#was about to watch the new H3 podcast

Hi Quinton!! I have been a HUGE fan of your stuff since a friend sent me the Tobuscus Fallen Titans (I used to watch him back in high school and was like "huh, wonder what happened to him after those allegations") and I gotta say, it is REALLY FUNNY every time my fiancé and I watch the iCarly videos again, because when you cover Gibby's stunt double breaking his ribs, you cut to a clip of The Official Podcast. I used to play D&D with one of the main dudes from the podcast, so when he talks during that clip I do a goddamn double take literally every time.
Anyways, I remember an original Patreon stretch goal being a Fallen Titans on Homestuck! I was really big into Homestuck in my early 20s, and was wondering if that's still on the table at some point? If not that's fine, I understand plans change! I just love Fallen Titans lol, the Fred episode and the Neil Cicierega unFallen Titans are some of my favorite videos of yours!
That's a real funny story!
So here's the rundown on the Homestuck video. When I first started making long videos, they were actually inspired by the relationship I had with other YouTubers at the time. I used to watch, like, H3H3 and Filthy Frank, etc; and I'd always see people obsessed with the versions of creators from the past. Like, "Oh 2015 H3 was the best" and "Oh 2012 Frank was peak." So I had this idea that it would be crazy if H3 posted, like, a video he spent a decade on and you got a new video with 2015 H3 10 years on. (I don't watch H3 anymore ironically)
So the original idea for the "long video" format was that it would be cool if, throughout a long, analysis/review/recap video, you kept noticing someone get older. Maybe my months, maybe by years. That's why I always like to get a haircut when I start one of these videos. If you scrub through and you see my hair get longer and messier as it goes on I think that adds something magical you can't fake.
So... My pitch to the Homestuck video was that it would be funny to work on it just once per year. To record one segment, say "That's it for 12 months", and then come back around to it. And when I was making the iCarly and Victorious videos I actually recorded a few minutes of the video! I think it was two segments in total. But then I had a bunch of personal stuff happen and my work drive has been much lower, so any "back burner" video hasn't gotten much attention since then.
Now that the iCarly mini-series is done with, I want to focus on some short one-off videos I can make before April. But once that's done with, I would REALLY love to start work on a few more long-term projects which will take months or years to finish. I think returning to work on the Homestuck video, to at least get the first 20-30 minutes done, would be a great idea this summer.
Now, if you want to know my pitch for that video, here it is. The video is not a recap of the creative history of the franchise. I do not get into drama, community hell, lawsuits, or other YouTubers. My idea is this: you always hear about Homestuck as an outsider but you never hear about the actual content. Most franchises on Earth I know something about, even and especially if I've never been interested in them. I can tell you a bunch of facts about wrestling and MLP and the Fast and the Furious simply through cultural osmosis and having friends who are into those things.
I can't tell you the plot of Homestuck, who the characters are, what the themes are, nothing. I've known a lot of people who were into Homestuck but nothing about the series!
So I thought it would thus be funny to make a video about a bunch of people who know nothing about the series starting from the beginning and giving their reactions, even if it's been years since it all started. I call this part of the video the "Homestuck Book Club." So the next step is me picking out the members (who all have to have no history with it) and making sort of a podcast setup. We'd then read and record every six months or so, IDK.
This is why the video has been stuck in production hell! Everyone who wants to work on it and messages me about it already knows the franchise. I don't want spoilers, I don't want people writing for the video who get it already. I want to capture the "what the fuck is this" energy of three dudes just getting in the middle of it.
Also, I think that I really like the theme of the video capturing our lives as they go by, capturing us aging and changing. If you came back from the future and told me this video comes out in five years, I'd say great. If you told me it comes out in ten years, I'd say awesome. Until then, the latest edit will always be on Patreon, even if you have to dig a little.

Ok what podcast I need a good one to listen to! And I agree. I’m a big fan of the most likely explanation is the more boring one. She’s fine, they’re just incompetent
it's called the H3 podcast! Here's a link to the Royal Family part, although overall idk if this is a great episode to start with so I'd just watch the Royal Family deep dive part and then go with a different one after that jkhdsfg.
