Eight home kitchens finished with tactile brick floors
Our latest lookbook collects eight houses from around the world that feature kitchens with tactile brick floors, including a mid-century home in the USA and a coastal dwelling in Denmark. Widely used for their durability and low maintenance, bricks are a long-time favourite material across the fields of architecture, interiors and design. They are most commonly used on walls and patios, but also popular as internal flooring because of their ability to add rich, earthy tones and tactile qualities to an interior.  While brick flooring may conjure up images of old rustic farmhouses, this roundup shows how they can also be adapted to suit contemporary homes around the world.  The examples below include those that have been arranged in herringbone format, used as a backdrop to oak cabinetry or designed to connect homes to their matching patios outside. This is the latest in our lookbooks series, which provides visual inspiration from Dezeen's archive. For more inspiration, see previous lookbooks featuring conversation pits, autumnal living rooms and lavish members' clubs.

Photo by Carlos NaudeHacienda Granada, USA, by Working Holiday Studio Working Holiday Studio sought to create a "hacienda vibe" for this mid-century home that it overhauled in Los Angeles. Among the alterations was a revamp of the kitchen, which involved adding a floor of warm terracotta bricks handmade in Tijuana, Mexico, arranged in a herringbone format. They contribute to a warm and earthy aesthetic in the room, which is enhanced by dark green plaster walls and wooden joinery and furniture. Find out more about Hacienda Granada ›

Photo by Jonas Bjerre-PoulsenHeatherhill Beach House, Denmark, by Norm Architects Norm Architects also opted for brick flooring in the kitchen of Heatherhill Beach House, a wooden holiday home on the Danish coast. It was designed as a contemporary twist on the traditional brick flooring found in Denmark. "The bricks are placed side by side instead of in the traditional pattern and have minimal cuts – instead, the grout size changes minimally to achieve a homogenous and harmonious look," the studio explained. Its design formed part of a wider strategy for the home that sought to better connect it to its garden. This is also achieved by introducing large green-framed windows that enhance sight lines and maximise natural light. Summer of ‘83
a playlist inspired by the movie ‘Call me by your name’
It’s 1983 and you’re spending the summer in Italy. It’s mid-July and an unexpected heat wave is keeping the average day temperature above 38°C (100,4°F). Barefoot, you stroll down the main hallway of the historic villa you’re staying at, enjoying the sensation of walking on cold marble tiles - a portable cassette player in your hand and a small bottle of chilled Sanpellegrino orange juice in the other. As you step outside, into the garden, the scorching hot air takes your breath away; dirt and dry grass tickle your toes so you pick up the pace until you find some shade and sit under the branches of a majestic magnolia tree. You can hear the relentless chirping of crickets through the headphones, even though your favorite music is playing...
ǁ LISTEN ǁ
1. Billie Jean (Michael Jackson) ǁ 2. Nell’aria c'è (Umberto Tozzi) ǁ 3. Vamos a la playa (Righeira) ǁ 4. Let’s dance  (David Bowie) ǁ 5. Nell’aria (Marcella Bella) ǁ 6. Every breath you take (The Police) ǁ 7. Jeopardy (Greg Kihn Band) ǁ 8. Tropicana (Gruppo Italiano) ǁ 9. Do you really want to hurt me (Culture Club) ǁ 10. Too Shy (Kajagoogoo) ǁ 11. How would li’s have met outside of the villa?
OK, so, since my bff @i-boop-you already answered a pretty similar ask for every s2 and s4 islander, I’m doing my favorites for this one.
TIM
Tim is a DJ, so I’m leaning towards they meeting during one of his gigs. So, I’m thinking maybe during a party? An uni party, to be specific. MC catches his eyes instantly, she is, with no doubt, the hottest girl there and they keep stealing glances at each other. We know Tim is anything but shy, so he WILL shoot his shot, making his way to her as soon as he can leave his booth or maybe nodding his head at her with that cocky smile that shows his dimples.
They flirt like that all night and you know that he’s leaving with her contacts. I think MC would give him her Instagram handle and they would be liking each other’s pics before him get to slid into her DMs (not longer than the end of the week, that’s for sure.) And finally, he would ask her on a date.
TALIA
Ok, so, Talia says she likes going to music shops and I headcanon her to be a vinyl kinda gal, you know? So, picture this:
Man, is raining and cold outside, you just found this little shop that sells some old and rare vinyls and you had to check it out. Plus, it will keep you safe as the world is ending outside. There’s not too many costumers and a really soft song is playing in the background.
You found a really rare vinyl of a band you just can’t get enough off. You went to the band’s concerts, have signed shirts, cds, posters. You go to grab the vinyl and your hands brush with someone else. She’s she most gorgeous woman you have ever seen. You two laugh at the situation and talk about the band a little before changing info and agreeing for going to grab some coffee some day (meaning tomorrow.)
BOBBY
I truly had to keep myself from writing that the destiny made them meet because I’m a hopeless romantic, anon, but you deserve better than that, so…
As a hospital caterer, it makes me lean to MC being sick or recovering from a surgery or something and he’s the one bringing her food. She likes him and she keeps telling her friends about the cute and funny freckled boy. Soon enough they’ll be crushing on each other and he’s bringing her especial things.
Don’t tell anyone this, lass but I brought you a cupcake.
He makes her laugh, keeps her happy while she stays there and when she recovers he is kind of sad ‘cause he thinks they’ll never see each other again but that’s when she asks him for his number.
KASSAM
Since I made Tim the DJ gig, I’m giving Kassam a spin.
He’s really reserved, shy and quiet, so I cannot help but making his MCs sunshine on earth. I think she would be the one to drag him around if anything. I have two MCs for him and them both are so opposite to him that somehow they match perfectly. You know, that pic of the two houses, one pink the other black? That’s the vibe I’m going for.
So, since Kassam is a little more successful than Tim (assuming Tim never went to Love Island and blew up, that it) I think he’ll need a team and I’m making MC part of that team. She’s always talking with everyone, about everything and just being this ball of positivity that makes Kassam sick.
He really thinks she’s annoying and sooo fake but then she starts helping him. Some minions band-aids when he cuts his finger accidentally, some encouraging words before he hops on stage, some hot chocolate when it’s too cold and he needs to be warm because he’s sick… that makes his cold heart melt and he’s cheeks turn pink and the butterflies, man…
CARL
Ok, so many possibilities. Maybe his family is sending him in a bunch of blind dates (is that a thing, still, or did a watch too many k-dramas?) But here’s what I thought
Having a really full schedule, I think Carl would have little to no time for dating. Maybe he has an account on Tinder but I’m guessing he barely checks it. Even so, somehow, he always manage to sneak to his favorite coffee shop to work in peace without the others' commotion.
Is a really quiet place where he can hide in the same little spot in the corner. The same girl always takes his orders and with time she doesn’t even need to ask him what he wants anymore, she just brings him. She is quite chattery sometimes but he never minded her, even though normally he would hate that when he’s working. One day, he decides to ask her one of his hard level riddles and when, after an hour, she comes back with the right answer, he feels something.
AJ
My baby girl is a flirt. She’s always flirting with them other girls, making them giggle and twirl their hair. She’s also a ray of sunshine and has this Golden Retriever energy all around her.
I’m thinking a classic here. AJ plays hockey for her uni team, so she needs to keep her grades above average but god bless her, she’s a little behind in one of her classes, so her professor tells her she needs a tutor, and that’s when MC enters.
But MC is like so not like the other girls, you know? She doesn’t like the flirt (yeah, she does, but she keeps it to herself). She doesn’t like jocks (again, she is a terrible liar ‘cause of course she does). But even so, she ends up falling for it and AJ falling for her. God is a woman and AJ found her. (Love you King Princess)
ANGIE
ANGIE SCREAMS FRIENDS TO LOVERS. So, I’m thinking, a work colleague? Or maybe someone she partied with on one of her rare days off. What matters the most is that they were friends at first, definitely. And MC is the reason Angie has a full on gay crisis (quoting Heartstopper? Yeah I am) and goes, WELL MAYBE I LIKE GIRLS.
And soon enough it all makes sense, you know, why boys were never her thing to begin with. Why she’s always boycotting her relationships. And why she keeps daydreaming about kissing one of her best friends.
When she finally founds the courage to tell her, MC giggles and say “It took you too long” and they kiss and it’s fireworks, butterflies, angels singing.
Romance peaked.

