I LLLOOOVE This cat so much
Best character development imo
I like to think that he still feels really bad about Stonefur’s death no matter how much time goes by. But he definitely redeemed himself as leader
Also sorry if my style keeps changing I’m still experimenting lol

Longstar AU — Chapter Twelve
Longtail padded through the ThunderClan territory. It had been a few moons since he had become deputy, having to run the clan when Firestar and Sandstorm went off on a quest sent by StarClan. The clan seemed to trust him, and so did Firestar.
He'd also gained an apprentice in Squirrelpaw, one of Firestar's daughters. The she-cat was a ball of energy, but he didn’t mind too much. Swiftflame was like that sometimes, too. The only real problem was her rivalry with the warrior, Brambleclaw.
He dropped into a hunting crouch at the sight of a rabbit, softly creeping forward toward the fluffy creature. He leapt toward the rabbit, but before he could dig his claws into it, it reared up on its hind legs, scratching at his green eyes.
Longtail stumbled backwards, his eyes burning like fire. He let out a hiss.
“I can’t see! I can’t see!” He yelped, digging his claws into the ground.
“Longtail? Longtail!” From the scent flooding over him, he knew it was Blizzardspots. The she-cat leaned herself on his side, “He’s been injured! C'mon, help me get him back to camp!”
Seemingly the rest of her patrol padded up behind her, herding him back towards the ThunderClan camp. He was herded into the dark cave that was the medicine cat den, Leafpaw and Cinderpath rushing toward him.
“The rest of you out,” Cinderpath hissed, “You can stay, Blizzardspots. Tell me what happened.”
The rest of the patrol padded out of the den, Blizzardspots settling down beside Cinderpath. Leafpaw crowded Longtail into a nest, grabbing herbs and beginning to turn them into poultice.
“When I found him he was yowling he couldn’t see,” Blizzardspots mewed. “I have no clue what attacked him.”
“A rabbit,” Longtail mewed, “I-I was trying to hunt it, and it scratched my eyes.. and it began to burn.”
“The rabbits claws were most likely dirty,” Cinderpath mumbled. “It’s probably infected. But, there’s a chance you can regain your sight.”
Longtail took a sharp breath, “Really?”
“Even if you don’t I doubt it'll stop you,” Cinderpath twitched her whiskers. “I almost became a warrior, even if I chose to stay in the den with Yellowfang. Swiftflame and Brightheart became warriors. And Snowkit will, too. Even if a little late,” She smiled softly. “You'll stay a warrior and stay deputy, if Firestar has anything to say about it. And he does.”
“She’s exactly right,” Firestar padded in. “I heard what happened, Longtail. Once you’ve been cleared by Cinderpath, you'll resume your duties.”
“.. Thank you, Firestar.” Longtail murmured.
“A disability shouldn’t stop you from being a warrior, or my deputy,” Firestar flicked his tail.
“Correct,” Cinderpath mewed. “And I doubt you'll be completely blind, as of now. It'll most likely fade over time, but for now you should still be able to see relatively well.”
“Alright,” Firestar dipped his head. “And I’ll get someone to take over Squirrelpaw's training for now. Thank you, Cinderpath.”
The ThunderClan leader turned out of the den with a flick of his tail.
“Leafpaw,” Cinderpath beckoned her apprentice. “Have you made sure you cleaned Longtail's eyes, and bandaged them accordingly?”
“Yup,” Leafpaw gave a small smile.
“Well done, Leafpaw,” Cinderpath inspected the wounds quickly, turning back to her apprentice and Blizzardspots. “Leafpaw and I are going to look for herbs. Mind staying here to make sure nothing happens to him?”
“Of course not,” Blizzardspots dipped her head.
“Thank you.” Cinderpath dipped her head back, padding out of the den with Leafpaw in toe.
Blizzardspots padded over to Longtail, settling down beside him, pressed up against his side.
“How does it feel?” Blizzardspots murmured.
“A bit better,” Longtail curled his tail around the white she-cats. “Thank you for staying with me.”
“Of course, Longtail.” She rested her paw atop of his, “You're my mate. And I love you.”
He rested his chin atop of her head, “I love you too,” He murmured.
“Now.. seems like a better time than any to tell you,” Blizzardspots muttered, gazing at her mate. “I’m.. im expecting kits, Longtail. Your kits.”
“Oh, I—“ Longtail stammered, than he rasped his tongue across her cheek, “Than I suppose we’re going to have kits. Have a family.” A small smile crossed his face.
A purr rumbled from her chest, “I’m excited to meet them, you know,” She glanced at her slightly swollen belly. “I’ve always wanted to have a family. And now.. I’m having a family with a cat I truly love.”
