There wasn't a day go by where Tayce found herself getting irritated by A'Whora. Something about the girl pissed her off to the extreme; it was usually her attitude which rubbed her up the wrong way, both in class and out of it. They both shared the same fashion class, as well as being part of the same friend group in their college. 

  Despite this, they were far from friends.

  Tayce had tried to get along with A'Whora, with the help of Ellie and Lawrence. However, every time she tried to start a conversation with the woman, she would make some snide remark to Tayce and flounce off to Joe. She couldn't be bothered to try with a woman who quite frankly was an arrogant cow to her.

  Similarly, A'Whora found herself getting frustrated by Tayce but it was for different reasons. Tayce had always been popular, throughout high-school and then into college. She couldn't remember a day when she hadn't been surrounded with a group of friends, something which A'Whora had always envied. The only friend she had throughout her time in school had been Joe-everyone else had always come and gone. Whilst it was nice to have some company in the flat they shared, alongside Ginny, she still missed something. Not to mention, A'Whora's lack of a partner was something which had been playing on her mind since she had joined the college. Being queer was somewhat difficult for her, especially as there didn't seem to be anyone else both in their friend group and the wider year who was queer and single. 

  Ginny had tried to help her, in any way they could. From the numerous dating profiles that Ginny had set up (albeit some of them had been done so without A'Whora's knowledge), to the clubs that they had dragged her out to in hopes for a girlfriend. Alas, anyone that A'Whora did find only turned out to either be a one night stand or a string of dates that fizzled out within a few weeks. She tried not to let it get her down, instead throwing herself into her classes.

  However, Tayce always seemed to make her feel worse. 

  Despite the fact she really liked Tayce. 

  Which she'd never tell anyone, of course. 

  "So has anyone found someone so far this year?" Lawrence asked as the group sat around the table at lunch one day. It was now mid-October, a few weeks into the term and by now they had all settled in again. 

  "What do you think?" Veronica huffed, sat opposite Lawrence. "There's no point in asking that question, Lawrence, unless it's a chance for you to boast about your own relationship with Ellie." 

  "You're lucky she's gone off with Bim for that meeting about textiles otherwise she'd rip your head off for that Vee." Ginny snorted. "I'm sure that lovely Lawrence here wouldn't do such a thing, would you?" They turned to the person in question, who shook their head.

  "Of course not babes! I would never dream of it!" Lawrence caught the eye of A'Whora, who had been glued to her phone the entire time. "What about you A'Whora? Got any mystery lovers that we should be aware of, someone hiding in your wardrobe?" A'Whora shook her head, her eyes not budging from her screen.

  "Surprised she hasn't been shagging some girl behind Tescos." Tayce murmured, causing Asttina to let out a muffled snort behind her hand at the remark. This didn't go unnoticed by A'Whora, who now quickly looked up and glared at Tayce. 

  "Oh piss off Tayce, it's none of your business is it!" She hissed at the other girl, putting her phone down on the table. "Just cause you haven't dated anyone since Year 10!" There was a sharp intake of breath from Ginny as Tayce locked eyes with A'Whora, a blank expression on her face.

  "At least I don't slag off other people's dating lives for the fun of it since I don't have my own." There wasn't an edge to the Welsh woman's calm voice, however her message was crystal clear. A'Whora seemed to understand as-her cheeks were flushed as she stood up and gathered her belongings, before quickly storming off. A moment of silence clouded over the table, which was broken by Joe.

"Well that wasn't the most pleasant of conversations we've ever had at this table was it?"

  A few days passed and there was a clear frost in the air between Tayce and A'Whora. Despite the group's best efforts to try and get the women to reconcile, their attempts fell short and they continued to either ignore each other or bicker endlessly over the smallest of incidents.

  Finally, their arguing culminated in a party that Bimini was hosting at their flat for their friend group. Everyone was there, including the two conflicting women, however they were being kept apart by Joe and Ellie (both of whom had been trying to keep the peace recently). For the first part of the evening it had been going well, and everyone seemed to be getting along, aside from the petty bickering that was ongoing between Lawrence and Ginny over their separate coursework. 

  "Tayce!" A'Whora's voice called her from across the room. "Can I talk to you?" She turned to look at the older woman. "Like now?" 

  "Sure." Tayce put down her drink and followed A'Whora outside into the back garden, a knot of unease in her stomach. As they walked outside the noise behind them quietened until it was virtually silent when Tayce shut the door behind her. She faced A'Whora, noticing the woman had a small frown on her face. "What's up?" 

  "I…" The other woman hesitated for a brief moment. "I wanted to say that I'm sorry, for all of this." 

  "How come?" 

  "I feel bad." A'Whora shrugged, looking down at her feet. "Not fair on you is it really, or on anything else." 

  "Glad you've grown up a little bit then." Tayce smirked, stepping forward. "A surprise if I'm totally honest." 

  "Oh give over Tayce." She tried to keep a level tone but a small smile crept onto A'Whora's face. 

  "I don't think I will, darling." Tayce smiled, moving towards the other woman. "Not at all." Placing one finger under A'Whora's chin and tilted it up, studying her face. 

  "See something you like, Welshie?" 

  "I think I do." Tayce murmured, before leaning in to kiss the woman gently. A'Whora felt her heart jump before she kissed Tayce back, looping her arms around her waist. 

  She'd gotten what she wanted at last.

Ellie and Tia: No, it scares them

Lawrence: Has watched multiple adaptations, is doing it to finally learn the real story. They will lose their shit when the cowboy is introduced

Veronica: Doing it because she likes getting emails

Bimini and Asttina: Yes, they’re genuinely excited to read it this way for the first time. Will also lose shit when cowboy Quincey is introduced

Ginny: Signed up, forgets to check emails

A’whora and Tayce: No, call everyone who is doing it a nerd (but Tayce does get a little tempted to join in so she can understand all the random paprika memes that Joe sends to the gc)