Transform Your Kitchen with a Fresh Coat of Paint
Tumblr media
DAVID A. LAND
Are you building a new house and planning your dream kitchen? Or maybe you’re craving a fresh, new look for your existing kitchen. It’s true what they say: The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where you and your family will spend lots of time, and where your guests will likely end up congregating. It should be a space that feels inviting and relaxing and also delivers the style and personality you want your home to reflect. Do you want a light and airy kitchen? A happy and whimsical space? Or a cozy, rustic kitchen? No matter the look, your starting point should be in establishing the color palette. An all-white kitchen will always be a classic, timeless look, but don’t be afraid to bring in some color, even in a small kitchen. The paint color—even the exact shade of white—you choose for the walls will instantly set the tone.
You're reading: Transform Your Kitchen with a Fresh Coat of Paint
One of the ways to make the biggest impact is to paint your kitchen cabinets. Whether it’s painting a dark wood a bright white to lighten your space, or taking white cabinets to a deep, saturated hue that creates a warm, cozy kitchen, or even a new coat of a bright yellow or blue to add a punch of personality, changing the color of your kitchen cabinets will instantly transform your room. (If you’re planning to go the DIY route, read this article for tips on how to paint kitchen cabinets. Yes, even laminate cabinets!) For even more inspiration, check out some of our favorite kitchens for many more kitchen decorating ideas, including kitchen island ideas, hardware inspiration, lighting, and even some ways to use wallpaper.

