Okay I just HAD to devote the full Alibert inn scene from episode 5 here CUZ WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT YUGO GOING BACK TO EMELKA!! I know I already mentioned Chibi and Grougal (as well as the tree Tofu tower) in part 1 but part 2 will basically be about all the rest of the inn scene cuz tumblr couldn’t let me have more than ten images per post (I know the site apparently lets u have more but I always use the phone for it so shush.)

But first, we finally get to see Alibert again after all those years 💕

Alibert. Sweetie. Baby. You can take care of two (technically four) kids with the addition of a freaking INN, you COOK for the customers, AND, ON TOP OF ALL THAT, you’re the MAYOR of EMELKA, that same place where you run the inn and take care of your adopted sons.

You do much more than just “taking care of an inn”, you got three jobs AND you’re still sane. You’re three in one, a whole package, props to you king. He’s such a boss ass man I love him 💕💕

Love how Yugo doesn’t say that same shit to Ruel after all those years of cooking for his ass and never getting anything from him.

Like even the whole Brotherhood calls Ruel a “cheapskate” but the only time where we see Yugo say that same shit is when he says that to his own CUSTOMERS?!?

Okay now the next part of the Alibert inn scene is very important to me so listen.

Recently, I came scrolling on @moths-are-better’s recent posts about Yugo and I came up on the one where he drinks the “milk” that was in the cup in the scene below.

But like-

@moths-are-better STOP LYING TO YOURSELF THIS IS CLEARLY WINE!!!

Look at all the other people drinking in the inn before they left: they all had that same kind of cup, insinuating that they were drinking wine (and also cuz they confirmed it was wine while trying to avoid any possible future inflations with Alibert).

I just love how Ankama deliberately shows us small scenes like this to remind us that Yugo can do adult things even though he looks like a kid. Because THIS is one of those scenes! Just look at how Alibert quietly pulls the cup of wine away from Yugo as soon as the guy starts ranting about his problems.

But not only did this scene made me realize that nothing can stop Yugo from doing adult things despite how he looks, it also helped me realize that Yugo is the type to only drink when he’s having problems. We clearly see him about to drink more while ranting to Alibert before he carefully pulls the wine away from Yugo cuz he KNOWS Yugo would drink more just for that.

That level of attention to detail is amazing and I’m so glad I managed to catch up to the hints early on.

Alibert be looking like Yugo’s bartender AND therapist in just that moment alone lol

Ngl I would’ve loved to see a drunk Yugo if he had been able to drink more before Alibert intervened.

His caring and calming attitude towards Yugo and the way he just treats him, cares for him, and acts like a responsible parent during all these years really makes me wanna do the same thing someday. Alibert is so good at his job(s) that he’s even beating a freaking goddess. Let that sink in. (actually any good parent like Alibert would beat the Eliatrope goddess’ parenting easily lol)

Alibert is genuinely so sweet, patient, thoughtful, and understanding of Yugo. Like even though he just heard Yugo say he finally found his true family, Alibert doesn’t take his words as insults and would rather just let him spill out all of his words to him.

When I said I missed these two like this, I really meant it. This inn is not only where Yugo was raised in but it’s also Yugo’s comfort place.

My ass knows this is foreshadowing.

It just knows.

• Yugo with his wings. Now that ss4 ep11 has brought us Yugo being so freely out with his wings I think we as a fandom can write so much shenanigans with them. Someone in the brotherhood giving him head massage and trying to navigate with the wings being sensitive/fluttering, nightlight, them betraying Yugo's emotions even more visibly than his hat ears, Yugo stimming and the wings flapping wildly or just people asking can they touch them and describe what the wings feel like as well as how Yugo feels about this interaction after years of hiding them aarryGGjiinuguercb

• Aftermath of Torture. Yeah okay you can not be telling me ss4 ep9 wasn't torture? Anyways Yugo be riding that war adrenaline but I'd like to think this affected him moreso than he'd thought and after things settled he has to have some long comfirting talks and hugs (and snuggles) to resolve his feelings. Hurt/Comfort

• Body dysmorphia! The transition of his small form to his much bigger one is violent as hell but I'd also like some fics exploring on him feeling trapped/uncomfort in his younger body and finally feeling okay after he grows up :D

• Wedding fics :D (That has "No Yugo you can not wear this to your own wedding I don't care if you made it out of your own wakfu")

• Protective Yugo with Amalia now that they are King and Queen with a whole lot of aldult duties

These don't need to be super groundbreaking or plotty or even 100% accurate to the series or anything long at all I just need more Wakfu fanfics please

The only time I didn't like Yugo 👆

I REALLY wanted them to have a talk about this in season 4. I guess Ankama couldn't fit it in or didn't think it was important.

