I'm finally getting a chance to start setting up Veronaville, I've only been talking about it for what like a week and a half? I've been using rural charm as my lush default for ages but I found this veronaville replacement so that's kinda fun and lordcrumps' tree defaults are giving me life it's so pretty! I'm so used to seeing a desert with Strangetown/LFT.

I've not done anything but add the clean template, replace the map, and add a skyline/sky. I downloaded all of Katatty's lots a few days ago so that's my plan for tomorrow is to replace all the lots. Then add Académie Le Tour, makeovers, all my other regular setup, etc. And then I do still plan on making a second blog before I start playing so that my Veronaville screenies aren't all mixed up with my Strangetown screenies (not to mention my queue of Strangetown screenies seems to be permanently about a month out because I take so many... we'd never get to the Veronaville ones 😆)

If anyone plays Veronaville and plays with traits, what traits should the premades have? I still know virtually nothing about these sims. Although I learned yesterday that Patrizio's bio mentions llamas so I'm finally gonna get to use the 4t2 llamas and goats and stuff and I'm so excited!

Lil (long) simblr gratitude day post

I wanted to make a post shouting out some of my favorite creators, storytellers, and just general simmers from over the last year, mainly focused on ts4 since that's where my attention has been the most. Long post ahead so it's going under a cut. If you're not tagged please know I did wake up late today so it's not as complete of a list as I wanted it to be!!

@adelarsims - You are an essential in my mods folder!! I love how much realism and/or character your cc adds to sims, from things like the piercing holes to the wonky glasses to the mechanic overlay... Just so many little things that I can't imagine not having in my game or on certain characters now. Speaking of characters, your sims both original and premade are always so gorgeous, and I really enjoy your interpretations of wg and jeb. & Thank you for being WCIF friendly, I know it takes time to get that info but it's so appreciated, u've help me find some very beloved pieces of CC. Also the level of dedication u have to organizing your mods folder is incredible and you've inspired me a lot to get my folder's act together finally!! Which is SUCH a QoL improvement

@bearphase - I adore the bright legacy and I admire all the little details and effort you put into your posts, like fixing clipping issues, making icons and templates for custom careers or story events, ur creativity really shines through. You've also reminded me how fun NSB can be and inspired me to get back to it and my human enough gameplay and I can't thank u for that enough, it's got me sooo excited for future simming endeavors

@daisydezem - You've been a welcome addition on my dash back since POSE, which was a fantastic first community experience for me and so much fun, & I love your gameplay & love how much work u put into rainbowsin! @oshinsimblr - Long 1 incoming... While I've never been a sims 4 hater, like a lot of people I've still struggled with the gameplay aspect of this iteration, so it's been really inspiring to watch how you go about your game and immerse yourself in it, see all the care you put into your sims. I have to thank you for the videos you've made on it, like the one on how to make sims you connect to, season 1 of Lovesick where you went basically vanilla with the specific intent to show people how much you can do with imagination and what that looks like in gameplay! It's been literally game-changing for me lol and helped me to have more fun with my saves, even if they're not one of the rare few that starts out off the rails, I get more enjoyment playing it out until things do start happening outside of my control. & YOUR CC RECS!! I've downloaded so many of the mods you've recommended and I love how much they fill out the game. On the topic of Lovesick, I have not been able 2 get enough!! I'm so hooked lmao. Watching this series has really taken me back to the days when I was a teen reading like those particularly juicy drama-filled sims 3 stories you can't help but to keep clicking "next page" on, except Lovesick is so solid writing-wise. SO excited to see where Lizbeth is going in her life!!

@simandy - Your hairs have been an essential in my CAS folder for so long, and I've been so impressed with the evolution of your creations over the years. I've always liked your work but GODDAMN the quality always blows me away these days!! & I really, really adore and appreciate the variety! @squea - ANOTHER SORT OF LONG ONE BUT ... Your sims just POP!!! SO much character, and your edits and art r phenomenal. Corn is one of my favorite little digital guys I've had the pleasure of experiencing on line in all my years in the sims community reading stories and gameplay. If Cornelius has a million fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has ten fans I am one of them. If Cornelius has no fans I am no longer on the earth. If world against Cornelius, I am against the world. So on and so forth TBH you've also helped me have a lot more fun with the sims 4 talking about how you enjoy your game, and have a healthier mindset about my place in the community and connect back with the reason I made this blog in the first place, which was just to have fun and archive something I love, regardless of whether it got any attention or not! I started going MIA a bit post 2019 after really getting involved in the community, for Life Happens reasons, and naturally the lack of consistent posting for a while meant less eyes on whatever I came back to share. For a while I let that discourage me esp when a lot of effort was put into something, but after you posted about just genuinely enjoying ur game and loving what you made regardless of notes it made me realize what I was doing and helped me get back to that state of mind. Now whatever I make gets to matter simply because it matters to me, even if I post it at like 3am bc I'm so excited and no one ever sees it bc of that DHKDHKHSD. & I feel like I have u to thank for that!! U turned da lightbulb on