Pale Blue and White
This blue and white combination brings us all the cool, calm coastal vibes in this kitchen designed by interior and textile designer Heather Chadduck Hillegas.
3 of 31
Blue-Black
This moody hue is making us crave a rainy day indoors with a cup of tea while bread bakes in the oven. It is the perfect dull blue that still feels warm and rich.
4 of 31
Historic Blue
This timeless blue is be a part of Benjamin Moore’s historic collection. It feels traditional but fresh in this kitchen designed by Grace Mitchell, especially off of the copper and bronze lighting.

The white walls of this kitchen designed by James Farmer feel fresh and bright off of the rich green cabinets and pair perfectly with the natural wood shelves and oven hood.

Dark Teal
These dark cabinets work beautifully off of a bright white marble sink and earthy green tiles.

Gray and White
We love gray in any room and especially in this kitchen designed by Sara Davis. The soft gray cabinets pop against the dark brown wood floors, creating a modern yet simple combination.

Canary Yellow and Blue
Read more: Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan – Wikipedia
Look no further than the classic yellowware bowl for proof that blue and yellow make for a timeless country combo, as seen here in this 98-square foot galley kitchen that features canary-yellow cabinets and quilt-like cement tiles. The petite 20-inch range maximizes cabinet space in the small kitchen.

Pure Black
When homeowner Bailey McCarthy moved into her century-old Texas farmhouse, the wall were a boring beige and the cabinets, which vary in height, were white. “Painting everything black seemed like a good way to make the cabinets blend in with the wall,” says Bailey. She balanced the dark statement color with butcher block countertops and brass hardware and lighting.

Soft Taupe
When you want to add little color but don’t want it to overwhelm, look to a soft taupe. The appealing neutral adds a warm, but airy, swathe of color. It’s a color that also pairs well with stained wood cabinets.

Bright Blue
One Kings Lane designer Sarah Blank opted for a calming blue for the shelves, brackets, and walls, of this kitchen, lending more cohesion to the space.

Sunny Yellow
Designer Alison Kandler and homeowner Jenn Chiarelli found the perfect sunny shade for the kitchen island in Jenn’s bright California farmhouse by pulling paint chips of colors that simply made Jenn feel happy. Then they found ways to incorporate the hues into the kitchen to create a look that is as colorful as it is cheerful. The black woven stools add a grounding element to the candy-colored space.

Gray Green
Designer Heidi Caillier chose a soothing green—that is a little bit gray and a little blue—for the Shaker-style cabinets. “It changes with the light,” Heidi says. “It also feels traditional to me, which is what I really wanted.” The color pairs particularly well with soapstone countertops and unlacquered brass bail pulls and knobs. Six-inch terra cotta hex tiles add distinct richness to the artfully layered kitchen.

Off-White
When you have a lot of natural wood in your kitchen, pure white walls can feel too stark, especially if you’re going for a rustic kitchen look. Instead, choose a warm white that has just a touch of gray in it for a color that complements wood tones and works well with other warm neutral colors.

Turquoise Blue
You couldn’t pick a better blue than the color of the original paint found on these salvaged tongue-and-groove boards. The turquoise tone compliments the buttery-yellow appliances, knotty pine floors, and barn wood cabinets to create a charming rustic farmhouse-style kitchen.

Pure White
There is nothing more timeless, yet completely fresh, than an airy all-white kitchen. The look works especially well with kitchens that have varying textures (both literally and visually), such as the shiplap planked walls and open shelving in this dreamy kitchen, which keep an all-white space from feeling stark and sterile.

Washed Turquoise & Buttery Yellow
To give her kitchen cabinets a slightly weathered look, Jolie Sikes of the Junk Gypsies first coated the cabinets with blue interior oil stain, then used a rag to apply and partially rub off a layer of wood stain. “Embrace color,” says Jolie. “Just because kitchens are utilitarian rooms doesn’t mean they should be quiet, sterile, or boring.” The buttery walls, combined with the natural wood stain on the windows, trim, and beams, create a warm backdrop for the room’s bold cabinetry and accents such as Jolie’s barstool mix—a pair of swiveling red tractor seats plus a vintage vinyl-covered number.

Bright Green
In her South Carolina home, homeowner Lauren Northup looked down for her color play. Taking her color cue from the grass green floors at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, she choose to paint the kitchen floors a striking green. “Blues and greens mean rest, home, and happiness to me,” says Lauren. “This color on my kitchen floor is a good balance with the bright white walls and cheerful checked curtains.”

Sky Blue
In their cozy converted schoolhouse project, designers Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke of Madcap Cottage looked outside for the kitchen’s color inspiration. They removed the small room’s drop ceiling and installed tongue-and-groove rafters, now swathed in a dreamy shade of sky blue—a design trick seen on Southern porches. “The color draws the eye up,” says Jason, “which makes the room feel like it stretches to the sky.”

