♫ ❚❙❘ Guild masters were always famous in their own right, at least those who run guilds which such high reputations. However, to those in the music world, miss Hawthorne was famous in her own right. A woman who used mainly classical instruments like herself. By design of course, Olexa's mother was a fan of the genre, and raised her o learned those instruments first.

Come to think of it, was her mother also a fan of miss Hawthorne? The girl didn't realize she was staring, but unintentionally she was studying the other's face, trying to remember if it has appeared in any of the records her parents have left her with.

"...? Oh -- wow. When you said you were findin' me somethin' I didn't think you'd go all out."

He blinked at the ensemble, and had to admit it looked great. A suit all sleek black with conservative but elegant silver embroidering, a violet necktie to match the usual button-down he'd worn before joining. Ichiya had put thought into this. The gesture was in earnest, he was sure, and the suit was definitely one of the nicer ones he'd seen even around the guild.

Maybe even a little too nice, for someone like him.

He could at least try it on, a part of him chided. Sounded an awful lot like someone he knew, too...

"I dunno, Ichiya. Ain't it a bit....much? For me, at least."

He stood in front of a mirror a few minutes later, looking it over and adjusting his (slightly lopsided) tie almost nervously(not that he'd ever admit to that). It wasn't exactly a profound way of describing this, but it was the only word he could think of where it (hopefully) wouldn't be taken as negative. It really wasn't that he disliked it at all -- quite the opposite. He just felt...out of place, looking at himself in it. He turned to the perfume mage, hands shoved into his pockets as was his habit recently when his heavy coat wasn't draped over his shoulders.

THE YEAR HAD BEEN TOUGH on Erza. The aftermath of the battle against Tartaros had thrown her into a state of disquietude, spiraling as she fought against her inner demons. Ironic how she had defeated actual demons, only for her own inner demons to emerge. Her only solution was to run, distancing herself from her loved ones. She didn't want any of them to see her at her worst.

          She had spent her absence working on herself, determined to overcome the trauma. She couldn't say that she had completely recovered. But for the first time, she finally felt like herself. Her moral fortified by the reunion of Fairy Tail and the guild's restoration.

          She pays Mermaid Heel a visit, wanting to check on Kagura and Millianna. It dawns on her how much she had missed them. She has brought a gift basket as a token, handing them over upon her arrival. She briefly exchanges niceties with Kagura, who's occupied with something at the moment. After their greetings, she heads over to where Millianna is. Spotting the feline mage, she perks up and approaches her, running towards her and going for a hug.

zilla bit her lip. she knew she had to say something. but it was hard. words were hard sometimes. she didn't know how the others did it, how they could just ... say what was on their mind so much. didn't they have this huge wall in their head? why did zilla have it and others didn't? she felt her heart racing in her chest and looked down and away from kagura's kind, consoling face.

the problem was actually quite simple - she had a dream about her mama. her mama who died so that zilla could live. and though most days she knew in her heart that her mama would just be happy that zilla had a life, a family now in fiore, their destination... the words felt like ash. and kagura doesn't know that zilla's mamawas cut apart by mages who were scared of her, of zilla. it was zilla's fault though she doesn't remember what she did in the first place. why did her mama have to die?

unbidden, her eyes felt salty and her nose felt as if it was buzzing. the tell-tale sign of tears. and zilla tried so, so hard to stop them. "i...i dreamt of my mama." those were the only words that she was able to manage.

It only occurred to him after he said it that he wasn't sure exactly how much Jenny knew of his magics.

the raijavin clan or: the lore behind the dragon lacrima & why lacrima was an option for ivan in the first place

a lot of these ideas below were plotted with and discussed with by @varietales / momo. anything to do with l.axus is here is in tandem with my l.axus over at @withachanceoflaxus. still, in almost all canon-aligned verses, ivan has Some Sort of relationship with the clan.

X768. three years since the death of leona floros-dreyar. it was november of that year laxus gains the lacrima of a lightning dragon, awakening as a dragon slayer. where did that lacrima come from? well, it begins a long time ago.

hundreds of years ago, the lightning dragon ciemrai (art by motom hatono) protected a settlement of humans from other dragons, demons, evil mages; taught them how to hunt and fight and helped against famine. in return, they would offer the lightning dragon meals and shared their wealth. ciemrai and the humans lived together in harmony for a long time, the humans around her eventually seeing her as a deity who protected them and gave them knowledge. when the festival of dragons and the dragon king started to develop into a larger problem, ciemrai did her best to shield her people and herself through her own element — lightning storms. yet, it was not enough. word spread of how many dragons fell. ciemrai knew the time was coming.

and so, the war came. as it always did. and ciemrai, in all her yellow-gold glory fell. but the humans survived.