I've been messing around more with making CC the last couple of months and your blog has been so incredibly helpful, and I highly recommend everyone interested in creating or just wanting to maintenance and mend their mods folder a bit check them out!

@warwickroyals - Ok so first off your clothing is a STAPLE in my folder for my more wealthy and/or fashion-oriented sims! And as for the Warwick Legacy? One of my absolute favorite simblr stories I've read. I still remember when I started it, it was pretty late at night so I was just planning on reading a handful of posts and then picking it back up the next day. That did not happen I could not stop. Straight up stayed up the entire night bingeing all the way to the latest post (which was the Big Phillip Thing. I had to get up from my computer to pace I was having a Moment LOL) I've got some catching up to do but so far I think that's been my favorite arc. Aside from that your editing is beautiful, and I've always been a character enjoyer so I'm in love with how much thought you've put into all of yours, and the fact we get to learn so much about them. I think you do a really good job of balancing the cast and I really dig your storytelling style in general.

I fixed all those boring community lots in Veronaville!

Some of the worst premade lots in The Sims 2 are most definitely the Veronaville community lots... So I decided to do makeovers of these lots and save them up to drop all 4 at once! The lots are mostly Maxis objects with a few pieces of CC. Links & pics below:

Tagged by @charmandersims, so I figured I'd answer. I don't share my sims stuff any more but I do still play. (Now that I finally have a computer that can run it again.) I never tag anybody, but if you're a sims person and you want to do the tag, do it!

What’s your favourite sims death?

I like death by satellite. I don't make a habit of killing my sims on purpose, but sometimes, just to let some frustration out, I'll make a sim of an annoying person and drop a satellite on them on purpose.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

Maxis Match. I think alpha CC looks out of place in any sims game.

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

Not usually. Sometimes, if I have a story reason for a sim to be skinny, I will, but usually I just let them stay fat until they roll the want to be skinny again.

Do you use move objects?

ALL. THE. TIME. I have to. I try really hard not to get my sims stuck places but sometimes they get stuck. And sometimes you just want somebody or something RIGHT THERE. Move objects is the easiest way.

Favorite mod?

I'm gonna go with Macrotastics. I like being able to tell my sims to do something using the macro menu instead of giving them 47 commands.

First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

I first played Sims 2 Deluxe, which had the regular game and Nightlife. My sister got it for our ancient PC (which we called the Rocket, because it always sounded like it was going to blast off). Boy was I surprised when I got the base game for my Mac and there wasn't a downtown or dates or anything!

Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?

I think I say "live" like "alive" but I don't know. I don't usually say it aloud, and then when I think about it for this kind of question, I can't figure out what I actually say...

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?

So, I don't know that I ever shared this neighborhood (and if I did it was ages ago and all evidence has been deleted) but I made a BACC founder named Lexi who I really liked. She was kind of quirky and she had elf ears...(I don't tend to make a ton of my own sims...)

Ages and ages ago, and I don't have one around anymore.

What sim traits do you give yourself?

Bookworm, Shy, Creative, Loves Kids...I'm a family sim? (I don't think about this much...Can you tell?)

I'm a sucker for red hair. I always wanted red hair.

Um...I don't know? I haven't used just EA hair for a while now.

I'm going to say toddlers, because they're cute, but I like all ages.

More gameplay and storytelling than building. I'd rather download something if I need a specific lot, but sometimes I just have to build it myself.

Not really anymore? I mean, I have people who I know play sims on here who I'd call friends, but we don't talk about sims. I just like their posts of their sims. (Is that friendship?)

Sims 2. I never played Sims 1 or Sims 3, and while I got into 4 for a while, I find the gameplay too shallow for me to enjoy it longterm. Whereas with Sims 2, I can remake the same town and makeover the same sims 47,000 times and not get tired of it.

Do you have any sims merch?

