imagining Charlie having an Oh moment when she finds Vaggie napping in a chair one day, early on, with Razzle and Dazzle sprawled out over Vaggie like they're trying to cover as much of her small body as they can with their own even smaller ones-

Charlie pulls out her phone and stealthily inches closer for a picture (she's doesn't' wanna wake them she swears) (she's just never seen something so cuuuuute-)

but a floor board squeaks and Razzle cracks an eye open to glower while Dazzle shushes her

and Charlie stops

There's another Oh... moment, because they've never shushed her before. They were brought to life to keep her safe and they've always only cared about that one thing- it took months for them to stop following Vaggie around the house suspiciously, like they always did with anyone Charlie tried having a relationship with, like a pair of silent, plush guard dogs-

(glaring at Vaggie from shadows, from across the table at breakfast and dinner, from the pillows directly over her head when Charlie finally convinced her maybe sharing a bed would help with the night terrors)

-but that'd all changed, at some point. Only, Charlie hadn't noticed until now

now she does. Now suddenly, she wonders

Charlie creeping over on silent, careful hooves, to gently stroke between the tiny wings of her childhood friends, looking from them to Vaggie's relaxed and sleeping face (getting a little lost watching her, for moment) (reaching out to tuck back a strand of the hair Vaggie is growing out long, accidently stroking Vaggie's cheek, forgetting to take her hand away afterwards) (the longer hair is hard not to play with, she excuses)

Charlie leaning in and asking Razzle and Dazzle, in the softest whisper-

"....are you keeping her safe for me?"

a pair of soft little churrs rising up in answer. Two little plush demons, snuggling closer to Vaggie as Vaggie frowns in her sleep, shifting restlessly, stirring-

Charlie freezing bc she has NO idea what to say if Vaggie wakes up and finds her- well. looming kinda?? while Vaggie SLEEPS???

it feels different than just already being there when Vaggie wakes up in the night, different in how waking up like that was normal when they'd gone to bed together, but crouching down to STARE at someone like this, with your hand still on her cheek, scared to move it in case that REALLY wakes her up when she DIDN'T get much sleep last night and DIDN'T wake you up that time for some reason so you couldn't snuggle her or make her feel better and now you might startle her instead or make her feel awkward which you hate- you don't want her to ever feel awkward around you-

it doesn't matter though

because Vaggie settles down again, as Dazzle croons quietly and Razzle reaches out a little paw to gently press her arm

she used to jump and flinch a little every time she saw them

when did that change?

these days she flicks little snacks at them from off her plate, no matter how many times Charlie reminds her they have their OWN plates and their OWN donuts and are just begging to get ATTENTION, the little show-stealers-

(not like Charlie's doing that too by complaining) (noooooo) (not like she grins like an idiot when Vaggie smiles and says cute things deserve a little extra attention, while looking over at Charlie instead)

these days any annoying demon who comes looking to curry favor with Lucifer (or trying pulling one over Morningstar's "naïve" daughter) gets pinned by THREE dangerous glares while waiting at the door for Charlie to hurry downstairs and meet them

(or rather shoo them away before they say something too not nice and Vaggie grabs her spear while Razzle and Dazzle get within ankle biting range)

when she thinks about it, things have been different for a while now

better. They've been better, and Charlie still doesn't know when or how it happened, and maybe that part doesn't matter so much anyway

in the present, Charlie takes the chance to retrieve her hand (reluctantly..) so she can slip off her jacket and tuck it around the three of them- Razzle, Dazzle. Vaggie- her two old friends and one new but very important one-

important enough to be considered part of her, by them as were created to protect her

and that's a new idea too. but she likes it a lot, she thinks

she likes being part of a family again

Vaggie wakes up a good solid two hours of nap time later with Razzle and Dazzle draped over her like furry boas and Charlie's head in her lap, a former Exorcist absolutely COVERED in cuddly demons-

she stays completely still for another hour more afterwards, stiff neck be damned, watching the three of them sleep. Smiling.

(when vaggie flutters up and finds razzle curled up on dazzle's memorial, the night after the battle. when she tucks him into her shoulder and heads back to her and charlie's rebuilt room. as a relieved and teary eyed charlie scoops him up and the three up them huddle together under vaggie's reformed wings)

(it's only three of them... but part of why charlie cries that night is knowing dazzle did his job- vaggie is still here)

(dazzle did his best. and for everything charlie lost, the old hotel, too many of the cannibals who followed her, almost all the egg bois, sir pentious, dazzle himself, the faith that she could solve all this without anyone getting hurt...)

“You’re seriously gonna wear that?” Trevor said.

Glancing down at your stomach and then back at your boyfriend, you were confused about what Trevor meant. “What do you mean?” Shrugging your shoulders.

“That,” Trevor pointed at you, and you were still baffled at what he was pointing at. “Your hoodie.”

Your eyes trailing back down to your comfort hoodie. You’ve had it ever since the start of your senior year of high school into now being a twenty-one-year-old college student. It had some tiny holes, but you didn't care; you loved the material, the color, and how it made you feel comfortable.

“Well, yeah.” You shrugged.

Trevor sat up from lying on his bed and walked towards you, a look of disgust on his face. But you couldn’t tell what that look on his face was. He was always good at hiding it.

“Babe, you know I love that hoodie,” Trevor started blatantly lying to your face. “But I want you to make a good impression on my friends, so do you think you could wear something different?”

That indescribable feeling in your stomach rose to your throat, feeling as if someone were choking you. The stale taste of bile stayed in your throat as your stomach felt like it was doing summersaults. You disregarded it to be nerves about meeting Trevor’s friends.

In the back of your brain, you knew that meeting them would’ve been a piece of cake if the front of your brain made you constantly nervous. Trevor knew they liked you, but he made you think they didn't. To make you feel small.

“But I have nothing else to wear that makes me comfortable.”