He purred softly, resting his head on his paws, “Me too.”
She rested her head on his side, closing her eyes.
(hi! author here! last chapter for today because I’ve posted so many today lol. we’ve finished the sort of arc 1 type thingy and are moving into two. [as well as series two] I’m also gonna open my ask box feel free to send me some asks!)

The Rewritten Timeline
Period One
- Ancients: LionClan, TigerClan, LeopardClan rule the forest, told through dramatic epics of lions getting their manes, tigers their stripes, and leopards their spots.
- Dawn: DOTC except they do not come from the Tribe of Rushing Water or the ancient cats from the lake. they are descendants of tigers and lions and leopards, with the five clans taking traits from the three big ones and dividing the forest amongst them to share in peace and harmony. there's the in between the AE and DOTC, with the Tale of Two Brothers (Gray Wing & Clear Sky), One Eye's Demise which created the Dark Forest, the Bloodiest Battle and the creation of StarClan, and Moth Flight's Vision which led to the Moonstone and creation of medicine cats. Thunderstar and Skystar are not father/son in this au. All Clan founders are the same age in this au 👍
- Might of Justice/Code Era: the warrior code is established in a series of events that have since become fables. The tradition of the Gathering on the full moon is also established by Birchstar of SkyClan after the events of Cloudberry's Lament. Half-moon meeting for medicine cats is also established in this era by Swiftfoot of WindClan during the events of The Medicine Cats Decide
- Skyfall Era: SkyClan gets driven out. The name initially puts blame on SkyClan, but this era is eventually referred to as StarClan's Failing or The Four's Secret in modern versions of the stories
Period Two
- Golden Era: After SkyClan was forced out of their home, the four remaining Clans seemed to prosper, proving to those who sympathized with SkyClan that they were better off without them and the four Clans were righteous. Peace and harmony were restored for a brief period, until Ripplestar's attack
- Bloodstained Era: The Clans quickly fell into old habits of killing and plundering one another, still relatively lawless in regards to battles and borders. Four new rules were added during this era in order to prevent the copius amount of bloodshed that had happened without rules to guide the Clan cats. The Clans realized that in order to distinguish themselves from rogues, they had to maintain some semblance of dignity and honor as well as respect for each other
Period Three
- Secrecy Era: The Clans stopped relying on each other and Gatherings became short due to each Clan trying to prevent inter-Clan romances after Mapleshade's death. Oakstar is also conducting his raids on Twolegplace during this time in order to appease StarClan and make sure none of his warriors betray him again
- Thunder's Beginning Era: Goosefeather's birth marks the beginning of this era. His prophecies changed ThunderClan, and by extension all five Clans, forever. Pinestar's Secret was added to the code during this era and an interpretation of the code began to gain traction: where loyalty is stressed, might = right, and some rules are deemed not as important or are tossed completely. This era ends with Brokenstar succeeding Raggedstar
- Fire Alone Era: Rusty is brought into ThunderClan and eventually becomes Firestar. This era covers the events of the first series and ends with Scourge's demise. This era also establishes the banning of cruel renaming in the code. Also Longtail is made deputy instead of Graystripe at the end 👍. After Longtail loses his vision, he steps down as deputy and then Graystripe is chosen 😊.
Period Four
- Midnight Era: This era covers the events of Brambleclaw and crew leaving to the Clans making it to the lake
- Sunset Era: Begins with Tallstar making Onestar leader instead of Mudclaw and basically the second half of TNP. Ends with Firestar choosing Brambleclaw as his deputy in replacement of the missing Graystripe
Period Five
Some cats argue if Period Five and Four are actually separate, since all the events that happened are so close together time-wise, but others argue they are distinct and separate due to the different prophecies that ruled both periods
- Beyond Stars Era: Covers basically all of PoT, with changes to who knows about the Three and Sol's influence and Firestar dying in the fire scene. Hollyleaf's Gathering outburst is what officially adds the medicine cats can't have kits rule to the code
- Omens/Apocalypse Era: Covers all of OotS, with Bramblestar taking over ThunderClan and Rowanstar taking over ShadowClan. The Clans are uneasy with Hollyleaf's disappearance, since they all thought she was part of the Three. Dovewing's discovery of her own powers puts most cats' minds at ease. There are small groups of cats in each Clan that fear the Three and their power and believe they are going to bring the worst and destroy the Clans with their power. This era ends with the Great Battle
- Recovery Era: Dovewing's Silence & Bramblestar's Storm take place during this time, where the Clans are trying to decide how to deal with the DF trainees and the loss of a good chunk of their Clanmates. Two new rules are added to the code during this time. One for dealing with DF trainees and Bramblestar's rule about helping the Clans
Period Six
- Return of SkyClan Era: covers all of AVoS, Hawkwing's Journey, and Tigerheart's Shadow. The Kin stays for longer this time, Onestar and Darktail still die together but at the end instead, and Tree's mediator position is added to the code
- Longest Night/Cruel Season/Ashfur's Reign Era: begins with the long leaf-bare and ends with Bristlefrost's double death and the restructuring of the code

Im finally rereading TNP and, before I even begin to read the traveling, I finally found a major reason as to why I hate the journey: There's no effort put into having any of the six cats be someone to be invested in during the journey.
