I've managed to see Afangar, the actual sculpture of nine pairs of basalt columns Richard Serra made on Viðey Island in Iceland in 1990, three times so far, but have only ever seen the tiny little prints he made about it once. Go figure.

Going back in time at the Settlement Exhibition

On a rainy afternoon, I stopped by the Settlement Exhibition right in the middle of downtown Reykjavik. It’s part of Reykjavik City Museum – there are five exhibitions in the group which also includes Árbær Open Air Museum, the Museum of Photography, the Maritime Museum over at Grandi and Viðey Island, which I did a very quick evening trip over to back in about 2013. Yoko Ono

Cut Piece (1964), Yoko ono performance, For the performance, Ono sat motionless on stage wearing a long-sleeved black suit, with a pair of scissors in front of her. An announcement to the audience invited them to “come on stage—one at a time—to cut a small piece of the performer’s clothing to take with them,” according to Ono’s original score for the artwork.
