LIE DETECTOR TEST : ISAGI YOICHI
Tumblr media
⊹ summary : the blue lock boys are invited to take a lie detector test, but they’ve got to answer twitter’s unfiltered questions
⊹ pairing : isagi yoichi x reader (established relationship)
⊹ wc : 543
⊹ warnings : reader is referred to as “girl” with she/her pronouns, suggestive, mentions of oral sex, if I’m missing something pls lmk!! MINORS DNI
⊹ A/N : this is a repost from my prev blog bc i wanna continue this series and i cant post the next part without the context from this one so if it looks familiar, thats why. ALSO if anyone has a reblog of bachira's part somewhere pls send me the link!!
⊹ bachira’s version | kunigami’s version
Tumblr media
“Ready?”
“Yeah, let’s do this”
“@/isagisbbybgrl asks How big is your dick?”
Isagi had practically choked on his own spit at the question.   “Wha—why is this the first question?!”
“I’m just reading out what Twitter wants to know?”, the interviewer laughs at the shock in his face. “Now answer the question.”
Isagi, Kunigami and Bachira were currently sat side by side across from their interviewer. They had been invited to guest star on LockX , one of the most popular podcasts to date relating to everything and anything Blue Lock. And today they were asked to answer a few fan questions from Twitter all while hooked up to a lie detector. Up first was Isagi, who looked like he was already regretting coming today.
“Like 10 inches” he sighed out. All heads turned to the polygraph examiner— Milo was his name.
“There’s no way—“
“Truth”
Bachira laughs out at Kunigami’s disbelief while the latter mumbles to himself. Something about not believing it till he sees it himself.
“Wait, now I’m curious” Bachira scooted forward and turned to Isagi. “How much of it does your girl take in her mouth?
“What the fuck Megs? Nope. I’m not talking about Y/N here. Not like that.”
“Sorry to break it to you, but more than half these Twitter asks are about her,” the interviewer adds.
“Come onnnn Yoichi”
“Fine. All of it. Next question”
“Milo?”
“He’s telling the truth” Milo nods back, while the room fills with whistles and cheers to Isagi, who’s hidden his face behind a hand but can’t help the proud smirk that grows on his face at the thought of you taking all of him.
“Okay okay” the interviewer laughs before he directs his next question, “User @/mysagiballs asks where is your favorite place to kiss a partner?”
“Hey at least this one’s not about Y/N”
“Ehh it technically is,” Bachira counters.
“It basically is,” Isagi sighs once again, finally accepting that this is what the rest of the interview will be like. “Her lips, that’s my favorite place to kiss her”
“He’s lying.”
“Wha- No I’m not!”
“Another lie”
“I feel like of all the questions you’ve been asked, this is the most mild.” Kunigami speaks up.
“But you’re lying about it, which means there’s something juicy you’re hiding” Bachira teases.
“Fine, her cheek”
“Still lying”
“Seriously Milo!”
This continues on for a few minutes, Isagi calling out a bodypart and Milo calling out his bullshit.
Her neck. Lie. Her shoulders. Lie. Her hands. Lie.
Meanwhile Bachira and Kunigami have practically fallen off the sofa in tears, laughing at how frustrated Isagi grows with every call of his bluff.
“Between her legs, alright?! I’m not getting any more specific than that. You can figure the rest out yourselves I’m sure”, he glares at Milo as he grumbles out his final answer.
“That was the…truth”
It takes a few moments for Bachira to calm down from his hysterics but then he’s teasing Isagi for being so naughty, giggling at the sight of his friend aggressively ripping off the cuffs and sensors connecting him to the polygraph.
“Yeah yeah, laugh all you want now but you’re going next.” Isagi grins at him, excited to see his friend suffer the same as he did.

CONEY ISLAND | cl16 —THE PRELUDE.
series masterlist
summary —an article on y/n l/n and all that entails.
WHO IS Y/N L/N? by Louise Kelly
April 29th 2017.
By now, everyone and their mother has heard the name Y/n L/n. With the awards and the acclaims, it's a surprise to find that she isn't an old Hollywood legend, but instead an 19 year old girl with raw, unfiltered talent.
Although, as brilliant as L/n's work is, many fans and followers have noticed a distinct pattern in her projects: she releases something legendary (i.e. an Academy Award for directing after her debut, topping charts with her first album, etc.) and ghosts all media for six months minimum before returning with another knockout. This reputation has lead many tabloids and reporters to refer to her as "Star" an abbreviated version of what was "The Shooting Star" in reference to the fleeting moments of brightness of her career.
Many people over the years have speculated that this nature has been brought on by a lack of media privacy, as paparazzi and obsessive fans alike tracked her down and documented what was near to her every move in the two years before she began her complete media lockdown—outside of promotions, of course.
Due to this private nature of hers, there's a lot of room for speculation when it comes to her life—something news outlets and tabloids such as enews and entertainment weekly have taken advantage of too many times to count over the years by starting rumors and spreading gossip through clickbaited headlines.
In fact, most things people have come to know for certain about the young woman are through speeches she makes or posts from her friends and family's accounts.
In her 2013 Oscar acceptance speech, she went out of her way to thank her mother and brothers, saying they were the only reason she was standing there and their support meant more than any award ever could. Since then, she's never skipped a chance to praise and credit them for her success.
