Not this again. I cannot deal with this, it seems like ever since I set this mailbox up I’ve just gotten more and more problems with ore snatcher copycats. I don’t know why you’ve chosen to take their side rather than, you know, the side of your partner’s husband, but I’ve gotten a bit of insight into the situation.

A little birdie told me that those watcher fellows may be involved.

Now, I’m not in those death games. Believe me, I’d dominate them if I did, but I’ve not been invited. But I know there are some watchers who stay around Hermitcraft and look into what we do…

Oh my goodness, you're back! It's been a lil while, and I honestly find it a little weird that we haven't gotten any poll blogs popping up since then (or maybe we did, and I just missed them... but I hope that ain't the case). Well... considering all the messes that went down these last couple months, I can't say I'm surprised. But thankfully, things have quieted down recently, so I'm more than happy to welcome you back!

As for the question, I usually have long elaborate answers with deep explanations, but in this case, I really don't. It's the second option. Partially because of Videocult is a little secretive with their teasers, and everything is kept relatively under the hood (I mean, you can absolutely find them, but they aren't just plastered everywhere the way the Downpour teasers were). But also, RW related YouTube recommendations have been getting rarer and rarer for me, for some reason. Balagaga's Watcher teaser coverings do pop up here and there, and I do check on them occasionally. (They're pretty great btw. If you're looking for a channel that does consistent updates on Watcher stuff, then go there) But I don't spend every day continuously refreshing his channel, and checking through all the Discord channels where the Watcher theory-crafting is happening. So yeah, I know a couple things, but I'm not super well informed. And considering the surprisingly low numbers I've generally seen under all the Watcher teaser stuff, it doesn't surprise me that many others are also in this position. You really gotta put in the effort to keep up with this stuff.

@thunder-wolf64 is working on an AU in which one of Arti's pups (the green one, here named Sizzling Waters) gets adopted by scavs, and later reunites with his, erm, mentally unstable mom. If you are a reader who wants to see an AU with evil Arti, you will certainly enjoy Thunder's creations.

@threestarsaboveclouds is an iterator ask-blog that belongs to @delta-orionis, their posts are LONG and full of lore and I am honestly in awe people like Delta give so much to the RW fandom - it's free, high quality entertainment done purely for hobby. I have a lot of respect for their work. Besides, TSAC's color palette is very striking, which is what has initially drawn me to this AU.

@ask-the-colony-tree-siblings is @mushroominaforest's ask blog, and in this AU Arti and Hunter are siblings! Also, Mushroom's art style is a treat and immediately recognizable and I'm happy when i see it pop up in RW tag.

@firecracker-pup is run by @batnip; in a way it's a sibling-askblog to mine because both of our AUs center around the reinterpretation of Artificer's blue pup.

Honorable mentions:

@spotsupstuff's takes on RW lore and all their work surrounding iterators (my biggest blind spot) had my jaw drop to the ground and roll off into the seas - it's brilliant. I kid you not when I say I have +20 tabs open right now waiting there so I can binge-read Spot's posts once I get a free evening. There's so much of it... and I am ready to feast.

@opashoo has been working on a conlang for slugcats that I am 100% going to use in my AU. If you want to see amazing RW animations, art, and lore discussions, please follow her!

I'll admit, I feel like a lot of ask-blogs have died in the last 6 months? A handful of artists that were considered big - left the fandom. I'm not quite sure why that happened, but I'm hoping that the Watcher DLC brings some of them back (maybe).

STORY OVERVIEW

The story kicks off with the collapse of Moon, who tips over and takes Pebbles down with her when she collapses.

With both Iterators destroyed, the facility grounds begin to freeze over, and all life struggles to survive.

The Rot, the early in development, and a feast of Neuronflies to sustain so little of it, it develops enough awareness to realize if it does not adapt, it will die. And so it does, integrating the DNA of whatever it eats into itself, to gain the power to replicate their abilities.

NSH and SRS create a few messengers to begin attempts at repairing Moon and Pebbles, meanwhile a Colony of wild slugcats begins reverse-engineering the frozen technology to build up their Colony and survive the eternal winter...

After the group of Messengers and their new friends get well acquainted with the Colony, and fully move in and integrate, the mission to repair the Iterators finds itself with a lot of new members- not just for NSH and SRS, but to put an end to the eternal winter. However, a certain slugcat with flesh writhing with Rot aims to stand in their way, and to strike them down...