Crisp White
Don’t feel badly if you’re a bit picky. Marsha Ahearn, the owner of this summer retreat in Martha’s Vineyard, painted her kitchen with a 50/50 blend of two shades to get her ideal white. It’s the perfect backdrop to let your brightly colored accessories pop.

Cheery Yellow
This sunny kitchen proves there is no such thing as too much of a good thing. Its Shaker-style cabinetry, as well as its walls and those of the adjoining breakfast nook, are all awash in a bright and cheery yellow. Glass cabinet fronts and white trim, fixtures, and appliances add a punch against the solid color and help keep the space feeling light.

Forest Green
Most people opt for white in the kitchen, but this rustic kitchen is bathed in moodier hues. The paneled cabinets are painted in an earthy forest green while the fir beadboard is a golden brown—giving the 75-square-foot small kitchen a jewel box feel. An ivory apron-front sink offers a burst of brightness.

Celadon Green
In this Massachusetts beach house kitchen, the Wood-Mode cabinetry is painted a pretty celadon green that is crisply set off by a white subway tile backsplash. It’s a pairing that brings a kitchen pretty color without overpowering. Cape Cod artist Tim Dibble custom-carved the kitchen’s slate apron-front sink to incorporate local icons: a windmill, whale, lighthouse, and the word “riptide.”

Bright Yellow and Blue
There’s nothing more appealing than a blue-and-white kitchen. And you can’t beat a yellow kitchen for a happy setting. We say combine the two for a true win-win. This Kentucky kitchen proves the point beautifully with its pairing of a warm blue-and-white quilt-patterned tile backsplash and a light and bright yellowy-green painted island. White wall cabinets and butcher block countertops keep things balanced.

REVIEW #1 - December 21, 2020
“Exile On Main Street” - The Rolling Stones - 1972
What’s up y’all!  HERE WE GO!  Even though these reviews are going to officially start in the NEW YEAR, I figured, let’s kick things off with a couple around the holidays.  And besides...we fucking love music.  So let’s get this party started.
First, let me introduce myself.  My name is Mark.  I’m an L.A. based keyboardist by way of New Orleans, by way of Philly, by way of New Jersey by way of upstate NY....I know, my head hurts too.  But I promise, that’s as confusing as shit is going to get.  I promise.  I hope.  Ok, I promise.  I’ve been a touring musician for 15 years and in my travels I’ve met a lot of cool people and incredible musicians and music lovers.  One thing they all have in common?  They listen to a shitload of music...all the freaking time.  And love to talk about it.  Which is why I started this blog.  It’s mainly just an opportunity for me to share my thoughts about new and old music...some I know, some I just listened to.  And honestly, I don’t care if I have 1 follower or 1,000 followers.  I just want to share my love of music with whoever...wherever...whenever.  Or no one at all...I talk to myself quite a bit.
Ok, so here goes!  I narrowed my first few reviews down to a couple of classics and ultimately chose “Exile On Main Street” by the Rolling Stones (1972) as my very first!!!  I think the main reason for this pick, is I just finished Keith Richards’ book and man...I freaking loved it.  What a gentle human being...and one hell of a songwriter and musician.  I’ve worked with musicians who hate the Stones because they say the music sounds too raw, unrehearsed, or they’re not great musicians...etc etc whatever...Mick Jagger can’t sing....you know...you’ve heard them all.  But dammit...all of those things are what give them them a certain charm.  The songs (ALL or MOST of their songs through the years) are brilliantly written and recorded.  And as a musician, I love raw and unrehearsed...after all, the best rehearsal is a gig.
So let’s get to it.
This was the Stones’ 10th studio album which began recording during the Sticky Fingers sessions in 1969 and continued in 1971 at their French Villa in Nellcote.  The band was living in France as British Tax Exiles having not paid taxes (which were extremely high) on their previous earnings.  The final touches of this record were put on a Sunset Sound in L.A. with Nicky Hopkins (piano), Bobby Keys (sax), Jimmy Miller (drums) and Jim Price (horns) joining the session.
I confess, this is one album I hadn’t listened to that much as a Stones fan.  I had always been more into Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers...but holy crap.  I was missing something really special.  The album kicks off with blues and boogie woogie tracks “Rocks Off”, “Rip This Joint” and “Shake Your Hips”.  Keith Richards plays most of the guitars and bass on the entire album although Bill Wyman makes an appearance on some of these blues tracks.  Although, I read somewhere that he was trying to distance himself from Keith and his drug addict antics, and so spent most of the months at his personal home in the French countryside and not in the recording studio.
At the end of Side 1, we get the Stones classic “Tumblin’ Dice”.  A great tune in it’s own right, but honestly not one of my favorites.  Maybe because of how over-played it’s been.  Mick Taylor, who is the 2nd guitaist with the group during this era, plays bass on Tumblin’ Dice.  Man...Wyman was just not into it.
Side 2 has the ballad “Sweet Virginia” which I’ve played in bands before and man, it sounds so raw and REAL.  I freaking love it.  But again, those recording purists who need everything OVERPRODUCED are going to hate it.  Fuck em’.  It’s the shit.  Another highlight on Side 2 is of course “Loving Cup”.  I love Nicky Hopkins’ piano playing on this.  His playing with the Stones and later, Chuck Leavell was a huge influence on my career and playing.  For sure!  Can’t forget “Torn and Frayed” also...classic Stones.  That country, Americana vibe...with Mick Jagger’s Brit-Blues twang.
OK OK...I’m long-winded...I’ll get right to it.  Side 3 get’s down and dirty with “Ventilator Blues”, “Turd on The Run” and “Happy”.  The Blues is the soul of the Rolling Stones and these tunes (not to mention the whole album) really capture that vibe.  Finally with Side 4, “Shine a Light” is my happy jam.  And the back-up singers (who are all over this record) are freaking incredible.  Produced by Jimmy Miller and engineered mostly by Glyn & Andy Johns, I can’t say enough about this record.  And having on;y listened to a handfull of times prior to now, man oh man...I was missing something really special.
Ok...I’ll wrap this up...and yes, I promise to make reviews in the future much much shorter...I hope.  This album is a 10 out of 10 for me.  That’s right...it will be the first album reviewed and the first entry into my album Hall of Fame.  We’ll see where we go from here.  Pick it up on vinyl or listen to the Deluxe version on Spotify.  But if you like artist...buy their music...Spotify is great, but if you truly love something, please let the artist know by buying their music.  And yes, that includes super stars like The Stones.  I know they don’t need the money...but that isn’t the point.  They were once hoofin’ it in clubs and sharing an apartment in London with rats and one mattress to share.  Classic album...pick it up and keep on jamming y’all.  Happy Holidays and we’ll talk soon.!