She has also spoken very fondly of her boyfriend and racing car driver, Charles Leclerc, with whom she's been dating for little over three years and grew up living beside. While she does not credit him by name in her speeches, she often dedicates her awards to "her love". Because of this, most information on the pair's relationship has come through both party's instagram accounts, and the accounts of their friends.
Y/n's closest friend, Amalie Billard, has been the public's window into the life of L/n, sharing sweet and funny moments through Instagram stories and posts. Amalie herself is a photographer who grew up with Y/n and has worked closely with her since an internship and ELLE magazine two years ago. Y/n has been the subject of a vast majority of Billard's work and has said that she "feels more comfortable around Amalie than she has with anyone else in the industry and treasures that bond greatly."
Gossip and drama aside, Y/n has build up an impressive reputation in the world's of cinema and music. She has won a total of 5 Academy Awards; Best Leading Actress (2012), Best Supporting actress (2014), Best Leading Actress (2016), Best Director (2017), Best Supporting Actress (2017). And has one 4 Grammys for her music; Pop Solo Performance (2014), Pop Vocal Album (2014), New Artist (2014), Best Alternative Music Album (2017).
She's been praised by some of Hollywood's greatest over the years for both her work ethic and work itself. "She's an incredibly talented young woman who has the sort of grace you'd see in Old Hollywood and the humour you wish you'd see in everyone now. She's truly a great role model for all—young and old." Said Meryl Streep in an interview for "Call for me", a film that she and Y/n starred in in 2015.

Michael Sheen has explained that his upcoming BBC special The Assembly is "extraordinary."
The show, based on the format of France's Les Rencontres du Papotin, sees Sheen interviewed by a group 35 people who are neurodivergent, autistic, or have learning disabilities. The official synopsis says that "no subject is out of bounds, no question is off the table."
"I said yes to being a part of The Assembly because it was just such an extraordinary and interesting idea," Sheen said.
"Then reading about the original French series, it just sounded so extraordinary, different and potentially a very revealing way to approach the tried and tested interview process, but obviously it is a lot more than just being an interview.
"The interview part of it is just one aspect of the project and I think there is still a lot of confusion, ignorance and fear around people with any kind of difference. I think being able to be involved in a project like this could maybe break down some of those barriers."
He called the "unfiltered" nature of the show both "exciting and quite nerve-wracking", comparing it to how on The One Show stars can go from speaking about their latest project to their favourite bus route or their opinions on otters.
"I imagine it will be very funny and I think quite moving," Sheen concluded. "I was quite moved at times by seeing how much people had to struggle to overcome certain things they were dealing with in order to ask questions at times.
"That was uplifting. I think it will be different, it will be thought provoking I hope, and challenging in certain ways; challenging certain kinds of myths and stereotypes."
The original French version had featured multiple actors being interviewed, as well as astronaut Thomas Pesquet and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Savitar (Flash) : Fanfiction - Chapter 1
Tumblr media
There was a part of you that never thought such a thing would be possible.
Barry Allen was not a villain.
Far from it.
He’d save so many people. So when this villain showed up, none of you thought this would be the result. The enemy you’d been facing for the last couple weeks was..
“Barry..”
His face was scarred, but it was him.
Your chest felt tight and the realization of what was to come hurt.
Savitar was going to kill Iris. Barry was going to lose the love of his life to a version of himself.
The tragedy of it all is that you weren’t like the rest of them. You weren’t a speedster. You weren’t any kind of meta for that fact.
The team was regrouping, because the day was here. The day Iris should have been destined to die.
You sat with her that evening as Barry and the others ran back and forth trying to figure out what to do.
“It’s a bit crazy isn’t it. I should be scared, terrified. But I’m more worried about Barry.” You smiled at the statement.
“Occupational hazard.” You joke.
Your knees were bouncing, and Iris could clearly see your unease.
“(Y/N), are you alright.”
You stopped the action, looking at her.
“I could be imagining things but you’ve been acting strange since we found out about Savitar. If there’s something you need to talk about you can tell me.”
Her words were good to hear, but you couldn’t bring yourself to say what you’ve been keeping to yourself since you became a member of Team Flash.
“I’m scared.”
It wasn’t the whole truth, but it wasn’t a lie either.
“We’ll figure it out. We always do.”
That’s what she said.
For a moment you really did convince yourself that she was right. That magically everything would just work out. But faith was cruel. Because you all stood as Savitar held Iris in his hands, ready to strike.
His voice was like a tremor that just rocked your body with pain.
“You will feel the pain I endured losing my love, losing everything.”
Barry’s face held nothing but unfiltered despair, and you screamed out for Savitar to freeze, you were at the side, gun drawn. It seemed to egg him on.
“Do you think bullets will stop me?”
He sounds amused. Your hands were shaking, and Iris’s breath was unsteady.
“You say that we don’t understand how you felt. That it’s impossible for us to know what it’s like to feel so much for someone and never have them. But I do..I know..”
Savitar didn’t move, and you could see Joe on the roof, ready to fire if needed. No one was moving. Barry’s eyes moved to your form.
“I remember when we first met. I remember when I ran into you on that train and you spent the first five minutes apologizing. I barely heard a word because you were talking so fast. I should have been furious, you’d spilled my coffee all over the new suit I bought for an interview.”
The memory feels as though it’s clear as day.
“All I could do was smile at you and try to reassure you that it was okay. That everything was okay.”