now this is where there’s a bit of a side-bar for how lacrima is formed. note: this ignores fairy tail 100 year quest, as does all of my blog and the following was a thought i had in 2020. if a person, being or area posses a high concentration of magic dies and is left secluded or undisturbed in any way — naturally occurring lacrima can be found. the lacrima normally takes after the magic around it. for example, healers can leave behind resurrection lacrima. if the being is made from magic, such as dragons, then the lacrima formed would be surrounded by the natural element that dragon had. in the case of ciemrai, the plateau where her and her people were became that of a plateau surrounded by naturally occurring lightning storms. and the people who lived there and protected the remains of their deity are the raijavin clan. 

the raijavin clan, as it is today, is filled with expert swordfighters, mages, academics, monks and farmers. there are elders of the clan who help lead it and families that made up the clan itself. all of them still pray to their deity and make offerings — a show of someone’s own strength being one of them. they are pretty secluded but it is possible for outsiders to seek aide from the clan should they need it. its also possible for outsiders to become members (this does not automatically add family unless you are a parent). however, in order to become a member there is a seven day trial show of strength that the elders and other community leaders oversee and to pass this trial, you must prove yourself. 

in june of X768 that ivan dreyar comes to the clan. with him are notes and research notes and pictures and anything a desperate father would have on hands to get lightning lacrima.

you see — since march of X765, ivan had been turning to more medical procedures and papers to heal his sickly son, whose immune system and magic clash often.the stress of it all made laxus quite weak most days but while his symptoms could be treated, the options of a cure were nothing more than a pipedream. ivan thought there had to be a stablizer, but what? it was a difficult biomagical question, since it was a clash of magic and body. luckily for ivan, though, his mother came from a world with no magic and was an expert with lacrima. the idea to use lacrima medically was proposed but deemed too dangerous. however, ivan had run many tests with different, viable lacrima. the test on pure, naturally made resurrection lacrima had created two immortal raven birds — whose wounds healed the moment they were given. 

but the interaction of a dragon-made lacrima that fit his son’s lightning affinity? there was a possibility it would work.

and so, ivan approached peacefully towards the clan and was very upfront about his wants. a literal piece of their deity. after much debate, elder mikazuchi’s voice of support was the one that swayed everyone else. if ivan managed to pass the trials and prove himself to the raijavin, they would allow him to take lacrima (but no more than he needed) and should his experiment be a success, which seemed possible to the clan, then he must return with his son. ivan fought back and wanted his son to be ready for such an event and another two days of debate later — the compromises were made and a deal was struck. not only would ivan get what he came for, he would be made an honorary member and should they call upon him, he had to answer like any other member of the clan. he accepted. it all hinged on ivan to prove himself.

seven days later, on july 7th, X768, ivan proved himself to the raijavin clan. he was welcomed in as an honorary member of the clan and was given the lightning lacrima. ivan swore on the lives of his mother and son on the memory of his wife that he would do his best as a member of the clan. 

ivan has kept all his promises with the raijavin. he has a house there with three bedrooms, he visits there once every six months to check in. during the time where there was an upkeep in cults, he provided his own body and self as assistance to threats to the clan. he has helped in the way of teaching, of healing and being an outsider diplomat of sorts when asked of him. he has proven himself worthy and continued to do so. the clan was always very aware of what ivan did and of the success of the surgery, he was venerated for that there. 

when ivan was excommunicated from fairy tail on December 16th X769 and had to leave magnolia and his son; he returned to the clan. it is here where he meditated his next steps and found a sort of purpose after everything. he kept in touch with laxus via communication lacrima that he gave laxus (in secret from makarov of course). 

eventually, the day that laxus would arrive in the raijavin would be coming. and it had to come sooner or later, the clan knew ivan was in communication with his son despite what happened. and though ivan felt he was too young, laxus was ready to prove himself. 

X774, May 16th, five days after laxus’ thirteenth birthday. ivan and laxus arrive to the raijavin clan together. on the way there, ivan told laxus about the clan - not everything ivan did to get the lacrima, he kept a lot of the experiments vague then and always has. 

special trials that no member had faced before awaited for laxus as he entered. and when he left it, a yellowed, magical scar on his left eye was there, living proof of a trial having happened and succeeded. laxus’ obvious strength even at a young age was there and the raijavin celebrated ciemrai’s magical heir.

ivan was just happy the surgery worked out for the best.

☂ ❚❙❘ Juvia is a hopeless romantic. A girl in love with the idea of love and being loved. Having her heart on her sleeve for the longest time has unfortunately left her very vulnerable to getting heart broken. Maybe it is because she feels so intensely it appears off putting, and even desperate. Whatever the reason, she struggled to hold down relationships for long.

