Lakshadweep, Union territory, India: Lakshadweep is a tropical archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs in the Laccadive Sea, off the coast of Kerala, India. Not all of the islands are inhabited, and only a few are open to visitors (permits required). Kavaratti, one of the more developed islands, is home to dozens of mosques, including the ornately decorated Ujra Mosque, as well as the Kavaratti Aquarium, showcasing regional fish, shark, and coral species.

Encounter with a mama Grizzly and her cub roaming the woods in Dawson City, Canada. In October 10, 2023.
In British Columbia they inhabit approximately 90% of their original territory as for being over 29,000 of them. And mamas will always do whatever it takes to protect her little one(s). Be aware...

Greenland is Still Part of Denmark
Remember that Greenland is still an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark (Kongeriget Danmark). Even so, Greenland has been self-governing since 1979, they have their own government and parliament, and in 2009 further autonomy was granted to Greenland.
Tumblr media
Originally a colony of Norway, Greenland has been part of Denmark since Denmark was still in a personal union with Norway, known as Denmark-Norway. When the union dissolved in 1814, Greenland, along with Faroe Islands, was transferred to Denmark. Greenland has been an integral part of Denmark officially since 1953.
Since Denmark is part of European Union (EU), Greenland is also part of EU but not directly because they withdrew in 1985, it is associated with EU through OCT (overseas country and territory) status. Greenlanders are Danish citizens and also EU citizens.
Even though it is on the North American continent, Greenland has been part of Europe politically and culturally for more than a millennium since the Norse people from Iceland settled it in 986. Once abandoned for unknown reasons in 14th-15th century, it was rediscovered in 1721.
The potential for independence for Greenland has always existed and I am supporting this. However there needs to be an amendment to the Constitution of Denmark because Greenland is a subject of it. Hopefully this will happen in the best way possible, opening a new chapter in history, particularly for Greenland and Denmark.

International science unions rambling time!
I have been reading many, many documents on the process of merging between ICSU(International Council of Sciences) and ISSC(International Social Sciences Council) that first happened in around May-July 2017, and I think the whole process was quite interesting
So, before this, I feel like the ICSU members have a bit of prejudice against social sciences as the Council mostly had natural sciences unions, some of them even thought that social sciences are not considered a real science, I feel like they have been belittling the potential that social sciences could have by dismissing them to make them stay in a supporting role rather than stepping up for themselves, hell, even with the ISSC which was supposed to be a council focusing on social sciences, ICSU still has a louder voice in this field(despite only having 4 social sciences unions in the council at the time this document below was published)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So much so that one of the social sciences unions in the ICSU, IGU(which is the International Geographical Union), voiced their concerns about the under-representation of social sciences unions in the international scientific field in the feedback they gave in the form that ICSU and ISSC sent out to members regarding the merging process, I think the way they worded it sounds pretty hilarious:
Tumblr media
Folks really thought the term ‘science’ is a discrimination against social sciences 🥀
Speaking of which, I have been able to gather the feedbacks of some international science unions that they had given to ICSU-ISSC merging process, the responses were pretty varied, and I think will be focusing on those responses for this blog
Starting from IUGG(International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics), I would say they have a lot of criticisms to offer, they were pointing out right away that this can sounds too ambiguous and constantly asking for clearer explanations on what both Councils were going to do, to be fair, they were still being quite professional about it:
Tumblr media
The IPSA(International Political Science Association) on the other hand was not as much of a rambler as the IUGG, but “It is time to regroup our forces!” sounds a bit silly in my opinion, the main concern of their feedback consists of the difference between the merging process in principle and in practice, they love to analyse possible outcomes that might happen and deviate from what they were expecting:
Tumblr media
The IUMRS(International Union of Material Research Societies)’s feedback on the other hand, overall sounds…pretty sarcastic given their tone, the exclamation marks, the ATTITUDE, and what really tops it all is that “carpe diem!” as a response to one of the questions, I’m not sure if they really wanted to help or they were just mocking on how ridiculous the idea of merging ICSU-ISSC was, but their part was entertaining to read because it feels like a blow after blow to the flaws of the merging process:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The IGU was really posing themselves as the unions rights activist(/hj), particularly on the social sciences unions, they have consistently brought up the fact that social sciences unions and generally the less powerful unions in both Councils should not be diluted from getting attention from the international community, they also asked if some degrees of autonomy for individual disciplines should be given, and again, bringing up the social sciences as the main issue
Tumblr media
And of course, concern about the word ‘science’ in the possibly newly merged council name options as I already mentioned far above
IUPHAR(International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology) kept it simple at first, but then got REAL political by the end:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WISH I COULD PUT MORE IMAGES BECAUSE IUPAC’S(International Union for Pure and Applied Chemistry) RESPONSE WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY FUNNY. They basically kept asking the Councils for further information, “IUPAC believes further information is required” is a lot of words for “girl WHAT”, I don’t think they were that prepare why else would they keep asking for more information about it when other unions didn’t have to do so, GIRL, YOU ARE IF NOT THE MOST FAMOUS SCIENCE UNION AMONG THE ICSU 😭
Oh, and URSI(International Union for Radio Science) basically said sorry for the null response
Ok I think that’s the end of my ramble for now, I have been trying my best to comply what I wanted to show in 10 images, but reading those those responses has been fun