Really highly recommend it though; it's a good combo of talking about pop culture / the news, just kind of being silly, & recurring guests on the show (they're currently re-creating a season of The Bachelor with Jeff Whitteck of um. almost murdered by David Doberick fame, & used to have a weekly episode co-hosted with Trisha Paytas, for example). I like it because it's a good way to intake commentary on hot topic current events kinda shit in a thing that doesn't take itself too seriously and it has its own like ~*~*plotlines*~* in there too

If you haven’t watched the new pod because Mike was the guest again 😂 I suggest one part you all should see. At around 24 minutes Mike gets serious with Jeff about relationships. Jeff said he’s going to do the H3 podcast show’s Bachelor series because they’ve had success with all the matches so far. Jeff said he thought that’s what he wanted (a relationship) but then sounds a little hesitant. Mike talks about how you need to make sure your business and whatever is going on in your life is automated and set up so it’s easy bringing a girl into your life. He asked Jeff if his life is automated and Jeff actually was honest and said no. So he knows he has stuff he needs to work on which is good and surprising because we know Jeff lies all the time “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been”. Mike actually gave him a great talk and advice and it was a really nice moment. Hopefully Jeff took it all in.
That's sound advice, Jeff should listen to him.

I really want joji to go on the H3 podcast. Are you a fan of Ethan and Hila? Where you ever a fan of FF while it was going on?
I'm not really a follower of Ethan and Hila's channel but I think they're really cool people and I watch their vids on occasion. Also I know my boys love them, I couldn't dislike them in the slightest and I get really happy every time they get a W. I consumed the Frenemies drama like crack tho lmao. And yes, I'm literally praying that Joji comes back to the screens some day, and it's in their friend's show! A long podcast of just conversation, DREAMY. I'll tell the story about how I got into Joji again lol, I'm sorry, but I like to talk about this :B It all started with my love for goob boi here, Dave Brown, aka "Boyinaband"
Tumblr media
He was my favorite bae at that moment, theoretically he still is, but he just left Youtube and socials, we can see him in occasion, just a heads up of him being alive. Suddenly, I saw Ian in one of his videos, a BTS of "Asian Jake Paul" and I recognized him from videos of other youtubers that talked about him. I watched the AJP song and loved it, and started to check his videos. I got to the video "A war is coming" from the recommended section.
Tumblr media
And I saw that pink guy who also looked familiar to me. Clicked his channel and realized he and Filthy Frank, who I also heard about from other youtubers, were the same person. I always thought there was this youtuber which entire channel was dedicated to be a guy in a pink suit lmao. I watched the videos that included Ian on them, and then I started to get on "recommended videos" this singer called Joji, constantly. I thought he was the new trending singer and I watched his music Video "Will he", and I remember exactly what I thought about him that very moment: "This young man has the exact beauty teens are looking for nowadays, he looks handsome and heartbroken, this little fella is going places" and moved on. Then youtube kept recommending me his interviews, and a couple days later I clicked on the Hot Ones interview, and boy oh boy I fell on my ass when I knew this sad and beautiful young man was eating a cake made of hair and getting puked on by Ian. My brain went "the duality of men" and I was hooked till this very day. So yeah, starting there, I watched all the Filthy Frank series. It was october 2017. Sorry for the massive answer 😅

👉👈Can I tell y'all what I did today and overshare?
I got up at 6:25 and hit the snooze button till 10 mins b4 I had to b at work like I always do <3teehee and I used dry shampoo on my hair bc I didn't want to take a shower yesterday
I drove to work and listened to the new svt album and was like damn ok game boi game boi game boi I guess
I put on my apron and noticed that the necklace I literally got yesterday fell off sometime between home and getting to work retraced my steps a lil since then and never found it last place It could b cuz I didn't rlly look there is my yard
Had a 4 hr shift today which I never really get days so short but it was relatively uneventful work day
I bought salmon to cook for dinner and some other stuff like I finally bought some flowers to put in my window planter thats been empty but one of them wouldn't scan so I was like well ok whatever free flowers 4 me I guess >:]
looked for my necklace in parking lot on way out and couldn't find it 🙁
Put stuff away when I got home and finally washed dishes that I've been putting off for like a week
Put some kimchi ramen in the microwave
Wondered if I should do laundry and then noticed I had a little blood stain on my sheets so i washed pillow cases along w other stuff
Ate ramen while watching yt on tv and felt really dizzy and light headed occasionally while eating and it was really fuckin weird
Watched stuff on the whole Steven crowder h3 podcast whatever and by that I mean like watching the reactions from the various leftist youtubers I dabble in
Put out trash for garbage man tomorrow I usually put it out every other week bc I don't accumulate a lot by myself but I threw out some nasty expired milk the other day and don't want it stinking up my bin in the hot sun
Watched the new loona trailer w miss lip and was like
Tumblr media
Put clean sheets and stuff back on my bed and folded clothes. just folded! Not put away fuck that
Went and got mail and got some ad and threw it away. shouldve got my city bill by now wtf
Wiped down my bathroom counter (and why that's relevant will be clear in due time friend)
Lil TMI incoming but I put in my diva cup it's my second period using it so I'm still in the learning process
Got nakey, put on spotify and took a shower
Got dressed after, put up my hair, washed my hands and cleaned my ears as too get ready for the ritual to come...
