Lord huron fans would you all like me to talk about my ocs that I made up after most of the songs from Vide Noir. This was before I realized that the band had extended lore I didnt know about and I was making up the plot as I heard it. I've had them for a while but I never shared them bc I was embarrassed LOL

Album review: “Vide Noir” by Lord Huron
This one was recommended to me by the lovely @zaycheese!
I really quite enjoyed this album! Some of the singing annoyed me a bit and was, as my dad would say, “sing-songy”. However I enjoyed the actual music enough that this didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the music. I’ll definitely be listening to this album again. I really enjoyed the sort of spacey theme it had. It’s a vibe.
Thanks for recommending it Zay!

What's up vide noir fandom. Is this anything
[Image ID: A digital sketch-reference-thing of Buck Vernon from Vide Noir, except he's been turned into an anthropomorphic whitetail deer skeleton. He's even got cute deer ears. He holds his guitar in one skeletal hand, hollow eye sockets holding just tiny lights in them. In the top two corners are profiles of his skull; to the left, with Vide Noir dripping down his jaw, and to the right, with smoke billowing from the mouth. Another sketch shows Buck staring sadly at his emerald ring, thinking about the past or something. The whole image is tinted in dark green, and a starry background sits behind the drawings. A box in the bottom left is titled 'Buck Vernon But Weird', and lists four points: 'Whitetail deer skeleton', 'usually coughing something up', 'Blackened brain, charred lungs, and worst of all, a broken heart :(', and 'he's so sad it's like if depression had a fursona'. End ID]

y'know, i've Heard Of the balancer's eye, but i don't really know much about it. would you care to elaborate? doesn't have to be comprehensible btw
good cause it wont be comprehensible CRACKS KNUCKLES
The Balancers Eye is my favorite song in the album Vide Noir along with. well the actual song Vide Noir but they both go kinda hand in hand
like listen we all know the lore of Vide Noir we saw the movie this is an album about Buck Vernon but before i knew about any of that it felt to me like two opposing perspectives head to head about this heartbreaker girl that that Lord Huron LOOOOVES to sing about. however that is a tangent for another day (and if you wanted to humor me and ask me about my initial thoughts on vide noir outside of the lore id be delighted)
but like The Balancers Eye is such a different personality from the beginning of the album??? we hear mention of "an ancient master" and curses as well as Back From The Edge being a MUCH different speed from the first couple of songs. but it feels like The Balancer coming immediately after is this completely seperate entity and it is SOOOO fucked up and weird and i LOVE IT. SO MUCH let me get lyrics
RIGHT off the bat in this song we hear "heaven never ever heard a word i said, ive cried enough to raise the dead" NOW WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN. and the lyrics "heaven wont let me in, I dont know why // noone ever loved you half as much as I" MAKES ME INSANE because it is SELF EXPLANITORY this entity is FORSAKEN from the sheer VOLUME of love it contains and the implications of being FORBIDDEN from death and FORBIDDEN from heaven because of LOVE. "will i ever be forgiven for the crime of my life" WHAT CRIME. a crime i can only assume was made out of the same destructive love that cast the balancer out of death. out of love. and dont get me STARTED on the end of the album and Emerald Star youll be here for days

Vide Noir CD + Late night driving = dangerous yet heavenly combo
It’s such a heavenly pairing to listen to vide noir this way. but whenever songs like secret of life or ancient names p2 (even p1) starts playing, the urge to book it and reach light speed levels grips me so intensely. nonetheless, man they might’ve put some of that vide noir stuff in the album, bc goddamn what an experience it is to just drive in dimly lit pitch black streets at night hearing this masterpiece. this is the way ben came up with the album (apart from watching noir films) so might as well uphold the creation by listening to it in the same way!
