New Tier Art on Patreon!

Hi folks! The absolutely incredible @morbidlizard did some new tier art for my Patreon, because the old squares are being made redundant as Patreon moves towards a new fixed theme of 'thin rectangles.'

I thought this would be an awesome time to introduce some new tier art of some of our favourite (and some of our upcoming) couples! And I thought you might all want to enjoy it here too because man, the art is so freaking good:

I love getting glimpses into your brain and hearing about your possible plans/ideas/or just far future possibilities of stories that have crossed your mind or that you're interested in exploring at some unknown point in the future

There will be more excerpts, but it's very very early days yet! (The whole idea didn't exist two days ago, and some very rapid worldbuilding and writing happened over a 24 hour period and that's literally all I had by the time I put up the excerpt yesterday).

I do have a chapter and a half though, and I'm hoping do a bit more. It's the end of the month and I've already written everything I need to re: all of my current stories, so I have some time to just kind of play around a bit.

As for some vaguenesses, it's an entirely new world (i.e. no connection to Fae Tales universe or anything like that) with entirely new characters.

It's a fantasy, with a lot of different races living alongside each other, where humans are generally considered the most 'throwaway' of all the races. (The main character is a human).

It'll be m/m.

There's multiple systems of magic alongside each other, but not everyone has magic, and not everyone has magic that's useful. As usual I'll be focusing a fair bit on class disparity and the rich partner / poor partner which I seem to really enjoy doing these days, lmao.

Oh, and it's a slavefic.

Ah, and there's going to be probably a fair amount of noncon / dubcon / xeno and a bunch of stuff like that. It's very 'a fantasy world where I get to create rules that make sadistic sex mandatory' lmao. I love those.

Some more Vexteria excerpts? Please? 🥺

I haven't written anything new since the last excerpts anon! That's very much like, at the bottom of my writing priorities pecking order, and I haven't been able to get to more of it because I pushed Constellations (the Gwyn + Efnisien Falling Falling Stars epilogue) a little higher and wrote 4 chapters of that instead.

BUT

I can still get u a lil excerpt :D

From chapter 2 of Vexteria (working title:)

There were only two people in the room. Only one that mattered to him. The Lucent was impossible to look away from.  The Lucent sat indolently in a chair, robes draped over his slender body, hiding most of it with pretty white and violet fabric embroidered with purple orchids and white fancy flowers that Evan had only seen once or twice at the florist's and didn't know the name of. The clothing made him seem like a girl, but the face - with its sharp jaw - was male. At least, Evan thought so, it was hard to be sure. The Lucent had hair the colour of Terrei lilacs, opaque at the roots, and clear at the tips, see-through lilac in between. It was long, straight and most of it was piled up at the top of his head, secured with an ivory hairpin. Earrings of lavender-coloured crystals dangled in silver chains from his pierced ears. Bored violet eyes considered him, and Evan tried his best to look as gormless and stupid and unnecessary as possible.  'Is that...some violet in your eye?' the Lucent said with a soft, amused voice. It was seductive. Reminded Evan of how some of the hookers talked when he walked by them sometimes in the streets, or when Franco had a few up in his tower.  The Lucent stood, walking over to him. He was elegant and Evan realised he knew how to move in all that fabric. If Evan was assessing him as an opponent, he'd think this one was like Wirrell - easy to underestimate, and probably shouldn't. The Lucent touched fingertips to the bottom of Evan's right eyelid, pulling down the skin.  'I'm blind there,' Evan said.

If you dont mind sharing, is Vexteria gonna be going to me an enemies-to-lovers story like Game Theory was? Or is it going to be something completely different?

Hiya anon!

Definitely enemies-to-lovers. And enemies-to-lovers-to-friends lol. It will probably be the closest thing to Game Theory that I've written since, er, Game Theory. I've changed a lot as a writer since then, so I don't know how similar it will actually be even with many of the same tropes.