Sooo uuuh I pierced both my ears w those disposable kits like I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW bad idea o mine but here I am sitting writing this in the aftermath what's done is done
So then I started preparing dinner while thinking hmmm earlobe be throbbing a lil but I am just so giddy and excited about it
This is my 2nd time making salmon in the oven and Its actually surprising how easy it is..I love salmon

I watch more YouTube then get to this point where I feel like I did a lot today and need to revel in the little things a bit and type it all out lmao I never make posts on here then I go and do this shit idk I think today was one of those days where I felt unfiltered like when youre sleep deprived or something but I really would like to post on Tumblr more definitely not to the extent I've shown here but yeah
Now I'm probably going to get ready for bed and watch shit on my iPad until I decide it's bedtime since my shift starts at 5am tomorrow

I only saw Seth’s part from the H3 podcast. What was scotty’s response? Is David taking legal action? Tbh I can’t look at David the same anymore (not just about the Seth stuff). He was exposed for blatantly saying the n word in vines and other racist stuff and he never addressed it, even when Liza apologized.
tw// sexual assault
tbh I’ve only seen clips so I don’t claim to have the whole story, but Scott made a video basically saying that Jason & David are the sweetest ppl in the world & that Seth is lying (there’s more but I’m not typing it all so I suggest watching the video) anyway, the thing is Seth isn’t lying about being sexually assaulted... like... it’s literally on camera???? & it was discussed on the views podcast and ppl are like “well, he did interviews & said it was fine” and I just want to say that sounds so imbecilic. Do ppl not understand that a lot of ppl don’t understand that they’ve been sexually assaulted until they go to therapy or are told by someone else? also, (not to bring race into it, but to bring race into it) Seth was the new guy & he was the only black person in the videos, so it is highly probable that he felt like damn, I have to do this so I’m not “that guy” who comes in & fucks up the dynamic. & obviously, he loves clout, so I could see him doing whatever for clout. He’s also in the wrong 100%. Revenge porn is fucked up, but so is Jason squeezing his ass and initiating a French kiss.... weird.
Also, about his other allegations that he hasn’t addressed, it’s honestly so messed up. I like David & I’ve always thought he was such a caring person (which I still think he is), but I think he fucks himself over by not addressing things especially when they have to do with racial tension. I know his mindset is probably “ppl are gonna make fun of you for making an apology video so why do it” but apologizing + changing your actions is the best combo I would say.

I watched the h3 podcast so you don't have to:
They talked about/acknowledged:
- the title? (Idk about that cuz this is when I joined the podcast..this might have been a joke lol)
- him probably reading the whole article..
- him "owning up big time"
- that his anger is misplaced and should be towards David instead..
- they appreciate him donating money (and they will donate 10.000 to the same organisation.. rain? Idk if this is spelled right)
- they believe him being a good guy.
And in the end Ethan said he likes Jeff and thinks he did the right thing (by deleting his old apology and doing a new one..)..they quickly mentioned the accident but they didn't really talk about it.. he even liked Jeffs video.. which is good I guess? lol..
Oh and btw.. the comments seem.. Nice as well? At least most of them? And what I saw..

We’ll Grow Stronger Making Room and Sharing Space: 2019 In Review
It’s the end of the year and the end of the decade (more on the latter in this post). It’s the time for me to reflect on the year and think too much about lists. Some things will never change.
