wasting it away. But that wouldn’t have made me happy. Although it was tough and although I wanted to give up thousands of times before, I didn’t. I kept going. This is why I am here today. Has Okurut landed in Uganda, today 03/10/2022 he was invited by Mareesa and Pastor Binaisa Emmanuel at Righteous of God International Ministries to open up the talent show which had brought a lot young generations to showcase their talents through music, dance and drama. Okurut did one minute Lindyhop performance with Mareesa and very one was really wondering, about the dance because it's their first time to watch performance of Lindyhop. To be successful, what should you need more, motivation or consistency? One definition of motivation is “the general desire or willingness” to do something. That’s the thing with motivation. It’s a feeling. Desire. Willingness. Must you have these to act? I don’t like cleaning my kitchen, I’d rather not have to do it. It’s nice when I am motivated to do it, because I feel like it. Doing things when you feel like it is great! But sometimes I just have to start cleaning and get over the fact that I don’t want to do it. Because, seriously, how often do you feel like doing hard things? Mundane, boring things? Or time-consuming things? Or, stressful “out of your comfort zone” things? The author of “The Five Second Rule,” Mel Robbins has the most brilliant insights when it comes to people’s obsession with their feelings. She says that you aren’t battling your ability to do whatever it is you want to do (diet, work hard, etc.) you are “you are battling your feelings about doing it… you must ignore how you feel, and just do it anyway.” So, that’s motivation. Consistency can be defined as “the state or condition of always happening or behaving in the same way.” For any endeavor, consistency can’t be overstated. It’s an absolute must if you want to get good and stay good at anything. Show me a person who is not consistent, I will show you someone who will ultimately fail. Show me a person who is consistent, I will show you someone who will fail their way to success. (In other words, even if they mess up, they can succeed.) If you aren’t focused on the internal “feeling” of motivation and you showed up every single day to do something… consistency wins over motivation every time.