CHARACTERS

SURVIVOR

Older sibling of Monk and current member of the Colony. Slugcat that embarks on frequent expeditions with their little sibling, to protect them while they're doing their research. A jack of all trades, not quite a master at any one thing, but pretty good at most talents- and thus, the best at surviving in the wasteland on their lonesome.

MONK

A very sweet and kind Slugcat with a talent for botanical research and animal taming. Unfortunately, she isn't allowed to go study plantlife out in the wild due to chronic iron deficiency, so she's required to always have Survivor accompany her when on expeditions. It annoys her slightly, but since it's her dear sibling, she's willing to put up with it.

GOURMAND

Former top crafter of the Colony and current head chef. Assistant to Artificer and inventor who's interested in researching Iterator technology and how to use it to better the lives of everyone in the Colony. Kind and sweet, though downright ruthless when it comes to combat against opponents.

NIGHTCAT

Formerly known as the Watcher, Nightcat used to be a scout for the Colony, keeping watch for threats and scouting out new territory thanks to their unique ability to turn nearly invisible... however, an incident with a flashbang left them permanently blinded, hence the name change. Quiet, shy, and now very paranoid and timid due to their lost ability to see.

HUNTER

Created by NSH to deliver Slag Keys to Moon (and also Pebbles), they were created hastily and as such got sick with Rot. While on their journey they encountered Artificer and Spearmaster, and joined up with them to make the journey less harrowing. After a return to NSH a prototype Rot hotfix was developed, integrating the Rot into Hunter's systems and granting them some new abilities, as well as removing the timer on their life.

SPEARMASTER

Created by SRS as a messenger, their return to their creator was interrupted by the collapse of both Moon and Pebbles. Upon their return they reported this, and were sent back out after a short break on a mission to repair the twin Iterators, encountering some new allies along the way.

ARTIFICER

Created by SRS as a sibling to Spearmaster, they have the ability to produce flames and explosions from their tail holes. Much more unhinged and wild than their purple sibling, they're a lot more reckless and loud. They were also taught about how Iterators function and how to fix them by SRS. Not pictured, but they have a prosthetic leg.

RIVULET

Originally created by Moon as a personal companion, they suffered brain damage and other internal injuries when she collapsed. With no memories and a tendency to randomly pass out, they brave this new world to find friends and a purpose, eventually finding exactly that in Spearmaster's group and eventually the Colony.

SAINT

The Triple Affirmative created by SOS, or an attempt at it anyway. While not attuned to the Void, they do produce a much weaker version of Void Fluid in their blood, which can be focused in their mechanical arm to fire off blasts of energy. While mostly hidden by fur, they have 3 extra eyes on their forehead.

INV?

A sample of Rot that was experimented on in the creation of Hunter's Rot Hotfix, granting it sentience and an altered appearance. It's now a companion that joins the main cast on their adventures.

ORIGINAL CHARACTERS

PIKE

Eventual child of Rivulet and Spearmaster. Doesn't exist quiiiite yet, but hopefully they'll be here soon.

ROTTEN BLADEMASTER

The main antagonist, a slugcat specializing in blade weaponry that was infected by the Rot. The Rot has overtaken them, and become sentient, hellbent on ensuring its own survival- by exterminating all life that could be a threat to it.

I also have my own au related to rain world, and now I will tell you a lot of it. However, I will not mention one part of the information, since my Persians themselves will be able to answer it in the form of an aska (so do not hesitate to write me messages with your questions about my au :)), and I will not be able to mention other information since I am currently writing fan fiction on a Russian platform called "Ficbook.net " by This week, and it's not finished yet. The plot in brief:The developers have already created many different mini-worlds called "campaigns" and placed slugs with different histories, chaoacters and goals for life there. But that wasn't enough for the gods. They became bored with ordinary worlds that follow some kind of rules. Therefore, they hastily created the "Enota campaign" and created almost simultaneously one of their most important and dominant persons in SW — Enota and Fear (he was not called that before, so I will call Whity in this period of time, BUT this is not the canonical name of this character, but only a temporary code name)). They were both immediately told that they existed in a fictional world and that they were created only so that both poor slugs would suffer. And Enota was also given out how pathetic and insignificant he was, and then they threw both slugs into their world. An important clarification: Whity and Enot had not seen each other before, the developers created them separately from all the others so that they would not see each other inadvertently.