Music I Worked On This Year
Jeff Schaller and the Long Way Home - “Younger Years” (guitar, recording, mixing, mastering)
Apocalypse Quest - Paradoxes (mixing, mastering)
Sloth Hands - Vacation’s Over (mastering)
Apocalypse Quest - “Mediocre Boys” (recording, mixing, mastering)
Flora Self - “Didn’t See It Coming” (bass, recording, mixing, mastering)
Pelafina - “Blue and Gold” (guitar)
Apocalypse Quest - “CEO Blood” (recording, mixing, mastering)
Apocalypse Quest - ERBA (recording, mixing, mastering)
My Favorite Albums of 2019
I’ve had a one-sentence review of my number one album, Breakup Season by Future Teens, in my head for a few months: If I had heard this when I was seventeen, I might have been a better person. That sounds hyperbolic, but I haven’t been able to shake the idea. I know I could have used this album as a teenager. It’s so honest and introspective about heartbreak and sadness and dealing with those emotions in healthy ways. I’m so happy that a band like Future Teens exists. I’m jealous of the kid that hears Breakup Season this year and connects to it like I connected to The Upsides. Future Teens will be that kid’s first favorite band, the soundtrack to their formative years, their inspirations and role models. I keep likening this album to The Upsides, probably the single most influential album on my past ten years. It feels like a torch-passing at the end of the decade, and it’s all the more apt because I saw Future Teens open for the Wonder Years in October.
The rest of my list feels as varied as my year, spanning genre and scope from emo debuts to the biggest pop artist in the world. As always, I think there’s a lot to love on this list, so pick something and give it a spin.
Future Teens - Breakup Season
Charly Bliss - Young Enough
Pedro the Lion - Phoenix
The Menzingers - Hello Exile
The Mountain Goats - In League With Dragons
Jimmy Eat World - Surviving
Taylor Swift - Lover
Origami Angel - Somewhere City
The Get Up Kids - Problems
Telethon - Hard Pop
Proper. - I Spent the Winter Writing Songs About Getting Better
Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties - Routine Maintenance
Ceres - We Are a Team
Oso Oso - Basking In the Glow
Better Oblivion Community Center - Better Oblivion Community Center
The Dangerous Summer - Mother Nature
Somos - Prison On a Hill
Dave Hause - Kick
American Football - LP3
Bruce Springsteen - Western Stars
Junius Paul - Ism
The Maine - You Are OK
Nervus - Tough Crowd
Great Grandpa - Four of Arrows
Vampire Weekend - Father of the Bride
My Favorite EPs of 2019
Better Love - All I Ever Wanted Is To Be Where You Are
Mineral - One Day When We Are Young
Ruston Kelly - Dirt Emo, Volume 1
Rat Tally - When You Wake Up
Bosley Jr - No More
My Favorite Songs of 2019
Here’s a playlist on Apple Music and Spotify of songs I loved this year. It’s vaguely in order (at least the top ten or so).
My Favorite Shows of 2019
I went to 63 shows this year, 35 of which I played. Here were my favorites. These were all great, but the John K. Samson show is a contender for my all-time favorite performance. He doesn’t tour much, so make it a priority to see him if you have the chance.
John K. Samson and Christine Fellows - 11/23 at Beat Kitchen
The Wonder Years, Future Teens - 10/20 at Metro
Ruston Kelly - 11/1 at Thalia Hall
Mineral - 1/24 at Lincoln Hall
Pedro the Lion - 5/18 at The Castle Theater
Jacob Sigman, Jetty Bones - 3/29 at Beat Kitchen
The Sidekicks, Adult Mom - 7/7 at Subterranean
Spanish Love Songs - 5/19 at Cobra Lounge
Los Campesinos! - 7/6 at West Fest
We Were Promised Jetpacks - 7/13 at Bottom Lounge
My Favorite Podcasts of 2019
Two Headed Girl is the best new podcast I listened to this year. It’s a chronicle of gender dysphoria, transitioning, and marriage. Hosts Alex and Matthew Cox are unflinching in their honesty with each other about their lives, health, and feelings. It’s kind of amazing that they recorded all of this and are willing to share such a personal journey with the world.