Trevor holds both his pointer fingers to signal you to wait with a smirk on his face, walking towards his closet quickly. Pulling out a trendy denim jacket he owned, you liked it, but it wasn't your style — or size.

“This,” Trevor smiled.

“But, it doesn't fit. I can barely get one button to close, and it's going to be cold tonight,” You complained.

Trevor groaned where chills ran down your spine; it made you not want to say another word. “C’mon baby, we don't want to be late, just put on the fucking jacket so we can hurry up.”

The attitude sent your way wasn't new, but you always felt like it was your fault, and this felt like your fault. He was trying to make you feel good; who’s to say he’s wrong?

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay; I didn't mean to get loud.”

That same meaningless apology you’ve heard before that always managed to calm you down. You zip down your hoodie, throwing it on Trevor’s bed, landing on the end of the bed frame, the hood between the mattress and the wooden frame. Taking the jacket and slipping your arms into it made you feel uncomfortable with how tight the denim felt against your back. You felt your shirt picked up — exposing your skin and making goosebumps occupy that area.

Looking at the mirror, you hated what you saw, but the smile on Trevor’s made you feel slightly better.

“I hate this,” You frowned.

“You look great,” Trever emphasized, draping his arm around your neck enthusiastically, which made you feel better. Right?

“Well, you finally look like you actually like my friends.”

“But, I’ve always liked your—”

“Okay, let's get going, baby.” Trevor kissed your cheek and left you alone in his room. The mirror catches your vulnerability in ways you couldn't see, and it makes you feel uneasy; it was bothering you that you couldn't figure out that word.

Disgust.

Disgust was the word that Trevor made you feel.

Judging you, making you feel like you're losing your mind, making you feel like you weren't enough. Disgust.

You were quickly slapping your face to erase any trace of Trevor. You stood outside the coffee shop where you agreed to meet up with the guy you matched up with on Bumble, Joel Miller.

It had been six months before you had gone back on dating apps, grieving the loss of your relationship in the past. Joel was one of the first few people you matched with. He was older, but he could hold down a conversation, making you feel like you could talk to him for hours. He was okay with meeting up with you, but he wanted to ensure you were comfortable with the timing; he was okay with waiting.

It had been five months until you agreed to see him; nervous to the brim, you didn't know what to wear; spending countless minutes in your underwear, you quickly put together an outfit and grabbed a hoodie.

When you first walked in and Joel noticed you, his smile beamed at you, making butterflies appear in your stomach. He had wired headphones in his ear as he stood up quickly, shoving them in his jacket. Wrapping his arms around you in a hug, he made you feel protected in his arms; he smelt of old spice and mint, and in your mind, it was adorable that you chuckled in your head.

As Joel backed up from the hug, he smiled at you again. “Hi.”

“Hi,” You smiled back. “Did I keep you waiting?”

“Uh, no. Not really, just listenin’ to the playlist you made me.”

“Oh god,” you buried your head in your hand. “You still listen to that?”

“Of course, it's the thing that helps me get out of bed.”

You chuckle and can't help but smile from ear to ear as Joel smiles at you lovingly. “Well, if you ever get bored with that one, I would gladly make you another one.”

Joel chuckles through his smile; he quickly rubs the back of his neck, looking back towards his seat. “Uh, do you wanna sit down?”

“I would love that.”

Joel directs you to your seat; you cannot help but feel heat rise to your face; as you sit in your chair, Joel sits in front of you. As you wiped your hands on your hoodie, you looked up at Joel; you noticed him resting his head on his fist, looking at you. That feeling of Joel critiquing little things about you rose back to when Trevor would do it.

“Trevor isn’t here; you're fine,” You thought.

“Is there something on my face?” Your quick to cover your mouth with your hand.

Joel shakes his head and smiles at you. “Just admirin’ you, you're s’ perfect.”

The heat in your face was reaching a dangerous level, where you could feel your face explode. “Stop, you're pulling my tail.”

“I’m serious, your amazin’.”

You can't help but look down at the table in despair as you rarely received compliments from Trevor; it's hard to believe what Joel was saying to be the truth. “M’sorry, did I make you uncomfortable?”

“No!” You shake your head. Taking a deep breath, you place your hands on the table. “It's just I’ve never received compliments, and it's only when my ex would make me forget how much of an ass he is.”

That padding of Joel’s palm rested against your knuckles; you look at your hands together, and you look at Joel’s welcoming smile. “I promise, whenever I compliment you, it's comin’ from the depths of my soul, sweetheart.”

The warmth of Joel’s hand made you feel comfortable, a feeling you craved with— nobody. You felt good in this moment. “Now, how about I get you a cup of coffee? I promise it's the best.”

You chuckle. “Come on, I had to meet you here; let me buy it.”

As Joel gets up, he slides his hands down in an ‘X’ motion. “Nope, as the gentleman my momma raised me, it’ll be my pleasure.”

“Okay, but the next time we go out on a date, I’m buying.”

“I’ll hold you to it, sweetheart.” Joel walks away, and you can't help but smile at him as he walks away.

Shouko Komi

Shouko is a really sweet girl, her anxiety and shyness doesn't stop her from falling in love, although it take her a while to even notice her own feelings, let alone do something about it (however she try to do little things from time to time, like trying to invite you over to whatever she will do with her other friends or being a little more clingy) until you two finally start dating

Shouko is completely excited for being in a relationship with you, although actually dating you completely flustered her at the start of the relasionship, so for a while she will be a little more blushy and shy around you, and even so Shouko grows more clingy with you, not wanting to leave your side because she like being with you

It will take her a while to win more bravery but at some point she will be more comfortable and used to the idea of being in a relationship and from then she will slowly grows more affectionate, starting to take your hand when you two walk together, a shy hug here and there, little kisses on the cheek to greet you and say goodbye, little by little until she is fully used to it and doesn't become a blushing mess by the only thought of doing it