Nope! I can't think of any that I'd really want either. It's cool to have, I guess, but I don't wear jewelry or t-shirts much and I have too many mugs already...

Nope!

How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing?

Um...I've just kind of learned a lot more about how the game works, I guess? I've probably gotten more Maxis Match...Um...When I first started I was making original characters in original neighborhoods and now I play premades?

I have no clue. I don't use Origin anymore, since I don't play Sims 4. (Sims 2 still runs on my Mac without needing Origin, for which I am rather grateful.)

I can't pick just one!

How long have you had a simblr?

Since...2013, maybe? I don't remember exactly. I started on Tumblr around the time people were moving over here from Livejournal, because I wanted to follow certain people whose blogs I liked.

How do you edit your pictures?

I use Preview. I just kind of crop them and that's it.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

If somebody would make the last two expansions for Mac, I'd be so grateful! Specifically Apartment Life. I want witches!

What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far?

I'd say Nightlife is my favorite. I also like Open for Business, because Bluewater Village is my favorite neighborhood, but as I mentioned, Nightlife has features I can't live without. (Also Bon Voyage just for the "walk to lot" feature.)

Going to use this ask as a gentle reminder to everyone to just be kind ♡

Most of the sims I've been sharing with you all have been premade townie's by EA that I've edited to fit my gaming style. I do my best not to change townies features, minor detail changes at the most just because The Sims has a habit of really doing townies dirty with overly-cartoonish features and ugly outfits. They're also not the only sims I've edited, just the makeover's I've been proud of and wanted to share with you all.

The gshade and photo editing apps I use tend to lighten and make my photos a little more monochromatic as well.

That being said, my newest series is based on the television show Sex and the City - a show about four white women in the city. Amira and her family are actually of Arabic decent, and there are plenty more original and diverse sims coming in the future! It's something I have been working on personally because I feel it's all too easy to wind up with same-face syndrome. Perhaps you or anyone else has some tips on how to make my sims look more diverse since The Sims tends to whitewash literally everything.

Please keep in mind that while I have been playing this game a very long time, I am an amateur creator when it comes to this community. I am always open to tips, tricks, and suggestions as long as they're constructive and kind ♡

Speculative Secrets for Strangetown Premades

This is just me speculating what the premade sims of Strangetown who weren’t in the Sims 2 PSP secrets might have if they were included. In this version, I’m imagining that Ajay, Erin and Kristen live in Paradise Place as roommates. 

Olive lives in the Meetinghouse with Ophelia. Nervous managed to escape from the Beakers and now wanders the Deadtree area.  Buck, now a teen lives in the barracks and is training to become a soldier like his brothers. Chloe and Lola were “convinced” to move into the barracks by Buzz Grunt like the Smiths.

Buck Grunt

(Personal) Adores fashion and loves to give himself and others makeovers.

(Intimate) Has a crush on Jill Smith but is too shy to admit it.

(Dark) Once broke his father’s computer in order to gain Buzz’s attention. 

Ajay Loner

(Personal) Has often bored other sims to sleep due to his droning voice.

(Intimate)  Eats plain bread for breakfast every morning and only adds butter to the bread when it’s his birthday.

(Dark) His sole reason for moving to Strangetown was that he wanted to count the sand grains of the desert.

I never got into Sims 3, so I don't know any of the townies/worlds that don't relate to premades from the earlier games. Let me look them up! Gimme one sec...

The absolute crime of excessive camo... the incestual implications...I am... lmfao I am just... WOW! There really are just no words. I feel like their description is a wild ride from beginning to end.

I added a Graphic with up-close pics of the family below for those who, much like myself, might have been blissfully unaware of this monstrosity of a family's existence before this cursed day.

Skeet and Gwayne... that's ummmm another choice! I have never heard the name Gwayne in my life and have no idea where they pulled that from! You're right about Tay though, he does look British! He's very out of place with his little sweater vest: a little sickly Victorian boy in the midst of what looks to be a trailer park family.

But listen... I have to admit that I hate the way all the sims in TS3 look, so I'm not super impartial. The animation just weirded me out for some unknown reason, but I've thought of giving it another chance in recent years as it is so beloved on here. My younger sister, however, loves The Sims 3 - I need to ask her how she felt about this family as they are indeed especially rough, you're right!!!

All that being said... I'm not gonna lie I'd play this family and have a grand old time. This kind of wackity-tackity cuckoo banana shit is right up my alley. Now they're on my townie makeover list! 😂

Do you have any advice on renovating lots? I'd like to give some premade places my own personal touch, but I just can't really find a decent foothold to get started with.