Elsewhere in the podcast world, two of my favorite long-running podcasts hit new highs in 2019. On episode 102 of Reconcilable Differences, “Preparing the Way,” John Siracusa buys a refrigerator. The two-hour chronicle of this harrowing adventure is everything I love about the podcast format. And The Watch, Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald’s twice weekly talk about movies and TV, transitioned from purely critique to a behind the scenes look at making a TV show as Andy called in from the set and editing room of his upcoming show, Briarpatch.
Finally, I’ll recommend Michael Lewis’s Against the Rules, a meticulously researched exploration of societal rules and the people who make and enforce them. Unlike the long-running conversational shows I typically like, the tight format and high production value make Against the Rules feel more like an audio book.
My Favorite Books of 2019
As usual, I read very few new releases this year, but the few I did read were fantastic: Hanif Abdurraqib’s latest poetry collection, A Fortune For Your Disaster, Mark Z. Danielewski’s children’s book for all ages, The Little Blue Kite, and Mischa Pearlman’s One Day When We Are Young, a retrospective on the emo band Mineral and a companion piece to their first new music in over twenty years.
The best book I read this year, regardless of release date, was The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
My Favorite Television of 2019
I started 2019 with the vague goal of “keeping up” with TV, but I quickly realized that’s impossible. There’s just too much great TV. With that in mind, I just want to highlight a few of my favorite shows of the year, all remarkable for very different reasons, which also happen to be short and digestible.
Fleabag - Season 2
A tour de force of emotion and energy, every episode left me thinking that writer / producer / star Phoebe Waller-Bridge might be the most talented person alive.
Watchmen
Every frame of this show is immaculate. I’m a longtime defender of the endings of Lost and The Leftovers so I had confidence in Damon Lindelof and his team to pull this sequel/remix, and my expectations were still far exceeded.
When They See Us
Ava Duvernay’s docu-drama about the Central Park Five is a heart-wrenching examination of injustice. The opening sequence alone is worth the price of a Netflix subscription.
Chernobyl
A different kind of bleak docu-drama, set on the opposite side of the world as When They See Us, Chernobyl is equal parts moving, gruesome, frustrating, and deeply sad.
And I can’t leave the TV section without giving a shout to Baby Yoda on The Mandalorian, constant cause of delighted squeals (both Liesi’s and mine) every time he’s on screen.
My Favorite Movies of 2019
As always, I'm very behind on movies at the end of year, but Knives Out is a masterpiece. 1. Knives Out 2. Marriage Story 3. The Irishman 4. Booksmart 5. Midsommar 6. The Report 7. Toy Story 4 8. Us 9. Dolemite Is My Name 10. High Life
Next Year
I haven’t made a formal new year’s resolution in quite a few years, but I do have some plans for 2020.
Pelafina will be releasing a new EP in the next couple months. More on that very soon.
The Long Way Home are deep in the process of recording our next album. That will hopefully be out later in the spring.
I didn’t make a single blog post this year, and I want to change that. I don’t have a clear structure in mind, but I just want to write more.
I’m going to listen to more jazz.

✨ very first post! ✨
Hey anyone that's out there, I'm new to not only the Arcana fandom but writing fan fictions as well. I guess I'd like to make an announcement post or something? I just want to say more about myself and let you all know that I'm writing a lil fluff on Julian so anyone who does see it can kinda just see what my writing is like. Its coming out soon, so keep an eye out! I'm gonna Include some things about myself down below if anyone wants to get to know me, I'd love to make a few friends. 😊
First off, I live in the north west United States, I'm going to be a junior in high school in a few months, and I am locally grown and sourced from a pretty simple, medium-sized town. Also, I’m a girl and bi-curious. I'm creative, independent, stubborn and I almost never think before I act. I love my four doggies with all my heart and I like being around like minded people and being nice. uwu.