Shouko has never been in a relationship so she is pretty anxious about what she should do or even expect, so she may be reaching for advice between romance stories and her friends and family, wich end up being in a disaster since most of her friends tease her at first (even her mother) so when they actually give her an advice she is only half hearing for how flustered she is, and the romance novels just give her examples that she doesn't know if she could actually do

If you are the shy type it would be an even slower process for you to moving your relationship forward, so you two will recive external help, your impatient friends will push you two to move forward. In the other hand if you are the one taking the lead and gently push her to go further she will be really flustered but at the same time grateful for not having to be the one with the iniciative

However, there are moments where she herself want to be the one with the iniciative, so she work hard on doing something for you, it could be something simple as a little gift or caring for you when you need it, or even goint furder to plan and invite you to an special date

Speaking of it, whenever will have a date Shouko pass a full day between the anxiety and the excitement, all worried about choosing her clothes for the date, checking the weather report for the next day again and again to make sure it won't rain or something, making sure she has everything she needs, and so on

She herself will make more effords, working really hard in handling her anxiety to be able to overcome it and talk to you directly, with her own voice, as well to be more brave and do things she normally don't do, you don't even have to ask for it because she is doing it out of love and because she want you to be proud of her

However it would be better if you don't push her to face her anxiety or even force her, Shouko end up trusting you a lot, as well relying on you so if you start to be pushy with the topic she will start to get really anxious about it because she doesn't want to bother you with it, so she will be thinking that it actually bother you or that you will prefer if she wasn't so shy and nervous all the time

Shouko always want to know your opinion, you are really important for her so your opinion is just as important, so she is asking for your advice or opinion for different things (directly or indirectly), for example when she want to try something new, when she manage to overcome her anxiety to do something or even when she want to do something for you, she is always asking you (is also because she is completely happy to finally have someone with who share this kind of things since before knowing you and all her friends she used to be all alone)

Marin Kitagawa

Marin is pretty obvious with her love for you and still she was pretty oblivious of it for a long time, it take her a while to realice her feelings for you and once she finally does she will get a little shy about it, still that doesn't stop her from being clingy with you

Once you two are finally dating Marin is overjoyed! Is imposible for her to stop smiling and for a while she will be noticibly more happy

As well, Marin is a complety lovestruck so tend to talk about you a lot, she talks about her amazing and super handsome/beautiful partner to whoever is willing to hear, normally is with her friends in school or to her co-workers, and as much as she looks cute talking about her lover it could be kinda annoying after a while, what she actually doesn't care much as long as they don't insult you

Marin is already clingy, but now that you two are dating she will be always touching you, either by holding your hands, clinging onto you whole arm or even hugging you, is just like for her is imposible to have her hands still and always giggle when you point it out, although if you are uncomfortable by it she will try to calm down and just hold your hand, even you two can just hold your pinkies and she find it extremely adorable

Also, Marin is the type to be always texting you for everything, she send you photos of her food, of what she is doing even of her work place when she is in her break, as well as pics that she find adorable, videos, or just chating! She always finds an excuse to talk to you, and if you don't answer or just read her message she will be pouty and will argument with you about why you did it, however she understand if you were busy and forgive you almost imediatly

Marin is constantly daydreaming about you, thinking in all the things she will like to do with you, like going in dates, doing cosplay together, watching anime together, cuddling, having a future together, and so on, and she always ends giggling and blushing a lot for it

Speaking of dates she loves having dates with you, you two always have at least one for week, is obligatory for her, and is all kind of dates going to a cute coffee, to the amusment park, to anime and cosplays events, or even just staying in home to see some anime, whatever you want to do is alright for her as long as you two are together

Marin talks a lot about the animes and videogames she loves, and she will introduce you to them too, she will try with all her favorites but if you don't like them (or even make you uncomfortable) she will let you be, it make her sad but not for that she will force you to like them, as long as you don't insult it is fine. As well, she is completely willing to hear you rant over and over about what you love and will love to see it with you, if she doesn't like it she will be more hesitant to tell you but she will at the end

Marin loves cosplay so is almost obligatory for her that you do cosplay with her too, she will insist over and over again until she manage to convice you to do it at least one, even if you don't want to go to a cosplay event disguised she will be fine as long as you let her take photos of you with your cosplay. Since she will continue with the cosplay even if you don't want to do it yourself she will kinda force you to go with her at least to make her company, however if you feel uncomfortable in those kind of events or don't feel like going out that day she will understand and will go only with Gojo, a little sad but quickly motivated with the idea of taking a lot of photos of the event so she can show them to you and she text you in every chance she has!

However if you are into cosplaying too she is overjoyed, always wanting to cosplay with you and talking about what characters you two should cosplay, for her it doesn't matter if you two cosplay for characters of differents series she just loves doing it with you, although when you actually do cosplay as a couple (when you cosplay about a ship or canon couple, or even just from the same series) she is even more excited, completely blushing and unable to stop smiling and giggling, it take a lot from her to stay calm so you two can pose for photos

Yor Briar

Her whole life Yor has been only focused on taking care of his brother and her work as an assassin so Yor never really put attention into relationships, neither platonic or romantic so when she develops feeling for you it will take her a while to find out that are romantic feelings

Yor is shy when it comes to romance and intimacy, even so she doesn't really has much problems with being around you, even after start dating, however the moment you two start dating Yor start to be little self-consious of herself as a partner, even when she knows that you love her just the way she is, she can't help but be insecure

Yor doesn't have much troubles to adapt to her new life with you in it, but it take her a while get used to direct shows of affection, physical affection make her easily flustered and she prefers to go slowly

Yor wants to be a good girlfriend but she has no idea how to do it, she may be paying more attention to the couples walking around on the streets to get an idea of what she should do and even try to ask for advice to her co-workers (she doesn't want to talk about this with you because she will feel like she is failing you)

Yor is really caring so she is always looking after your well-being, she may not be the best at taking care of someone or even sometimes misunderstand your body language, but she tries her best to take care of you (if you actually rely on her, openly ask her a favor or even thanks her effords it make her really happy and proud of herself)

