About Warwick Johnson-Cadwell:Warwick Johnson-Cadwell has been drawing as long as he can remember, enthusiastically digesting comics and transposing James Bond, spaghetti westerns, and Hammer Horror movies onto paper. This drawing persisted, taking him through an Illustration degree and on to work in publishing with work for The Guardian and The Times newspapers. He’s done Animation Design for several projects in commercial and features studios including Aardman Animation’s Pirates! His comic work has featured in Nelson (2011), Lovecraft Anthology 2 (2012), Sold State Tank Girl (2013), Samuari Jack (2018), and many “small press” titles including Dangeritis (2014) with Robert Ball. He also skippers boats on the southern coast of England. He collaborated on Helena Crash with Fabian Rangel Jr. and, most recently, Mr. Higgins Comes Home and Our Encounters with Evil with Mike Mignola.

Join the 2017 Inktober Design Challenge

Inktober Design Challenge

The Inktober Initiative was established by Jake Parker in 2009 as a way to improve drawing skills but to also create a certain discipline in the process. Apparently many thought it was a great idea and took on the challenge.

Today, Inktober is a yearly global phenomenon. Every October artists all over the world challenge themselves to create 31 drawings with a certain theme or motifs. There is also an official prompt list and a few rules you need to follow.

While the list can be anything, and below I included a few versions for you inspiration, the rules should be closely  followed. That is if you want to join this community and get the chance of a retweet on the original Inktober account, followed by around 34k people. That kind of targeted exposure could lead to some productive collaborations. Plus, it’s always fun to see artists being challenged when there’s only the love for art at stake. No material prize, no glory, just passion for drawing.

And I also think the time of year give way for some thrilling themes. For the blog, this is an excellent way to kick off Halloween season!

Make sure to follow the #inktober on Twitter and create something gorgeous everyday, all year round, not just this October.

Welcome to the world of Helena Crash from IDW Comics. Issue #1 is out now. #2 coming soon. She was born Helena but earned the name Crash on the street as a courier for illegal goods. The most illicit being coffee. Problem is the bosses she does business with expect her to drop her neutral status and choose a side. Life is getting tricky. I stumbled across this series and my geeky heart fell in love quick. Writer @fabianrangeljr and Artist @warwickjc are absolutely killing it on this book. Alternate cover of issue 1 is to the left. Cover for #2 is on the right.
