kamukomahina gender/body headcanons

a bit of a ramble about my body, gender, and general appearance headcanons for them bcuz someone sent me a curiouscat prompting this 3k words of hyperfixation nonsense

Komaeda:

- He has a naturally lithe body, with a thin waist, broad shoulders and hips, which give him an hourglass. and a rather andrognyous body, which is "lucky" for him, because I hc him as nonbinary and gender non-conforming

- Gender-wise, as I said, I think he's nonbinary. Usually I do view Nagito as AMAB but I indulge in transmasc Nagito from time to time depending on my preference and how much I wish to uh, well, project, lol. But either way I think he would use he/they pronouns in a western sense. In japanese, however, they don't use third person pronouns that other people refer to them with, and in canon he uses the first person pronoun "boku", which is a "soft" masculine pronoun, in comparison to the "hard" masculine pronoun, “ore” (which Hajime uses btw!) which fits quite nicely, in my opinion! Also, in Japanese, you can be 'fluid' with your first person pronouns depending on the situation, so I think he could use more neutral or feminine pronouns should he desire it, too, to play on his gender non-conformity.

- Komaeda is very secure in his gender, regardless of being AMAB or AFAB. He does not care about stigma, or discrimination, he does not care about being "accepted" by broader society. Broader society is sort of meaningless to him, the average person and their ideas about gender and presentation and effeminity mean NOTHING to him. Whether or not a random person the street genders him correctly or treats him with respect is sort of, pointless? Because to him, most ordinary people are pointless nobodies. Their thoughts do not matter to him. I think he is still prone to insecurity, however, when around his "betters" but I just struggle to think he would degrade himself in regards to gender. to him, it's the least of his problems. what he cares about is hope and talent. He could dress femininely or wear makeup or straight up crossdress and not mind it, really. He thinks people would find a problem with it are the problem, because why does it even matter? It speaks to the way Komaeda is detached from societal norms & "normal" people, he did not grow up in normal circumstances, so he doesn't interact with the world normally by any means. he can mask and act normally to the best of his ability, often unintentionally?, but he simply does not fit into broader society and doesn't seek to.

- Komaeda loses weight really easily, and doesn't gain weight that well. This is mainly due to his many illnesses but also the medications he's been put on. He has a low appetite and burns weight rather easily, even though I headcanon that he eats like garbage (mainly junk food & takeout, since he obviously cannot cook). This makes him overall, health wise, not very healthy, and stick thin because of it. A stiff breeze could knock him over, tbh.

- He has a lot of faded scars, self-inflicted or not.

- Pre-despair (in HPA) he is fairly healthy but still lithe, and progressively his body deteriorates through his 2 years of hopes peak before the Tragedy begins.

- During the Tragedy itself, his body is at it's worst. he is almost nothing but bone at times, barely kept together by a need to live so he can see hope triumph. His weight fluctuates but he's very unhealthy. He's not anorexic or on death's door, but he's not well off, either.

- After being put into the neo world program, right after waking up, he's very, very thin and gaunt. he was in a pod on feeding tubs for an indiscernible but at least probably a month's worth of time? So he's just very weak, like he could collapse if he moves too quickly.

- But a while after waking, he goes into remission, and starts to gain more healthy habits due to being rehabilitated and cared for by Hinata, and gains some weight, finally at a healthy, normal weight. I still think he would struggle with putting on too much weight, but I am slightly fond of the idea that he gets a bit of healthy pudge after a while. To him, it's so foreign being healthy, that he honestly think something's wrong with him at first.

Hinata:

- Hinata has a very... average body, true to form. His hips and waist aren't too pronounced but he has a loosely "hourglass" shape, too, just not as exaggerated as Komaeda's in comparison.

- Gender-wise, I am EXTREMELY fond of transmasc Hinata. While I think I portray AMAB Hinata more than transmasc Hinata (in art and writing), I still firmly prefer transmasc Hinata. The reason I think portray otherwise more is just out of comfortability, but I've been getting better at comfortably portraying FTM Hinata. I have some reasons I prefer it and think you can extrapolate it from canon, but let's get into that

- Hinata, in my eyes, has an arc and story that fits perfectly into him just. Being trans. His desire to be someone else, someone better, someone he can proud of, and the way he overcompensates for himself and has an extreme inferiority complex would easily lend to him having similar feelings about his gender. To me, Hinata is a trans man who overperforms his masculinity out of insecurity and a need to pass. I see him as someone who would strictly use "he/him" in a western sense, which is lended to by his use of the "ore" pronoun in canon, which is almost hypermasculine.

- Even if he were AMAB, I think it still works, I think he's still someone who's insecure and tries to assert himself more strongly and therefore performs masculinity in a way to appear more confident than he is.