Maybe he’s actually listening to the words you're saying, because his hand seems to lower.
“I know you’re a major nerd, and you would spend your afternoons watching every episode of Dr. Who if it were possible.” You move closer, lowering the gun in your hand.
“You once stayed up with me until two in the morning to help me study for my finals. Even though you were exhausted from taking tests all afternoon to pass your own exams. You sacrificed your sleep to help me."
The gun drops from your hand, and when you’re right next to Iris, you hesitantly reach for his hand. Iris moves to the side when you take his hand, and Barry is at her side in an instant, standing in front of her protectively. She dives into his arms, and when you know she’s safe, you turn back to Savitar. His suit is still glowing that dangerous blue. You should be petrified, but you haven’t released your hold on his hand.
“You would never hurt the people you care about, no matter how much you endured. I know you suffered a lot, but you need to realize that there is someone who still cares. Because regardless of what you’ve done. You’re still the nerdy guy I know. The guy that I..that I’ve always been in love with.” You confess.
The statement catches everyone off guard.
You’re shocked when Savitar takes a step back. Instinctively, you try to reach out for his hand, a desperate attempt to hold him.
Save him.
But he’s gone in the blink of an eye.
All you feel is that pain that appeared when he first showed up.

AMC IWTV PILOT THOUGHTS, mostly critical, mostly unfiltered, bear with me if I phrase something clumsily
Calling the original interview (which they're implying is the original book, somehow, even if it didn't get published in this universe) "a fever dream told to an idiot" makes me want to 1v1 the showrunner. It's so disrespectful that everyone watching with me had a simultaneous "dude, bad look" moment.
The lore changes are honestly baffling. Loved Louis saying "it was my last sunrise" while doing a 10AM interview behind tinted windows. Why get rid of the death sleep! It's such a big thing! (Why do they still sleep in coffins in this, actually? I wonder if they'll explain next episode?)
Stealing the hover bite pseudo-sex from the 94 movie but making it way less hot in spite of the full ass? Also awkward. I liked the thumb bite, that was kinda hot, but the rest of the scene was… like a worse version of another scene in the movie! The one where they share the girl at the play! The blocking was even the same, but their positions were switched. Odd choice to reference it so heavily when they're claiming to be so much more faithful.
The dialogue was… not good. Anytime something was almost subtle, they made sure to have another character say something to undercut it. It doesn't feel like a show that trusts its audience to handle nuance or complexity.
BRO THE SHITBOX SCENE???? Why was that even there! It was so vulgar and crass and unnecessary and I don't know what it added other than showing what Louis has to deal with in his demeaning life, but between that and Lestat killing Lily, I'm pretty unhappy with the brothel material so far. And hearing the N word ten minutes in was jarring. Not sure RJ was more qualified to write this than he was the plantation storyline.
Lestat CONSTANTLY infodumped about his backstory, but not in a way that allowed any other characters to interestingly or meaningfully react to it, which was so frustrating. He told Louis more about his past before making him in this episode than he did during all of Interview, but there was zero emotional weight to it. It felt more like Rolin Jones trying to prove he read the books by throwing in easter eggs. Look! Lestat is mentioning that he composed this song for a violinist he knew! Ignore how nonchalant he sounds while saying it and how totally meaningless that is to Louis, our point of view character! It's there for the audience, but what does it mean to Louis? Textually, nothing. I'm devastated, as someone who's made her hobby trying to write those specific reveals. It was just… there.
And as someone with a PhD in Loustat, their interactions didn't feel authentic to me. Lestat's speech in the cathedral was so weird. He fell for Louis because he saw him threatening Paul with a knife in the street, and he interrupts Paul's funeral to neg Louis for ghosting him after they fucked, which is pretty awful even for Lestat — who should understand grief! He fell for Louis in the book because he was mourning Paul so intensely, and his sensitivity and strong (if hypocritical) moral center intrigued him.
Here, I'm less sure what appealed to Lestat; this is a very very different take on Louis, and it seems more like he was attracted to his capacity for violence and… idk, something about the way he's stifled by social mores? I'm not trying to be dense, I couldn't get a good read on Lestat's motives, in spite of his long-ass monologue. I don't think the extra bonding time deepened their relationship, and I don't know if we gained anything by having Lestat drop the L word right away. Where is my two century slow burn?
Speaking of that: Lestat appears to be the cultured one this time and I hate it? Lestat introduces Louis to opera (while Louis has to pretend to not get it); Lestat owns his own luxury townhouse in the Quarter (the Rue Royale townhouse belonged to Louis in the novel). Where is the conflict with Louis thinking Lestat is an uncultured hick? Where is the angst of Louis thinking Lestat only wanted him for his money if Lestat is a property owner who dropped the L word before he ever turned him? Louis is supposed to be able to hold his intellectualism over Lestat, but this AU seems more like Lestat introducing Louis to that world? I can see why that would appeal to this version of Louis, if that's typically not allowed to a Black man, and I don't want to ignore how his race and time period inform his relationship to culture.
But it feels like they took away so much of the character's gentle, intellectual, introverted nature to give him "more of a spine." He admits in the confession scene that he's run to the bottle and the card tables and etc. his whole life. Paul died the morning AMC Louis was turned, well after Lestat had decided he wanted to make Louis his companion; in the novel Paul's death was the impetus for Louis's moral decline. It's an odd reversal, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Why did they make his relationship with Paul so much more antagonistic and then make Paul's death so obviously not Louis's fault? Don't get me wrong, I'm not team "Louis did it" by any means, but it feels weird to have Louis PULL A KNIFE ON HIM but the day he dies they just have a nice conversation. He really just walked off the roof because he's cRaZy!