Hm, this is a tough one, because I don’t really have that much super-specific advice, just general tips? I have posted some decorating tips before, HERE & HERE, although they’re mainly geared at interiors. For for actually renovating lots themselves... hm.

When renovating a lot, I find it really useful to have a “vision” in mind, I guess? I find reading about different archtectural styles and trying to mimic them in the sims really useful! Concept art is really helpful for this I find, stuff like this I just found by googling “architecture styles”:

So When I take a Maxis lot, I will often try and think about what Maxis were “going for” with their build and try to take it furthur - the Goth House is a good example, a lot of people I have seen renovate it into a second empire style and I think it works really well! The houses in Veronaville are ones where I tried to emphasize the original style when renovating them, too, they always maintain that English Tudor or Mediterranean look.

Of course there’s also times where renovating a lot I try to transform it into something totally different to the original, the Desiderata Valley houses are a good example of this! Mainly because I’m not even sure what Maxis were really going for with those houses, haha. I’ll usually look at the general shape of the lot, google a style I think would work for it, then just... kinda try to copy it? An example - 189 West Pleasure Path uploaded yesterday is loosely based on this house. Since it was completely square I thought going for something “town house-y” would work well.

It’s nothing like an exact replica of course, not everything in real life can be accurately reproduced in ts2, but the yellow siding walls with the terracotta roof, as well as the overall look of the porch/balcony is directly copied from here! Then the green shutters and front flowerbeds/stairs are copied from that “American Townhouse” picture furthur up. I really can’t oversate the importance of using references when building and decorating, it always helps me make more interesting decisions rather than just doing the same things over and over!

This is slightly unrelated, but I also often decide on a certain aspect of the original lot I want to keep the same when renovating - often this will be something like “I won’t change the floorplan”, but sometimes it also means I keep the colour choices similar, keep certain pieces of furniture, stuff like this makes it more like a “renovation” and less like tearing it down and starting over (although for some houses I do end up doing the latter, haha). When starting out with makeovers, I think less can be more? Sometimes a lot just needs a few small details updating, not all makeovers have to be big epic transformations!

One thing I’ll openly admit I do when making over a lot is see what other people have done with the same lot - usually by googling the lot name or checking out users I know have done similar stuff before. I don’t think there’s any harm in this, it’s no different to using references as an artist. It’s nice to credit your inspirations though, I try to always do this.

Of course, I realise I’m just giving a lot of tips of inspiration/copying and not so much on how to actually replicte those styles in your own game and use them in an original way... that stuff is trickier to explain without getting into hyper-specific examples and I think is mainly something that just comes with practice. You will find the more you build and decorate, the more you get to know the catalog and know what kinda combinations look good. You’ll probably even find you have a couple of go-to tricks you gravitate towards - mine is probably using mismatched furniture, and that one black and white checkered tile I use in all my “fancy” kitchens xD

Anyway, hopefully this was at least a little helpful, let me know if there’s anything specific you would like me to talk about in more depth, I always enjoy rambling about stuff like this :)

Hey anon! Yeah, I actually had to take a look when I started because I had a few mishaps on recent meshes that irritated me (I hate having to make updates on stuff) but like... yeah, March! This year March. Miss Frizzle said take chances, make mistakes, get messy. I do all three regularly lol. I'm still learning (there's a lot to learn) but I'm truly having fun doing it and opening up to talk to people I look up to.

I usually plan a two week period of custom content silence so I can kind of reset and make stuff at leisure. The biggest thing is I make content predominantly for me and my game. So, if it's not right or it's crashing, it's not something I can leave out in the universe for long because if it's not good enough for me, it's sure as heck not good enough for a whole community. My uberhood I started in November 2019 and it takes a long time for me to get through because I have 4-5 subhoods now and a Capp/Curious/Smith baby explosion that basically ruined the hood with twisted family ties (I have 80+ households in one rotation).

Beau has grandkids, isn't that weird?? I did start with the Big 3 (PV, ST, & VV) and by rotation 15 I added BWV (so adult Beatrice Monty married Malcolm Landgrabb). I think somewhere around rotation 20 something I added Riverblossom Hills and gave them all new faces through the pooklet method (You'll see Stella is one of my main models). I ran out of sims that weren't related (pro tip: do not EVER grant the 10 kids want to Jenny Smith or Albany Capp - too many people in either of those families). This hood is on hiatus because I am starting up a full blown uberhood with all families gen corrected or pooklet'd

Sometimes I just wanna unwind and not think about my own story. Went into Desiderata Valley and moved Cyd & Porthos Roseland into one of the houses, gave him a makeover and a job as an Animal Linguist. His bachelor pad is kind of swanky and so does he (there’s something about Cyd that makes me go ‘ooh’, y’know?).