(side note: I actually read a bit about queerness in Japan and how it relates to gender performance and the use of pronouns, and read a bit about how queer women in japan tend to use "boku" and "ore" to perform masculinity, which I find neat. “Ore” was also sometimes used exclusively to show anger and dominance, which is why it's categorized as a "rough" pronoun. I think Japanese language, gender, and expression, and how those all relate to one another, are extremely interesting and if you get the time you should read about it lol)

- Body-wise, pre-despair, I think Hinata would. not have top surgery, obviously. I think he has a fairly average but leaning a little on the hefty side chest (pre-op) and binds it, hence the '91 cm' (but also he still has 91 cm post-op because bazongas). I also just think he leans on the "twunk" side of things at this point, not buff but not stick thin or without muscle, just kind of average with average strength and all, though I think Hinata would've tried to do sports and stuff to find his talent so he's in shape :)

- My personal, kind of amusing, but also kind of... thematical? Headcanon, is that during the Kamukura project, he also underwent gender transition. to be honest, while it may not make sense in modern Japan, I think we can suspend our disbelief for fiction, and also make the argument that Hinata's "transition" into Kamukura CAN be read, in some part, as relatable or at least familiar to the trans experience. Iit is not out of the realm of possibility, either, to assume that because many bits of society in Danganronpa are advanced (specifically science, is extremely ahead of our understanding, almost sci-fi like at times) certain attitudes about gender and sexuality can be smoothed over more in a Japanese context.

(side note: I also think that science-wise, we can suspend our disbelief, and assume that top surgery and bottom surgery are much more advanced in this universe, given the almost unbelievable levels of science in Danganronpa, such as memory wipe, mind control, completely realistic virtual simulation, um literally everything about Kamukura which is body modification and brain modification to an extreme, etc. I think it's kind of fitting within these to assume that... Hinata/Kamukura could just, gain a functioning penis, lol)

Kamukura:

- Kamukura would have a. "Perfect" body. it's stated, I'm pretty sure, that they modified not only his brain but his body, because he needs to be able to perform every talent under their belt with ease, and his strength, instincts, technique, are all superhuman. So it's clear to me he'd have a buff body. toned muscles and all. He wouldn't really feel a need to keep it up, though, but I think since they're very... artificial (basically fucking steroids?) they wouldn't fade from a lack of keep-up.

- Kamukura also rarely ever is injured, but when he does, his body heals rather fast and can care for himself adequately, because again, his body is modified to a point of almost inhumanity.

- Gender wise, Kamukura genuinely does not care. however, I am not one to think that Kamukura is "a different person" from Hinata, rather, he is separate from Hinata, but an extension of Hinata as well, proven that he experiences some of his emotions even if subconsciously and without understanding them. he isn't a different personality or person developed in Hinata's body, but a very traumatizing, repressed, and manipulated version of Hinata given a new name, with memories repressed. He's like Theseus's ship in human form---if you get rid of everything that makes someone themselves and replace it, bit by bit, is it the same person? Technically, yes, but... truly? Who knows.

Because of this, I think Kamukura would have a leaning toward masculine gender performance (in canon, in fact, he uses the soft masculine pronoun "boku" in stead of "ore" like Hinata) BUT I think he is still very nonbinary. In a western sense, i think he would use he/they pronouns, but not really care if someone mistook him for a woman, I suppose.

- His appearance, unironically, is very nonbinary or "he/they" to me because he's wearing a suit, the archetypal form of masculinity, but has extremely long hair, which is considered feminine, and speaks softly (dully). Of course, the bishounen "pretty boy" appearance isn't uncommon or considered less masculine in japan, I think, but there is still a different between soft masculinity and rough masculinity in japan, which lends itself to being interpreted sort of gender non-conforming by western audiences :)

- Kamukura, due to his apathy, struggles with self-maintaining, but as we all probably know i am extremely attached to KamuKoma and thus headcanon that Servant helps him, sort of like a royal servant would royalty in the old days, take care of himself by bathing him, brushing his hair out, grooming him, etc. partially out of duty, partially out of appreciation for Kamukura's body, and partially out of maintaining his sort of "perfect" look since Kamukura, especially post-Junko death, is perceived widely by the public as the new leader of the ultimate despair, even if he is ambivalent to such a title.

Post-DR3 Hinata/Kamukura combined:

As I rambled on about previously, I don't think that Kamukura and Hinata are separate people or personality, I really dislike the interpretation that they are like a "split personality" or operate like DID, because they do not "form" like DID, but also in canon, are not portrayed as separate people.

In post-dr3, Hinata instead says that he is both of them, because he is. Kamukura is Hinata, always was, but had been given a new, false identity, had been stripped of his previous self, his memories, his personality, and crafted into something new. but that did not "split" his brain into two people. It simply repressed who he once was, and made him someone he now was. But when Kamukura regains his memories, his past self, through the means of the new world program by restoring his own memories after SDR2 concludes and he wakes up, as well as doing the same for everyone else, he decides to be "Hajime Hinata" who he always was, but carrying and shouldering the weight of what "Izuru Kamukura" had been, become, and done. Hinata *is* Kamukura, he answers for Kamukura's wrongdoings, his crimes, as something he had done as a different person who's mind operated differently, due to being artificially suppressed, modified, into an apathetic tool for the scientists who made him, and later and aimless, bored individual who simply sought meaning he did not have in the unknown of what despair would be at it's climax. And if hope could overcome it.