Enot did not know how to survive in his world, which is why he spent a lot of effort to survive his first cycle. All this was observed by Whity, which in fact is essentially the soul of Enot, which is imprisoned in his consciousness, into which Enot himself can penetrate only when he is asleep. And so, in a dream, the slugs met and became friends. The developers also informed him about their nature when creating Whity, and also said that if Enot commits at least one sin, it will affect his soul, that is, on Whity itself. He will be in terrible pain and constantly writhing in pain. And knowing all this information from the developers, Whity asked his friend not to commit any sins. The soul was terribly paranoid and did not allow Enot to enter normally and step in. He even forbade slug to pick up a spear in principle, and as a result, to fight in order to banal self-defense.

Enot did not know how to survive in his world, which is why he spent a lot of effort to survive his first cycle. All this was observed by Whity, which in fact is essentially the soul of Enot, which is imprisoned in his consciousness, into which Enot himself can penetrate only when he is asleep. No matter how hard Enot tried to rid his friend of these sins, there were more and more of them, and at the same time the pain from these sins only became stronger and more unbearable. At this point, a Feeling of Fault appears in the plot. This character is metaphorical, we can say that he does not exist in reality, he is needed so that one can understand the thoughts and feelings of one of the characters, in our case, Enot. That is, it means that only Enot can see Feeling of Fault and talk to him. Because of the fractures in the relationship with Whity, Feeling of Fault began to tell Enot that he was still a loser and a weakling, which only added more oil to the fire and made the whole situation only worse. At some point, a real scandal broke out between Enot and Whity during which they stopped being friends. After that, after a while, Whity was completely consumed by sins, and Enot's Feeling of Fault became especially strong during this period of time. Enot's consciousness, in order to protect him, sharpened Feeling of Fault and began to gradually erase all painful memories associated with Whity. At some point, he completely forgot about his former friend and can be said to have started life with a clean slate. And it would seem that this is a good thing, now Enot has become completely free from the prohibitions of his former friend, and even now no Feeling of Fault will bother him, but... The thirst for blood still remained in him. At first, Enot tried to suppress her and he killed especially only scavengers, because they had caused him too much pain in the past, but over time, Enot's moral compass completely erased and he began killing everyone indiscriminately in rather cruel ways, eager to hear the screams of his victims and taste their torn flesh and meat. Enot-maniac was very strong because he faced enemies every cycle and learned to defeat them. He became so strong that the scavengers, realizing that they could not resist this psychopath in any way, began to hide in secret bunkers underground without proper food, heat and much more. Enot-maniac destroyed the lives of many creatures, and those who miraculously survived were left with many mental injuries. The most revealing of them will be my scavenger character named Cold-blooded Wind. As a child, an Enot-maniac tore off his eye, but he was able to escape, however, this incident affected not only physically, but also mentally (you can learn the details of the Wind's background from ask. Believe me, everything is much worse there than you think. This is the third most tragic character in SW)

He began to wish for it as soon as the developers abandoned him to his fate. What's the point of killing everyone and everything like that? He had tried all possible methods of murder on his victims anyway, everyone had long ago realized that Enota was a maniac worth being afraid of... A small piece of forgotten memories was able to remind Enot-maniac of the void sea, which Whity once told him about and he headed to it in order to finally find his long-awaited peace. But plunging into it, Enot found himself in a dating simulator. He spent a lot of time in it, and during this time, Enot, communicating with other slugs and not killing anyone, realized that he was wrong. That killing is not an option and that he wants to find friends! That's just how to do it if you can't get out of dating sim? But who said that it is ABSOLUTELY impossible to get out of dms? Remembering what kind of drug addiction an Enot egg could create in a dating simulator, he threw it at one of the buttons in this space and it was swallowed up by a singularity. Then the walls cracked and behind them was the code of all slug campaigns, as well as the code of the dms itself, which was also swallowed up by this black hole. After that, this hole in space and time turned into a portal and sucked Enot into it.He found himself back in his campaign, but now some of the chips from dms are now working in his world (that is, the egg can now create fierce nonsense and drug addiction here if desired), as well as slugs from its campaigns appeared in different parts of his world. The Raccoon has a new chance to start this life from scratch, make friends and find his happiness by ascending into the void sea. First of all, he changed his name to Eve, since the name Raccoon was now associated with his dark past. After meeting the Monk, he realized that there were probably a lot of such popadans in his world, so Inv decides to create his own gang called the "VC Gang" (VC - Void Cats). At the moment, this gang consists of Monk, Survivor, Hunter, Gourmet, their tamed red lizard and Inv himself, who is the leader here.On the way of our friends, there will be many obstacles that will mainly occur due to Fear (as Inv called Whity when they met again), which, due to sins, received quite a lot of power and authority. In order to put obstacles to slugs, he sends a black parasite blob into the real world, which infects a creature nearby that is afraid of Inv, which means that he cannot infect the same Inv friends, because slugcat is obviously not afraid of them. However, other obstacles will be encountered due to Inv's dark past, which he tries to hide from everyone. Scavengers still remember the time when the Enot Maniac raged in their world, and this will have its consequences...