Does this Lestat kill mostly evildoers or not? I know in the books he's inconsistent about it, but this is supposed to be The Real Prince Lestat, so you'd think the writers would have a set idea of what his deal is, ethically speaking. So far his kills have been 1) a lamplighter; 2) a sex worker who Louis paid too much attention to; and 3) two priests. I want to know what he's going to claim he does! Also that exploding head punch was hilariously excessive!
Louis gives his whole monologue about the drumming of Lestat's heart while the music is a glorious swelling string section with absolutely no percussion. I thought that was marvelously bad sound design.
This take on Daniel sucks ass lmao
EDIT: I forgot to mention that between the cathedral scene and the dinner with Paul, Lestat is coming off as way more of an arrogant reddit atheist than he ever did in the books, where to me it seemed like he always had a strange sort of respect for sincere religious belief (as someone who lost his faith himself). idk, I know his thoughts on God fluctuated along with Anne's, but it struck me as out of character to have him so angrily fixated on this whole "religion is a lie" thing that he would trigger himself with it at the dinner table and self-righteously kill two priests.
idk dudes, I really wanted to say something positive, but I didn't enjoy almost any aspect of it. Maybe episode two will be less dour? These are just my initial impressions, maybe time and other perspectives will give me additional food for thought and I'll soften on some of it.
But chat with me if you've seen it! I'm curious to hear from other Loustat fans in particular, since it seems like a lot of us are really into it, and it just... didn't feel like my ship at all except in the most superficial possible way. I'm bummed! I wanted to be wrong, but most of my concerns have so far ended up being well-founded.

I think Matthew Goode (Born April 3rd) is also known for this "acting with his eyes / I always thought he was the british version of Pedro lol he's dorky yet charming and so so sassy. Michael fassbender have a few traits similar with Pedro's but he doesn't have the warm aura Pedro has (and so does Matthew). But is important to notice old days matthew is the best example to compare with Pedro, nowadays he's quite "tamed". Such as Pedro in his old days, Matthew was a savage and would always give the sassiest statements (like when a reporter asked him if the best kisser was his female or male co-star and he said "aw, we could do a threesome!" 🤣)
Like when the interviewer said Oberyn was hard to cast, described him, then went “the boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all!” and Pedro promptly shouts “SO DUH! I should have just sent them a picture with my phone, HERE HE IS!” Wild stuff from Pedro unfiltered! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Something that always stood out in the books is Louis's story is filtered through an interview but Lestat's is just written by himself and he doesn't have to answer to anyone, also its his version thats taken as truth for the rest of the series. And there was always an abuser/victim dynamic even in the books like at the very least Louis's turning is SUPER questionable and borderline rape in the books, but in the end its the abuser who gets his story solidified as truth.
The implication is a lot more troublesome here with a black Louis who can't even tell his own story without a white intermediary who treats his story with mixture of hostility/pity/contempt but when Lestat responds he gets to have his story unfiltered and unquestioned by anyone.
like i say a lot i have an unusual amount of faith [how abstract & atypical of yani] in these showrunners. they are already very mindful of what it means for the perspective & memory of a black gay man made immortal. im sure s3 will toy with the unreliabilty of lestat’s own perspective as an immortal medieval french man , and show what colors his own memories, as they are certainly not shy in showing the ways lestat can be cruel , a puppet show of ‘masculine’ archetypes & terribly insensitive already from others perspectives [claudia’s perspective on pivotal events & character dynamics is something important given in s1 that we dont rly get a complete picture of in iwtv obviously 4 meta reasons .. later in vc we get like pieces of her ghost haunting the narrative in tobt & merrick and even that ghost struggles for control of its own life narrative as it is painted over by lestat/talbot & louis/merrick/jesse n co’s POVs of claudia but a smart reader should be cued :3]. maybe talbot is replaced by daniel in some moments where hes interrogative of lestat & replaced by louis in more romantic scenes, i find talbot is a rare line of vc fanon consensus where nobody ive seen ever gave a fuck about ole dude lol. maybe even like the 94 movie where lestat snuck up on dan? idk. someone else asked me about the 94 movie & ima be real i watched it once years ago n cruise/durst was the only performances i remembered. banderas & pitt was not giving armand & louis to meee

I wonder what's his reaction to Hellsing, the original not the abridged version
I think an and all forms of media regarding vampires is probably flooding the thing you call a 'tablet' that you let him borrow. Hellsing, Van Hellsing (all movies), Dracula, Vampire Hunter D, Interview with a Vampire (Queen if the Dammed), etc. All of it is on there for him study.
Especially Carmilla the first vampire story if I remember correctly. Your world has a fascination with nightstalkers unlike his world were they are hunted and feared.
It explains definitely why you knew day one he was a vampire (though you had asked one night out of curiosity with an unfiltered question while pointing out hus characteristics match a vampire).
The few that unsettle him is probably TES vampire as to become a pure blood vampire is very dark.

