Quotes: "Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious." Stephen Hawking; "You borrow from the greats, and make your own path without losing the core of who you are." Michael B. Jordan; "Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it." Tori Amos; "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do." Yellow by Coldplay
Symbols: The person is pouring water into a pool and onto the earth. This symbolizes continuing a cycle of fertility and healing the earth. The 5 streams on the earth represent the 5 senses. One foot is on the ground representing stability and common sense. The other is in the water, representing intuition. Their nudity means vulnerability. The big star is their core essence and the 7 smaller stars are the 7 chakras.
The feelings I have when thinking about this card are the same feelings I have when I'm looking at a starry sky, up in the mountains, with a new moon, when you can see absolutely everything. Wonder, curiosity, questioning my purpose, marveling at the cosmos, remembering that we are all made of stardust. There's a sense of healing that I also feel while looking at the stars, which is an important element of this card.
The stars can lift me up and humble me at the same time. They open my mind to a universe of possibilities, while also reminding me where I come from. And even though, I'm still trying to figure out my essence, my natural image of my core has always been a star. Something Between the Worlds brought up and I also believe is an important aspect of the card, is the fact that the figure is pouring water in two different places. One hand is pouring into a pool, water onto itself. And the other is giving back to the earth. Water can represent healing, inspiration, and a life force among other things. So this card is reminding me that while I remain open to healing and inspiration for myself, it's important to give back and share those things with other people and the earth.
As part of my study, I use the Tarot Card Meanings Workbook by Brigit Esselmont, biddytarotcard.com, brainyquotes.com (I use the card’s keywords to search for quotes that speak to me), Pinterest to look at other artistic interpretations, and Between the Worlds podcast.
i'm craving more profound and meaningful material in the vein of lotr after this rewatch. actually i just received a few books in the mail and one of them is rilke's book of hours which seems like the perfect follow up. the hildegard von bingen epigraph felt like a hit to the chest though....
