This is now the second fandom that I’ve been in where the fans went in to a long awaited season THRILLED that their ship had finally come in, and left it stunned and heartbroken. And let me tell those of you who did not watch Veronica Mars, that first time was truly awful.

I don’t mind spoilers (actually appreciate knowing them if something bad is coming) so I started seeing the season 2 reactions when I was only 2/3 done with the season. It felt familiar in an awful way - “heartbroken, gutted, can’t believe he did this to us”. I was terrified. So when I was sad at the end of the season but not hysterical like I was post VMars season 4, I was pretty relieved.

But the wonderful thing to watch has been the different reaction as the fandom had time to process it. Post VMars season 4, we were mad and we just got madder. The more we thought about it, the more we realized how badly written it was, and how cruel and out of character Veronica was. We felt betrayed. We spent weeks crying and raging as a fandom and then just walked away from this thing most of us had loved for decades. 4 years later I still can’t watch any Kristen Bell shows without getting upset.

By contrast, as the GO fandom has processed, people are realizing that this was heartbreaking, but it made sense. I will always be mad that their kiss was like that (and hope to hell we find out later that that was not their first kiss), but the relationship and character arcs were supported. It has made us more desperate to see more, not less.

So everyone, watch, watch, and watch some more! Leave it running in the background! We need to give Neil the chance to give us (and them!) the happy ending.

Of course, it probably helped that GO didn’t kill off half the ship.

Okay, incest in VMars (spoilers ahoy):

The short version is, not actually. The long version is, Duncan used to date Veronica, then found out that his dad and her mom had had an affair and that they might be biological half-siblings, and broke up with her, without telling her about the possible relationship, so she spends the first season not knowing why he ended things. He definitely still has feelings for her, and does a bit of angsting about being attracted to his sister. It eventually turns out they aren't actually related. They also aren't the endgame pairing in the show.

That's the big canon incest-adjacent thing. There are also lots of important, complicated familial relationships with interesting dynamics that aren't canonically incest.

So the guy in the video was complaining about a non-existent incest? Interesting. But truly, what a shame they aren't related, it would be so much better if they were.

Also, makes me think of that plot point in Gossip Girl in which Dan and Serena, who are dating, find out their parents dated and even had a child together. (And when Riverdale copied that with Jughead and Betty)

Logan isn't dead

Stick with me on this....

All season they have mentioned the strain his job has on their relationship, how veronica never knows where he is or how long he's gone for. One call and he's gone for weeks at a time.

But what if this time it's different, this time he can't tell her. He goes out to the car to move it and an inconspicuous car pulls up. The security car we see.

In it he gets his orders to leave, then the bomb goes off. He's injured, maybe his arm gets hit so bad so loses the elbow down, leaving bone fragments to make it look like he dies.

But the mission must go on, so the military take him away and he still has to complete his mission.

.....

Veronica mourns, she rages and after some time once her dad is better she leaves neptune. Pony stays with Keith and she gets the hell out of dodge.

Straight into helping the FBI, with Leo.

Two years pass and they fall into a routine, veronica moves in to his flat (separate rooms) she drives them to work, he cooks. They have a platonic marriage of sorts then one day Leo comes home drunk as a skunk saying he fucked up.

The next day veronica is called into an interview room to speak to a military spy who had been under cover with rebels in the Middle East.

He had requested her personally.

Sitting opposite her, his arms (one prosthetic, one just as muscular as the day he died) crossed against his chest, a small smirk on his lips was Logan.

Her Logan.

Who she promptly punchs in the jaw.

Also, the way they promoted LoVe this season? Like, it was everywhere, on every promo, every tweet, every Instagram post. The fact that they knew this was going to happen, but still chose to promote the ship that much, is just fan baiting and it’s gross, especially when the fans literally paid to bring the show back. Talk about biting the hand that fed you...