As such, I think, when Hinata's self is brought back into the mix, and he now deals with Kamukura's apathy and boredom in part, but much less consuming and much less often, I think hinata is less staunchly "masculine", does not overperform it anymore, and is trying to understand what his past means to him, what his present is, and what his future will be. I think that Hinata would still primarily use he/him (or still use "ore" in Japanese, as it's also a means of his personality, which is a bit rough around the edges and blunt), but be more ambivalent to rigid gender expression, still finding comfort and idealness in masculinity, but not be made dysphoric or feel frightened, uncomfortable, with non-comformity or anything like that. being boyish, masculine, is what he enjoys, but he's comfortable in it now, doesn't need to prove himself or overperform it. He can explore nonconformity without feeling like his gender or masculinity is at threat, even if it's not his preference outright.

Body-wise, I think it's safe to say he retains Kamukura's muscle and all, but Kamukura didn't put much effort into the everyday machinations of being a human being in general, and Hinata is much more fond of food than him now, eats more often, and I enjoy the idea that he gains a little pudge and has a kind of "dad bod" almost, post-DR3? lol.

Both for Hinata and Kamukura I don't see their bodies as “bara” or overly buff, masculine, but a kind of comfortable middle ground between twunk and hunk, lmao. I think they're also averagely hairy, not overly so, very lightly. kind of well groomed, and all. Hinata, pre-despair, put not so much effort into his appearance but still some, especially in trying to pass. (In fact I think his hair cut looks like a home job, all choppy and stuff, which fits him in my opinion, something done by his own hands even if messy and imperfect, he still prefers to be in control of it. also fits the trans headcanon tehe).

Izuru put very little if any effort into himself, only the bare minimum necessary to function, but servant helped him upkeep it to a perfect standard. Hinata, post-dr3 now, finds himself putting you know, an average amount of care into himself and his body, enough to be healthy, but not overly critical and conscious of himself.

Komaeda i have always seen as someone who takes a good deal of care about himself, merely if to alleviate the "disgust" of his appearance and body, by practically preening himself. He is someone who is good at cleaning and seems to appreciate clean and well kept spaces, so I think he would have a similar attitude toward himself. even if he is insecure, and of course, struggles with mental health and may slip at times in his routine in keeping himself well-kept, I think he still maintains an appearance for the most part, at least in his later years (teen to young adult). An argument can be made that he cared less in his adolescence because he had much more apathy about the world, but when he gave himself a purpose with hope and talent, I think he would care for himself a little better, even if his was spiralling mentally.

His hair is always washed, it is just very curly and prone to mess, so it often looks like perpetual bedhead, even when he combs and brushes it. His skin is soft even if a little worn by his tendency for accidents & injury, it's still soft and almost luckily so, and he takes pride in moisturizing and cleaning himself. His skin is a little sickly, still, and I think that despite having blemishes, scars, etc. Komaeda manages to look pretty in a strange way, not conventionally beautiful, but almost ethereal? He's just *pretty*, there's no way to explain it, he is nice to look at even with all his "flaws" and imperfections. Even when he's sickly and bony, even when his cheeks are gaunt or his hands shaky and weak, when his hair is a tangled mess or his clothes are dirty, he's nice to look at in a way that's nonconventional, and it's sort of mesmerizing.

Hinata I think is very average but also in a way that's nice to look at it. He's not ground-breaking hot or conventionally attractive, he has a good body, a nice face, and hair you could play with a little if you wanted. I think what's appealing about him is his normalcy, he's not trying too hard or "gifted" gene wise, but he's just kinda nice to look at, he's enjoyable to be around, an understanding person, or at least tries to be even when he fails, and despite having flaws, insecurities, blunt, he is someone you're drawn to because he's one of those people that's just, easy to talk to? An emotional anchor, almost. The kind of guy everyone kind of knows and has talked to at least once, even if you're not friends with him personally, not because he's cool or popular or anything, but because he's a normal dude who's easy to trust and talk to.

Kamukura, on the other hand, is intimidating, appearance wise and personality wise. he looks, strange, anything but normal, his eyes are red and his hair is this dark cloud that envelops him. His face may still be that plain one Hinata has but faces can be changed by the surrounding attributes as well as expression and such is true for him, with his apathetic and cold expression as well as otherwordly characteristics, he comes off as much more beautiful in a dark way, kind of? In a way that's intimidating or a little daunting, but he's still very beautiful. mesmerizing.