Hello everyone, and welcome!

We are the denizens of the wondrous world we all know and love. And we have all gathered here to speak with you! Got anything you desire to say, ask, or send our way? Do it anytime you wish, and we shall respond - through our voices! - We are voice acting enthusiasts, some of whom, you may have already heard in some Rain World fan projects. You can send anything at a character - images, art, questions, ideas, videos, whatever you wish! And the character shall react - just like in any other askblog. But the difference is not just that we use voiceovers to answer (instead of art), but that the process is fully collaborative. As the VAs of the characters all have full creative control over what they say, instead of following the standard practice of one person writing/deciding everything.

Important things to note (please read before submitting):

Watcher spoilers are allowed, but will be tagged appropriately, mainly to account for the heavily delayed console release. (The creatures/characters of the DLC are also available to be played by VAs, though none of them have been taken yet. This post will be updated with spoiler tags if/when that happens)

When you send us something, make it abundantly clear which character you're addressing. You're allowed to address multiple, or even the entire cast.

NSFW submissions are not allowed. Mildly suggestive ones are fine, but they will not get a response, if the character you're addressing has a minor as its VA, or an adult that would be uncomfortable with it.

This project is fully non-canon. VAs are allowed to use headcanons and personal interpretations when answering. It's also not really meant to be serious, so feel free to send us silly stuff :3

You should only submit things for characters that actually have VAs, as you wouldn't be able to get a response otherwise.

The person primarily running this project and blog is me, @fadebolt. If you wish to voice act a character yourself, shoot me a DM, either here, or in Discord (my name is also 'fadebolt' there, and I'm in the main RW server, so finding me should be easy). There's absolutely no limit with the characters you could ask to VA. Slugcats (including Nightcat, as a separate character from Watcher), iterators, ancients, echoes, scavengers, any other species... they're all available! We also aren't limiting ourselves to just the base game. Characters from Downpour, characters from mods, OCs, and non-canon characters in general are also available (though if you're planning to VA a character owned by someone else, then make sure to consult them first). Recently, the VA of a few creatures, Asd, has disappeared without a trace. And as such, we're looking for new people to fill in their roles. Meaning that they're now fully open for taking! Those roles are the following: Green Lizard, Pink Lizard, Blue Lizard, Red Lizard, Caramel Lizard, Lantern Mouse, Squidcada, Pole Plant and Yeek. Just... don't ask for characters who are already taken. Asking to be a backup is fine (in fact, backup VAs would be more than welcome), but we're not stripping anyone of their role, just because someone else asked for it as well. This post will be regularly updated, with the list of all the taken characters, and their VAs. Characters who are not on the list do not have VAs, and are fully open.

okay hi

did i promise to make an art... lore dump post literally last month? yes. did i not do it for nearly a month? also yes. and im Very Sorry.

anyway! onto the ranting

So starting off with the obvious, Nanehi's color scheme is based off of the Shawnee tribe's flag!

Obviously more desaturated, but the blue sweater and two yellow stars were meant to show that he's native.

Alright, going in page order I'm just gonna throw around some easter eggs or fun facts or commentary...whatever....

Because this is the only good image I can find of it, Nane wears his parents' wedding bands on a necklace. Because his parents are divorced </3

On page 2, Nane has a poster up on his wall which is my current sketchbook cover in my art class. I believe it's somewhere on my art blog

Nane has a ziptie on his backpack! It doesn't mean anything.

Page 6: The white text that says "what?" is actually a reference to the first debut of Nane - an askblog!

(technically his first word was "huh" but i changed it to what for plot's sake)

Continuing with the black spaces on page 6, the panicked eye doesn't really mean anything. However, the twisted light switch was supposed to represent the noose that shows up at the end of the comic.

For page 7, there's obviously the audience design to talk about, but the things I actually wanna focus on are:

The doodle on the top left, which is Nanehi saying that he thinks he has tinnitus [which he then goes on to immediately deny in the next page]

And the doodle on the bottom right. His fursona is a bunny and if I could, I would've tried to fit more bunny imagery into the comic. But alas :pensive:

Page 13: All the different colored text were the responses I got from a select few people. I showed them the previous panels of the page and asked them what they wanted [there is one distinct person I didn't ask but I will get to them later].