LIE DETECTOR TEST : RENSUKE KUNIGAMI
Tumblr media
⊹ summary : the blue lock boys are invited to take a lie detector test, but they’ve got to answer twitter’s unfiltered questions
⊹ pairing : rensuke kunigami x reader (established relationship)
⊹ wc : 740
⊹ warnings : fem!reader with she/her pronouns, reader is referred to as a “girlfriend”, unedited, suggestive/nsfw. MINORS DNI
⊹ a/n : kunigami was highly requested and I’m sorry for such a long wait but I finally got the motivation to write his part!! lmk who should be interviewed next <33 ALSO if anyone has a reblog of bachira’s version pls send me the link. I never saved it before I deactivated my previous acc TT
⊹ isagi’s version | bachira’s version
Tumblr media
Kunigami’s never been hooked up to a polygraph before. He’s never been in an interview like this before either. When the team’s PR manager introduced the idea to the team, Kunigami was rather excited for something so fun and unique. It’d definitely get them more attention and hopefully expand their fan base. Not to mention, he used to love watching those ‘answering your tweets’ interviews so he was looking forward to being on the other end of the screen this time.
He, however, did not expect the fans to be so dirty minded.
“Twitter user @/rensuckmyclit asks ‘How do you feel about breeding and how do I get myself a rensuke creampie??’”
He shouldn’t be so surprised, not after hearing what Isagi and Bachira had to answer but he was hoping he’d get some tame questions. How in the hell was he supposed to answer this?
It didn’t help that he could hear the two men beside him laughing at his expression, one of shock, confusion and embarrassment. But he’s made his bed and now he’s gotta lie in it or however the saying goes.
“Yeah breeding is…nice, and uh you can’t?” his statement coming out as more of a question.
All heads in the room turn to Milo, the polygraph examiner, curious to hear his verdict but are met with an old man frowning at his machine. “Inconclusive.”
“Maybe try saying more than just two words, idiot,” Isagi sarcastically adds as he punches his arm.
“Don’t bother lying, Milo’ill catch ya,” Bachira adds, grinning mischievously at the ginger.
“I’ll repeat the question for you: ‘How do you feel about breeding and how do I get myself a rensuke creampie??’”
“How are you even saying that with a straight face?!” Kunigami questions. “Ugh nevermind.…Breeding is uh…a yes for me.”
“So you’re into it?”
“Yes I’m into it,” he sighs.
“Milo?”
“Truth”
“And as for the second part of the question—god I can’t believe I’m about to say this on camera—,” Kunigami drags his hand down his face and mutters out the rest of the answer, “only Y/N gets a ‘rensuke creampie’.” He uses his free hand to form air quotes for the embarrassing term.
“Y/N?” the interviewer questions.
“My girlfriend. Now can I get the next question before these two pass out? Megs looks like he forgot how to breathe– dammit its not that funny!” Hearing their usually collected teammate lose his temper over this only released another wave of cackles from the boys, contagious enough that even the polygraph examiner and the interviewer couldn’t hold back their chuckles. Kunigami can only huff in embarrassment as he waits for what’s next.
“Okay, okay… our next question is from twitter user @/kunigamisrightasscheekhairs.”
“What the fuck are these handles?”
“I think they’re creative,” Bachira snickers.
“They ask ‘What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been asked to sign?’”
Kunigami takes a second to reflect on all his fan interactions. Frowning, he hums in thought and just when he thinks he’s got answer he remembers an even odder instance. On the outside he looks like a fish opening and closing its mouth with nothing ever coming out until finally he sits up straighter to respond, “Someone once asked me to sign her tits.”
“What’s the verdict Milo? Is he telling the truth?”
“Yup.”
“Well did you do it?”
“Do what?”
“Sign the girl’s tits.”
“I don’t need to answer that so I won’t” Kunigami smirks at Isagi feeling smart but the blue eyed man just smirks back, “Well that just makes it seem like you definitely did. I wonder if Y/N knows about this. Should I tell her?”
Isagi is met with Kunigami’s playful glare and a series of curses thrown at him, all of which will be censored out when this episode is posted on BlueTube.
However, the room is silenced when Kunigami goes serious. He turns to the camera with a straight face, “I’m only admitting this because I don’t want any false accusations of me cheating or anything going around. Yes I signed her tits. And yes Y/N knows about it. They were her tits. And because I know one of these two idiots will ask, yes we were dating at the time.”
“All true,” the examiner confirms but one look at Kunigami’s face would be more than enough to know if he was really telling the truth. Afterall, his face was turning redder than his hair.

If you haven’t watched it, I think you will enjoy Niall’s episode of the Unfiltered podcast with Oli Dugmore. I think it is one of the best in-depth interviews he has ever given, and he talks quite a bit about his childhood and One Direction. The podcast is available on Spotify, but there’s also a video version on YouTube.
Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5WLyg2vVL8fj5jVLLLSVQL?si=NNqYQUKTShCxBqvTMlE5Iw
YouTube: https://youtu.be/OLq_MwPll-o
It was a really interesting chat - I loved the curiosity of the interviewer and his focus on fame and its impacts - and that he was really interested in that as a personal experience.
Niall was very charming, but you really saw how self-contained he was - and how good he was at just not communicating anything about himself or other people that he didn’t want to communicating.
I am a little bit disappointed in the team that they didn’t mention the White House visit. Given the nature of the website it would have been both relevant and interesting to hear about Niall’s interaction with power, but that would have been quite a different vibe.