Hi again ‘Purdy :) it’s pebblewhisper again. Your rabies wind clan pov sounds amazing bcz 1 windclan pov and 2. Harestar getting rabies. Could you remind me a bit on whistlepaw? I looked up the wiki and must be missing a puzzle piece in my brain because it is not clicking as there isn’t much info on her 😅. It could be because i am switching between time lines so often and the last thing i read was the last hope. What did you think of firestar’s death scene btw? Would love to hear how you felt when u first read it/how u feel about it now. I am reading the original guide secrets of the clans rn before bed and under thunderclan’s list of “significant medicine cats” it goes: cloudspots...featherwhisker, and spottedleaf. Um. UHM HELLO WHAT ABOUT GOOSEFEATHER?!?! What is this goosefeather erasure??? Excuuuse me!?! I turned to my bf and he says “maybe starclan didn’t want to include him because he was crazy”. 😭 Also i wish we knew more about him visiting w both star clan and the df. Wish that novella was a SE! Am i crazy but have we seen goosefeather in the afterlife? (Prologue or something in starclan?) I am fuzzy on goosefeather rn for some reason. Can only think of snippets while he is alive but not after his death. (Like is he only in starclan or does he appear in both places after he dies?) Hi again Pebblewhisper!

Whistlepaw hasn’t physically made an appearance yet they are a WindClan warrior apprentice (I think they’re supposed to be female but Kestrelflight referred to them as a male in the last book so for now gender fluid or trans Whistlepaw for the win lol), and basically in Darkness Within Kestrelflight talked about how he would like to take Whistlepaw on as an apprentice very soon since they seem interested in being a medicine cat - so hopefully we should get to meet Whistlepaw next book.

And yeah Firestar’s death scene - when I first read it was very sad and pretty cool and then was like “wait - that was a dick move for StarClan to drop a tree on him like that” and now although now apparently he was a gonner before the tree got dropped on him I still find it kind of funny how in my mind he wasn’t dying quick enough for StarClan so they dropped a tree on him to help speed up the process lol

Yeah this Goosefeather erasure is unacceptable- poor guy deserves better - and yeah I would have definitely been down for a Goosefeather SE rather than a novella - but I still do love the novella. About Goosefeather being in StarClan I did have to check up on that because I wasn’t 100% sure but he does appear in StarClan in Bluestar’s Prophecy and The Last Hope.

To be honest I imagine Breezepelt with rabies might not be too different lol. But yeah Harestar could have easily got infected a while ago and not noticed so this mysterious disease could seem like it comes out from nowhere I wouldn’t be surprised if the cats thought that StarClan had cursed Harestar - and even if Harestar loses a life and becomes fine, if he bit or scratched anyone they could potentially start showing symptoms after a few weeks leading to even more panic - and since it has such a long incubation period in cases maybe there could be paranoia growing in WindClan over who would show signs and when with cats turning on each other and trying to isolate to avoid being infected - and maybe a small group could turn to a more extreme version of their religion to try and appease StarClan so they can be spared from their apparent wrath. And since rabies has no cure once it’s symptomatic I can’t imagine how desperate and despairing Kestrelflight and Whistlepaw could get. And maybe if news spreads of this disease the other Clans could think that WindClan is cursed? Rabies could genuinely be so interesting

Review: Peace Talks

First Read Through Reaction

Now staring off, knowing that the book was essentially part one of two did mean that I went in expecting that there would be plot lines that wouldn’t be resolved. I did NOT expect that nearly zero of the plot lines would be resolved, at all. Yikes. Now, I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy it. I did. But it felt like there were 50 to 60 pages missing that should have been in the story to at least wrap up minor plot lines before heading into ‘Battle Ground’.

Warning: Full of Spoilers

Such the arrival of the Outsiders those Cornerhounds. Um… Outsiders and at no point that Harry wonder why in the hell they were called to Chicago? Or why they were targeting him and Ebenezer. Seriously, unless the author totally forgot we know that Outsiders can only be called by mortals. So human wizards brought them. So was it someone in the ‘Black Council’ or was it the Formor, since we know from previous stories that they grab humans and mind-whammy them and also modify them. And we know that they’ve been pretty focused on grabbing minor practioners for a couple of years now.

Hell, even just knowing why Thomas attacked the svartalf King would have been good to know in the book even if we don’t find out who it was yet.

That being said lets start of with things I didn’t like.

Thing Which I Wasn’t All that Pleased About:

1. Butters in that threesome relationship.

Now, let me explain, it’s not because its a poly relationship. I don’t even twitch over how Justine and Thomas include others in the sexual part of their relationship. It’s because I kept wondering if Marci was even into dudes. As far as I knew she was only into girls. And now she’s suddenly bi?

What the hell?

I think my reaction has a lot to do with how skewed the sexual orientation gradient in shown among Named characters. You have straight men. Straight women. Bi women who are shown to be blatantly into men and women…and that’s it, now.

No lesbian women with zero interest in men. No bi men. No gay men. No asexual characters. No trans characters. No gender fluid people.