🌝 Camilla Luna is the versatile voice behind some of the most significant EPs and singles from Norwegian clubbing world with releases on Bpitch Control, Eskimo, Bogota and Cymawax to name but a few. Born Camilla Molvær Vazquez she is a Norwegian/Uruguayan songstress who was later dubbed Luna, in the Charrúa way by her Uruguayan father.
Traversing the world of Soul, Jazz and R&B through a singular artistic identity, she works comfortably within electronic soundscapes. Hers is a sound that errs on the side of raw, futuristic, wonky & bumpy with clear references to the 80s, Funk/Jazz/Soul, Hip Hop & R'n'B. She has worked closely with producer BHLB aka Baz (Streetology Studios) since 2006, and although they brought 2016 seminal Open UP to the world, their work together has remained largely hidden from the world, with many hidden gems still awaiting release. Some of her previously releases also include music on WahWah 45s, People Love Music and Echorek Records, and she continues to work with established artists like Trulz & Robin, Usmev & Arildo as that singular voice for Norwegian club music and beyond. Her years of improvising vocals with musicians and DJs at renowned Oslo clubs like Blaa, Jeager, and The Villa have given Camilla a knack for accompanying electronic rhythms with haunting, tuneful melodies. Camilla joins producer BHLB for soulful and raw vocals recorded in one take over futuristic, bass-heavy, and delightfully offbeat tracks. The styles and tempos vary wildly, but the sound throughout is unified in a deceptively organic Ex Machina woman-meets-machine vibe. Raspy, enigmatic vocals bite and tear at lyrics flirting with concepts of love, friendship, and the realities of a life as a musician, with the technical intent of jazz and the passion of R&B. Finding a happy equilibrium somewhere between Erykah Badu and TLC’s T-Boz, Camilla’s vocals engage at a literal level, where she draws you into the murky nether world of BHLB’s music. Bold, creeping synth movements orchestrated around restrained beats find that perfect balance between contrast and harmony. Camilla Luna’s Lost & Found, is exactly as the title suggests, a collection of musical rarities. :/text taken from Cymasonic Recordings website and remixed by Dalien Zopel/ To know more about 𝕮𝖆𝖒𝖎𝖑𝖑 𝕷𝖚𝖓𝖆 and 𝕮𝖞𝖒𝖆𝖘𝖔𝖓𝖎𝖈 𝕽𝖊𝖈𝖔𝖗𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌𝖘: cymasonic.bandcamp.com/album/lost-found soundcloud.com/8dpromo/camilla-luna-lost-found-cymasonic subwax.es/product/cymawax004/  creditsreleased March 18, 2022 🌝 Music: 𝑩𝑯𝑳𝑩 Lyrics and voice: 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝑳𝒖𝒏𝒂 Music courtesy of Cymasonic Recordings; tracks extracted from 𝕷𝖔𝖘𝖙 & 𝕱𝖔𝖚𝖓𝖉, ᴄʏᴍ002ʟᴘ, 14 August 2017 and 𝕺𝖕𝖊𝖓 𝖀𝖕 EP ᴄʏᴍᴀᴡᴀx004 Vinyl, 12", Limited Edition, 14 September 2015.