Anyway, here’s Cyd with a made over Edward Contrary (a Dolphin Tank Cleaner) and townie Bertram Gable (a Dive Master). They’re all staying over at Cyd’s to eat sushi, talk about higher education...and probably have a threesome (I’m sorry, I have a thing where I arrange orgies for the premade males). 

Headcanon is they’d know each other since they’re in the Natural Science-Oceanography careers and shy suburban dad Edward (he’s such a Scorpio, isn’t he?) is charmed at how charismatic the bachelor Cyd is (of course, since he’s an Aquarius). Boisterous dudebro Bertram also admires Cyd and was the one who introduced Edward to Cyd, and Edward would be lying if the young diver doesn’t spark something in him.

Andi Mack Diversity Appreciation Week Headcanons- Day One: Race/Heritage

Omg. I typed this all out in fic form but accidentally deleted it and couldn't get it back so hopefully I don't forget things from my first go as I frantically turn this into headcanons before midnight.

Warning: Crazy Rich Asian spoilers

Andi is lounging in her room one weekend morning when Bex asks her if she wants to see a movie. Andi agrees and gets ready.

When she's done getting ready, Bex tells her they're waiting on one more person to join them. Andi thinks it's Bowie but surprise...

It's Cece! Andi is shocked because Cece hasn't gone to a movie since Andi was seven.

They go see Crazy Rich Asians. Cece and Bex are absolutely giddy, and it makes Andi excited too.

Cece gives Bubbe Rose a run for her money. She's like Mary Poppins. She sneaks in popcorn and all the best Asian grocery store snacks.

Strawberry creme filled panda cookies for Andi, Hi-Chews for Bex, wasabi peas for Cece. Plus yogurt drinks for each of them.

Andi is worried she won't relate to the movie because she doesn't feel that Asian (only a quarter) on the outside, and the inside- she's not your typical piano playing, studious and introverted Asian (but she does have straight As, thank you vey much). Also she's not thirty years old, thinking of careers, family and marriage. But a few minutes minutes into the movie there's a quip about wearing white at funerals makes her feel at ease. She can relate to this movie.

The scene where Rachel is told she's not enough makes Andi's heart clench, she knows how that feels. But is glad no one in her family thinks that ever.

Then when Rachel says she is enough, Andi feels like she is Rachel. Feels strong and brave and could stand up to anyone. When she looks over to Bex and Cece, they have matching tear stains on their faces, and their hands are clasped together. It makes Andi's heart soar ti know they're all sharing this feeling.

As they leave the theater, they talk about their favorite moments. They agree Singapore looks beautiful. Andi loved the styling/ makeover sequence. Bex loves Peik Lin and her honesty, and all the attractive men. Cece to no one's surprise wants tan huas of her own. And is already trying to get Bowie help procure one for her.

The conversation inevitably leads to food, and Andi laments she doesn't eat enough dumplings. So they decide to go to the market to get all the ingredients they need.

The dumpling skins are premade, not rolled out by hand, but no one seems to mind. Cece shows Andi how to crimp the edges but Cece's always turn out better.

Bex's dumplings are stuffed too much and the filling seeps out the edges even though they're using a spoon to make them all even.

When Cece places the bamboo steamer in front of them and lifts the lid off, Andi's mouth waters in anticipation.

As they sit around the kitchen counter, eating dumplings, talking and laughing, debating if they should learn Mahjong Andi knows in her gut that this is exactly what she needed in her life- sprinkles of her heritage in everyday moments, and for her it's enough.

Blast From the Past

-Chapter 4/7-

Grian: Come to my base ASAP!!!

It had taken MJ some time to figure out how to turn on his phone, but even then he wasn't sure how to respond to Grian's message. Instead, he boated to Grian's base as quickly as he could, hopeful it wasn't an emergency.

"I'm here, what's wrong?" MJ yelled down in the base.

"Come on down, we're just waiting for Ren!" Grian called back.

MJ looked around, quickly realizing there were no stairs or ladders to be seen. "How do I get down without dying?"

Grian just laughed. "Use the elytra I gave you, silly!"