I know that this due to the author’s eye and while it hasn’t irritated me much in the past as we keep getting more and more books with more newly introduced characters the lack is becoming more and more glaring to me. Especially, as I have drifted into reading other series that manage to be way more inclusive about this sort of thing in great and amazing ways *sighs happily over Rivers of London series*. And I don’t just mean in passing with random nameless scenery people that never talk which have popped up in the Dresden Files but with actual characters that have names, dialogue and contribute to the series.

So it really, really annoys me that Marci went from being the only lesbian who is a named character to joining the horde of bi women in the DF verse.

Okay, so its not really a Butters issue to much as a grumble about the spectrum of gender and sexually needing better representation.

*grumbles* Step up your game, Butcher.

I will add that I’m head-canoning that actually the relationship here is Butters with Andi, Andi with Butter and Marci, and Marci with Andi. That pretty much with Butters running around being the new Knight Andi didn’t like how her boyfriend wasn’t paying attention and gave Butters the ultimatum of letting Marci in as Andi’s girlfriend or they broke up.

… yeah, I’m totally liking that spin way, way better.

2. That Marcone took forever to show up! ARGH! I love him ok.

Considering how early he was name dropped in the story the amount of time it took him to show up… Jim Butcher is a damn Marcone-tease. *glares hotly in author’s direction*

3. I don’t like it that Murphy is so hurt. I don’t hate it. I think I’m just uneasy about the future implications.

Having reread the entire series before reading ‘Peace Talks’ I fully expected some lingering injury but not to that level. I’m actually worried about her chances of surviving any upcoming battle, and not just in Battle Ground. There’s even more danger coming down the pipeline in future books and she won’t let herself stay ‘safe’ when she could be watching Harry’s back… so its a worrying problem.

Now if she died I have no doubt that her being recruited to be a Valkerie is an option. But then I remembered how those warrior women go out into the world with ‘clients’ and of the two we’ve seen they’ve been attached to ‘monsters’ aka Lara and Marcone.

Unless, the payment isn’t cash and she can be attached to Harry. *hums in thought*

But then I have to wonder how much Murphy would accept that role. She’s also a pretty devout Catholic as this book reminded us so that is also something that would make her say no to the offer.

4. That the younger Wardens who had so looked up to Harry being so damned suspicious… ow. That hurt. I may have teared up and sniffled into a tissue thinking about it. And then sobbed because so much of it came from Carlos… Carlos! The man went into the Deeps with Harry! Ouch.

5. Rudolph… that roach.

Ugh, I’ve had the disturbing thought that now that magic and the supernatural on the path to being exposed to all of humanity, scared humanity too, that will end up with a resurgence of a new Inquisition and the killing of anything eldritch. And you know that Rudolph would definitely be in it. *shudders in disgust* Creep.

BTW I totally don’t believe that Rudolph answers to Marcone. It doesn’t make sense as to why he was so pushy go get Harry during ‘Changes’. I had thought he was answering to the Red Court but with them being taken out of the picture… now I wonder if he isn’t answerable to the Black Council.

Things I Did Not Expect:

1. Damn… when Ebenezer sent that spell through Harry and ‘killing’ I was so shocked even though I was pretty sure there was a twist coming. Mostly because of what it says about Ebenezer.

Ebenezer actions killed Harry.

Sure it was a fake body that brought no harm to the real Harry. But if Harry hadn’t thought ahead? If he hadn’t used his brain to ask Molly to create a fake? Eb would have killed his own grandson.

Sure it was an accident but it could so easy have resulted in a dead Harry. I was crying so hard I wondered if my eyeballs were loosening in their sockets. Argh.

2. Bonea…. Harry your naming skills are simply weird. I’m so glad that Susan named Maggie.

Although Bonnie is a pretty great nickname.

Thinks I Found Utterly Hilarious

1. The line about the best offense being a T-Rex? Gold. Pure gold.

2. When Harry figured out there are angels in the hilt of the Swords of the Cross and Butter’s immediate reaction of horror because he’d accidentally laundered the hilt, giving it a ride in a washing machine.

OMG! I had the instant image of a miniature angel screaming and growing dizzy when going through the spin cycle.

I know that makes no sense but that’s where my mind went, okay.

3. The conjuritis. Omg, it’s so gross with all the ectoplasm leaking from Harry’s nose but it’s sooooo funny. Also the way he kept getting the ‘aren’t you too old for this’ from Ebenezer and then Lara made me giggle even harder.

Then I thought: dude, it’s like chicken pox, something you got as a kid but if you never had it you get it when exposed later in life. So one of his kids has it. Probably Maggie too.

4. When Sanya pretended to have his hand lopped off. I straightened up and was so worried Sanya had lost a hand. Then when I realized he was pretending to freak out Butters and Harry I admit to laughing way too hard. Got me too.’

Also there’s no way that Sanya was actually defeated there. He’s younger and better trained then Butters, I don’t care how light (Heh) the new sword is. He definitely threw that fight to test his hunch.