Finally as someone who is really interested in the way everything in the music industry is shaped by charts and economics. I was very interested in the timing. He said that he finished it October/November last year. That suggests that it currently takes about 6 months to get vinyl printed if you’re Niall Horan. Which will give us a bit of a timeline for when albums might be expected, but also what circumstances albums were recorded under over the next little bit.

Artist Interview: Lila Starless (Ardente, Dragonkeep, Fog Kingdom)
Today we're doing something a bit different. I've actually had the privilege to speak directly (through Instagram DMs lol) with Lila Starless, the french multi-instrumentalist and creative powerhouse behind about two dozen different projects spanning the genres of black metal, dungeon synth, and quite a bit in between. I am a massive fan of her works, and have actually reviewed one of their releases here before (Forgotten Passage Demo 2019) and intend to review more in the future. The interview starts a bit suddenly, that's because we agreed to do it previously and had already hashed out our plan for it. If it seems awkward at all, it's because I have no social skills 👍.
Anyways, enjoy!
Begin interview
SU: hey!
LS: hi
SU: alright first off, how did you get started making music?
LS: i started with music lessons on the piano many years ago but didn't understand them at all. it wasn't until i started playing the guitar that i took a real interest in playing and making music. i had a teacher for a few years at the beginning, a great one even, and he didn't really teach me much traditional western music theory and such. he just wanted me to have a good time. but, spending a lot of time on the guitar i got familiar with certain structures that seemed to always "make sense". my first released tracks were on the keyboard in 2018, i "translated" (if that makes sense) the fret structures that i liked to the keys and this is basically how i started making my own music.
SU: that's very interesting. were there any particular artists or bands that were influencial to you at first? what drew you specifically to black metal/dungeon synth?
LS: absolutely. nothing out of the ordinary but i started listening to such things with artists from the old Norwegian scene, at least as far as black metal goes. i got into dungeon synth a little later, the album Taur-nu-Fuin by Thangorodrim was my introduction to it... or maybe it was Rise of the Specter. either way i still have a sweet spot for both of these. then, Depressive Silence, Mortiis... etc. as i said, nothing unheard of. i cannot tell you exactly what drew me to those genres. i was a teenager checking out random metal CDs at the library, one day i heard "I Am the Black Wizards" (the demo version) and it just changed my life. this track remains as one of my favorites of all times. nowadays, i can tell you that making and listening to such music, to me, is important because of the raw emotion that is often present in some of my favorite albums in both genres.
SU: so would you say music that is mostly about emotional expression for you? does that play into how you make your own?
LS: not necesarilly emotional, but about expression, as all art is really, so i don't really know where i'm going with this. i guess the unfiltered, raw nature of it is important to me, not always but often. of course, it's not always direct or explicit either, for example some dungeon synth is themed around other worlds, places, times... but, as Sargeburt of An Old Sad Ghost brilliantly puts it, at the end of the day it is music for prisoners... metaphorically. it definitely plays a big part in my music, at least. i cannot say i've never made music with no real substance, but nowadays everything i make reflects something very real that i experience or experienced, in some way or another. i could not do it any differently now i think.
SU: how did you develop your style? i feel like i can just about always tell when a project involves you, even if i don't know going into a first listen, you have a very distinctive style of songwriting, and a unique aesthetic.
LS: haha, damn... i don't know how i can answer this! you are not the first person to tell me this, and honestly i kind of see what you mean, but ultimately it's just like every other person who "creates" something... i like certain things, and i heavily borrow from them, so it becomes a mix of slightly less good versions of said things, but in the process you make something that somehow feels like your own. i guess that's what happened here as well... i don't have a real answer to give you. the one thing i can tell you is that sometimes actually learning how to play things that i like really helped me to get a different perspective and incorporate something fresh into the mix.
SU: that's definitely a real answer! now, a final question, what can we expect from you in the future?
LS: the way i make/release stuff is fairly chaotic so overall i don't really know. several releases under different projects, of course, most notably Ardente's first full length album, a few splits... but on a wider scale, i would like to branch out a little bit. i like ambient music, and shoegaze too, so maybe something like this? i'd like to release more music that's not under a specific project too. i'd like to play live more, but i need to be better prepared in the future.
SU: alright! that's very exciting. thank you so much for doing this interview, i hope you have a wonderful rest of your day
LS: thanks a lot for having me! you as well. it's been a pleasure.
End interview
So yeah this is super exciting!!! I'm hoping to do more interviews in the future, and if there are any specific artists yall'd be interested in, let me know! (also lmk if theres any ways i can conduct interviews better. i've never done this before, and i would appreciate feedback on my questions and overall approach/presence in the interview)

Five Best Sports Podcasts Of 2023
Tumblr media
Please don't get upset. I'm trying to prepare you for the news. Are you ready? Are you sitting down? The Bill Simmons podcast is not on my list of the top five sports podcasts. No, I don't have a gripe with Mr. Simmons. His show is a perfectly competent sports podcast. Mr. Simmons has not been without controversy in his career, -- angry white man syndrome -- but is knowledgeable and articulate about sports.
However, the sports podcasts I've chosen all have something  -- a special ingredient to offer.
First, let me wax angrily about the controversy addicts on sports podcasts who think that blurting out the most outlandish statements at a jet-engine decibel level generates ratings and makes them more visible in a crowded sports broadcasting field. Yes and yes, courting controversy accomplishes both goals, but at some point listeners get tired of your forced rants and fake controversies.
