Have you ever thought that during Kagura's feigned illness arc, if she had really died, Umibozu wouldn't have been present at her funeral? Even though it was a state funeral, it seems he was unaware, and not even Gintoki or Shinpachi knew how to contact him...

( Honestly, since i had finished rewatching banana fish with my brother this morning, it's making me wish more anime portrayed mental illness, trauma and grief, and actually did it well. )

like: i´m reading the manga and read kaguras wonderful letter she wrote to her dad. I read the interaction between gintoki and umibozu and how much gintoki wants a dad like him. i really wanted to hug him there when he said it.
and then you come to the last page and somebody asks sorachi how much hair he has on his ass.