5. Murphy’s inability to handle being flirted on with a red-headed warrior woman. Sooooo funny. I mean, Murphy could have said a number of things such as ‘I’m exclusive.’ or ‘I’m not interested in women.’ But she just floundered. Heh heh.

6. I continue to find it completely hilarious that Lara, a couple of centuries old vampire, seems to keep learning a lot of power moves from Marcone.

Things I Really, Really Liked:

1. Marcone. Everything Marcone. *heart-eyes*

And then he proves why he’s so damned scary by standing up to the Titan. Then to the ghouls. Then after proving his bad-ass quotient if off the charts he gets everyone organized to fight.

Yeeessss… It proves to me that when it comes to protecting Chicago he is actually the best person after Harry. Hell, in some ways he’s better than Harry. Now, I’m not saying he’s a white knight or anything like that. Just that he has the intelligence, the ruthlessness, the will, the power and the men to provide the most protection to the city’s mortal denizens. At least when there’s a war raging with multiple enemies who will be attacking at various points.

And oh, I can’t wait to see how he’s going to get revenge for the death of his people. Omg, he’s going to kill the Formor so hard. *goes starry eyed thinking about more Marcone*

But why did he have to appear so late in the book?! *wails in a heart-rending fashion*

There better be a ton more Marcone in the next book! *makes desperate gimme gimme hands*

No, I don’t have a Marcone addiction… I can stop anytime I want to. *sneaks off to mainline some “Even Hand” straight into the brain*

2. The return of Goodman Grey! Oh, I hope he’s around a lot! I’ve really grown to like him.

<b>Things Which Blew My Mind or Were Just Freaking Awesome: </b>

1. Dad!Harry is actually the most amazing Harry. Forget the magic flinging and the fire storms… this is the best Harry.

Just the way he takes care of his kids…. *turns to mush like ectoplasm*

2. Murphy and Harry are finally together! Yay! Yay! Hip hip hooray!

Now, I’m a rather shameless Marcone/Dresden fic writer, but as I never ever expect this to be canon I’m content to write it as fanfic for my own sense of delight. However when it comes to canon I’m full on board with the Karrin and Harry relationship. Be it friendship or romantic, I think its great.

3. Marcone… that is all.

Random Speculation

1. I find myself wondering about Ebenezer’s rage against vampires. And my brain muttered this theory: Maybe Harry’s grandmother was killed by White Court vampires.

Whoa.

It would explain the vitrolic rage.

And if Lara was involved it would also explain her flash of shame.

We don’t know anything about Harry’s grandmother, not even her name. So… that’s a thought.

2. River Shoulders teaching Harry.

Oh man, oh man, I hope Harry learns shape-shifting.

And thinking about it I had to wonder if the animal-shifting had anything to do with knowing the animal in question which of course made me think…

Harry should learn to shape-shift into a T-Rex.

He already knows how one is put together and the mind of one. And he knows that it’s possible to add extra mass to a shift from the Nevernever in the form of ectoplasm… so

Harrysarous Rex, baby…. I may have to write a fic with this premise.

3. Oh, if it’s possible to make a ectoplasmic body can Harry learn to make one for Bonea? After all Maggie would probably really enjoy getting to play with her little sister that way. Even if Harry can’t do it all the time and it wouldn’t last longer than a day. That would be delightful.

4. Okay, not this is more head-canon than speculation but… considering how hard Harry has been made to be analogous to Merlin I can’t help but wonder if Marcone is suppose to be Arthur’s analogue. So wielding Amorrachius *coughs*Excalibur*coughs* would make sense.

…it’s not just my Marcone-love talking dammit.

Speaking of Merlin, I’m convinced that he’s behind this whole ‘starborn’ thing. Seriously, otherwise its way too convenient that a wizard with that power is born every 666 years. It smacks of a spell.

And if that’s the case it also feeds into my pet theory that the whole reason we have Outsides at the Gates is because Merlin was the schmuck who drew them to our reality in the first place. And everything surrounding the war with the Outsiders are his attempts to try to fix what he broke.

Things I Have Questions About

1. Did Harry forget he has The Ways Map from his mother? I would have thought he would have figured out a way (heh) to get to the island somehow. He was on it for so long I thought for sure he’d spend time exploring it. Also we knew from ‘Skin Game’ that even tiny factors can change where the Way goes in the Nevernever. I doubt the ENTIRE island has Ways that lead to a bad place. Especially for Harry now that he’s the Warden.

2. Also why didn’t Harry get Lea to help him? After all unless she’s moved it since ‘Changes’ her garden is still on the other side of the sub-basement.

3. What did Lara use that first favor from Mab on? *eyes her suspiciously*

4. Where are the Za Lord’s Guard? *wondering about what been happening with Lacuna and Toot-toot*

5. If Harry gets kicked out of the White Council (good riddance, since they haven’t exactly been all that helpful lately) can he get enough signatures to be added as a member of the Accords in his own right? After all being Warden of Demonreach has got to mean a lot to the older members.