some hobbies of mine are reading and writing, listening to music, thrifting (Is shopping a hobby?), playing music, hiking/camping, looking at runway shows or discussing fashion, and painting, doodling, or making collages/edits. My favorite subjects in school are French, Language Arts, History, Biology and Sociology. (Also, I am fluent in Spanish and English and I am learning French :)
Some other things I’m into are: Skyrim, The Sims 4, Minecraft, and cryptids/the supernatural. Pretty lame. B-)
I like watching YouTube a lot, some youtubers I really like are:
-Sarah Baska, Pewdiepie, H3's podcast, Tiny Meat Gang (Cody Ko & Noel Miller), Haley Pham, bestdressed (aka Ashley), HauteLeMode, Drew Phillips, Enjajaja, Josiah & all those other hoes and Stephanie Soo :)
As you can probably tell music is a HUgE part of me and I love it. When I was in Jr. High I was in band and played percussion. I now play electric & acoustic guitar, bass, ukulele, I know my way around a drumset and every other tiny percussion instrument. Some artists I listen to frequently are:
-The Smiths, The Clash, Christian Leave, Roy Blaire, Clairo, Twenty One Pilots (mostly their old stuff tho), Gorillaz, Videoclub, bedroom, The Clash, Flatsound, Rex Orange County, La Femme, Mac Demarco, and a ton more but, alas, we have limited time.
Backtracking a bit, in my description I said that Abigail is my pen name (nom de plum) and I just want to remain sort of anonymous. I use the name Abigail in games cos I don't really particularly like mine and the people who go to my school suck and I am a coward so if anyone finds this I am going to go run away and turn into Muriel.
Now, I'm not sure why but I’m gonna describe myself now... sooooooo
I'm pretty petite, standing at, like, 5'1" on a good day. I have short dark brown, wavy hair that sits over my shoulders and I wear glasses and a nose ring!
My style is just anything sort of vintage or simple & cute. I'm either wearing a plaid pencil-ish mini skirt, high waisted denim shorts, or one of my many. MANY. high waisted, baggy mom-ish style jeans/pants. I usually pair my bottoms with cute and small little lace, silk, or floral tops.
Alright, I hope this entertained someone for a little. Thank you for reading, even if you just skimmed or sumn, I appreciate it. I’d love to make friends or just meet new people. See ya around! <3

Week One - Artist - H3 Podcast & The Viewer's Voice
The H3 Podcast is run by Ethan Klein, a youtube who has steadily grown his crew by bringing in more talent to help him run the show. His content ranges from important political topics to interviews, to group activities and interesting internet finds. Their goals currently are to host more interviews and to find new topics of discussion as they want to create as much interesting content as possible. I perceive them as someone who is constantly wanting to break boundaries and find new ways to express their creative ideas. Nick and Ethan are both people who want to express their opinions in ways they see fit, which is totally valid in my opinion. The H3 Podcast has more direction, planned segments, and kind of a professional aura. Ethan is a super authentic person, I also feel like I know him as a friend in some ways. He shares a lot about his family, his mental health struggles, and other important things that might happen in his general life. They perform in the way that they prepare skits sometimes, but their show is live, so whatever happens, happens.
The Viewer's Voice is run by a single man, named Nick Snider. Compared to the H3 Podcast, I wouldn't be able to say Nick has any specific goals, show-wise. He aims to express his opinion concerning makeup or YouTube drama. He shares a lot of his life with us viewers, so we know he's planning to build a house with his fiancee. They just got two puppies and it's always so nice to see them both! I perceive Nick as a kind soul with a strong opinion. It's pretty common nowadays for people to want to fight against the backlash that comes with being a creator where their opinions are often challenged. I think it's super valid for them to defend their own opinions, so I appreciate how real Nick can be with his audience. He shares this aspect with H3 as well! The topics Nick covers are more 'YouTube-centric'. There are a lot of tea channels and somehow it seems like everyone on Youtube seems to know each other in some way, shape, or form. He's super authentic with us, and I feel like I know him, similar maybe to a co-worker. He's expressed important things in his life to us, like the death of his mother. We watched him go through a rough period of his life, so I'm happy to continue watching him find himself again. I couldn't say he's overly performative in any way, nothing ever seems like it's over-the-top or fake.
I think if I were going to start a YouTube channel I'd choose the H3 Podcast as more of a role model. Their focus and goals align with what I would like to present to an audience, in terms of talking about specific topics for an extended amount of time. It would be similar as I would use the podcast format. But my focus would be geared more toward my personal interests, like tarot or k-pop. My goals would be to express my opinions on these topics and more, to give another point of view that I think a lot of people would agree with.