Yor tries really hard to improve her skills in normal activities, such as cooking, taking care of the house or even thinking in a more romantic and normal way, she is really aware that she is a complety skilled assassin but bad at normal activities, and she has this idea of wanting to be a good girlfriend that start to make her frustrated lot for not being able to do normal things

Speaking of, Yor really want to keep her work as an assassin hide from you, it isn't that she doesn't trust you or that she thinks her work is a bad thing, she just not want you to freak out or bring you troubles (however, if you work as an assassin too then she won't have much troubles worring about it). As well, more than once Yor have thought on killing someone who is bringing you troubles or if that will benefit you, however she will never really do it because she doesn't want to bring you troubles by doing it

Yor isn't really jealous, she is more the insecure type, as well no matter how much time you had been together Yor can't help but doubt herself from time to time, thinking that maybe she isn't being a good girlfriend or that you could find someone else that can do things she can't do

Yor doesn't really tend to drink much, but when she does she quickly gets drunk and is like her mind stop worring and just follow her heart, doing things that she can't normally do, either cuddling you and telling you how much she loves you (with the risk of end up hitting you for getting too flustered) or openly talking about her worries and insecurities, although no matter what she does the next day she won't really remember what she said or did

Yor slowly get used to having just a normal life and doing simple things, just sharing each others company in a mundane routine, and she love it, sharing her life with you in such peaceful way is something she won't change for anything

Just as Yor fears not being a good girlfriend she fears not being a good mother neither, and she feels nervous about the topic so she will wait until you bring the topic, at first of the relasionship she is really nervous about it but the more your relationship grows the more sure she feels about starting a family with you, she will love to do it but if you don't feel comfortable with the idea she is willing to wait or even don't do it too, you two just have to talk about it

Yor is really nervous about introducing to you to her brother, she knows Yuri can be a little intense (or well, that is how she sees him) but knows that she can't avoid this situation forever, so at some point you will meet Yuri and he instantly dislike you, no matter how you are he doesn't like you, still Yor will stand up for you against him if it need it. She really wants for you to get along so Yuri will have no other option than at least give you an opportunity (not without threating to not hurt her beloved sister)

Osomatsu

With Osomatsu you felt like things were so simple. So why did you feel so nervous?! You’d been planning to do this for months now, so when the buzzer finally took off the last of the hair you lined it up to, your nerves started to get the better of you. Unluckily for you, you didn’t have much time to think about it.  “Baaaabe, where are youuu, let’s go get fried ri-”  He stops short as soon as he sees you. Your blood runs cold. Turning around you stutter out, “O-Osomatsu, well, you see-” “Woahhh you look cool!”  This surprises you for a second. He liked it? “You...you think so?” He sports a reassuring grin, “Hell yeah! I mean you were always hot - but this makes you look super hot!” You couldn’t help but laugh at that, though you had to admit, it made you feel so much better. 

Karamatsu 

“Okay...” you breathed, checking both sides of your head in the mirror, “Looks about right.” You felt tremendously good about this. Almost like a weight was off you. The apprehension you felt in your chest was from whether or not Karamatsu would feel the same. You tie your hair back for the moment, still deciding what you want to do with the rest of your locks.  You made your way to the kitchen, hoping to quickly grab a drink,  “Ah, my heart, I was hoping to catch you, I-” he blinks at he stops to take in your appearance; his stare beelining for your new haircut. His eyes become a bit too much for you and you snap your own shut, stumbling on an apology for not telling him what your plans were, but he shushes you with a quiet gentleness.  “Can I touch it?” asks your boyfriend. You peek open your eyes and give him a slight nod. His fingertips connect with your jaw, sliding up your cheek and carefully graze over the freshly buzzed area. His sigh is soft, and when you open your eyes his face spells out a look of sheer adoration. You feel his thumb stroke just behind your ear before he delicately croons, “You look wonderful, my love.” 

Choromatsu

You had to keep telling yourself it would be fine. He’d understand right? It’s just hair! It’ll grow back! Oh god, what if he hates it? The nervous chatter in your mind had you digging your nails into your leg. Choromatsu would be home any moment now and you had made quite the impulse decision with the way you’d cleanly shaved the hair off of the side of your head. However, you didn’t expect to love it the way you did. Yet...you couldn’t deny how much it worried you what your significant other would think. Choromatsu ran it pretty straight laced - and impulse decisions got him bullied by his brothers often. Would he truly dislike what you’ve done? Snapping you out of your thoughts, the lock turned, one green plaid matsu shuffling himself into your shared home. “Ah, the line at the store was long, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting!”  When he saw, your appearance had him stunned. The bags in his hands fell with a heavy thud. A response that made sadness start to rise in your belly. To your surprise, he hollered your name with a high pitch keen - suddenly on his knees in front of you. Hearts swirled in his eyes, his hands clasped in lovesick delight. “So cute! So cute! So cuuuuute!” he screamed, wiggling in boyish admiration. It finally hit you that he was fawning over you - clearly being quite the fan of your new look. 

Ichimatsu 

There was pride on your face after the first few swipes. It was something completely different for you, but something you've been wanting to try for a while now. You were right to do so too, it felt great to have the sides of your head on the lighter side. The buzz of the clipper hid the sounds of feet that had made their way inside the house. You blew on the appliance, loosening a few stuck on hairs before flipping your stance to start on the other side. "Ha...? You didn't tell me you were changing your hair," came a tired voice. The yelp you let out was indicative of how easily he snuck up you. Ichimatsu leaned on the doorframe, his eyes wandering over the side of your head that was untouched, and the side that was already long gone. Drifting downward, he took in the lost tendrils of hair on the ground, separated from you. You bit your lip in apprehension, did he not like it?He hummed to himself, approaching you slowly. His fingers gently took the end of a lock of hair that sat on your shoulder, twirling it in his fingers. A small smile crossed his lips, "It looks good...think you could do mine when you're done?" The feeling of your heart soaring was indescribable.