Then he wouldn’t be reliant on Mab’s protection.

I can’t help but hope this proves to be the case, especially if in ‘Battle Ground’ Harry ends up taking down that Titan. Because he needs as much protection and influence he can gather if he’s no longer White Council to protect himself, his people and his kids. Especially if he eventually gets rid of that Winter Knight mantle like I hope he does.

6. How in the hell (pardon the pun) did evil demon Sasquatch survive being turned to mush by Hade’s Ice Gate? Or the shades that were part of the security system that almost got Harry?

*frowns* The only reason I can think of would be the coin of Ursiel being the factor. I doubt a Fallen Angel is allowed to stick around in the Greek realm of the afterlife.

so um i’m not sure if i’m bi or straight like could a lil attraction to women be like a phase or smth? i just can’t rly identify and i’m struggling for almost half a year now, i just don’t know what can i do to help myself find who i am(??) thought maybe u could give a piece of advice? btw is it possible i’m just convincing myself that i like women too and i rly don’t? idk i’m so lost rly

it honestly depends! attraction is pretty fluid, so it is possible that you may like women now but end up not liking them at all later- but whether or not your attraction changes later on, if you think you are attracted to girls right now, u can use bi! theres not really any use worrying if its "just a phase," bc even when things are a phase, the feelings in the moment are real and valid!

if youre unsure on if youre even attraction to girls, theres also things u could maybe use for now like heteroflexible or bihet to say you like guys but could Maybe be into girls (bihet is also reclaimed by some to be used as bi with a preference for the opposite gender!). or simply "questioning bi" could be the actual label you use for now!

for figuring out if you like women or not: from my experience it just took some time, i think i was questioning for like a year or two (not like super actively the whole time tho) before i solidly came to a conclusion about being bi- and getting crushes on girl friends and girl characters and actively identifying those feelings, and generally thinking on it often, was kinda just all it was for me. i highly doubt that you could just be convincing yourself that you like girls, but i dont have the most experience with that sorta stuff so i cant really say for sure! but if you think you may like girls, i think that tends to be a clear indicator that you likely do.

i guess the most i can say is just take your time, and maybe try to compare any feelings you have to girls to any crushes you know youve had on guys, maybe experiment with fantisizing about favorite girl characters/celebrities/etc and see if it feels right? idk! im sorry im not really the best with advice, but i hope any of this helps even a bit at least !!!

This is Jade, I got redo the ref cause it's only but he looks the same.

And this is Cyno (Key-no), his ref is fine but I put the wrong gender sign. Just to clarify, he's not gender fluid he's a they/them that's fine with being referenced to as a he/him but hates being called a she/her.

There’s quite a lot of homophobia, yeah. Sad trombone noise. :( Simon sure came from a community that was largely homophobic which took him a lonnnnnnng time to unpack. He didn’t even realize how much of it he had internalized!!! I think that is why it took him so long to realize he was into knife lmfao. (and that he was also interested in nail, he just rly didnt get it. i dont think he ever realized that he had a huge crush on nail even to this day. oops.) Homophobia in hekaton communities def clashes with worm ones tho. Worms obviously are very fluid with their genders since they do not generally apply to binary constructs. they dont even think of those much rly. they’re dumb and worms are BEYOND such things. And even when they sorta appear that they do apply to the rules, they generally are also attracted to the same things they themselves look like, so they generally appear very gay. they are gay. are straight worms even possible?? i dont know....... that feels almost too difficult to pinpoint what a worm is besides being a worm. and anyway the more a worm tries to be ‘human’ the more they’ll prob adopt the bad opinions on gender and sexuality, lets gesture over to dylan as a wonderful example of Worm With The Anxiety™. so like worms and hekatons will usually get in debates and dislike eachothers opinions on things. Worms also just dislike hekatons b/c they smell bad to them and they cannot eat hekatons. But they will obvs work together w/ them on the war against humans. its a business thing. and when humans are dead they’re ttly gonna fight eachother next, probably. weeds and robots roll their eyes in the corner of the room as everyone forgets they exist. Hekatons generally see worms as freaky sexual deviants and if ur a hekaton that sleeps w/ a worm ur probably gay or desperate or WORSE..a DESPERATE gay. Its generally more socially acceptable to sleep w/ humans b/c thats like, dominating and TTLY WINNING the war. high five my dudes. heh!! pwned!! Pirate hekatons are prob the most vile in this regard. Please do not be a human and come across a pirate ship of hekatons. u do not want that. for real. pirate hekatons are nasty and are the reason hekatons get a bad rep lol. Ofc all above is more in reference to hekaton communities outside of the ghost kingdom. In the ghost kingdom, hekatons r socially more accepted to be bisexual and women especially are generally encouraged to have more than one partner. (however communication and healthy relationships is very important n ppl do not tolerate cheating at all. that is super horrible.) So while homophobia isn’t really as much of a thing there. However, There’s still pretty deep issues w/ transphobia and pushing heks to fulfill + conform certain gender roles. :/ Which is a huge reason why locket actually found it..ummm... refreshing to leave??? even though he got exposed to another culture of intense fucked up issues, he does feel a bit more hope b/c worms sorta seem to get it a little better..? (altho honestly, worms kind of just dont think about these things the same way so it can be just as difficult to talk to them abt it. they dont have patience to understand!!!!! who cares about labels!!!!!!! words r stupid!!! UGH im HUNGRY) Locket’s just......optimistically hopeful ok??????? he rly wants to meet another trans hekaton or trans human or trans ANYTHING for real. besides his evil murder dad, which he doesnt want to relate to but can’t help it cuz who the fuck else is there. hello??? he needs more positive/healthy #lgbtrepresentation in his life. he did not expect homophobia to be a thing, btw, that was a pretty upsetting aspect of leaving home. that kinda rattled him for a bit b/c now he feels very insecure over openly expressing his interest in dudes lol. SEASON 4 THOUGHTS!! *SPOILERS*

