Caregiver Headcanons for The Untamed part one: Wen Zhuliu

(I'm doing this bc my Papa and I just finished the live action and I'm sad bc so many people died.)

🖤 Nightless City can be very dangerous, so he makes sure to keep you close. More often than not he's holding your hand, especially when out and about.

🖤 Calls you "Little Bird" or "Little One."

🖤 When you have nightmares, he stays with you. He holds you and hums softly while rocking back and forth until you fall asleep.

🖤 Doesn't let anyone else watch you, not even Wen Qing and her brother. Not that he doesn't trust them, he's just a bit paranoid.

🖤 He takes every opportunity to get you out of the Nightless City; he doesn't want you to be constantly trapped in that dark place. He takes you to markets in other cities and always offers to buy you a toy from one of the sellers.

🖤 You have so many little toys because of this. It's kind of a problem lol.

🖤 Every now and then he needs to be reassured that he's doing well in caring for you. He worries that with his reputation he may be scaring you into letting him do so, and he needs to be reminded that you trust him as your Caregiver, and you know he'd never hurt you.

🖤 If you're a cultivator(and even if you're not), he takes the time to teach you how to fight so you can protect yourself. When little, this mostly ends up with you two wrestling while you giggle as he lets you 'win'.

🖤 Wen Chao doesn't like you and thinks you're kinda useless, but you usually just stick your tongue out at him and giggle when he looks offended. Knowing darn well that he'd never be dumb enough to step between you and your Caregiver.

🖤Wen Zhuliu tells you not to do this, but mostly because he always has to hide a smug grin at your audacity.

I know this isn't my usual content, but I have lots of feelings about this show and wanted to share. More to come!

. Why I personally recommend it . The show just sits right with me. All of our littles (and even caregivers) enjoy this show. Never bored of the show's episodes and it keeps me entertained everytime I watch it. Once again, a very friendly community. The show isn't afraid to show off that some of their characters are LGBTQ+ (mostly consistent of non-binary characters and Gay characters)

Chapter 1

Weeks and weeks of planning and preparation had finally led up to this moment.

Finally it was time. She had perfected her banishing spell to rid the world of hero's. The spell wasn't meant to kill them, no. Maleficent - the mistress of all evil had something much darker in mind. She just needed to get rid of everyone for a little while.

Maleficent gathered all of her minions in the tallest tower of her castle. They ran about like ants collecting an preparing everything needed for the spell.

"CONFRACTUS, IN EXSILIUM AGERE, INCIDET. CALIGINEM PEPERERUNT. ET AQUAS MASEREPHOTH, EXITIUM CECIDIT."

With a sadistic grin, Maleficent watched from her tower as darkness took over the land of Navarre. She could almost hear the screams from the castle. As the darkness flooded through the land, something unexpected happened - the sky ripped open. High up in her tower she could see other worlds apart from her own, the darkness had fallen there too.

Something had gone wrong, the spell was only intended to banish the good at heart, but the spell was affecting everyone apart from herself and those in the tower. Everyone was vanishing.

OUTSIDE THE TOWER

After the darkness took over everyone found themselves removed from their homes with no memory of how they got there.

The island is a dark, mysterious, magical and wonderful place all in one. An untamed and unexplored vista; except for the strange abandoned village in the heart of the island. Now all kinds of animals, creatures and dangers await the islands newest inhabitants. What will you make of this new life?

Ahem. Excuse me. Lovingly christened "The Toaster" or "The Yeet Gun" by players, Jötunn (pronounced "yo-tun") is a straight-up Samus Aran arm cannon. It looks like a toaster and toasts your enemies with alacrity. “Jötunn” is the Norse word for “giant,” and getting hit with a Jötunn shot sure feels like a giant stomped you into the ground. To go with the Black Armory's forge theme, Jotunn's hinged side panels that expand as the weapon charges mimic a blacksmith's bellows. It's one of the three Black Armory exotics honoring the Armory's founders, and Jötunn is Helga Rasmussen's weapon, marked with the family crest of an upraised hand on the side. Like Helga herself, Jötunn is blunt and powerful, heavy-hitting and built to get the job done.

Helga Rasmussen was a former Clovis Bray corporation employee when she joined Henriette Meyrin and Yuki Satou in founding the Black Armory. She focused on the day-to-day and often clashed with Henriette over the idealistic vs. pragmatic aspects of the organization - clashes Yuki Satou generally mediated, brokering peace between the two. Helga was the first to pitch the idea of cooperating with CB corp to create an Exo to curate the Armory, and the first to propose wider distribution of the Forges, the in-situ 3D printers that manufacture Black Armory weapons on demand. She was killed during the Collapse protecting the Niobe Labs facility where she and the other two founders had taken refuge.