Jyushimatsu

"Helloooooo in there!" came a sudden shout at the bathroom door. You heart was sent into your throat, you hadn't expected your boyfriend home so soon. The soft buzzing at your head had only completed half of your task at hand. "J-Jyushi! I'll be out in a minute!" you called back. He jovially replied with a quick affirmative and bounced away from the door. A sigh escaped you, and you carefully went back to work - making sure both sides were even. It took a few more moments before you were completely satisfied, and a few minutes after to clean up the remnants.

When you opened the door you were met with a wide smile and two very curious eyes. Jyushimatsu tilted his head, giving you a good once over before exclaiming, "Oh!" With his curiosity building, the yellow matsu bounced around you, his sounds of "Oh!" "Ohhh!" "Oooooooh!" chiming away. His arms shot up, sleeves moving in a wavelike pattern, "I LIKE IT!" You smiled instantly, "You do, Jyushi?! Does it look okay?" He nodded furiously at your question, "I like it a lot! Good for wind resistance!" It was your turn to shake your head, "Jyushi..." He laughs softly, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I really do it like it though!" The warmth in the way he beamed at you reassured you he was being nothing but genuine.

Todomatsu

If there's anything you felt you'd made a great decision on, it was this. With some bravery and a really good buzzer, you finally managed to shave the side of your head. You took a good long look at the lost hair on the ground, nodding as you mentally doubled down with how pleased you were. Your boyfriend was waiting in the living room idly scrolling on his phone. Initially you told you were just going to the bathroom before you would sit down and catch up on your shows together, but this was actually your plan. He heard you step out of the bathroom, "Finallyyy" whined Todomatsu, "I thought you'd never get out of..." You had swept what length of your hair remained to one side, the neat shave of the buzzed side out on display. Todomatsu's expressions started at shock, slipped into an open mouthed grin, and ended with a delighted smirk. "Wowwww" he purred playfully, "The edgy look suits you perfectly, gorgeous." You flushed at his words, "Todomatsu..." He sat up, his laugh light at heart, "I'm serious! You look really good like that. Did you do that by yourself?" He was impressed when you said yes, leaning in close to inspect your work. His nod was one of approval, "And here I thought you couldn't get any cuter." "Todomatsu!" "Ow! Don't smack my arm!"

The both of you would talk about the possibility of giving him an undercut after that.

Somehow, that made her even more flustered. All she could do was smile, hands on her hips, wondering how she could make them equally as flustered.

Mitch: Mitch’s eyes widened, gradually fading and turning into a smirk. “Calm down there,” he said with a chuckle. “Oh, sorry,” Y/N teased, “Guess that’s way too forward.” They shrugged and turned away. “Oh well. Better luck next time.” The two of them always tried to play ‘hard to get’ with each other. But truthfully, that had become their love language.

Aasim: Aasim’s cheeks burst into colour and his lips parted, shocked. “Uh,” he awkwardly cleared his throat and looked away, back to the stick-carving he was using to keep himself from getting too flustered. “I think you have something in your eye.” Y?N gave a quiet giggle. “I don’t think so,” they said simply, beginning to wander away. Staring after them, Aasim couldn’t believe that life was real. Did that actually just happen? From Y/N? To him?

Ruby: Ruby smiled their way, but her expression slowly turned to joyous surprise. “No way,” she said under her breath. Y/N laughed, not expecting that reaction. “What? Is that okay?” “Duh,” Ruby said with a smirk, fully turning to face them. “I just didn’t expect it!” Y/N beamed, their own cheeks turning rosy. That was one of the many reasons they liked Ruby.

Omar: Omar’s jaw dropped. Y/N continued on their way, not wanting to linger for longer than needed to prove their point. Omar quickly whipped to face Louis, standing off to the side nearby. “Did you see that?” He whisper-yelled. Louis simply smirked and patted his shoulder. “Congrats buddy. Maybe you should actually say something next time, though.” Suddenly, Omar’s cheeks grew hot. He had a point.

Brody: Brody recoiled, stunned at the motion. “What?” Was all she managed out. I am fond of Bahman, but he does admittedly harbor some uh, hm, Old-Fashioned™ sentiments and attitudes, see how he describes Team Arslan. Narsus did talk back to the king yes but like he was frustrated after his (good!) work was constantly being obstructed, Daryun can be stubborn yes but so can the older folk he ain't special in that regard, etc etc. Aside from the bond he shared with Hilmes, it is clear here that he does put stock in stuff like status and bloodlines (and obedience to the monarch) and that's why Arslan's lack of royal blood shook him to this extent.

I am sympathetic of him but it is interesting to examine his flaws like this.

Kinda interesting that he described Khuzestan as “the countryside”— the impression based on this discussion I got was kinda rural but not exactly remote or backwater so hmm.

Narsus is watching over the training and I'm just fond of this because does he strictly need to? Back when Arslan was training with Vahriz it's not like his other tutors felt the need to supervise him like that— but Narsus is, and perhaps he wanted to tell Arslan something and decided to wait here until he finished his training or something, but that isn't the impression I got from this chapter, he didn't seem like he was in a particular hurry to tell Arslan something.

In conclusion: He Dad™.

Getting ready to journey again! Not much to say in this scene except Hilmes please calm down a little bit. It is kinda funny that he has faith in Daryun and Narsus, lol, though if anybody were to point it out to his face I'm sure he'd get mad.

Oooookay. Mahendra. Another character I feel bad for, but also hm.

This moment kinda stood out to me during this reread— because my first thought upon reading this scene again was “ain't it your job to, uh, point this out to your charge/liege, my dude?” because that's what an advisor should be, isn't it? Try to steer your lord to a more appropriate conduct and path. Gadhevi acts so entitled and ignorant and arrogant, I assume his upbringing had to do with that and while we don't get much in terms of backstory or how the Sindhuran princes grew up and how much of a role Mahendra could've possibly played in it, we do get a small tidbit from the novels that apparently they used to play together, the half-brothers and Salima (Jaswant was present as well), so Mahendra could've had a part in Gadhevi's upbringing and he... didn't thought to interfere earlier? Just... went along with it passively? Dude?????

