In this video, I will recreate the issue/bug in 3DS Max, that will cause a V-Ray Sun to appear in your scene randomly, explain why this is happening, and then explain how to deal with it. Note: At minute 3:00 I wanted to say: "...And this file has a V-Ray Sky..." not V-Ray Sun, and just after it at minute 3:06 I wanted to say: "...there is a V-Ray Sun in the scene..." anyway, it's fixed in the video caption if you turn it On.

Creating Your Own Workspace

As soon as you open SketchUp, a window appears where you can select your workspace. Three tabs are displayed: Learn, License, and Template. There are different presets to choose from on the Template tab. Depending on what kind of model you are going to do.

You will need to click on the template and then on ?Start using SketchUp? in the lower right corner. Please check the Always show on the startup box on the lower left so that you can choose any template each time you open the application.

SketchUp Toolbar

The features of SketchUp are many. The upper part of your screen will have your default SketchUp toolbars. You may now select View > Toolbars.

A toolbar list will appear in a new window. The Large Tool Set will be used in this tutorial. You can create 3D models with the tools available in this toolbar. Take a look at the Large Tool Set. For your convenience, I recommend un-checking the other toolbars.

Click right to add, import, export, rename, pack, remove, and choose the objects with existing materials like attributing present materials to the chosen objects, removing materials (which are not applied in the scene), and attaching layers with reflections, refractions to the materials.

B. Material Preview - The Update Preview button facilitates the users to view the adjusted materials.

C. Options for material control - The options are modified with the added scene materials in section A.

This SketchUp plug-in lets you create parametric buildings for Open-Street-Map or the context of your SketchUp model.

You can start by clicking geo-locating your model in the Sketch-OSM toolbar. After that, you can select & import an area.

The aerial image is imported and you are taken into Existing Building Preview Mode, where all buildings and road lines in OSM or Open Street Map are displayed. Existing buildings can only be viewed for reference and are not saved or modifiable.

1. Click the Sketch-OSM Dialog button to open it.

2. Log in to OSM or Open Street Map. You'll need to register an account or use a third party to do this. After login, you should see the Sketch-OSM dialog box.

3. As you switch from one tool to another, existing buildings will disappear. To return to Preview Mode, click "Import Existing Buildings and Road Lines from OSM."

4. Draw a face like Rotated Rectangle, Line, etc using a SketchUp tool to create a building.

5. You can trace a blueprint of a building's footprint.

6. By clicking "Create Buildings", you will be able to create the face.

7. In the Sketch-OSM Dialog, the attributes of the selected building or part are displayed. Textboxes for adding Building Height can be found here.