I was watching H3′s newest podcast last night and heard of the news regarding Hila’s father. As Ethan was explaining what had happened and he began to cry which made me cry as well. I feel terrible for had happened and I hope Hila and her family are doing okay. I know how hard it is to lose someone to cancer, especially a parent. It takes a long time to finally be at peace with the fact and to get to a point in your life where you can look back on memories and laugh or smile about them rather than cry.
RIP Hila’s Father.

Copyright and Fair Use on YouTube
If you watch YouTube then you have probably heard some of your favorite creators talk about their videos getting taken down for fair use and copyright. In this blog post I want to talk about what should be fair and what shouldn't. Heres what I thing is fair. If a podcaster does a 3 hour show and they show 10 seconds of a song they should not get a strike on their YouTube channel. I don’t think it's fair for a copyright holder to take all the revenue on a 3 hour episode just because your song or video was shown for less than a minute. For example lets say there is a podcast about sports and the episode is 2 and a half hours long and they show a 40 second play from an NFL game while reacting to it. That should be fair use. I don't think the NFL should be allowed to take down a nearly 3 hour episode just because they showed 40 seconds of a play. Now if there was a show on youtube that was showing NFL games and barely commenting during it then that should 100% go down as a copyright strike.
If someone uploads a video reacting to a boxing match, but they are pausing it a lot and reacting to it giving feedback I believe that should be fair use and they should not get in trouble. On the other hand if someone just uploads a whole boxing match with their camera in the corner barely reacting and pausing it then that should be copyright. It seems clear and easy to understand, but we are seeing a lot of people get in trouble over stuff like this. Recently there was a boxing match between Ben Askren And Jake Paul and the YouTube channel H3 Podcast reacted to a 1 minute clip during their 3 hour podcast. The company Triller who put on the fight filed a lawsuit for copyright. Now this is one of the examples that i don't understand. How could you be sued for reacting to a 1 minute clip and pausing it frequently and giving commentary? That should be under fair use and the lawsuit should just be thrown out. We are in the new age of social media and copyright in the digital age is just going to keep on changing. I think they need to come up with clearer copyright rules as far as art and content on the internet goes. Were seeing things that should clearly be classified under fair use turn into lawsuits and I think it needs to be more clear.

4 Overlooked Ways to Increase Your Website's Search Engine Rankings
Tumblr media
Publishing long-form content, building backlinks, optimizing your site speed and title tags, and so on — you’re aware of the fundamental best practices. While implementing these search engine optimization (SEO) techniques is all fine and dandy, all your competitors are doing the same.
So when it comes to outranking your competitors on Google, you don’t have an upper hand over your competition. Or, do you?
You see, there are some lesser-used tactics that you can leverage to accelerate the process of ranking your website at the top of Google SERPs. And most, if not all, of your competitors would likely be oblivious to these techniques.
Here are four such lesser-known yet well-founded ways to boost your website’s search engine rankings.
1. Optimize Content for Featured Snippets and “People Also Ask”
While attaining the very first spot on Google SERPs is a herculean task, what if you can attain a spot above the first one (the “zeroth” position) with relatively lesser amounts of effort? This so-called “position zero” or featured snippet shows up as a little box that contains the exact answer to the search query, typically in a question format.
The featured snippet is located above the first organic search result, which makes it a great place to be.
Tumblr media
And usually, right below the snippet lies the “People Also Ask” (PAA) section that contains the most frequently asked user questions related to that search query. Google provides answers to these questions by extracting relevant bits of content from various websites, with a link (on the title) at the bottom of the answer.
Tumblr media
While typically towards the top, the PAA section can also be located between two positions (say, fifth and sixth) or at the bottom of the page. Regardless, it is on the first page of SERPs which makes it important for SEO.
Most search marketing experts are cognizant of the value of featured snippets and PAA, but few try to capitalize on them. In a nutshell, here’s how you can take advantage of this frequently untapped opportunity to get on the first page of Google:
Perform thorough keyword research and try to answer all question-type search queries in your content.
Create long-form (comprehensive) content and cover all long-tail keywords.
In your answers, aim for the optimal word count (featured snippets ordinarily range from 40-50 words).
Build an FAQ section on your blog or website.
Besides, optimizing your content for featured snippets and PAA also helps you rank for mobile voice searches (which 27% of the global online population is using), as voice searches are mostly done in a question-like format.