MJ rifled through his things, finding the silvery wings gifted to him nearly a week ago. He hadn't touched them, in fear of flying by accident and dying. "I dunno how!"

Grian flew out of the basement with a laugh. "You still haven't figured it out? I learned by myself in a day!"

"To be honest, I haven't really tried.."

What?" Grian gasped. "How do you get anywhere? Let me help you, cmon."

"I walk just fine," MJ defended as Grian pried the wings out of his hands, strapping them onto MJ's back for him.

"Now, grab a rocket, like this. You see that little string? Jump in the air and pull the string at the same time, and you'll take off! Just be sure you're pointing towards open air so you don't crash! Here, follow my lead."

Grian showed MJ how to place his feet, and how to jump to get the best air time. Then, Grian pulled his string, shooting into the sky with a whoop.

"He really is a greaser without the grease..." MJ mumbled. He carefully held his rocket, prepped to activate it, and jumped. In an instant, he was soaring, wind tearing through his hair and making his eyes water.

"You did it!" Grian cheered. "Isn't this way better than walking?"

"I guess," MJ laughed nervously. "How do I get down?"

"With much difficulty!" Grian laughed. He looped around the base one last time before elegantly touching down. "Now you!"

MJ tugged on his elytra, trying to slow his fall as gracefully as Grian did. Quickly, he realized his touchdown would be more like a crash landing, and screamed.

Grian simply watched and laughed as MJ crashed into the glass, but instantly panicked as he received the message:

Mumbo Jumbo fell from a high place.

Grian: SOMEONE GET TO SPAWN

Grian: MJ DIED

Grian: I'M NOT SURE IF HE'LL RESPAWN HERE

Zedaph: Are there any supplies at spawn? Nether portal?

Xisuma: He likely doesn't know how to use a portal

GoodTimeWithScar fell from a high place.

Scar: He respawned here! :D

A wave of relieved texts flew past, and Scar assured that he would bring MJ to Grian's base immediately. Five minutes later, a wobbly MJ flew into Grian's base, accompanied by Scar.

"Oh I'm so glad you're okay! I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't respawned here!" Grian cried and threw his arms around MJ.

"Ah, I'm glad too." In that visceral instant before he died, MJ had the thought he might respawn at home, and in that instant, he was happy.

Did he want to stay here?

"So, your full name is Mumbo Jumbo, huh?" Scar giggled behind his hand.

MJ rolled his eyes with a grin. "Yeah, yeah. And you wonder why I go by MJ."

"You could have so many fun nicknames!" Grian bounced. "Like Mumbo, or Mumby, or Mum! Well, that one sounds like I'm calling you my mother..." Grian laughed.

"I'll stick with MJ, thanks. And thanks for helping me fly here Scar!"

"No problem! Good to see you're coming around to the idea of elytra." He winked. "I'd better get going, good to talk to you, MJ!"

"So Gri, what did you call me here for in the first place?" MJ shifted back to Grian.

"Well, while you were gone Ren came, so we can get started!"

"What's crackin, MJ?" Ren stood up from his seat on a chest, where MJ hadn't even noticed him. The man wore an expensive watch that matched the silver buckles in his suspenders, and had an air of cockiness about him. "Let's use the aviary, eh G?"

"Let's go!"

The trio carefully flew up into the cozy bird room, which held a strange fold out wall, blocking part of the room from view.

"What's with the..." MJ gestured to the wall.

"That's the changing room! There's a couple premade outfits back there already, you should try them on!" Ren herded MJ behind the wall, where a comfortable changing room had been set up. And, as Ren had said, there were a few outfits hanging on the wall. "Which one do you wanna try first?"

"Why do I have to try any? What's wrong with my outfit?" MJ protested.

Ren looked him up and down. "Baby, have you seen yourself lately? You look like a Steve that got mauled by phantoms."

MJ examined closer, and did admit his jeans were basically tattered, and his shirt wasn't really blue anymore. "Fine, fine. How about this one?" He grabbed a simple shirt with shorts curiously.

"Sure, we'll start there."

"...ah, do you mind?" MJ flushed, waving Ren away.

"Fine, fine! Just saying, we're both dudes, you didn't have to make it weird." Ren muttered.

"You made it weird first," MJ mumbled to himself. Ren was a weird guy, but overall one of the more approachable hermits he had met so far. He quickly changed, stepping out from behind the wall to display his new outfit.

"Ah, you look like a different person!" Grian clapped.