How many times can you flip out on the refs in any sport? Or call some athlete overrated? Or overpaid? Or attack some billionaire sports owner who has the ego of a monster and the self-awareness of a three-year-old?
Think Stephen A.Smith, Skip Bayless, and Colin Cowherd. These three never met an unfiltered opinion they didn't like. But enough about them. Let's talk sports podcast excellence.
  Hang Up And Listen
Slate podcasts are, as a rule, a cut above iHeart, Spotify, and Wondery podcasts. These intelligence-inflected podcasts are often designed to spur thinking, reflection, and self-awareness. That rule applies to the Hang Up And Listen podcast with hosts, Joel Anderson, Stefan Fatsis, and Josh Levin, who excel as quieter, more perceptive versions of Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless.
The show covers the requisite sports topics of the week. The December 18th episode, for example, covered the indefinite suspension of Draymond Green, reports of the Wizards and Caps decamping to Northern Virginia, and college quarterbacks in the transfer portal.
What makes this podcast so remarkable is the show's instinct to make listeners think about the covered topic, instead of telling listeners what the hosts think and demanding that listeners then support the ideological line.
What the three co-hosts accomplish every episode is to remind listeners that, while sports can be a metaphor for life, it's still an entertainment medium. Even more impressive is the show's resistance to either lionize or demonize athletes in sports. Instead, the show reserves its opprobrium for the self-indulgent, narcissistic owners of team sports and parent organizations of individual sports.
I recommend the August 7th episode titled, "The USWNT Is Out Edition," covering the Women’s World Cup, conference realignment, and the MLB trade deadline. Plus, a conversation with Wimbledon quarterfinalist Chris Eubanks.
Ross Tucker Football Podcast
Ross Tucker is a former offensive lineman whose career was cut short by a serious neck injury in 2007. He's a Princeton graduate and has done multiple jobs in football journalism since his retirement.
His show -- Ross Tucker Football Podcast -- broadcasts throughout the year with reviews of the NFL draft by position, forecasts about the upcoming season, and guest interviews that sparkle.
Tucker doesn't offer his listeners the typical screaming retired football player with random opinions that are shouted and announced as fact. Instead, Tucker interviews people with more thoughtful, nuanced positions, such as journalist Gary Myers, math wizard Steve Fezzik, and insightful interviews with current players.
However, Tucker's ace in the hole is ESPN's NFL Matchup producer and analyst Greg Cosell. Unlike some analysts, Cosell is not loud, controversial and is often quite bland. But his devotion to watching game films and explaining the intricacies of the game to listeners makes him a unique repository of knowledge for those who really want to understand how NFL football is played.
What to know about which teams use "12" personnel and why? Cosell will tell you on this podcast. (12 personnel means that there is one running back, two tight ends, and two receivers on the field.) When Cosell explains the two deep safety shell (The two deep safeties divide the field in half and work over the top of the five underneath players.) you'll understand why some quarterbacks have a hard time exploiting that defense. Cosell is ideal for the fan who wants to know why his team is winning or losing, and not for the fan who wants to blame the referees for everything.
The Rich Eisen Show
The Rich Eisen Show provides a mix of sports news, interviews with athletes and celebrities, and lively discussions on current events in the sports world. Eisen brings his extensive knowledge and experience to the show, engaging with guests and offering insightful analysis. The show covers a wide range of sports topics, including football, basketball, baseball, and more.
The show has a similar format to most sports podcasts, but it's Eisen that stands out. He's smart, and can be smart-alecky but with a restraint that tells listeners he's a thinking man, not a drinking man. Eisen handles interviews with ease, and always inserts reflective musing, attentive skepticism, and that awareness that he's discussing sports, not life or death conundrums.
Finally, Eisen may have the only spouse who is always an incredible sports podcaster, Suzy Shuster. (What The Football with Amy Trask).
30 For 30 ESPN Podcasts
It may be that ESPN's 30 for 30 Podcasts has set the bar so high for audio sports documentaries that no one will catch up.
The podcast is a highly acclaimed audio series that extends the storytelling of ESPN’s renowned 30 for 30 documentary films. Each episode of the podcast focuses on a captivating sports story, delving deep into the narratives that shape the sports world.
With a combination of powerful interviews, archival recordings, and expert analysis, 30 for 30 Podcasts brings these stories to life in an audio format. The podcast covers a wide range of topics, including iconic athletes, historic moments, and controversial events, providing a thought-provoking and immersive experience for sports enthusiasts.
30 for 30 is known for its high production value and compelling storytelling, which is why it has earned a dedicated following and continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of sports and narrative journalism.
Attaching an asterisk to this podcast, I can't leave ESPN without mentioning Bomani Jones, who has always been a natural fit for the podcasting format. While it sucked to lose High Noon (the show he hosted with Pablo Torre), Jones cuts deep on everything from sports and culture to music and social issues.
Jones is one of the smartest people in sports media, and anyone looking for a debate is going to get their money's worth—and that's why he's always such a great listen, no matter what the platform.
 Real Science Of Sport Podcast
World-renowned sports scientist Professor Ross Tucker and veteran sports journalist Mike Finch break down the myths, practices and controversies from the world of sport on the Real Science Of Sport Podcast.
From athletics to rugby, soccer, cycling and more, the two delve into the most recent research, unearth lessons from the pros and host exclusive interviews with some of the world's leading sporting experts.