Jötunn is a guaranteed good time pretty much everywhere, but it's a favorite in Crucible for its ability to one-shot an opponent at long range, its fickle tracking that can (sometimes) compensate for a dodging opponent, and its ability to set the ground on fire (did I mention it sets the ground on fire?) so that even if you miss you deny the area to the enemy. The whummm-BANG! of Jötunn shots whistles through PvP matches at both Quickplay and Competitive levels and I owe pretty much all of my Glory score to its high-speed fireballs.

Jötunn has two ornaments so far: Dreamchaser and Járngreipr, Norse for "iron grips," the iron gloves of Thor. Despite the cool name Járngreipr itself is kind of tacky, giving the weapon a Calus-like aesthetic with a lot of shiny gold and the suggestion of a bestial fanged mouth; according to the concept artist it started off as a version of Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet. Dreamchaser has a vaguely-Awoken look that leaves the body of the weapon alone but adds colors and streamlines parts of it into simple shapes, including the sights, which use converging circles for its charge animation.

Life

Please take my hand, my precious friend, and lets walk barefoot through the sand. As we walk let's try to make sense of life and all of its many complicated variables. Do you see the water continually washing against the sea shore? Did you notice the water dragging sand and pebbles away with each wave? That represents " father time." We have no more power over the ocean and its powerful magnificence than we do over the passing or changing of time. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, or is it?Do you see the clouds starting to form over-head? Do you realize that we cannot stop the inevitable thunder showers no matter how hard we try? Even though we would love to see the sky stay sunny and bright, nature in all its awesome power will invariably have its own way. Darkness, and stormy weather are a fact of life. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, or is it?Do you see the seagulls flying free and casually through the air? Do you realize that their freedom can be threatened and taken away in a split second of time? In their innocence, they can become prey to devastation and death at the hands of cruelty and disregard for the significance of their life. A fisherman may think it is fascinating to throw them a worm on a hook. Or a group of bored teen-agers may find it entertaining to use them as target practice. Their lives like ours, are vulnerable and full of possible mishaps. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, or is it?Do you see how high and powerful the waves are rising as the thunderstorm gets nearer? Do you feel the passionate emotion the untamed ocean is provoking? Emotions such as anger, rage, animosity, and ultimately danger. The ocean is like life, sometimes smooth and beautiful and sometimes so out of control as to cause heart-ache, harm or death. But we have no power or control over the ocean. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, or is it?The beach and all its beauty can instantly and without warning turn into an inferno of fierce high seas, and brutal winds, gruesomely destroying and causing turmoil. Just as life can be so very wonderful and joyful one moment and then take a tragic turn towards disaster in a matter of seconds. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, but is it?Life and its hardships and tragedies, are just like the other variables of nature. We must learn to appreciate the beauty around us. We must enjoy to the fullest the peaceful, joyful moment. The course of our life can change in a split second of time. Maybe our only choice is to accept it, but is it?We all have choices, we all have some amount of control over our destiny. Although we can not change everything, it is important to strive our hardest to alter the things we can. We can touch and enjoy the feel of the sand and pebbles, taking comfort in their reminder to be as productive as possible because time stops for no one. We can take shelter from the thunderstorm and at the same time marvel at its brilliance and power. We can prepare for the onslaught of the viscous wind as it reminds us not to take anyone or anything for granted. Oh my gosh what AREN'T my thoughts?

The fanfiction is so wonderfully diverse: the imagination put into most of the AUs is just *chef's kiss* and I couldn't possibly pick a favourite (I lied, my favourite is the one where Wei Ying is A-Yuan's art teacher). But I love them all very much!

The dark/light imagery is so good and the hint of blue/red as well: I'm the red half of a red/blue couple so it always makes me happy to see others (even though there's a LOT of red/blue couples!! never enough!)

I'm reading a translation of the book at the moment, and my partner and I are planning to watch the donghua soon: I'm actually reading the book out loud to my partner, which is pretty fun, although I'm glad I watched the drama first so I have an idea how everyone's name sounds! (Shoutout to whoever decided to include the pronunciation guide in the back I am kissing them lovingly)

I love both of them so goddamn much individually AND together: Wei Ying just has so much CARING in him and it almost overflows and he's just this little beacon of trouble and he's too smart for his own good and he just wants everyone else to get what they want and goddamn I love him so much.

And Lan Zhan!!! Is also just... ugh, I don't have words for Lan Zhan, I feel like I could contradict everything I want to say about him. He's such a strange man who seems so repressed and rule-bound on the outside but on the inside he feels so deeply and genuinely.

I love that they have their first life together and it's a tragedy: Wei Ying loses everything that meant something to him, he fails to protect the people who mattered most. Lan Zhan misses his chance to stand up for what was right, and he fails to save Wei Ying, and he expects to live the rest of his life in mourning.

And then, a second chance, and Lan Zhan is just holding on for dear life, and Wei Ying is pure cluelessness, and it's just the reclaiming of the next generation and it's so GOOD, it's still tragic and they can never have everything back, but they still find something with each other, and UGH
