If there’s anything that gmod roleplay YouTubers got right from a narrative perspective it’s the concept of a rational protagonist being placed into an inherently irrational environment and surrounded by inherent irrational people. Even better are the concepts of the rational protagonist eventually becoming less and less relatable to the rational audience as they change and morph due to the influence of their environment and surrounding characters. It’s not a loss of humanity or morality. It’s a loss of the physical and tangible logic within themselves and the way in which they interact with the world around them.

Fun unspoken but Canon facts about my fanfiction part 1: the name "Cam' was the compromise of a lifetime.

Whyin and CM argued for hours over what their human last names would be. Whyin originally wanted 'watcher' but CM shot the idea down because if they used that theme then his last name would be 'copy' and "-that's already my name dammit! I'm not gonna be copy mark copy! Pick something else!"

CM wanted 'Smith' or 'Doe', because it was the most average human name he could think of in his very limited idea or what normal human names are, on account of the fact that he has never been human before. Whyin claimed that was basically naming themselves 'totally real human' and shot the idea down without mercy.

Whyin then suggested 'Poam' pronounced poem. CM hard vetoed it once he learned it was an acronym for 'Property Of Actor Mark' and threatened to throw a mirror at whyin.

The two considered 'Pov' as a middle ground, but eventually changed it to 'Cam' to make it less obvious what they were referencing.

Side note: it is immediately obvious to any intelligent beings they meet that 'Cam' is a fake name. The issue is though, because of the eldrich reality warping powers they both have there's??? Records of them??? And a family going back atleast 5 generations using the name??? But their all obviously the same two people with different colored hair or hats???

This is Canon, mouth of God (the author) shit that will never be addressed in the main fic series.

Okay! So a continuation of my last post about my Magical Girl AU. I worked out who the antagonists and side characters are- At least for the first 2 seasons if we were to imagine this is an actual show-

(It’s important to keep in mind that for at least S1, the only people that knows the duo’s secret identities are Mare and Phantom themselves.)

Madpat- (Side Character) Is a mad scientist that the duo meets at the beginning of S1. Mad doesn’t actually get involved in stuff until later on in S1 and more in S2z he acts as a friend and ally to Mare and Phantom in S1 and 2.

Jackie/Jackaboyman- (Side Character/Antagonist (I’ll explain)). Jackie starts off as a bit of a rival for the two (especially on Phantom’s side of things) since Jackie is still a hero and is also working to save the city. However this doesn’t last long. The three of them find common ground and Jackie becomes a good friend and ally in seasons 1 and 2.

Antisepticeye- (Antagonist) Our first actual antagonist/villain of this AU. His presence is first represented by glitch monsters that our duo defeats at the start of the AU. As things goes on, Anti starts to attack them in person. He’s able to travel through technology. Mare and Anti develop a more bitter rivalry than him and Jackie. He’s the main Antagonist of the first season.

Darkiplier/Damien- (Antagonist) He is treated as a mysterious entity through out most of the first season. Once the second season hits, he’s treated as our villain for S2. Damien is interesting because in this AU, Phantom and Damien is revealed to have some history and that definitely starts to bleed over into Phantom’s double life. Dark is able to turn people into shadow versions of themselves. Even though Dark is the center antagonist, Anti is still there, acting as a partner in crime for Damien.

Wilford Warfstash- (Side Character/Antagonist(?)) Wil is a wildcard who mostly acts on his own accord. Who he’s working for is revealed in S3- Bro has a damn gun and a martini in his hands most of the time lol.

(Other characters are also more relevant in S3)
