For a post-Valentine's Day celebration, Ben and I spent a weekend in downtown Toronto. When we met in Union Station, he gave me three roses with white specks on them. He said he got it because he thought I would like it and I did. They look cool and pretty.

This is the third time that Ben and I have spent Valentine's Day together since we became a couple three years ago. It's one of the days when we would get to celebrate. We don't often do it. Even on our month anniversaries (which we both find weird that people make a huge deal out of it but hey! you do you), we usually just get coffee or a bottle of wine. But Valentine's Day and our anniversary is a different thing.

We're so glad that we get to celebrate it together and in person now. The long distance that we used to deal with before was a huge challenge. We're glad that we're at least in the same country again.

One day, we won't have any distance at all.

Would really love it if Windows had a storage catching feature like ZFS has with using vdevs on faster disks. Been looking at an issue I got that requires this type of solution on Windows Server and I haven't been able to find anything except "PrimoCache". $120 perpetual license a bit too expensive for homelab, eh? 💀

It looks like for ZFS specifically the cutoff on performance is 80% as well. But it's highly situational a few people I've seen were getting up to 95 - 97% usage before they had measurable performance impact.

I think it's crazy that it can still operate that close to full.

Personally I'm upgrading storage not based on usage but on how heavy the ol wallet is getting. I want to add a second vdev early so my data going forward will have better IOPS.

Hey @truenas-official do you think 50TB of storage is enough or do I need more?