I also want you to keep the... 3rd shade of green in mind [the "i want to see where this goes"]

For this panel on page 15, I wanted it to be known that Nanehi isn't a real person, and they know it. Everyone else's face is squared, even the simply doodled character in the background and the barely visible person in the foreground. Everyone except Nane.

Page 16: Man that's just mold on his shower curtain.

Page 17: There's actually a lot I want to talk about with page 17. Firstly, the design of The Audience. It changed, clearly. Before it was that weird circle thing, but now it's more humanoid - to the point of having hair similar to Nanehi's. The reason being, it's not entirely The Audience anymore. It's The Creator too. Nanehi was based off my fear of being watched and constantly having an audience. The little amount of comfort that the figure gives was... sorta supposed to be an apology to the character- as cheesy as that sounds.

(Also the fact that their text originally said "didn't they already answer that" but was crossed out to say 'we'. The Creator disguising themself as The Audience. And truly, what is to separate them?)

Another thing I want to point out is the dark grey panel. It's the same shade of grey I used for the askblog, and he's smiling in that panel, because during the askblog he was much happier around the audience- or the concept of them, rather.

And then of course, the dark blue text that reads "I know how this ends." That actually wasn't a response I took from someone, but rather a piece of... I guess dialogue, that I felt like someone would say. That specific someone being my friend Classi, who was the only person besides me that knew how Watcher ended. Purely because she had a very similar character and we thought that they'd be buddies.

On page 18, we have 3 entire panels in a different style. That being the style of the askblog.

On page 19 we have this panel, which you can probably assume what it is. It, I suppose, could both be seen as Nane standing, back to the audience, or as Nane hanging without the noose. You choose.

And of course, the last page. For some reason this fucks me up. Because this is The Creator talking to Nanehi. The Creator knows that Nane has no say in how their story ends, but they're given the illusion of control, because that's all they've been looking for. They wanted control over something, so the only way to prove such control was to show The Audience that they could end the story whenever they wanted. He doesn't know that he was talking to The Creator, he just assumed it was still The Audience. He doesn't know that he didn't really have a say.

This was what he wanted. That's how he's ending the story

Hello, hello...this is on, yes? Good, good! Cracking, if you will.

Before we proceed, I've got to lay out a few...rules. Keep the folks from gettin' too wild, hah!

One: While not safe for work (NSFW) is allowed, it shouldn't be too explicit! Keep it toned down to a...presentable level. This is to prevent making people uncomfortable, though I will keep a tag on all NSFW content (block the tag #constable after dark if you'd not like to see that sort of thing)

Two: Interaction by both watchers and citizens is encouraged, I do love a good chit chat with my fellow Wellies! (Read: Roleplay is encouraged! Do abide by standard roleplay rules however, no godmodding, story changing to a grand extent, etc etc)

Three: Enjoy yourself! I do aim to make Wellington Wells a comfortable and cheery place, as my job dictates I do! Have fun, but don't have too much fun, else someone may suspect you're a Downer.

Last but not least, let's all remember to take our Joy! Keeps everything running smoothly, and makes sure everything around stays right as rain, right as rain.

Why did you choose the askblog format for your story?

Well... The funny thing about that is that it was actually something I saw as pretty fun to do. In other words, I kinda did it entirely just because I think it would be a cool thing, and I have seen other stories where you can directly interact with the characters in order to know more about the story rather than being a passive watcher.

That was the main reason, "because it is cool". This probably isn't really as satisfactory as the other askblogs because some of them have many more interesting reasons for having a story in an askblog format, but I unfortunately don't really have that kind of reasoning, I just think it is cool.

Hello.

I am the Narrator of Infinity, a being that exists beyond your concepts of time and space. I spend my time in the non-plane I call home observing countless renditions of countless realities, some of which I even brought into existence myself and govern as Goddess.

However… all you should know that truly matters is that, from your perspective, I am simply nothing but a humble Narrator, writing books about some of my personal favourite characters from all the universes I’ve encountered, and holding them in my Library for the Watchers- you- to read at your discretion.

I also have a penchant for kidnapping said characters and keeping them here as my personal playthings, putting them in truly bizarre situations ranging from the strange yet harmless, and things that would be recognised on Earth as violations of the Geneva Convention. But that’s ultimately unimportant.

Today marks the day I open my doors to the Watchers so that they may ask me whatever they would like to know. I have done so in the past with one of my favourite playthings, but only now have I given myself such an opportunity.
