#personal#the sooner i can move back to the pnw the better#didn't think i would miss the rain but i was wrong#and i *desperately* miss the comfortable temps#97° in may. i'm almost offended#to be clear: deserts are a beautiful complex and thriving ecosystem with their own unique beauty and charms#however i am a coastal forest creature who's lived in a temperate rainforest for most of my life and i was not meant for this climate#i miss trees :(#i miss summer being a month or two long instead of 3/4 of the year#fingers crossed we can renew our lease for 6 months rather than a full year so we can move back in march instead of next august

I have some in-person professional networking-type coffee plans lined up because I live in a real freakin' city with other nonprofit people again!
I am playing hooky a bit on Thursday to see a matinee of the Moulin Rouge tour because I live in a real freakin' city with actual freakin' theatre!
The leaves have changed color and they are pretty!
We popped over to NYC for the weekend for Boyfriend's cousin's 40th birthday party and are still kvelling over how quick and easy the trip was!

#asgard to earth 💚 (ooc)#had a board game night with my fam and brother-in-law and his fiancèe#then we watched the incredibles on disney+#I'm a bit tipsy and all I have on my mind is hope that this next year will have as much miracle in it as 2023 had#I'll be honest 2023 was pretty great#it had it's ups and downs but three games came in my life that I'm so grateful for#because they all brought new friendships and so so so many ideas#I love to feel inspired because it makes me feel alive#my adhd is more manageable when I can direct all of it at something that interests me#so when detroit: become human and hogwarts legacy and ESPECIALLY BALDUR'S GATE 3 crashed in my life#I was pretty much saved from the depression I always slide back into#I haven't had a depressive episode since the middle of October#and this is what I hope you'll all experience#may you never know that black hole that swallows me whole every now and then#and may this lucky streak for me continue because DAMN I feel SO alive in Faerûn!!#seriously hoping you all find where you'll feel great 🖤 wishing the best for anyone who reads this#okay enough about me#go stretch and drink some water#take your meds if you haven't - but only if you had no alcohol!#and if you're feeling low just PLEASE reach out#the world is full of wonders#and all will be well#I promise

Some asshole kid in my class and I get in an argument about Santa Clause's legitness#And I.... You know... MAY have... Beat the living shit out of him for it#LOOK MAN HE WAS BEING MEAN ABOUT IT AND WOULDN'T STOP SO I DECKED HIM WHATEVER#Anyway I got like a day suspension from it and my mom left work and took me to lunch that day and just#Told me out right Santa isn't real#I still believe tho don't worry#The Polar Express could still come for ya boy trust me on this besties#You know I think now as an adult if I'd actually gotten aboard that train#I'd be that little annoying kid with the glasses like. 100% for sure.#When Santa himself tells this kid to Cool It. i love that in order for big time rush to come back they bought the rights to their name and catalog and have gone completely independent. bc that means whenever i listen to their music i can turn to my sister and say “i love indie music”

me after spending the past 12 hours or so in a blinding panic of anxiety like. hm. things are really gonna be okay, huh
#like. i have a job. my first shift is tomorrow (it's a stage shift but like i have the job it's already concrete)#(and i've staged there before so like i know how the place works)#yeah i don't have rent but my brother might be able to help me out#he's more willing to help me out than he is a lot of people#and he knows i'm really fucked financially this moth#*month#even if he can't — my landlord isn't allowed to start the eviction process til the 15th#she told me to tell her if i ever had an emergency and we can work smth out#(bc last year i was in the psych ward and she said that she understands and she's here for me)#not to mention my first paycheck will definitely be before then#i also have an interview tonight at 6 for what /looks/ like a manager position#the guy asked for my portfolio re: photography/graphic design/etc#so i may be getting like. a Social Media Manager type of job which would be SALARIED#even if not. this place pays their HOSTS what i was getting as an EVENT COORDINATOR#yeah finances still suck but they won't for long#this week is gonna let me know just how things are gonna go from here#and what i'll be able to afford#i just have to calm down and be like ok. this happened. what's my next steps#at the VERY worst my situation would be that i would have to move back in with my mom#which is not great but like i won't be homeless#just gotta take a deep breath and take one day at a time#i mean i keep reminding myself my best friend's roommate was 7 MONTHS LATE on rent#bc he kept buying... eurghghg [redacted]#and while im sure my landlord wouldnt let me go 7 MONTHS#the fact im this stressed about being on time with rent AND IT AINT EVEN JUNE 1 YET#like girl chill#ok. OOC: Now that I finally have the time to work on my side of the event & do some housekeeping, I wanted to mention that this will be the last year I host Jack-O-Treat. I love the event but October can get overwhelmingly busy for me, so I’m thinking Five Years at Jack-O’s just seems like a fitting number, ya’ know? ;)
Jack-O-Treat wasn’t the first Tumblr trick or treat event by a long shot, and I’m 1031% supportive of any of you peeps creating your own blog-specific or community trick-or-treat event next year! Only thing I ask is that you not use the name ‘Jack-O-Treat’ and that you write your own promos/etc. please. You’re free to use the same rules & format if you would like, just be sure to make the event your own!
I’ll try to keep an eye out for announcements as the 2023 haunting season approaches, but please let me know if you have a trick-or-treat event you would like me to shout out! I get inquiries about the event as early as mid-summer, and I’d love to be able to direct those inquiries to any new Halloween events! I’m glad to say @the-night-trio is already planning on running an event next year, so be sure to check the blog for future announcements!
