please support her (and please support more palestinians during this time too)
just like any other palestinian who is in gaza currently, she is dealing with a lot on her plate. she is currently living in a tent with her family members, and her fiancé, all while being pregnant with her first child. food, and a good water source being scarce, and mostly contaminated only worsens the issue. everyone is dealing with so much anxiety from surviving, and trying not to die every day, if it wasn't hard enough. because of that, many palestinians, hilda included, have made accounts on paypal, gofundme, chuffed, etc. in order to evacuate safely, and to afford food, and shelter for everyone in their families.
hilda is no different. she needs our help more so than ever. no one deserves anything like this, so all we can do is to help whenever we can.

Hi there :D
This blog is the main blog I see talking about and promoting original legends, and I see from the blog's intro that a lot of the mods also write orginal legends, so I was wondering if I could get a bit of advice about sharing / promoting an original legend of my own?
Recently I've come up with what I think is a cool original legend concept, but I'm really struggling to figure out how to share it with people and get some interest in it. For context, I'm a writer, not an artist, and while I plan to write this as a fic eventually, I don't see it happening in the near future. However, I still want to share my version of Link, Zelda, and Hyrule with people!
Do you have any advice on how to do this? I made a few posts with some general setting and character concepts, but no one's really noticed them so I've begun to wonder if I'm doing something wrong. (I know engagement shouldn't be the No. 1 priority, but it feels not-so-great to make a post and then get like, 3 notes). I'm considering taking the posts down and starting from scratch with "promoting" my original legend, except I don't really know how to do that... 😅
If you could give me a little advice, that would be lovely :D
We can definitely can relate to the experience of posting something and not getting a lot of response. Part of the fun of telling stories is having people engage with them after all! That's a perfectly normal frustration to have.
As for advice, I want to start with expressing that these things take time. I know, that's probably the most unfun piece of advice, but most people won't see any real growth in a following for 1-2 years of actively posting. And some of this is in how the Internet currently functions, not just a "pay your lumps" kind of advice. One of the reasons EH was able to take off so quickly is that it's attached to my main blog, which I've had since 2012. And on top of that, I was linking it with one of my fics, which is also from 2012 and is fairly popular on the platform I originally posted it to. Something's search weight improves the longer it exists on the Internet, so both of those attachments improved EH's visibility. You have to let it age!
That gets into the next big thing that helped EH take off as quickly as it did: engaging with a community. EH got big very fast too because from the get-go we've been engaging with the creators in our archive. Not all of them engage back, but the more people you reach out to engage with, the more likely someone reaches back. Check out other people's works, a few of them will likely want to return the favor. And you are welcome to use EH for that! We have a 16+ Discord for people to connect and share their projects, and you are always welcome to tag this blog if we miss you in the #original legends tag and will be sure to reblog it here to help you find a bigger audience. The Internet's a big place, and we always appreciate people helping us sift through it if you make or find something we didn't.
My third piece of advice is that you should learn how Tumblr works on a technical level. At least the basics! Most people don't know how to do this and usually assume Tumblr's tagging system works like Instagram or Twitter, and it shows. There are the basics that posts with graphics will do better and most people don't reblog pure text posts, but there are things you can learn to affect visibility! For instance, one of the reasons chapter releases posts don't do well is that they include external links and Tumblr suppresses those from showing up in tags, which is why reblogs matter so much! This post is written for the writeblr specifically, but the basics covered in it are still accurate for the platform as a whole. While we hope you tag your work as #original legends so we can find it, it shouldn't be in your top five tags! Those are the ones Tumblr boosts! Put us at 6th and we'll still find you but you'll be more likely to get in front of potential readers by picking bigger fandom tags (as long as they're accurate tags).
That's really the sum of it: don't give up, find community that will support you back, and figure out how the tool you're using works to make it work for you. We're all excited to see what you make here and you're sure to have some readers from our team. Now I've got to go find these posts you've already made!

hi there! that's not a stupid question at all (and even if it were, i'd still be happy to help) 💙 below the cut, i'll walk you through how to make something like you linked, with multiple shots in one gif:

We're putting two (or more) shots or scenes together in sequence into one gif, so that's how we'll start. I'm assuming a basic understanding on how to make gifs (if not, check the beginner tutorials tag on @gifmakerresource, the resource blog I run), so we begin by making each gif separately.
When putting multiple gifs together like this, it's important to be mindful of the number of frames you'll end up with. I tend to think it looks best if each scene is the same amount of frames, probably somewhere between 25-40 per gif, though it depends on the dimensions you're using as well. Don't sweat if they're not identical, but the closer they are, the better it'll look -- as opposed to one gif only being 10 frames and the other being 40.
So, create each gif separately. You may choose to sharpen and then color (which I believe is the more popular way, but you can always do it vice versa as well. You also might want to color once both gifs are together, but when I do something like this, I prefer to have everything completely finished before I put them both together. Here are my two sharpened and colored gifs:

Each gif needs to be the same dimensions as well. These are 540px x 500 px.
Assuming your gifs are complete, I find it easiest to convert them both to a smart object. To do this, highlight all the layers in your layers panel (shown below) and right click on one of them and select "convert to smart object." For this to work, you do already need to be using timeline animation, not frame animation. You can learn more about that in the beginner tutorials I linked above.