Premier League predictions: Lawro v Sister Bliss from Faithless
Tumblr media
Tottenham have by no means earlier than been to this point above Arsenal going right into a Premier League north London derby, however will type depend for something on Sunday?
Spurs, who’re prime of the desk after 10 matches and haven’t misplaced within the league because the opening weekend of the season, are assured to be no less than 12 locations above the Gunners at kick-off.
Their earlier largest benefit was 11 locations, when Spurs had been tenth and Arsenal had been twenty first earlier than they met on the second weekend of the 1993-94 marketing campaign. Arsenal gained that recreation 1-0.
“Arsenal’s efficiency within the win in opposition to Manchester United firstly of November was glorious,” BBC Sport soccer skilled Mark Lawrenson stated. “However since then they have not come anyplace close to that within the Premier League.”
Lawro is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches this season, in opposition to a wide range of company.
This weekend, he’s up in opposition to Sister Bliss, from iconic digital outfit Faithless.
Faithless have simply launched All Blessed, their first studio album for 10 years, and have launched a marketing campaign for the Select Love Assist Refugees charity known as #playitforward which is designed to lift cash for charity via the sharing and giving of music.
“Play It Ahead seems like a soccer charity, nevertheless it is not,” Sister Bliss instructed BBC Sport. “Together with a number of different artists, we’re signing and auctioning a number of vinyl to assist people who find themselves residing in probably the most unimaginably robust situations.”
Tumblr media
Sister Bliss is an enormous fan of Manchester United ahead Marcus Rashford and his work to lift consciousness of kid meals poverty within the UK. “Props to Marcus. He’s probably the most extraordinary sportsman, and a correct hero. He provides footballers the most effective identify.”
Followers returned to soccer matches this week and Sister Bliss is aware of all concerning the distinction a crowd makes when you find yourself performing – whether or not it’s music or sport.
“In the mean time our new music cannot exist within the area that it was alleged to – with a reside viewers at an indoor venue or competition,” she defined.
“The album is concerning the life we live proper now, and discovering empathy and tolerance, and the issues in life we have to nurture us and join us to one another.
“It’s got very heat vibes – individuals have stated it’s like getting an enormous hug. You may nonetheless expertise that listening to it via your headphones, however I’m simply gutted I am unable to play it to individuals in particular person and have that incredible connection, which is a unprecedented feeling.
“Sport is similar. For the previous few months, the emotion and power you get from being the particular person enjoying in entrance of a crowd, and the place that takes you, has been lacking from the expertise.
“Let’s hope all of us get it again quickly, as a result of all of us yearn to really feel that once more.”
Tumblr media
Faithless are used to performing to 1000’s of individuals at festivals and arenas
Sister Bliss is well-versed within the fortunes of a number of completely different London soccer golf equipment due to her Tottenham-supporting dad and her band-mates – Maxi Jazz is a Crystal Palace fan and affiliate director of the Eagles, whereas Rollo Armstrong follows Arsenal.
“I really feel like I’ve acquired allegiances in north London and south London,” she added. “Is that even allowed?!”
“However Arsenal in all probability want all of the assist they will get proper now. As Rollo lamented to me this week, they can not get their act collectively in the mean time.”