2. Ensure Website Accessibility
Simply put, an accessible website is one that accommodates all visitors on all devices no matter the physical or mental ability of the user.
And whether you like it or not, having an accessible website is mandatory. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) applies to digital properties too, which means your website must be readily usable by visitors with disabilities (such as the visually impaired).
However, website accessibility is important not just to avoid ADA lawsuits but to improve your search rankings and reach new audiences.
With an estimated 26.9 million adult Americans claiming that they either have trouble seeing or are unable to see at all, it’s likely that a substantial chunk of your target audience is being shunned from doing business with you if you’re not having an accessible website.
Now, there’s a lot you can do yourself to improve your site’s accessibility:
Make sure there’s adequate color contrast on every page of your website.
Write an alt text for each image.
Include closed captions for videos.
Make your site keyboard-friendly.
Write detailed anchor texts for hyperlinks.
Design a logical content hierarchy (using subheadings H2, H3, and so on).
Add descriptive labels to form elements.
Publish an accessibility statement declaring your website’s target level of accessibility.
To ensure the highest level of accessibility and full ADA compliance, consider using a web accessibility platform that’s capable of scanning your entire website and making all elements compliant with the WCAG 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) published by the World Wide Web consortium.
Better accessibility translates to better user experience (UX) for everyone, and more credibility as a business — things that Google takes very seriously when ranking a website. Thus, if your website is accessible, it indirectly leads to better rankings on Google.
3. Optimize for Image Search
Most websites striving to achieve first-page rankings are laser-focused on ranking in the “All” tab. What they don’t realize is that there’s a lot of SEO potential in adjacent tabs such as “Images” as well, and ranking here translates to better rankings in the “All” tab.
Tumblr media
In fact, the trend of visual searches is booming as we speak — 62% of Generation Z and Millennial consumers want visual search capabilities, more than any other new technology.
What’s more, in early 2018, Google Images accounted for roughly 22.6% of all internet searches, which means capturing this share of searches enables you to win a huge chunk of your audience.
The best part is that ranking for image searches is comparatively easy. Here are some best practices to follow when using images on your website:
Upload high-quality unique images instead of humdrum stock photos that everyone’s using.
Compress all images using a tool like TinyPNG to boost your site speed while maintaining quality.
Have a descriptive image file name to help the search engine crawlers better understand it.
Write a descriptive alt text to improve usability and further assist the search crawlers.
Add images to your sitemap so the search bots can easily crawl and index your images.
Create image structured data so Google displays your images as rich results in the “All” tab.
Furthermore, it’s a great idea to invest in videos for marketing your business. However, creating quality videos does require substantial time, effort, and money. If you wish to leverage video for better rankings and brand visibility without investing too much, consider these video formats:
Screencast tutorials and presentations
Behind-the-scenes of your business
Interviews with industry experts
Client testimonials
Seeing just how effective video is in digital marketing and how people are craving more and more video content today, it makes sense to start creating video content for your business as early as you can.
While on the subject of images and videos…
4. Repurpose Content Into Multiple Formats
It’s no news that blogging and content marketing is key to ranking your business on Google. But your competitors likely aren’t going above and beyond to reuse the same piece of text-based content in different formats so as to extract the most marketing juice out of it.
That’s what content repurposing is — recycling your existing content into different formats such as infographics, videos, ebooks, podcasts, presentations, etc. — in order to reach new audiences while giving Google more stuff to crawl and index.
For example, it is possible that a substantial portion of your target audience prefers watching videos over reading blog posts. Consequently, if you convert your blog posts into quick vlogs, you may be able to garner the attention of that audience segment.
Likewise, you can turn individual blog posts into infographics for better shareability, or collate posts on a single subject into a downloadable ebook.
Besides improving the usability of your content, repurposing enables you to rank for the same content for different search queries, not just on Google but also on social media platforms such as Pinterest for infographics, Instagram for photos, LinkedIn for presentations, YouTube (the second most popular search engine) for videos, and so on.
Thus, the search engine visibility of your content (and thus, your website) goes up dramatically as there’s more content to be crawled and indexed by the bots.
Final Thoughts
The tactics discussed above are often unheeded by even the most experienced search marketing professionals, which means your business can certainly gain an edge provided you implement these alongside the fundamental SEO best practices.