Maybe I'm being too harsh on him, maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I couldn't help but fixate on it this time around, he doesn't voice his concerns, he doesn't try to rein Gadhevi in, he's just going along with it and that doesn't bode very well. What if Gadhevi were to ascend the throne and makes for a horrible king with this sort of attitude? What then?? What kind of country does Mahendra want to see?

I suppose this is sort of a common attitude among royal retainers, be unquestionably loyal to your monarch and support them. That's it. That's what Andragoras probably demands of his subjects, that's kinda sorta also reflected in Team Hilmes a little bit (though Hilmes allows himself to be advised and actually values his men unlike fucking Gadhevi), even somewhat in Rajendra which we'll see in a future scene.

Narsus and Arslan's dynamic however, is different.

Arslan is smart and has a good heart, but he is inexperienced and Narsus recognizes this, and he takes every opportunity he can to teach Arslan better. Make better decisions, shut down potentially harmful assumptions, all around he's interested in shaping Arslan to be a good ruler in his own right. He's a dedicated mentor.

I feel for Mahendra, to be sure, he met such a tragic end, but I can't help but take note of his unwillingness to help make his liege less callous. I suppose he was planning to compensate for it with his mercy, but... It's not enough. It'll never be enough.

RIP in advance, Mahendra. No wonder you were doomed from the start.

Khushi isn't suprised by him buying her bangles (she already fainted for that reason lol), she is shocked to see him admitting this gesture of affection. And he's very pleased by her reaction. 😏

Since Arnav confessed, Khushi doesn't care to hide her reason for wearing the bangles he bought for her, she's so cute, she just wants to give back what he just did. Uuugh he told her about his feelings (through that gift), so she will of course run to tell him as she feels too (though insinuation tho loool) !!

-I have confessed! -It's good that you did it! -Fine then, keep wearing it ! -Maybe you're not seeing it properly, but I'm already wearing them!"

Khushi is telling him through insinuations how gladly she'll accept his love if he confesses it, after saying that, she is stuned by what she herself said lol. And I think Arnav did understand the insinuation !

She wasn't talking only about the bangles, but about their love.

Even when they say affectionate words to each other, they have to mask them by pretending to argue to deal with the embarrassment and the tension !! Haha sooo cuuuuute !! Why are they soo shy !! 🙈

"Why? Why did you buy these bangles for me" Khushi asked a second time and her tone is so sweet. "Arnav-ji, please tell me now, I can't take it any longer, let me love you." Arnav was definitely about to imply something but he stopped. But it's not a matter of not willing anymore.

We are just going to ignore Mari's canon event 💀 (at least on her part)

Shuichi Saihara

Over the years Shuichi has grown more confident of himself, he still feels anxious sometimes but he trust himself more and more, as well he trust more in others. However becoming a father is something that almost make him returt to his young self, at least at first, is just that being a father means having someone else's life in your hands, is a big responsability but when the moment it comes he is sure that this is what he wants

Shuichi always works hard to be able to provide his family, even if he isn't the only one handling it he can't help but always want to do his best, he may sometimes get really stressed for work but for him his family is completely worthy of such efforts

Whenever Shuichi has a particular difficult case to solve and he knows he will be working until pretty late he wants to know before hand so he will be prepare and let everything ready for his family, for example in case he has to call a babysitter or even ask one of his friends to please take care of his child while he is out, Shuichi really hates having to leave you alone, even if you already aren't too young. However there are sometimes he has to stay until late night unforeseen and even in those moments he do everything in his power to make sure you won't be alone

It could be either that he didn't manage to contact someone to look for you or that person goes away since is pretty late and you were already sleep, or maybe even the person taking care of you fall sleep, in either case you were awake and you wanted your father, so you decided to stay close to the front door to be there when he gets home, but while waiting tiredness got the better of you and you fall sleep

When Shuichi gets home he tries to be as silent as posible and still he notice you sleeping in the floor almost immediatly, gasping out of suprise but quickly covering his mouth not wanting to wake you up. Shuichi is immediatly worried about you, why you were sleeping there? You could catch a cold or hurt your back for sleeping in the floor!

Shuichi take you from the floor as careful as posible and walks towards your room while thinking on what could be the reason of this, and guilty quickly fullfil Shuichi when he think that y probably you were wanting for him, maybe you wanted to see him, maybe you were feeling lonely, maybe something has scared you or maybe you had a nightmare, he doesn't know and yet all the posibilities just make Shuichi feel worst, holding you closer to him but still gently while trying to hold back his tears

At the end he bring you to his own room to sleep by your side, Shuichi feels terrible for leaving you alone (specially when is so dark outside) and he wants to make it up for you so the next day he will make sure to accommodate his schedule to make some space to be able to spend more time with you, maybe taking a free day to be with you, as well the next day he will ask you about what happened last night (but he wil be a little hesitant while asking you and will definitely apologize for leaving you alone during the night)

Even if it was just because something sweet and silly like wanting to greet him when he comes home he won't stop feeling so bad about it, but will ask you to please don't do it again (or at least wait in the sofa and not in the floor)

Kaede Akamatsu

Kaede has always been optimistic and caring towards everyone, always having a smile to offer and as the time pass she never lost that optimism but learns to be a little more confident on herself

The moment she decides to become a mother she is quickly excited by the idea and start to plan everything, although, as excited she can be about the idea Kaede takes a while to think about it in a more serious manner, having a child isn't just nothing and needs to know that she will take that responsability, even when she is determinated she may be a little insecure and has worries but quickly brush them off saying to herself that she will do her best for her beloved child