"Eh, the shirt is a little plain. Who wears plain white tees anymore? And the shorts are a little too short for your long legs." Ren criticized. "Go try another."

MJ shook his head, and went back to try another outfit. This one was definitely a Ren selection. "I don't wanna show you guys this one. I feel stupid." He called over the wall.

"It'll be fine, we won't judge!" MJ could hear the smirk in Ren's voice. He shuffled into view, just enough that Ren and Grian both burst into laughter. "It's so much better that I thought!"

"The- The ruffles really compliment your eyes!" Grian choked out through his laughter.

"You guys are the worst." MJ hid behind the wall, throwing the cotton candy outfit onto the floor. He pulled on the last outfit hanging up, and felt it was the best option yet. "Well?"

"Not bad!" Ren complimented. "I'm glad we kept my old outfit, it looks good on you!"

Grian nodded slowly. "I like the suspenders... I've got an idea. Ren, you take measurements while I grab fabric." Grian exploded out of the room, flying quickly to the shopping district.

"By chance do you know your armspan?" Ren quizzed.

"Uh, isn't it supposed to be the same as your height? I'm six foot five inches tall."

Ren tutted, pulling out a measuring tape. "Come here." Ren wrapped the tape around MJ's head, arms, legs and waist before Grian finally returned, arms full of fabrics.

"Let's get down to business!"

Four hours later and Grian appeared, exhaustion evident in his eyes. "Done! I'm so glad I finished today, this will be perfect! Go try it on!"

MJ eyed the outfit as he changed into it. "It's a little formal, ain't it?" MJ tugged at the tight starched collar.

Grian's eyes shone. "You look INCREDIBLE!!"

"Wow, with some hair gel you'll look perfect!" Even Ren seemed impressed.

"It's just..." MJ unbuttoned the suit coat and collar, loosening the red tie. "That's much better!"

Ren was beaming now, a light blush covering his cheeks. "Stunning! The handsome rouge, the ladies will love it! Let's give you a haircut!"

Almost an hour of hemming and hawing later, and Ren deemed him ready for the public.

"Do you guys have a mirror?" He wasn't keen on the makeover at first, but now MJ was excited to see how he looked.

Grian procured a mirror, and MJ nearly gasped when he saw himself. He was like a different person, who had really good fashion. "You sure with this much hair gel no one will think I'm a beatnik?" MJ teased.

"I don't know what that means, but you look incredible!" Grian grinned ear to ear. "Let's go to the shopping district and show everyone!"

"Ah," All of a sudden the full day of activity caught up with MJ. "Maybe tomorrow? I need to get back to Z's digs before night."

"You're staying with Zed? Nonsense, I have an empty island right here! Come be my neighbor!" Grian was bouncing with excitement, rambling about all the fun they would have as neighbors.

MJ laughed. "Man, now people are really going to think I'm a beatnik, hanging out with a greaser like you!"

Grian froze, confusion filling his large eyes. "What's a greaser?"

"Uh... I guess, it's someone who gets into trouble a lot, because he wants to fight authority." MJ withered when he saw tears well up in Grian's eyes.

"Like, a criminal? Do you think I'm a criminal, MJ?" Grian didn't move to wipe the tears rolling down his cheeks.

"No! Not at all, it's just that- you've got your preps, and they follow the rules to a T, and you've got the greasers fighting the norm. It's not good or bad, it's just different!" MJ scrambled to save himself, but evidently only made it worse.

Grian fell into Ren's arms, who eyed MJ harshly. "I don't know what things are like where you come from, but you could at least be nice about it. Cmon G." Ren and Grian took off, leaving MJ alone in the aviary.

MJ flew. He couldn't quite see where through the tears, but he hadn't gotten far when he crashed into a sandy beach, and sobbed. "I just want to go home! I don't belong here. Lord, science, however I got here, send me back. I just want to go home..."

But you are home!

"Huh...?"

MJ opened his eyes to find his forest, with his half-finished house tucked neatly on the outskirts. His animal pen was full as well, pigs oinking loudly for his attention. MJ rose slowly, and walked through the door. The house was unfinished, but he quickly noticed his inventory filled with wood.

"But I thought... But it was all gone! What is happening?"

A hiss from the front door sent MJ scrambling across the floor, throwing the back door open and sprinting away. "Not again! Not my house!"

Clattering bones came from the trees, filling his brain. "Stop! Leave me alone!" He cried.