There was a period where the girl locked down her heart. She was already perceived as gloomy, so acting cold was no different. It was a time where she focused her work as a mage, letting the drive of completing tasks drown out her other emotions. Not realizes that maybe masking who she is and how she feels was part of the problem with her never ending rain.

Things are much different now. Since joining Fairy Tail Juvia has become a lot more expressive. She does not shy away from speaking out, even in sometimes foolish manners. The guild had made her realize that wearing her heart on her sleeve is not something she should be ashamed of. It is clear she is also "inlove" but acts in a normal fashion surrounding it though, even if it is obvious she does not stalk or get unreasonably jealous over normal interactions.

Currently she is working on fostering her friendships. Realizing that platonic ones can be just as fulfilling as romantic. Still, she hopes for those cute interactions.

Laxus is far too fond of prints and should be stopped.

That being said, he's also stubborn and refuses to be. The reason Laxus has a snake-print shirt while in Pegasus? It was that or Laxus would keep grabbing his coat (that the Trimens hated seeing draped over the nice suits they got him) every few minutes. Ichiya was the one that got it as a compromise; and although it's more muted of a pattern than he prefers, he accepted it. This concession was one of the first points at which Laxus really started to open up to the perfume mage -- or anyone in Pegasus, really -- but it helped bridge the gap between them. The compromise was expanded on soon after: as long as Ichiya approved whatever it was he picked out, he could have his say on having patterns or no. Muted colors tended to win out, and he let it happen that way, but as time went on he picked more solid colored options as well -- in his own way, making a similar concession as Ichiya had in the beginning.

If asked, he wouldn't really describe his 'style' as anything specific -- he just picks things he likes and things that are comfortable. He's not entirely unwilling to listen to others' suggestions -- Evergreen was probably responsible for his (in)famous purple button-down around the Battle of Fairy Tail -- but he's typically got a few things he switches between and doesn't bother with it much otherwise.

His coat is extremely important to him, and he's very touchy about it. If he offers it to you, that's one thing -- but don't try to do anything with it without at least asking (and if he says no, leave it at that). It was his grandfather's on his mother's side, and she gifted it to him shortly before her death. He originally kept it at home as a teen, but as he got older (and after his father's removal from the guild) he started to wear it draped over his shoulders so he could keep better track of it. It's become somewhat iconic at this point; seeing him without it can be jarring for those close to him.

EVER SINCE THEY WERE KIDS, Erza had always been fond of Kagura. The affinity extended to their adulthood. They had their differences and misunderstandings, but she didn't hold any ill-feelings. She's glad that they're able to move on and renew their ties.

          She smiles as the other accepts her gift. ❝You're very welcome. I hope you like it.❞ The present may primarily be intended for courtesy, but the redhead also genuinely wants to give her something. It's not the first time she had bestowed her a gift. The moment draws out a brief memory of their time at the Rosemary village, reminiscing how she had surreptitiously left little Kagura a simple gift despite what little she had.

          ❝Then I shall make myself at home.❞ Erza watches her reaction as she opens the present. She had deliberated over what to give her, and decided on a weapon. It's something that she would have wanted for herself, but she also has a strong feeling that the the swordswoman isn't any different from her. A fond smile graces her lips, glad to see Kagura delighted.

          ❝It doesn't have special properties, but it expands into a Katana if you will it to,❞ she explains.

today was another adventure through the mountains which was some of zilla's favorite days. it was sunny and bright, which was amazing in of itself and she was with her sister, kagura. simon was somewhere, too, probably on the lookout for any bears while dad was focused on making the map. zilla giggled to herself as she waltzed over near a tree where she could hear birds singing - if she was correct on their calls, they were mountain chickadees. she peeled her eyes through the branches and sure enough, saw them up high and twittering about with their small bodies. they were so cute and so small. zilla did her best to watch them quietly, memorizing the scene so she may sketch it later.

moments later, she felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see her sister, kagura. kagura was not That much older than her, but sometimes it felt like it. zilla wondered if it was their height difference.

kagura was smiling at her and in her hands were some of the flowers around. zilla's face formed a smile immediately and she took the offered flowers. kagura knew a lot about flowers and somehow, always managed to find the prettiest ones around. these ones were purple, too!

"thank you kagura, they're so pretty!" zilla tucked them close to her and smelled them. they were sweet. "you're great at picking flowers."

Gajeel earned Pantherlily's respect in Edolas, and although the dragon slayer can have his... moments, he has never lost it since. The two work well together, both in combat and in peace, and Pantherlily knows that Gajeel will pull through when it counts, even if it's by force.

It also seems like Gajeel has a competitive streak, and Pantherlily is not one to back down from a (reasonable) challenge. I'm sure they have a few running bets/competitions between them that remain as yet unsettled to either's satisfaction.
