Couldn't get back to sleep so I've just been thinking about Voltes 5 honestly. Eva is such a stereotypical bitchy girlfriend that would make you root for Steve to get with Jamie and honestly props to the writers for having her break up with him when she discovers that Steve's been crushing hard on Jamie even when they were still together, but she did it in such a dickish way that you go back into thinking she's a bitch. Like, girl, his mom just died could you have done this more tactfully???

Honestly, I'm probably missing a lot of context here since I'm not familiar with the original material (mecha anime doesn't appeal to me at all, so even with how significant Voltes V is to Filipino pop culture I haven't bothered to really look into it).

But yeah, I don't think the whole preteen-being-sent-out-into-a-warzone-against-alien-invaders thing is gonna sit well with most of the Riders, unless there's some kind of "chosen one" aspect to it (sorta like how in Voltron the Lions chose their own paladins) in which case they could probably grudgingly accept it.

Honestly though... how much budget did GMA give Toei, this looks better than anything Sentai put out in years

Artwork to promote the upcoming release of Voltes V Legacy in Japan from Idea Oshima and Naochika Morishita. Apparently, the Japanese release will be edited to tone down the Filipino soap opera tropes that made up a lot of the runtime and were contentious with the viewership.

NaruSaku is to Klaybarra as Zutara is to MaMie, prove me wrong. First set of pairs is between the male and female protagonists, implied in the story to be the planned endgame as evident with their developments and moments together (albeit some moments were subtle), and having main character B be the first love of main character A. Even so, despite all that, they got shoved aside because most of the viewers deemed the pairing "controversial" and preferred the main character to be with the supporting character who gained popularity . Second set is between the main female character and the 2nd male character, those who were never intended to be endgame, but their chemistry and potential are all over the place in the story. However, despite also gaining a fanbase, rivaling and being even bigger than the expected ship at some points in time, the writers stuck to the originally planned endgame with the main character.

It's funny that these pairs, intended to be endgame or not, all broke my heart and couldn't let me catch a break lmao. Maybe I just have a tendency to root for the one that will not be canon regardless of their original fate and popularity haha

If Voltes V: Legacy was written like a series from before the late 2010s, they'd be dragging on the jealous girlfriend plot for the rest of the series and then have Eva somehow join the Boazanians and kidnap Jamie's first born child somehow