Hope you feel better soon—if it would help at all, I’d love to hear some of your recent favorite facts about nuclear energy if you have any!
Oh. My god. This made me realize I have so many unanswered nuclear energy asks i just never responded to. Im so sorry to anyone who asked me anything ill get on that.
I recently learned something thats nuclear energy related, but most of it falls under the incident category! And it involves Canada! 🫡🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🫎 also the soviets, but its nuclear thats gone wrong so of course it does 🤷
In 1978 a nuclear reactor powered Soviet satellite broke up over the Northwest Territories without separating from the on board reactor like it was supposed to, leaving radioactive debris spread over a 600+ kilometre area. A joint American and Canadian operation was launched to clean the debris, named ‘Operation Morning Light’, which sounds like some star wars shit fr like operation morning like should be the assassination of Darth Vader like thats fucking badass
Anyways— some peices of the satellite were so radioactive it could kill a person after just a few hours of contact, and the whole operation took around ten months from late January to the mid October of 1978, just eight years before the significantly more famous Soviet nuclear fuck up that is the Chernobyl disaster! Fun!
Another satellite later failed in 1983, dropping its reactor into the Atlantic. Idk anything about that one though 🤷
Overall, clean up cost around $6 million dollars which the Canadian government asked the Soviet union to pay, but they only ever ended up giving the government $3 million. The Canadian winter did absolutely nothing to assist in the operation, doing quite the opposite and freezing all the fucking equipment lmao
The effect of this event on the First Nations people in the area is, of course, not talked about enough. Theres reasonable belief that this incident was the cause for high rates of cancer in the Fort Resolution area, but a provincial health report released a decade later claims there is no correlation. In 2012 the Chief of the Deninu Ku’e First Nation said he believed this to be the government shifting blame of cancer rates to the Indigenous communities own actions. I cant say Im an expert and know whether or not clean up was sufficient, but considering the Canadian government’s history of ignoring different types of pollution affecting the lives of Indigenous people… it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if it wasn’t.
Anyway long story short a Nuclear reactor was basically dropped into the Canadian north by the Soviets who then tried to ignore it and it was a bitch to clean. Also fuck the Canadian government 🖕
(Ive got articles and research papers if anyone wants to know more, I am not an expert or anything so I probably dont have the whole story and my telling may be inaccurate)

The World in March 2025: Justice, Complexity, and Pluralism Amid Global Strife
The World in March 2025 Justice, Complexity, and Pluralism Amid Global Strife As of March 14, 2025, the world teeters on edges of conflict and fragile diplomacy, from Ukraine’s ceasefire talks to Syria’s sectarian bloodshed. My works—sovereignty conflicts and distributive justice (2017), territorial disputes (2020), and cosmopolitanism, state sovereignty and pluralist theory (2023)—frame this…

"He was very firm. It was a cold shower," one source shared. "Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious and potentially very dangerous."  "The Danes are utterly freaked out by this," another source added. The prime minister's office rejected this characterization of the 45-minute phone call, saying that they told Trump in no uncertain terms "that Greenland is not for sale." Trump's expansionist push was a late-breaking bit of oddity from his seemingly endless presidential campaign. Surprisingly, the desire to take control of Greenland, the Panama Canal and Canada has lingered beyond Inauguration Day, with Vice President JD Vance threateningly noting that the United States already has troops in the Danish country.