I haven't actually read through the whole book yet but if I remember correctly, there is nothing at stake or anything of substance that is learned or changed about any of the six: Feathertail, Stormfur, Brambleclaw, Squirrelpaw, Tawnypelt or Crowpaw. The journey is just cats walking in a direction and nothing along the way is impactful to any of them so the journey ends up feeling empty and useless. But one of the cats has something going for him that could develop throughout the journey.
Crowpaw is a clear outsider to the group. He has no pre-existing connection to any of the other five in the group and doesn't even know them outside of Gatherings or border spats. Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw are clanmates, Tawnypelt and Brambleclaw are siblings, so are Stormfur and Feathertail. Tawny, Bramble, Feather and Storm even shared a nest as kits during TPB when Goldenflower was caring for them.
He is stubborn, angry and has a clear distaste for authority. (could it have something to do with his late father being the previous deputy and his mentor taking his spot?) He clashes with Brambleclaw for inserting himself as leader, and is difficult with Squirrelpaw and Tawnypelt. Stormfur does not approve of his budding relationship with Feathertail, in which she does not let his attitude get to her.
Crowpaw has a clear arc to go through. He is on a journey to an unknown place with cats he does not know, nor like. Does he go through this arc in the books? No. I don't know why Brambleclaw was chosen to have the majority of POV chapters during the journey when Crowpaw has the most room to grow as someone who is basically a random cat they picked off the street. Any little development that Crowpaw goes through is not seen or shown to the reader since he does not hold the POV candle.
His personality doesn't even have to change entirely. He can stay angry and stubborn but he can still find a way to get along with, and even care for, the cats he traveled with. He can potentially even realize that he is capable of caring about other cats; but I need to read the whole arc before getting into That.

Longstar AU — Chapter Eighteen
“Firestar!” Cloudtail came traipsing into the camp, Brightheart, Whitepaw, Brackenfur and Swiftflame coming in behind him, looking bewildered and shaken. “Longtail! Where’s Firestar?” The fluffy white tom came rushing up to him, his paws skidding in the sand.
“.. He went out hunting,” His green eyes narrowed. “What happened, Cloudtail? Is someone hurt?”
“No, it’s not that.” His ears flattened, “Monsters. In the forest. And they’re headed this way!”
“What?” Longtail hissed, “We need to get everyone out of camp, and now. Get all the warriors and an apprentices, I’ll get the queens, elders and medicine cats.” Cloudtail nodded, dashing toward the warriors den.
Longtail turned, his mind running a million miles a minute. He shook his head, slipping into the nursery.
“Papa!” Silverkit mewed with a smile.
“.. Is something wrong, Longtail?” Blizzardspots gazed at her mate, “You look.. worried.”
“Monsters are headed this way,” Longtail mewed hurriedly. “We need to get out of camp. And quickly.”
Blizzardspots ears flattened, gazing down at their three kits. Than she glanced back up at Longtail, the tom nodding his head.
“Mama?” Dustkit mewed softly, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, baby,” Blizzardspots rose to her paws, rasping her tongue over the little tom's head. She glanced at Ferncloud, “Do you need help carrying the kits?”
“Yes, that would be appreciated,” Ferncloud mewed.
“I'll help her. Follow the other cats out of camp,” Longtail meowed. Blizzardspots nodded, herding the three kits out of the nursery, Dustkit trailing slightly behind. “Go on, buddy.” He nudged the small brown tom closer to Blizzardspots, a gentle purr rumbling from his chest.
Longtail leaned over, grabbing the small brown tabby she-kit from Ferncloud's belly. The she-cat smiled, raising to her paws. She grabbed the other spotted gray kit, padding out of the nursery.
“Pass her off to Dustpelt.” Ferncloud mewed softly, “You have kits to worry about. No use worrying about mine.” Her whiskers twitched, gesturing toward her mate, who was padding toward them.
“I’ve got it,” Dustpelt mewed, taking the kit from his jaws. “Thanks.” He said, dipping his head to the deputy. The pair padded off, joining the other cats exiting the camp.