Arrows whizzed past his head, snagging his sleeve. "Hey! Grian made me this! STOP!" He tripped in his distraction, scratching his face and palms.

Then the zombies. As much as creepers annoyed MJ, zombies were the worst. They moaned, grabbing MJ's clothes, tearing it to pieces. Their strong grip was impossible to resist once they had a hold on MJ's arms, dragging him in opposite directions. He screamed, but he couldn't hear it over the clattering and groaning in his brain.

"GRIAN!! GRIAN PLEASE, SAVE ME!!"

It's okay MJ!

"STOP STOP STOP I CAN'T DO THIS, STOP STOP-!"

A swift slap to the face shut him up quickly, and he shivered, crying silently. "You good, man?"

MJ pried his open, finding an unfamiliar face. He had a beard lining his strong jaw, and wore a large green jacket. Most notable however, was his left eye, which was made of iron, and glowed green.

"Oh good, I thought you would never wake up! That must have been some nightmare, you butt-dialed me in your sleep! It's lucky you did so I could come wake you up!" The man laughed, and it made MJ want to laugh despite the fact there were still tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Thanks, I think. What's your name?"

"Iskall! The redstone half of Architech, since you already know the builder half. You were yelling Grian's name a lot, what were you dreaming about?"

MJ shivered remembering his nightmare. "I was back home, but there were so many mobs..."

"Huh, wonder what caused that." Iskall's gaze made MJ wither.

"Oh yeah. I know what."

"What happened, man? You called Grian a criminal?"

"I guess Grian told you? I didn't call him a criminal, okay? I was asking if he was a greaser! It's not bad, I was just wondering what I was getting into, being his friend!" MJ defended.

"A greaser? Dude, Grian did not tell me that's what you said!" Iskall laughed. "Oh, sweet Grian, so oblivious sometimes."

"Wait, so you believe me?"

"Why wouldn't I? Everyone's been texting about how nice you are for the last week, and you think I'm not going to believe you?"

"How can I apologize to Gri? As much as he's a weird kid, I wanna be his neighbor..." MJ smiled slightly at the thought.

"Eh, he'll get over it. Buy him some tnt or something." Iskall waved. "More importantly, we need to get going! You've got an appointment with Impulse in ten minutes!"

Please you need to tell us more about this little story you have in your head with Lilith and Allegra, I want to know the plot and what you're planing to do (if you're making it one day). Oh geez oh gosh thanks for this message! :D Hello! I definitely want to make it into a proper story eventually. I like the idea enough to want to put in the hours and effort to make it at least a little bit as decent as it is in my head, though, and since for the next few months I won’t be able to, writing will have to wait some more. However in the meanwhile I’d be happy to share smaller building block bits of what’s going on with my ubermegahood sims if there’s interest! I love talking about Strange County. Where should I start, though? Since writing neatly organized meta is what I do for fun, I kind of have a pile of documents full of plot bunnies, general notes, character histories and worldbuilding arranged by households already.

Hmm. For example lately I’ve been focusing on fleshing out the Grunt boys. Like looking at them through a (cough) realistic lense and figuring out the different ways how them having had to grow up in the environment they did has affected the boys. I decided to go with the implication the General was intended to be Olive’s next victim at the start of the game, but with a (still a little muddy) spin. It isn’t Olive, but she is involved.

So at the point where Strange County storyline picks up, the General’s disappeared some years back, and the brothers have had to rebuild their lives  and learn to look after themselves early on. They’re all interesting individuals with their own issues and nasty conflicts between each other, but still, there’s a hopeful vibe under all the melancholic grime that they’re capable and willing to sort themselves and each other out to eventually try and make the best of things.

Currently Tank’s my favourite of the three. He’s far smarter than the people around him give him credit for. Reliable, responsible, he tries to be a good person, and learn from his mistakes. He lacks the tools to build up his confidence, and has never had anyone in his life who’d have helped him look for them. His changed* father could have, had he been in Tank’s life longer.

Tbh I like the short personality blurb I have of him written down too so I’ll cp it here: Deputy Grunt’s the quiet and serious type to an awkward extent. On the surface he has no sense of humor, only the bare minimum of social skills, and he doesn’t appear to have much going on for him in general. He does, of course. Quite a lot of pressure under that crewcut. Most people just haven’t earned his trust enough to see any of it.

Oops this got long already and I could go on for hours more. So yeah, I’d love to receive questions about SC, specific characters and dynamics especially if anyone’s interested in reading me waffle on the premades!