OMG OMG OMG!! I said it in my last post but I’m so satisfied, like I’ve never been this satisfied with a graduating class like ever!

Okay so first off Grace and Jonah, love them. I totally shipped them I mean they are literally perfect for each other.. but omg Jonah is a baby father who saw that coming?! not me! and I’m super curious about where this child is… Idk about you guys but it gave me major shane (from djh) vibes/ deja vu.

Anyway Shay and Tiny… um can you say obsessed? Love seeing a functional relationship on degrassi especially where the couple has sex and its actually positive ‘cus you know that does happen guys.. lol and Shay looked super bomb for prom, like amazing!

Okay so if you guys follow my page and read my text posts you know I literally wanted nothing more that Zaya to be endgame right, but I love how it ended. It was perfect. Maya is in recovery and Zig literally just ended things with Esme (don’t even get me started on that btw). It’s obvious the chemistry and the love is still there and I have faith they’ll eventually end up together and I think they need to work on themselves individually and to be honest while I watched the first couple eps I was like Zaya who? lol I think I just love Maya. She’s one of my favorite characters ever and sometimes I even think she’s too good for Zig.

Zoe omg. I never thought I would like love Zoe but she’s on of my favs and one of the most memorable for me omg I’m so happy for her! She found love and even though her mom doesn’t support her, (super real for degrassi writers to put that in btw happens to a lot of members of the LGBTQ community) she is still true to her self, happy and has what seems to be life long friends *ugly cries* prom queen, valedictorian, list goes on wow so proud

Super sad to see Rasha and Goldi goooooooo like I fell in love with Rasha’s character just like everyone else last season and Goldi’s character this season. That attack scene was so intense, had me super emotional guys! And obviously I ship Winston and Goldi, so cute!

TRILES! I’m beyond satisfied about Triles too can’t believe it but we all know they were kinda toxic. Neither of them put themselves first in the relationship, but maybe in the future—fingers crossed. and Tristan peeing on miles super embarrassing but moving on…

Yael, maybe I was just super emotional while watching (very possible) but their story made me cry so much and, Lola by their side is just friendship goals. Am I right? Their (Yael) story was really educational actually. I’m sure a lot of people, including myself, had no idea what being “gender fluid” even is and I think Jaime did a great job portraying that POV.

Hunter has just been Hunter I guess, didn’t expect anything different. I guess I can say at least his character is consistent. How ironic was it that he was questioning Saad tho? lol

Speaking of Saad, omg so adorable. I like his character. He’s one of the few guys at degrassi who genuinely respects women and I have just noticed how adorable he is, like physically I mean, he has like really sweet eyes.. anyway him and Lola. How cute?! Can you say sooo over Mola? Lola is quickly becoming my new favorite character. I’ve always liked her but she’s come a long way you know, she not super ditzy anymore. Thank God. Maybe the whole abortion thing matured her.. how funny was it when she told Frankie and Shay it was Miles’s?

Frankie, my original fav has definitely gone down on the scale like what’s up Franks? The throple thing is something I’d happily never mention again if no one else does. I’m actually ashamed that Frankie (and Zig!) were even apart of that. That’s no shade to the throples out there! I’m just pretty sure they didn’t do it right lol

and finally Esme, Esme, Esme, you didn’t graduate so your day will come. You’ll be the next Zoe one day but that day is not today. I’m rooting for you but as of right now I don’t like you very much. I mean anyone who gets in the way of Zaya is an enemy of mine but tainting innocent Frankie is where I draw the line. LOL no but seriously, I’m excited to see where her character goes and amazing acting on Chelsea Clark’s part btw

Overall, amazing season! I’m going to miss everyone like CRAZY you guys don’t even understand. These characters were the babies and now they’ve graduated and I’m happy and sad all at once! (They could’ve mentioned Cam at graduation btw!) I think I’ve covered it all but I’ll update with more thoughts when they come.. Thanks for listening !