Recent episodes include Rugby's high-tech mouth guards, cold water therapy for recovery, the science of carb loading for endurance athletes, and the effectiveness of high-altitude training.
Finally, science people have a voice in sports.
***********************
Finally, a good sports podcast should not recreate the sports bar or locker room in language, attitude or intelligence level. A sports podcast should not approximate jock talk in the locker room and devolve into audio "high-fives” or “belching and boobs” jokes.
While some men still can't accept this fact, more and more women are listening to sports podcasts.
A good sports podcast shouldn't be designed for the frat boy follies. Sure, sports podcasts do not have to sound like the Harvard Business Review podcast, but also not appeal to those who spend time on new "knock-knock" jokes and deciding on their latest whoopee cushion purchase.
These sports podcasts I've highlighted can fill your craving for sports talk by offering you a healthy dose of lively, spirited yet intelligent sports news and commentary.
By contrast, I heard a fan call in to a sports radio show after the Eagles lost to the 49ers a few weeks ago and tried to recruit people to fly to San Francisco and start fights at the next 49ers home game for revenge.
Get a life. It's only a game.

Goodreads
Tumblr media
Dear Caroline:
You had a Goodreads. Sadly, like so much of your digital footprint, it has risen into thin air like smoke, a holocaust pleasing to the Lord - I should say 'even more sadly', as I am greatly interested in both what you read and in what you thought about it above most else. Some pieces of the wreckage are salvable by virtue of their having been included in your tumblr, and by having a digital copy of the latter that is still accessible.
And yet today, I have discovered a little treasure! Seldom is truly lost in the Internet, and fiddling today with The Wayback Machine, I was able to recover some considerable snippets of your Goodreads:
Tumblr media
This means, among other things, that the treasure of 'Carolingian books' that I can know you've read is increased considerably, along with access to your delectable reviews and always interesting thoughts. In fact, one of the things I discovered is that the Tom Chivers book I was reading was in fact a legit Carolingian book, which you read between the 18th and the 21st August 2019 (funnily enough, it took me about the same time, and in almost the same dates, only 4 years later). This allows me to write one of these days a review here, probably reflecting on your own.
Quote:
Man, if you had told me a couple years ago that a Buzzfeed writer would write a popular book on AI risk and the rationalist movement, and my main complaint would be that it wasn't sensationalist enough, I would have been very confused. But here we are.
The author seems like a really nice and reasonable person, who thinks AI risk might be important and wants to understand and explain it. But mostly it seems like most rationalists were reasonably pretty wary of talking to a journalist, so he didn't get much unfiltered content from them. So the book ends up being largely a summary of the Sequences and some other rationalist ideas, with a few interviews thrown in. Which is cool, the ideas are the important part, but if you really want the ideas you can just read the Sequences. (Though this is a nicely digestible version of the highlights.) I think the book just needed him to go undercover to about three really crazy rationalist parties.
I did like the chapter at the end where he does internal double crux with Anna Salamon; it felt very true.

The Marjory Taylor Greene interview on 60 Minutes is bad journalism but not for the reasons that I’ve seen widely circulating. I think that there is a responsibility of journalists to expose their audience to people who are distasteful, dishonest, and even dangerous. A long from interview has the potential to humanize, this is true. This is a risk that must be weighed against only ever exposing one’s audience to that person second hand through analysis and selective quotations. The sound bite is, in my opinion, far more dangerous than the interview because the sound bite permits someone to only present the most polished and superficial versions of their narrative. It leaves little time in a 2 to 3 minute segment to unpack complex ideas and how seemingly benign proposals might be have something like a genocide as it’s unstated conclusion.
Clearly I have been ruined by podcasts and skilled interviewers like Ezra Klein because when I sought out the MTG interview on YouTube, I expected MTG to condemn herself with her own words and to be incapable of not saying the quiet part loud. Even a permissive interviewer who does no prep but allows the subject to range far and wide largely unfiltered is also likely to cause the subject to forget where they are and what they’re doing and let their candid thoughts slip out.
I was flabbergasted at how brazenly this was edited. I understand and forgive the gentle pushback. I was actually annoyed by the performative disbelief by Stahl that MTG would double down on her pedophile rhetoric. What I cannot condone is the way the interview seems cut to focus on the rather obviously rehearsed answers rather than attempt to solicit more organic answers or engage in any Socratic dialogue to interrogate Greene’s worldview and motives.
Perhaps it’s professional courtesy on the part of legacy media like 60 Minutes to polish interviews to cut uninteresting responses or filler while someone is thinking aloud. But a deeply skeptical part of me believes that it goes beyond getting to the point and that the way it seems to fade in and out on particular responses is somehow obfuscating off the cuff statements the audience deserves to hear. Certainly the voice over summarizing MTG for her instead of using her own words is problematic.
I argued on other platforms that this wasn’t inherently irresponsible because a long form interview generates enough “content” for good analysis to more fully understand MTG as a political actor and hopefully raise alarm. I was dead wrong because my assumptions were wrong. This was no exercise in merely letting someone steelman themselves, this was complicity. This was 60 Minutes engaged in shameless panhandling for relevance and access. I cannot believe I am saying this but in its true neutrality, the Joe Rogan Experience may actually be a more responsible media actor than 60 Minutes with its affected neutrality.