This occurs after he kisses her and calls it a mistake which hurts her feelings. As she is upset, Yugo tries to talk about it but she gives him a hard time (she does act like a butt). They don’t talk about it but instead sit together in silence. After a while, they kind of have a nonverbal “we’re good” moment.

How do we know this? We see that she is playful with him and still values what he thinks in this moment.

You're not playful with someone you're mad at. I think she thought about it and understood his dilemma and set it aside for the time being. She loves him and she can’t stay mad at him not now at least. After this playful interaction—HE STILL SAID THAT to Ruel-sipho)!! It’s fair that he’s still a little mad but damn.

Many audiences agreed with Yugo that Amalia was being obnoxious but to me that little playful scene defused their little quarrel. They were good at least from her perspective. From his reaction to her little playfulness it seemed like he agreed…but I guess not.

For the audience agreeing with Yugo…I blame misogyny tbh. It’s easy to hate female characters for the tiniest things. We see it time and time again.

I too agree that she was being bratty when he wanted to talk about it. But…i think she needed a little more time to collect herself. When they got that time to just sit in it we get that playful interaction.

Amalia literally left the side of her sick dying father to help him. He didn’t see her pain?

Then when she comes back (in s4) her father is dead. Missing her opportunity to say goodbye. At least they showed he felt guilty about that.

So then after all of this, when did he realize it was “romantic love.” Or did he always know but try to lie to himself to not give himself hope? I need answers because what they gave is not enough.

But yeah, that was the only time I didn’t like Yugo.

If Wakfu had the proper funding, I wonder if they would have spent a little more time on the interpersonal dynamics. We see time and time that they have a good nonverbal communication dynamic.

This is my interpretation. My perspective of that situation. If your interpretation is different that’s fine. I would love to ask one of the writers about this. Imma try to find one.

I keep comparing it to shows like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Avatar, and The Owl House who make time to show their characters have these tough talks. But those shows had the funding to do it. Wakfu did not. They had to use what they had to focus on the most important plot points and sum up the others.

Either way, the animated series is over. And they're married now…so that’s a win. I still wish we got more tough-talk scenes though. (But it's an action show with a male target audience so of course)

Presenting my oc Sharm !

An (very pink) Eliotrope

She's based on my in game character but I kinda gave her lore and a story so

⭐INFODUMP about Wakfu in general ! ⭐

Basic infos for those who don't know anything about Wakfu :

Wakfu is a french animated serie made by the studio Ankama, who also made several mmorpg games ( and way more, like the amount of content and lore is crazy)

Most of the stories will take place on the World of Twelves, populated by 12 main races (with many variation)

And there is a 13th "main race", the Eliatropes, which is the race of the main character of the anime, Yugo

Eliotropes ( with a o instead of a) are a subrace of the Eliatropes ( lore is explained in the serie but I don't wanna spoil, so to boil it down, Eliotropes are unstable pale copies of eliatropes) [ they are playable in the game wakfu]

So, what about Sharm ? Well she was born a pretty regular Eliotrope. She had two "brothers", Chance and Vitali, who unfortunately ended up fading away with time ( mechanically, when an Eliotrope die, his/her essence will go to the nearest Eliotrope to allow them to live longer)

So Sharm was left alone for very long, and stayed in Eliatropes ruins she found. Those were overgrown by stasis ( type of crystals, very bad, generally associated with corruption and destruction)

However, the essence she got from her siblings passing could only last so long

One day, in a desperate attempt to not die, Sharm took stasis and...ate it. Chewed on the mf crystals, and surprisingly, an interesting reaction occured : it stabilised her essence. It also made her basically frozen in development, Sharm cannot grow anymore and her power levels are quite limited in quantity, unless she uses stasis.

So my girl went through the ages, she kept on researching on the remnant of the eliatrope race ( wiped out aside from a few) and became sort of an archeologist

Nowadays, Sharm travels from a country/city to an other, often with mercenaries she hires as bodyguards . The other two ocs in this sketch page are the said mercenaries

And the cat is called Noiraude !