Kaede wants to have everything planned because she wants to spend as much time she can with her little baby (specially on the early years) so even when she has work to do or have recitals to attend she tries her best to always have time for you and to always put attention to your needs

Kaede isn't fond of the idea of having to leave you alone (even when you aren't a baby anymore she still feel a little uneasy by it), even when Kaede organize her agenda to stay away the shortest possible time and ask in her work to let her bring you with her there are moments when inevitably she has to leave you, she feels really bad for doing it but quickly try to contact someone that could help her (asking her friends or directly hire a babysitter)

Before leaving you Kaede makes sure to reasure you that she will come back soon and ask you to please behaive, however as the night came and she didn't came yet you decided to wait for her near the front door, either by ignoring the babysitters ask to don't do it or even sneaking behind them

When Kaede is finally home she just sighs in relief, she was planning to pay you a visit on you room, where you're supposed to be, before finally being able to go to her room to rest, however it just take her a moment to notice you sleeping on the floor, and she is imediatly surprised for what she sees before being between finding it kinda cute and funny and to be worried about you

Kaede carefuly takes you from the floor while asking what are you doing there (not really expecting an answer), she make her way towards your room while apologizing for getting so late, in her way towards the room she relice that probably you were missing her or even get scare, holding you closer she apologize once again before giving you a kiss on the forehead, once on your room Kaede carefuly put you on the bed and cover you with the blankets, she just stays there with you, watching you sleep peacefuly and gently stroking your hair, like reasuring her that you are okay, she stays there with you for a moment before going to her own room

Hero

As Hero grow up he slowly heal his wounds and makes peace with his past, growing to be able to look forward to the future

Hero is used to take care of his friends when he was younger, along with his two little siblings so he won't have any problem with taking care of his child, however he doubts a little about actually having one, he feels a little insecure not feeling complety sure about being a good father for his child, but when he does take his decision he promise to do his best

It isn't much problem to get ready for the moment when he can finally have his child with him, he knows what he needs and what he has to do, but he is nervous, he tend to doubt himself from time to time, still he keeps trying his best with everything

Hero tries to be with you as long as possible, however for his work he can't stay with you all the time, that doesn't mean he isn't there for you, he does tries to stay present and to be there for anything important and pay attention to all your needs and every little improvent that you have

Since he had a demanding work he is already used to hire someone to take care of you (sometimes he ask his brother or one of his friends to take care of you while he is out but not frecuently since he understand they have their own things to do), he doesn't like much leaving you alone to don't take risk of you having an accident or even feeling lonely, so even when you start to be self-sufficient he still hires someone

Sometimes he has to work until late or even has some emergency and he has to either stay a little longer or go to his workplace to atent it, in any case he tries to ask someone to take care of you (he won't be comfortable knowing that you are all alone in the house) and notify you about it, assuring you that he will try to come back soon and asking you to behaive with a cheerful voice

As the night came and he didn't come back it could be that you grew worried or wanted to see him, the person who is taking care of you insisted that Hero will come back soon, you should go back to sleep and that he wil be here once you wake up again, although that doesn't stoped you from deciding to wait for him beside the front door, wanting to see him just as he arrive home, but slowly you grow more and more tired and end up falling sleep on the floor

As Hero arrives home he had so much on his mind that it take him a moment to realice you were laying on the floor and another to react about it, and yet he is quickly to hold you in his arms, moving you away from the cold floor, he looks at you a little confused like trying to decipher what crossed your mind to think that sleeping there was a good idea

Sighing a little tired, Hero makes his way towards your room while thinking on it, a lot of posibilities cross his mind, from silly reasons (like you falling sleep while playing) to more serious reasons (such as you waiting for him), although Hero doesn't want to asume and prefer to wait until the next day to talk about it with you (still feeling a little bad about all of this)

The next day Hero will take a moment to ask you why did you do it, if it was because you were scare or because you missed him he will feel a little bad and apologize for leave you alone for so long, if it was for another silly reason he will scold you (but nor harshly), in any case Hero apologize and ask you to please don't do it again since sleeping on the floor can bring you problem and hurt you (he is just worried about you)

Mari

Mari has always been really cheerful and caring, and as she grows up she just learns more about life, changing for the best but continue being the cheerful girl she is

Mari has always been really close to his little brother and to all her friends when she was young, even having the opportunity to see them grow up too, making it pretty obvious that she is fond of the idea of forming a family on her own, having present the memories of her youth, and when she feels ready to become a mother she start to plan everything

When the moment it came Mari is really happy and promised to herself (and to you) to do her best for her beloved child, wanting to provide you and that you never lack anything

Mari has already a lot of experience with taking care of someone and is always really caring so it doesn't take her long to get used to it, still she tries to spend all the time she can with you as you grow up (she doesn't want to lose the opportunity to see you as you start doing things on your own)

Mari enjoys a lot all the time she spends with you, and for how caring she is she tries to always put a lot of attention to you (trying to be patient and caring, learning from the past), she tries to always have time for you and don't focus only on her work and the piano, however there are unforeseen moments where she has to leave you

Even if you weren't a toddler anymore Mari doesn't want to leave you alone so she tries to either contact one of her friends to aks the favor to take care of you while she is out or directly hire a babysitter (she isn't goint to be calm if she has to leave you all by your own, even if you insist that you will be alright)

She promised that it won't take her long and she actually tries to do her work quickly and don't waste much time, specially when the night cames. As the night falls and she doesn't came home yet you decided to wait for her near the front door, really wanting to see her, but, soon or later, tiredness start to win you and you end up falling sleep on the floor

When she finally cames home she quickly gets in, a little lost on her thoughts but not enough to don't notice you, she does almost immediatly, Mari takes a moment before kneeling in front of you and asking you what you were doing there while strocking your hair gently, she can't help but take a moment to admire the scenario, thinking that you were probably missing her, with a soft laugh she carefuly takes you from the floor, holding you close while making her way towards her room