Once both gifs are smart objects, they'll be comprised of only one layer each, thus making them easier to work with and transfer. Now we want to bring gif #2 onto gif #1's canvas. As long as you're working with smart objects, it's as simple as copy (ctrl+c) and pasting (ctrl+p). Copy gif #2, click on gif #1's tab and then paste. This should also properly align the layers. If it doesn't for some reason, you can either use the move tool (v) or the transform tool (ctrl+t) and click and drag until they're aligned properly. This is what you should see now:

Gif #2 is currently on top of gif #1 in both the timeline and layers panel. If we were to save this gif, they're not going to play sequentially, but rather at the same time and only the top layer will be visible. To make one play after the other, we're going to drag gif #2 AFTER gif #1 in the timeline like so:
We're just clicking and dragging on that top layer and bringing it down to the same line as gif #1 and after it. What I'm doing at the end gets a little cut off, so this is what I'm showing in order to make the timeline smaller so we can see the whole gif. I don't like having to scroll to see it all, but this is just personal preference.

Dragging that slider to the left makes the timeline smaller and dragging it to the right makes it larger, which is great when you're working with detailed stuff like keyframes.
And that's literally all there is to it! You can now save your gif! Here are my save settings that I use for literally every single gif I make:

The size limit for uploading a gif to tumblr is 10mb, so at a total of 80 frames (40 each), my gif is too large. In this case, I'm okay with deleting some layers from each, but a tool I use a lot if I don't want to lose frames is ezgif's optimizer. when i tell you this website is a literal lifesaver! you select your gif, wait for it to upload, and then i always choose the first option, lossy gif. You may have to play around with the compression level to get the desired size and quality, though. At compression level 100, my gif is only 5.8mb, but it's pretty noisy. I don't always mind noise (in fact, I add it to my gifs fairly often), but in this case, we have a lot of wiggle room. I played around a bit and found that at compression level 35, my gif still looks nice and comes in at 9.4mb. Right-click and save your gif from here and then upload it to tumblr just like normal!
First gif is using ezgif compression and second is the original gif, just with frames deleted. I ended up having to take off 14 frames in total, 7 from each gif, to come in at 9.5mb. You can decide which method you think looks better!

In this case, I like the 2nd one better as it's less noisy, but it all comes down to personal preference! From here, you can learn cool stuff like transition effects!

17. “The princess shouldn’t wait, you know?”
It was definitely one of the warmest and at the same time one of the windiest days of August this year. You just finished your morning shift at the restaurant – you were working as a waitress in one of the smaller but very popular sushi bars in the city center. You liked your job, and your co-workers and bosses were really great people; they were helpful, the atmosphere between you was very family and the whole team was so well-coordinated that you often met privately, e.g. as part of one of your birthdays or even during the wedding of another waitress working with you on shift.
However, you were not currently near your workplace, quite the opposite. You took the subway a little bit of the city to get to the club that your partner, Iori, owned. It was lunch time and you wanted to take your loved one for a quick meal and then go home and fulfill your duties, e.g. cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, and then preparing supper for the two of you (you’ve been living together for almost a year and it was a really good decision that strengthened your relationship and love a lot). Iori will certainly stay after hours at his job, which is why a late dinner together was your daily must-have.
The wind started to blow a little stronger. You almost wished you’d brought a thin sweater or a lightweight hoodie today to numb the visible shivers down your both arms.
So you quickly took out your phone with a colorful case on it, searching for your boyfriend’s number with his nickname and a cute red heart emoji.

You waited impatiently for a message from your boyfriend, but instead the dark-haired called you. You quickly answered the call, greeting him in a light tone of voice.
“... Honey, you should have texted me earlier that you were coming. I’ll try to be there as soon as possible, because I’m not at work at the moment. I went with the managers to one of the advertising companies... I’ll be there in less than half an hour, okay?” His voice was worried and a bit sad. He didn’t like to let you down, but lets be honest, it wasn’t his fault. You knew that and you didn’t blame him.
But still, you enjoyed teasing him.
“The princess shouldn’t wait, you know?” You said in a serious tone, holding back a laugh. You barely made it.
“But... baby...”
“Just kidding, Iori. I’ll wait for you at the pub and order us some food. Everything will be ready when you arrive. Sounds good? Don’t worry about it, really, it’s my fault that I didn’t tell you about my plans.”
“I should have written that I was going on business.” He admitted. “Zen should be in the building. Find him and ask him to drive you to this restaurant. You won’t be waiting for the bus... It looks like it’s going to rain soon. I don’t want you to get sick, my love.”
A slight smile appeared on your lips.
Korean BBQ is one thing and you really want some fried noodles, mushrooms and sweet corn, but the love your dearest partner gave you was definitely worth the wait and even better than a hot meal accompanied by music, the smell of tons of sweets and cool soda.