Sharm needs protection because she is stupidly useless in combat

So, this character is Nora (second drawing is a headcanon version of her)

Who is Nora ? She is the sixth eliatrope of the Council ( Eliatropes are rules by the six first borns of the race who can reincarnate along with their dragon twin)

Nora appeared for the first time in a flashback the episode "Quilbi" in season 2

In 2011

And back then she was in a flashback, so presumed dead from the war that wiped out the Eliatropes

BUT

Lately, as clips and trailers of season 4 of Wakfu has been released

It's confirmed that Nora is there

She's alive

She's in season 4

Liveblog - Dofus, livre 1 : Julith [PART 11]

As I've mentioned, Kerubim and Julith have Beef.

As far as she is concerned, whether he was behind her framing (he wasn't) he is one of the people to blame. He defeated her that fateful day, and then she never saw her son again.

I've already went into detail, on the way "killing" her has affected him, (A mixture of horror and duty. Killing a mother and making a child an orphan for the sake of a city. Being grateful for her dying because it made him a father instead. Feeling awful for that thought.) but it is interesting, how he reacted to her turning out to be alive, when he killed her with his own hands.

Seething. Perhaps even coping.

This is chichala, which we had seen. I suppose he uses it to buff himself up before the boss fight. Drinking alcohol before a fight is very much RPG logic.

Sadly, there are no interesting buffs to it in-game:

I think a lot about the way Kerubim, Joris, and Atcham would be characterized in video game logic, by the way. I still have no working theory of how the hell their fighting styles would synergize. Would Joris be their buffer/debuffer? Their glass canon? Both? And do any of them take ranged weapons on missions...?

They probably do. It'd be kinda dumb not to. Personally, I like to imagine that Atcham would be the one using those, most of the time. He has that "skyrim stealth archer" vibe to him. (Though they're all melee users, through and through.)

Despite how smug he is at a couple of moments, he really was struggling during this fight.

My honest reaction whenever Kerubim does this fucking face is just:

This is very much a "deeply mentally ill adoptive father (who inadvertently ruined his child's life by adopting them to atone for his sins + because he was abused as a child) fighting through an army for his child before dying in their arms and saying they're the only good thing he ever had" look for him.

Another reason that one has to support both women's rights and wrongs when talking about Julith, is that, like.,.. what was she playing at, here? There are two possibilities:

That she would destroy whoever has the dragon's soul and set it free, giving her an advantage.

That Kerubim would shield that person.

Either one is good. :)

Either way she was perfectly willing to risk/attempt blowing up a random, innocent person, who was hiding from her.

My personal headcanon is that while Julith is physically stronger than Kerubim, she lost ten years prior because she couldn't stop thinking about The Baby. Where were they taking Joris? Did Bakara leave with him? Is Joris alright? Didn't Jahash give him to this cat man, who was now trying to kill her? What the fuck is going on, who did this, why, why, why?

I imagine seeing him lose for the exact same reason brings her great pleasure.

Guys I think this might be bad for Joris's long term mental stability.

On a more serious note, I think there should be more content about Joris fucking hating Julith. During the movie? There's too much going on to work out what he feels.

But after? He has all the time in the world to hate her for everything she did.

I do think that he probably grew up and found whoever framed her to take revenge on/to get justice. But hating her, and wanting to clear her name of the crimes she DIDN'T commit so she could have some peace in death, so that people would stop smearing her name, — are two things that can coexist.

AND she recognizes him by the blue eyes. AND, this implies that, for the entirety of the Dofus show, — and the entirety of Wakfu as well, since he, once again, has yellow eyes there, — he had dragon eyes.

Imagine being Simone, waking up at 3am, realizing because you forgot something in Joris and Kerubim's bedroom, sneaking in, and seeing this.

It also raises some questions about adult Joris, because we know he no longer has Grougalorasalar in him. The easiest explanation is that he spent so much time with the dragon, that after their final separation, his eyes couldn't change anymore.

After all, — the changes the dragon made to his height/skin/hair are permanent. It would make sense that, with time, even his eyes would be permanently altered.

I don't think it's a sad thing, by the way. Imagine going your whole life with beautiful brown eyes that look a bit like your adoptive father's. Then imagine suddenly having blue eyes (scary) and that they're your Dead Father's Who You Never Met but whom everyone misses. Like which pair of eyes would you choose? Because I think there IS a right answer to this riddle.

I think Julith has convinced herself that whoever took her and Jahash out wouldn't want loose ends, and that Joris was taken out as well, or something. Maybe that's why he wasn't really on her mind.

Mind you, this is a tinfoil hat headcanon.