Mari doesn't think further on it and prefer to just keep you close, like trying to comfort you and saying that she is home before tucking you in bed with her and hold you close, wishing you good night with a soft kiss before falling sleep too

The next day she will bring up the topic by first saying teasingly that the floor isn't the best place to sleep on, laughing a little before explaining that she found you on the floor last night, she ask you why did you do it, if it was because you were scare or troubled she hugs you tightly and apologize with a smile, trying to comfort you and ask you what was troubling you, if it was because you missed her she apologize in a more carefree way and promise to make it up to you. She promise to try to don't come back so late at night again if you promise to don't sleep on the floor again

this boy always claims to never be ticklish, but one thing you never tried was raspberries. he was laying on the bed after his shower with nothing but grey shorts on. one arm was behind his head as the other rested on his chest. “can i do something?” you asked and positioned yourself near his torso. “you’re going to try and tickle me again, aren’t you?” he raised a brow and you smiled. you placed your lips on his stomach, blowing a long raspberry. his lips twitched into a smile and his arm jolted a little. “okay, maybe it did tickle a little.” he admitted.

So, I’m fat, and ever since I was 12 I was made to feel ashamed about my body. I met my current partner online, and I loved her very much, she loved me too and insisted she would no matter how I looked, but I was so afraid of showing her my body in any way. - i loved seeing ellie play around with the gun in the bathroom. that felt like the perfect amount of childish innocence contrasted with the fact that she clearly knows how to use a gun on some level

- THE JOKE BOOK THE JOKE BOOK THE JOKE BOOK!!!!

- i totally didn't think we would see that scene with ellie and joel in the truck, i thought that the end of the last episode was all we'd see! i even showed my friend a clip of that scene from the game because i didn't want her to miss out, oops. super cute though

- joel not being able to sleep because god help him, he has a job to do. my hearttttt 😭 and the fact that as soon as he recognizes that he cares about her, even the smallest bit, he rebuilds that wall and insists that she's just "cargo", not family. typical joel.

- they really upped the tension leading up to the iconic "he ain't even hurt" scene (although i'm sad they cut that line, because it implied so much about joel). i loved how ellie felt genuinely scared and joel kicked into protector mode (and the callback to sarah hurting her leg: "are you hurt anywhere, are you hurt?" was so good)

- okay so of all my predictions on how the stolen gun would turn out, ellie successfully saving joel was the option i called the most boring, but i'm actually 100% happy with how it turned out. we finally get to see some humanity, remorse, and sadness from ellie in relation to death, something i've been CRAVING. this felt like the ellie i know and my heart broke seeing how that encounter happened. the fact that joel actually apologizes and doesn't act like an asshole after? hello?? that was a welcome change. hbo!joel is a lot more self-loathing where game!joel is more closed off to emotion in general, so this makes sense to me. joel teaching ellie how to properly hold the gun was so cute! and then she puts the gun in her pocket anyway yesss that's so ellie, that's my little shit

- "it wasn't my first time." HMMMM is she talking about riley? did she have to kill riley? :( or someone else?

- melanie lynskey killing it as always!!! it makes so much sense to tie her to henry. i'm super interested by her story! it feels like a soft intro to abby's future story; maybe they're introducing the idea of the cycle of revenge now so people won't freak the fuck out when we get to part 2? one can hope...

- jeffrey pierce!!! i didn't recognize his face but as soon as i heard his voice i was like omg

- this is a dumb complaint but i really wish they had used ashley johnson's cover of true faith for the credits. but i'm glad lotte kestner is getting recognition after what happened with the original trailer

g1: love it!!! first encounter with pastel horses! got a dvd box with the series for christmas one year and I still love them so much!!

g3: love it!! got an advent calendar with some super cute stuff and mini scootaloo, rainbow dash and pinkie pie one year but hadn't watched any of it until last year (NEED to watch more it's just so adorable!! also hope I can watch some of it in swedish one day! that'd be so fun!)

I often feel like I'm dumb because I just idk I think simpler(??) than other people, like I guess I'm not as critical but (and even though I'm going to continue thinking this about myself I will now proceed to tell everyone else:) there's nothing wrong with just liking something (*sped up tv commercial voice* as long as you liking that thing isn't hurting you or others in some way) just because you think it's cute, fun or whatever, you don't need to write a 50 page essay on pros and cons and compare it with a bunch of stuff y'know, does anyone know what I'm saying!? 😂 there is no this is bad and this is good stamp on things because everyone enjoys different aspects of different things and have different preferences. I dislike marvel movies and think equestria girls is one of the best things ever, does that make stupid? no! does it make me smarter than people who think the opposite? no! it's simply makes me a person with preferences, different people seek out different things in different media because different things have different meanings to different people, and that's okay! some people love to pick apart and analyze every aspect of a show and look for deeper meanings and lore and while I too can appreciate things like that sometimes my main reason for liking something is does it make me feel happy and do I enjoy looking at it and listening to it? and both of those ways of enjoying something is valid! 🧡

okay so my paternal grandmother was a single mom to 4 kids back in the late 1950s and 60s, back when it was even more of a struggle than it is now. she pulled double shifts as a dispatcher for the police department so she could make ends meet on her own. but no matter how tired she got or what kind of day she had, she always carried herself with poise and grace. at the risk of sounding old-fashioned, she was the true definition of a lady. several years ago when my son was still a toddler, i remember sitting on the edge of my dad's bed with her, talking. and she turned to me and told me that i reminded her of herself bc i was raising a child on my own. (ONE child, mind you.) she praised me for being so determined to work hard and to do whatever it takes to make sure my baby boy has the best life i can give him, such as it was at the time. it was a struggle back then and i've made a really good life for us in the years since. but the way she recognized my strength and resilience...the way i've never complained about not having a man (i don't miss them tbh), the way she compared me to herself (as if i had done anything close to what all she did!)? that. that was the best compliment i've ever received, hands down.