“I’ve already got the elders.” Graystripe approached him, his ears twitching, “And Sandstorm got Leafpaw and Cinderpath. Go with your mate and kits.”
“.. Thank you, Graystripe,” Longtail murmured, rushing after his mate and three kits.
“.. This is terrifying,” Blizzardspots murmured, gazing at their three kits close in front of them. “I.. I thought our kits would live safe, happy lives.. and now..”
“Hey.” Longtail nudged her shoulder, “This doesn’t mean they can’t. Maybe this will all be over soon.. maybe they're not even going into the camp! We don’t know. And we can’t assume.”
“I’m only worried.” Blizzardspots sighed, “Thank you, though.”
He rasped his tongue over the she-cats ear, “Of course.” Soon, the group of cats arrived at Sunningrocks, a loud rumbling in the distant. His ears flattened, gazing at the large monster as it rumbled past.
“D-dad.. what was that noise?” Dustkit murmured, his small body shaking as he pressed up against Longtail's leg. “I-it was really, really loud.”
It must have been louder for him, Longtail though, glancing at his son curled at his paws.
“It’s okay,” He lent over him, rasping his tongue over his head. “We’re okay. It’s gone now.” Longtail mewed softly. “I know it was loud, but it’s okay. It’s nothing for you to worry about.”
“Come on, dear,” Longtail glanced behind him, Blizzardspots nestled beside a rock. “Come and grab something to eat.” She flicked her tail, the small tom pressing his nose to the soft grass, following the scent of his mother.
“He’s adorable!” Whitepaw popped up beside Longtail, her tail flicking with excitement. Dustkit puffed up, shaking ever so slightly, “Oh, sorry.”
“Be careful, Whitepaw.” Brightheart hissed, “He can’t know you're there, it’s going to scare him.”
   “Sorry.” Whitepaw dipped her head.
In a few moments, Dustkit was padding up to the she-cat, gazing up at her with wonder in his blind blue eyes.
“Hello.” Whitepaw purred, leaning down to meet the small tom. “I’m not scary, I promise.”
“You don’t sound scary.” Dustkit twitched his ears, “And you don’t smell like ShadowClan.”
Longtail twitched his whiskers, “She’s our clanmate,” He mewed. “She’s not ShadowClan, Dustkit.”
“I’m Whitepaw.” She mewed. “We'll probably be apprentices together for a little.”
“.. Will we be friends?” Dustkit cocked his head.
“Why, of course we will,” Whitepaw twitched her whiskers, purring. She touched her nose to his, “Now run along and get something to eat.”
Dustkit turned slowly, picking up Blizzardspots scent once more.
“Thank you, Whitepaw.” Longtail meowed. “He’s a bit on edge with all the noise.”
“Of course!” She smiled, “He’s only a kit. I understand why, y'know. And I’ll take care of him when he’s an apprentice, if that makes you feel better.”
Longtail flattened his ears, “I’m not worried about him when he becomes an apprentice. He'll be a warrior like anyone else.”
“I’m not saying he won’t.” Whitepaw narrowed her green eyes a bit, “But you're obviously worried about it.”
“.. Well, a bit,” He mumbled. “I just don’t want him to have a hard time, like Cinderpath or Brightheart or Swiftflame had after their accidents.”
“I understand, but he isn’t fragile,” Whitepaw hissed. “You're not fragile, are you? Cinderpath, Swiftflame, my mother? Are they?”
“.. No.” He murmured, adverting his gaze.
“Exactly.” That warm smiled crossed her expression again, “He'll be a warrior like anyone else. Who knows, maybe even a better one than you.”
“Don’t be saying that to your deputy,” Longtail hissed playfully. “I might just hold back your warrior ceremony.” He playfully cuffed the apprentice over the ear.
“Ah! You wouldn’t dare!” Whitepaw laughed, a bright smile crossing her face.
“.. Longtail!” Firestar's mew echoed in his ears, “Is everyone safe?”
“Everyone’s accounted for,” Longtail dipped his head. “Kits, queens, elders, warriors, medicine cats, apprentices. We’re all here.”
“Good.” He sighed, “I’m.. I'm not sure what we’re going to do.”
“We'll figure it out.” Longtail mewed softly, “I would like to see if WindClan would let us stay in their camp. Or RiverClan.”
“WindClan, more likely,” Firestar took in a sharp breath. “Now that Deadfoot's set to be leader im sure he will.”
His ears flattened, “It’s sad Tallstar passed,” He murmured. “But I’m sure Deadfoot will make an excellent leader.”
“He will.” Firestar flicked his tail, “You and I will head over in the morning to speak with him. For now we rest,” The leader turned to his mates. “I suggest you get some good rest.”