This is so beautiful, to me... She was so emotionally stricken by seeing him again as his mother, that his father, who was both fatally wounded and stricken by seeing her perform deeply painful dark rituals on his son after traumatizing him, could land one last hit on her to save said son.

Julith has been a mother for a grand total of a few days to a month, while Kerubim has been for 10 years. Of course, her first concern is getting surprised it's him, and not that she hurt him. Because she couldn't even dream that she'd ever see him again.

There's a tragedy in that. She never even had a chance to learn how to be his mother, or who he is as a person, — she was the mother of an infant. Her love for him is far more theoretical than Kerubim's.

It's a love for Joris not as a person, but as a lost opportunity.

So she has no regrets about hurting him, — and she will hurt him as many times as it takes, if that's what it takes to get back her family.

We obviously start with the ✨sadidas✨ Armand and Amalia (as we should 💕) coming back from the assembly meeting with the Eliatrope goddess.

Okay so were starting off pretty strong lol

I LOVE how Armand thinks about the Eliatrope goddess cuz yeah we were pretty much thinking the same thing (about how she’ll pretty much stalk them and will put her children in their world) and I just absolutely LOVE how he’s keeping his guard because of her and has become even more doubtful of Yugo. (Just look at his eyes as he stares at Amalia!!)

Because yeah, even though he wasn’t as wary of Yugo before, some hints were still shown in the OVAs when he called him “a king without his people is unheard of” but Yugo shrugged his comment off.

BUT NOW WE GET TO SEE MORE OF ARMAND SLANDERING YUGO and basically exposing Amalia acting “not rational” when she talks about Yugo.

Armand, my man, your sister’s clearly in love with Yugo OF COURSE SHE WOULDN’T BE RATIONAL WITH HIM (you should’ve seen how she kissed Oropo tho you would’ve lost your shit lo)

BUT DAMN ARMAND CHILL WTF ARE U RACIST AGAINST ELIATROPES NOW???!!? Same ngl 🥰🥰 I want more drama 💖💖

But all cuteness aside, in all my years of being a Wakfu fan, I literally never saw Yugo make that face before. Like it was so uncalled for that my heart literally dropped when I saw him like that. I never thought that the face of terror and shock (combined with the booming sound in the background) could go so well on him and now I wanna see it more!! I HOPE YOU TORTURE HIM ANKAMA!!

I've just come across the realization that 2 shows I absolutely adore have made an attempt at a very similar type of villain, and while one worked, even though she wasn't appreciated by everyone, the second one is recognized by the entire fandom to have been messily written.

So now I'm going to try, through comparison, to see why Dante from FMA 2003 feels much better written than Oropo from Wakfu.

First and foremost, some basic presentation.

[Warning: spoiler for both shows, I'm doing an analysis so I need to work with what the shows gave]

Dante is a normal woman, an alchemist who unlike most managed to create the Philosopher Stone, and to transmute a human soul within another human body, effectively making her immortal through soul transfer. She takes in the results of failed human transmutation, homonculi, and raises them into faithful followers, promising them to make them human. She uses them to keep tabs on alchemist with the potential to create the Stone, and to create situations where people would get tempted to seek or create it (usually through conflicts, wars and massacres). Her goal is to obtain the Stone for herself without dirtying her own hands, and to stay young and beautiful through body-hopping. She also wants to get back at Hohenheim for leaving her.

Oropo is the result of Yugo's use of the Six Eliatrope Dofus. Sent at the beginning of time with all of his kin, and learning all the while, he has much more knowledge than the average human, and is similar to immortal due to the way life energy gets transfered from one eliotrope to another when one dies. He takes in demigods like him and convinces them to follow him by promising them they'll replace the gods and be able to do better than them. He uses them to accomplish his goals, obtain the artifacts necessary to his goals and make sure that the events that caused his own birth do happen. His goal is to replace the gods and obtain Yugo's energy to avoid death, he also wants to get back at Yugo for creating him then leaving him in the dirt.

In a way I bet you can see the similarities that caused my reflexion, and you also might already see one reason why Oropo's writing is already a bit difficult: time travel created a paradox in which he existed before his own birth, making his creator unaware of his existence, and so incapable of helping him in any way. Convoluted situation aside, and it's worth noting it isn't helping, it already makes one of his goals illogical. I don't mean to equate illogical with emotional, mind you, Dante wanting to get back at Hohenheim is just as emotional, but the reason why Yugo wasn't there for Oropo was because he couldn't be there, for a long time he didn't even exist! How was he supposed to help? And Oropo knows this, but chooses to ignore this information. On the other hand, Hohenheim leaving was his decision, he was aware of Dante and decided to leave her, so while it is an emotional matter it is also understandable why Dante would be angry at him. Add this to the fact that Yugo is the protagonist, a character most people like even when he makes mistakes, whereas Hohenheim is usually considered an asshole, or at least a guy who made very questionable decisions, and you get very different reactions from the audience.