Match report
SUNDAY
Tumblr media
West Brom v Crystal Palace (12:00 GMT)
Palace missed the spark of Wilfried Zaha within the defeats by Burnley and Newcastle – they want him again.
Slaven Bilic’s Baggies beat Sheffield United final week, however they held on for that three factors. He’ll assume this can be a recreation the place his aspect must get three extra. Will he play a barely extra offensive workforce due to that?
I fancy Palace at The Hawthorns although.
Lawro’s prediction: 1-2
Sister Bliss’ prediction: 1-1
Tumblr media
Sheff Utd v Leicester (14:15 GMT)
Final season the Blades had been excellent, however they did not rating that many objectives. Strikers David McGoldrick, Oli McBurnie, Lys Mousset and Rhian Brewster, though he is unproven, have all come up from the Championship and that’s the downside.
It is that second-season syndrome. I believe they had been enjoying means above themselves final marketing campaign. They’re nonetheless troublesome to beat however they are not making sufficient possibilities.
I believe Leicester have some actually tremendous gamers however I do not see them ending within the prime six. You’ve got seen within the house video games ahead Jamie Vardy denied area to run into, whereas they’ve gained 4 of their 5 away video games as a result of groups are approaching to them.
I anticipate them to beat the Blades.
Lawro’s prediction: 1-2
Sister Bliss’ prediction: 1-2
Tumblr media
Tottenham v Arsenal (16:30 GMT)
Tottenham are a greater aspect than Arsenal, a extra dependable aspect and they’re superior defensively which is largely all the way down to the supervisor and his philosophy.
Jose Mourinho’s forwards Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have additionally been the most effective two within the league bar anyone, and can give the Gunners defence a tricky time assuming Kane is match.
Arsenal do not appear to have leaders in the mean time – so when the going will get robust they do not going.
Their new signing Thomas Partey seemed a participant in midfield, however simply as he acquired began he acquired injured. They actually miss him.
And in assault, since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed his contract… has he been away? It is simply that one purpose because the begin of November.
It is a derby with that added incentive, however with out a lot of a crowd it’s going to be a wierd one.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
Sister Bliss’ prediction: I am actually hoping for an Arsenal win however they’re missing confidence in the mean time so that’s not the most certainly consequence right here. There’ll loads of thoughts video games from Jose Mourinho beforehand too. 2-0
Tumblr media
Liverpool v Wolves (19:15 GMT)
Wolves have at all times given Liverpool a very good recreation.
They are a respectable aspect, though this season they have been tinkering with their system and have been sluggish starters at occasions. They had been 1-0 down at house in opposition to Southampton and also you had been questioning what they had been doing earlier than they got here again to attract, after which final week they went to Arsenal and made them look bizarre.
They are going to be a purpose risk in opposition to Liverpool, however the house aspect could have the sting.
I believe the Reds have completed properly to this point this season whenever you keep in mind the accidents and so they’ve additionally not had a constant backline. Privately supervisor Jurgen Klopp can be pleased however he is aware of there is a robust time arising.
It is a good factor the assault has been so good, particularly Wolves outdated boy Diogo Jota who already has 9 objectives.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-1
Sister Bliss’ prediction: Liverpool are smashing it in the mean time. I am a fan of Jurgen Klopp, and you may see why his gamers love enjoying for him. 2-1
MONDAY
Tumblr media
Brighton v Southampton (20:00 GMT)
Southampton have gotten some good unsung gamers there together with James Ward-Prowse who scored these two cracking objectives in opposition to Aston Villa and grabbed one other within the defeat by Manchester United final week. He’ll be a risk once more in opposition to the Seagulls.
The supervisor has completed a superb job and the membership deserve a pat on the again for holding on to him regardless of that 9-0 defeat in opposition to Leicester final 12 months.
Brighton had been good in opposition to the Reds in final week’s 1-1 draw and have began to seem like an honest aspect. I do know they have not overwhelmed the Saints since they got here as much as the Premier League however I fancy them to finish that run.
Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
Sister Bliss’ prediction: This can be a resort versus a port. I am going with Brighton, as a result of from my touring expertise, they have an extended stretch of sea entrance with a correct promenade and pier to get their cardio train in beforehand. It is nice for operating or roller-blading, which might add a little bit of enjoyable to coaching, would not it? 1-0
How did Lawro do final time?
Final weekend, Lawro acquired three appropriate outcomes from 10 matches, together with one actual rating, for a complete of 60 factors.
He beat Maximo Park frontman Paul Smith, who acquired two appropriate outcomes, together with one actual rating, for a complete of 50 factors.

Day 27:  #mayvinylchallenge : Band Formed When Another Ended I thought I was going to have a major problem with this one. Every day, I have flipped through every albums in order to find selections. I literally could not think of any band I had where this happened. And then I thought Purple...and it all made sense. ☆VANITY 6 begets APOLLONIA 6☆ The album I present is: 🔺️ Apollonia 6 - S/T [1984] The role of the love interest in Prince's "Purple Rain" motion picture was initially to be his then-girlfriend, Denise Matthews aka Vanity. Centered around his Minneapolis lifestyle of his band the Revolution and his second-outlet band The Time, the all-women trio of Vanity 6 were to play a part as well. Due to relationship and creative strains however, Vanity left the project prior to shooting. The role eventually went to Patricia Kotero, named Apollonia in the movie. The change caused a change in the band, taking the remaining members (Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsie), adding Kotero, thus emerged the new group of APOLLONIA 6. An album of material was created and released in the same space as Prince and the Revolution's "Purple Rain" and The Time's "Ice Cream Castles". Retaining the street tough and innocent vibes of Bennett and Moonsie respectively, Apollonia's vibe was a smoldering sexuality (like Vanity), but with a girl-next-door vibe. Songs like the single "Sex Shooter", "Happy Birthday Mr. Christian" and "In a Spanish Villa", shows this off. Things get playful with Susan's "Ooh She Wa Wa" and Brenda brings the house down vocally on tracks like "Blue Limousine" and "Some Kinda Lover". My personal favorite jam is "A Million Miles (I Love You)". It all screams 1984 and just has an air of Prince at a creative peak, pumping out jam after jam for various projects, essentially rewriting an entire genre. Had the radest day in Cotia, São Paulo, Brazil yesterday! @grassrootsbrasil invited me to paint a mural at @haribowlgv , a lil fun bowl (perfect size for my limited skill level) in a rootsy villa that had a couple of vegetarian restaurants (something I've had a hard time finding on this trip) like @serafimnaturalmente . I was honoured to be joined in the jam by local painter friends @sapiens_questione and @highraff and had a blast painting the wall while taking skate breaks. Then my old friend Nilton Neves @skateeterno joined in the fun too playing some vinyl. He's a legendary pro skater who now is host of a local travel/skate tv show, stoked for him!! Happy to donate this piece to such a lovely good vibes community. Will share better pics of the finished production soon enough! #haribowl #saopaulo #brazil #skatesesh #spraypaint #mural #sapiens #highraff #niltonneves #rootsrock #community #vegetarianfood #granjaviana (at Granja Vianna)