It is an entirely new world though, and I can confirm we get sexual content in chapter 3, so it's definitely not a slow burn on that front either. It'll be a 'I don't see how these characters could ever have any feelings for each other and I hate this one he's awful - to - Oh my god they're so ride or die for each other it's hard to believe it was even possible' kind of story, but with some murder attempts along the way. :)

Omg Vexteria's design!!😳😳😳 He looks SO amazing! The aesthetic/mood of that pair kind of reminds me of Iason and Riki from Ai no Kusabi xD Ah but all the couples look fantastic, it's so nice to see Gary as well! And Mount's shit-eating smile! I'm very excited about the future couples^^

Ohhhhh, I didn't think of that, but yeah I can totally see the Ai no Kusabi aesthetic! Tbh there's some similarities, but then also some pretty big differences too. I do love some of the yaoi tropes though :D

I was so happy to get Silvia drawing Gary, that honestly made me thrilled, she did such an amazing job of everyone. When I saw Lewis Mount for the first time I about screamed, I have a bunch of sketches of him in different poses behind the scenes, and maybe Silvia will let me share them one day. He's wonderful :D

If I had to compare him to someone, I'd say he's our new Game Theory Augus. But worse. Like if Smoke in Autumn Augus was both immortal and could do very powerful magic and was treated like royalty by an entire city and believed slavery for the purposes of sexual sadism was just fine actually.

Wirrell didn't look up, his hands clutching his tail. Evan knew from the three times he'd been allowed to touch those tails, that they were soft and plush. He ached to touch them now, to pull Wirrell close to him, but that kind of love was forbidden, and there were some secrets even Wirrell wasn't allowed to know.

Huff (and otherwise whiff)?

Huff only turns up once!

After a quick lunch of stale bread with a thin spread of savoury, fermented wheat paste, Evan jogged through the streets to the Second Tower, taking the spiralling stone steps at the same speed, huffing his way through it even as his legs burned. Anything that kept his heartbeat up was good, sweating made him stronger, and a lot of the other boxers and fighters he was pitted against got exhausted way too quickly. They focused on their muscles and had nothing like stamina.

Squeezed (this is fun!)

Omg I'm having a great time. The only downside is I don't write all my chapters into one document, I write them all into separate documents. So I have like 16 documents open right now lol. :D

'You got the bad luck, and I got the good,' Evan said, reaching out and grabbing Wirrell's hand, squeezing it a few times before letting go. 'Let me get us through this. You'll see me tomorrow after the Trial, and it'll be golden. We balance each other out, remember?'

Vampire (I can't help it!)

I had two paragraphs to choose from, I chose the slightly more interesting one:

Evan's eyes flicked to the man named Bennett, who was in a fancy suit with a fancy waistcoat. Evan would have assumed he was some politician or businessman, but he stood with his hands clasped behind his back, like some servant, and he was quiet like a servant, too. He had brown skin, a shade lighter than what Evan was familiar with. His black eyes made Evan think he was a vampire, but that was just because of Franco. Not all vampires had black eyes, just most of them.

Something a little bit different (I use this word so often that this felt like I could choose whatever I wanted fasdlkjf):

'You here to bid or contract yourself out?' the man said tiredly. He had cat ears, but Evan couldn't tell what kind of cat. He felt a quiet gleam of excitement and envy. He wanted so badly to be some kind of felid, to have those cat qualities. They were so sharp and graceful in fights, Evan almost hated to beat them. The day he fought his last fight, he knew he'd be losing to some kind of felid. Even this tired guy who could probably get pushed over by a gust of wind still had that pretty sharpness about his eyes and his features.

I don't do tragic endings, anon, if the story's a long one.

I only do hopeful or happy endings. I'd say this one might lean more towards hopeful than outright happy, kind of like Game Theory in that sense.

Is Vexteria gonna be the villain of the story? No pressure to answer if it's too spoilery. I just was really intrigued by that excerpt

Yeeeesss? In a sort of 'he's the villain but also the main character' kind of way, lol. In a sort of 'he's part of the main pair in the series.'

He's a Smoke in Autumn Augus type.

There'll definitely be other villains who aren't main characters/the love interests!

Anon, to me he is like Bob from Bob's Burgers and he's only there for one chapter, so I'd say the power of your imagination is incredible and I'm so so here for it lsadkjfsa

(Not that there's anything wrong with Bob from Bob's Burgers though, he's just not the classic 'sexy vampire' that I tend to think of when people describe vampires as sexy, lol)

It may be coincidental because vampires really aren't a very big deal in this story at all lsdkfsdja

We see Franco for like 1 chapter and then he's gone, Evan is just...like that with everyone he meets x.x