I'm only getting started though, because another problem has to do with the characters they're surrounded with.

Dante has the homonculi : humans but not quite, emotionally torn by their nature, that Dante raises from birth into obedient servants, holding them on a leash with a promise of humanity. They're here from episode one, usually cold and uncaring, you still get to see their more emotional side, through Lust and Wrath mainly, but also with Greed, Sloth and Envy. Those are characters who seem simple on the outside, but who actually have depth. Dante however sees them as tools, never anything more. It starts with the way she names them and it ends with her taking away Gluttony's mind, which is also the cause of her own downfall. She believes herself superior to others, and the homonculi inferior to all. She remains consistent on that matter. The only character she actually has respect for is Hohenheim, she has a bit of respect for the Elric brothers, a little bit for Izumi, and that's as far as it goes. Pretty women are vessels, others are either Stone-producer material or just Stone material.

Oropo, on his end, has the Brotherhood. They are demigods who grew-up in bad environments, who he took in and promised them he would help them change the world. He calls them siblings, and makes them call each other siblings, while Oropo's tower seems to establish a form of hierarchy, in practice they have a status almost equal to his. They only start appearing in the OVAs (the manga if you have them), and most of their screentime is focused on action scenes, Echo being the biggest exception, Adamai being a special case, and Coqueline and Ush arguably. They're all implied to have depth, there's a buch of lore about them, but the show never quite gets there. Oropo sees them as replacement for the Brotherhood of the Tofu, as such he seems to spend time with them, gets to know them, they aren’t just tools to him, but in the end he keeps projecting other people onto them (we regrettably don't get to really see it, the closest ones are again Adamai, because Adamai, and Echo who "replaces" Amalia). He's a bit inconsistent with the way he treats them, usually talks of them as brothers, and yet still infantilizing them, punishing them for thinking for themselves even though he encourages them and their goals. Oropo doesn't seem to consider himself superior, it actually feels more like he has an inferiority complex centered on Yugo. He litteraly wants what Yugo has, and if he can't take it from him, he'll just find the next best thing.

There's a lot of compelxity there, and it's for a character we see for only 13 episodes, the result of that is bound to feel clumsy.

In comparison Dante feels simpler, that's because her complexities are related to the main theme of the show, equivalent exchange and the value of a human soul, of humanity as a concept, and the rest is kept relatively simple. Her incoherences are typically adressed by the text itself and she remains a bad person the whole way, just one who raises important questions.

Oropo is a bit all over the place, the main theme of Wakfu are family and the moral implications of one's actions (for oneself or for others, the one that can and the ones that have to be made), which are very broad themes and rarely adressed in an open way, so the characters, the antagonists especially, cannot really be all that simple. Oropo's incoherences remain unadressed, and because we didn't get that much of him interacting with his circle we cannot feel that divide.

In the end Dante feels more alone than Oropo does, that's one dies alone by the end of her tools while the other gives up on his plan and dies with his loved one.

I like Oropo, but I think it's because I spent a lot of time thinking about him, because it's really hard to like him with just what the show gives us. Dante is a villain I love because she's unlikable and I'm not expected to feel for her, but I can see in her something that talks to the worst side of my own humanity. In Oropo, at first I only saw a parody of a politician, or at worst a sect guru, it's only with much thinking I started seeing a lost child running on lost time, who had to create a family after being abandoned by his father when others usually have theirs no matter what, and who got jealous of that. That's why the creators tried to make him empathetic even though he was a pretty terrible guy.

I hope I got most of what I wanted to express right, there's a lot of other stuff actually, but I feel like I tackeld the main point. Also I like to compare my fandoms, that's just what I do.

Good points: Character designs, especially female character designs Bad Points: Seems like a boring 'villains act, heroes react' plot. With a fairly generic protagonist. So far I have some moral issues with the plot Going the annoying route of generic medieval fantasy world vs techno-villain I’ll give it it’s three episodes to prove itself but I’m not hugely impressed by the first unfortunately. I prefer when I can be unambiguously positive about these things.