Ivan lopez Munuera, in the book Night Fever defines the term Discotecture as
“a continuous performance and a collection of assemblages that render visible the construction of bodies technologies, media, and environmental ideas. In the interaction between designers and citizens, DJs and dancers, technologies and regulations, architecture plays a fundamental role”.(Kries et al., 2018, 119)
The idea of an architectural device where space, sound and lighting were unified has been approached in diverse ways, most of them linked directly with the social situation of the moment. Dance spaces from Italian Design, Ibiza Hedonist Villas, German war bunkers, Warehouse in Manchester and Detroit, to Archigram’s Palm Tree Casino and OMA’s proposal for the new space for Ministry of Sound in London are good examples.
Many “Innovative spaces devoted to the ‘performative turn’ in arts and music were spread throughout Italy in the late 1960s”.(ibid) The Piper was the first club that pushed the contemporary visions of music venues. At the final moments the of the Franco regime in Spain, Bocaccio inaugurated in Barcelona in 19679 envisioning a place of sensory exaltation. Boccacio´s owner, Oriol Regás, together with the architect Vincenzo Carmenatti (involved in the design of The Piper) and with a society that was gestating 'el destape'10, built Maddox in Platja D`Aro. A new kind of architectural open space was built, devoted to social dancing. Pol Esteve, a Catalan architect involved in the research on changes in the conception of space in relationship with the technologies of dance culture, describes that:
"Six loudspeakers suspended above the dance floor and twelve complementary columns of loudspeakers distributed around the space, subwoofers, vinyl and magnetic tape, stroboscopic lights, Uv and laser were in charge to make a social dancing group resonate deeply with electronic beats that arrived from New York and London".11 (Kries et al., 2018, 139)
Mescaline, LSD, and amphetamines had a powerful influence on the conception of the experience at Maddox. Amphetamines were legal at that moment in Spain, and grew in popularity. In words of Pol Steve, this was “due to an interest in the cultural and philosophical implications of their consumption”.(Kries et al., 2018, 141)12
These elements resonated and remixed in very diverse ways, within different social scenarios. These spaces, or better said, this kind of immersive social and transformative experience, started to proliferate all over the world, appropriating very diverse settings. This was accompanied by a vast transformation of electronic music styles that are still coining the sound, graphics and fashion13 of club culture in different cities and countries around the world. 14
I want to add some details I found while researching the diversity of Club places and settings.David Mancuso hosted his well known “Loft parties” in New York at the beginning of 1970’s in a space called ”The Loft”, because the place was an old factory building, convenient because in those days these spaces were not heavily regulated. With his audiophile sound system, a policy of no mirrors and no photographs, and objects spread around the space to encourage the found object party game, he wanted to “encourage dancers to overcome self-conscious inhibitions” (Kries et al., 2018, 91). David Mancuso was an experimenter of party settings for ‘sociosonic’15 change. He shared this vision with the explorations cited in the book “Psychedelic Experience”, by the psychologist, Timothy Leary16.
I noticed that the current idea of the frontal raised DJ stage (in electronic music clubs), may respond to a technical necessity and inheritance from the rock music concert stage, where the DJ and the crowd interact on different levels and often in a frontal configuration. I found it interesting that in some clubs, there is an underground DJ booth, as it is in the Hacienda Club in Manchester.17
This kind of decision was made in order to maintain the mixing vibe of the DJ, and to liberate visual hierarchies, collaborating with the flow of the energy.
Personally, I feel more connected with this nonhierarchical stage placement. The idea of wholeness responds better to the interactions of the fluxes involved in dance music. I think that the presence of the DJ should remain invisible or discretely located in the space. That’s why the design of this ‘Spacial Mixer’ is intended to make a disruption of this frontal configuration.

11 This was a preceding stage for the further “Ruta del Bacalao” installed between Valencia and Barcelona in 1980’s. In which “el bacalao” or “el bacalao fresco” where those vinyls arrived from London. The sound of Valencia had internation recognition. This was the preceding moment of “musica Maquina o Makina” of the mid-1990s.

13 I’m saying this because over time some aesthetics are linked straight to a genre of electronic music, like Berlin Techno’s use of “Black” as an example.
14 From Tresor Club, that was opened in 1991 in the bank vault of the Wertheim department store in a segregated Berlin, to Detroit with Underground Resistance playing in abandoned car factories he contemporary techno imaginary emerged. For example, a gay style heritage from Disco with Grace Jones, Keith Haring and Andy Warhol at Studio 54, Electric Circus and The Loft parties in New York shaped the sound and style of house music. Rumanian influences in microhouse at Robert Johnson in Frankfurt and Panorama Bar in Berlin, or acid house, The Hacienda club, and dub influences in drum and bass, and jungle the in UK are other specific examples
