idk i see a lot of people saying things like "oh allura should've been red or black paladin" and like. i very much see where you're coming from. temperamental-wise, she's much more suited for red than blue, and she is a leader the way that the black paladin is meant to be.

but i also think part of her character is learning to fight and live in this completely new world to her (s8 does not exist) and being the red/black paladin really would not have been. great for that.

black paladin keith and allura's relationship is important, at least to me, because she has to watch another galra take the lead of voltron. she was there the last time this happened. and this does happen after she apologizes (unless i'm forgetting??) but i would assume that it's still there. making allura the black paladin feels a bit like. well a galra did terribly last time, so obviously the altean princess will be a better leader. also, she's just as impulsive as keith honestly??

allura becoming the red paladin makes more sense due to temperament, lance stays blue, and shiro moves to the atlas, but i still think it wouldn't really have worked. the red lion was her father's lion, and there was some level of jealousy towards keith there from what i saw. she has to accept that a galra pilots red, the way that she has to accept that not all galra are evil, and that she cannot keep clinging onto her father's legacy. she's made her own legacy instead, and at this point the name allura is more well-known than alfor. she's allowed to mourn, she's allowed to always grieve altea, but she also does need to move on (in a way, not phrasing this perfectly).

admittedly I don't think about VLD much anymore but every so often I remember how stupid the whole "oh Lotor is draining Alteans of their energies therefore he's evil" set up was given that it was established in the first episode of the show that Haggar could sense Altean energy across the universe. Like if she could sense one single ship being activated and use that plus Zarkon's connection to the Black Lion to track the protagonists down in a matter of days, it's completely reasonable to assume that she could track down an entire colony of hidden Alteans if their quintessence ever got too strong or whatever. There was absolutely a way in-universe to establish that Lotor's actions were horrible but stemming from a reasonable motivation of "don't get fucking caught because the entire colony is gonna get nuked if it's discovered".

The more that I watch Golion the more I'm baffled that, from my knowledge at least, there hasn't been a single continuity/new series that heavily focus on the small little,tinni tinny fact, that Voltron/Golion is suposed to be this God of War divided into 5

Sure, we see the LIONS have some shorta concience from new entries, but never THE MAIN MECHA

For once I'd like to see in a new series/entry focus on the horror aspect of this entity, being divided into 5 pieces of itself, make voltron a villain, make it a warmachine that has never knew anything but war and likes it and wants it so so badly... until 5 pilots slowly but surely won it out of blood-lust

Heck, make it similar to the fact that in Golion the pilots are constantly changing lions bc the lions do not care for who pilots them as long as they are whole. It can be used for so many conflicts when the protagonists have this looming treat that if anyone walks in they can steal the lions easily... until later on the lions refuse to be used bc it got atached to 5 idiots

Make both Galrans and Alteans fear this entity bc they are very religious and know the phantom this being is from, the myth in itself, make Voltron hate and loath Altea bc it was its prison for so long, but slowly fall in love with its people and the whole universe

Make the new generation, Fala/Allura + the paladins, help heal past fears

If you don't wanna touch on a religious/mythical, fine, take from vld and make a team of "old paladins" that actualy were the ones who fought this beast and molded it into 5 warmachines, so it gets personal, instead of unidentified goddesses bean, make Voltron an especies and borrow the concept of Sincline(Vld's Lotor ship build from that dimensional comet) to solidify it, Even better, I haven't seen it yet so I can't elaborate more but maybe even pull Voltron Force into the mix

Make voltron emote when whole, it doesn't need to talk to be understood it can just make faces, it adds to the strangely cute factor

You can make so much with the toy this way too,people will get attached to this thing of they know it explicitly has emotions opinions and is currently going through a friendship is magic arc

Make it refuse to attack, not bc the paladins don't have enough drift compatibility or wtv but bc the mecha itself is suborn and wants an apology, something goofy like that, we don't need to go IN DEEP about the existential horror of piloting a sentient mecha

We can just keep it between the lines if you want

As a Lance girlie I'm very excited to read what was his og involvement in the finale. Is there anything you could tease about it? Like if some scenes with Veronica or his other family members were cut or if his scene with previous paladins (Alfor or Blaytz) was also changed?

Sometimes, when I see humanformer Transformers fanart, especially in a very anime-inspired or bishoujo style, I wonder: is this a Gundam pilot? Could this character fit inside a mobile suit?

Then I just have so many thoughts about scale and how many robots and mecha can fit inside each other turducken style.

Could a couple of small bots pilot a Jaeger? Surely there are mobile suit pilots who would be drift compatible. Can Soundwave (or Bitstream? Or Hashtag?) hack mobile suits and make them dolls? Can a Gundam deploy from a bigger Transformer's alt-mode? Is it weird for giant robots to meet mecha who protect the small organic pilots inside? Do they think they are talking to a bot? Do various Earth forces try to conscript alien robots? Are holoforms involved? When does Voltron get involved? Do your fighter jets suddenly flip-out legs gerwalk style?

So many thoughts.
