What I Think About Some Canon and Fanon Ships!!

Canon:

Romione (ron x hermione): Cute!! they have been through so much together and just fit together. Their fans are also really nice and pure (except for some Lavender haters)!! I do have different characters that I ship with them more (fanonically) but for canon, they are really good together!! 8.5/10

Hinny (ginny x harry): Meh.....not my most favorite ship ever but still pretty cute.....I think it was just kinda too stereotypical (his best friend’s sister has a crush on him) blah, blah, blah! I think it would’ve been better if Ginny was just more confident and independent (like she was in the books) but overall it’s a pretty decent ship. 6.5/10

Remadora (tonks x remus) : Pretty good but I ship wolfstar!! I honesty think Tonks was lesbian or aroace or something like that, and Remus was prolly bi/gay. It still was a cute ship and we got Teddy Lupin out of it, so no complaints there. I wish it would've been developed more because it didn't have the best storyline/backstory. Overall a pretty good ship tho! 6.8/10

Bleur (fleur x bill): I really liked this ship!! Especially how Fleur said the whole line after Bill became a werewolf (cuz that was perfection)! I'm kinda sad we don't get to see a lot of this ship in the books/movies but it's still great! 9/10

Charry (cho x harry): One of my least favorite canon ships tbh......cho wasn't (emotionally) in the best place after Cedric's death so I have no idea why she would want another relationship so fast!! also, she was quite jealous and untrustworthy of harry (after the whole harry/hermione debacle) which isn't the best thing to be in a relationship....3.9/10

Voldytrix (voldemort x bellatrix): ugghhh yuckkkkk.....this is like one of the main reasons I hated the book cursed child....also, voldy-moldy had no "heart" so he couldn't "love" and Bellatrix only "loved" him not her own husband.....this ship was kinda just one-sided so was just a horrible ship.....why was this even a thing?! -∞/10

Deanevra (dean x ginny): I think this was a pretty cute ship while it lasted. The only thing that was kinda weird was how they broke up......ginny broke up with him because he was helping her get through a door....it kinda looked like j.k.rowling (who I do not support btw) was trying to make it misogynistic but it just ended up weird...nonetheless, it was a nice ship while it lasted. 7/10

Jily (james x lily): This is one of the best canon ships out there, everyone knows that.....the only thing I really didn't like about this ship was how James kept pursuing Lily, even when she said no......it's supposed to be romantic but it kinda edges the line of harassment.....and James was a bully soooooo......but I liked the ship when they were out of Hogwarts....then it was cute and pureeee!! 8.3/10

Marthur (molly x arthur): this ship is freaking awesome!!! it really highlights was a good parent should be to their children (not all the time tho.......*hint, hint*, percyyyy) overall a 9.1/10

now for Fanon

Perciver (Percy x Oliver): THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHIP OF ALL TIME!! and it has sooo much potential!! it could be enemies to lovers, jock x nerd, muggle au, fake dating, friends to lovers, soulmates, there was only one bed, etc.....and omgtheywereroomatesssss.....they probably aren't the very most affectionate in person but just by themselves they are!! overall, I think they compliment each other very well and are just two adorkable boys!! ∞/10

Deamus (seamus x dean): such a pure ship oml.....I think it would've taken some time for them to realize they were bi/gay/queer and liked boys, but when they did, they would be really affectionate and stuff 10/10

Linny (Luna x Ginny): such a pure ship too!! this gives me jock x nerd vibes kinda like percy and Oliver, and is probably such a cute ship. I doubt they would be overly affectionate like deamus but probably would be more affectionate then perciver. I think this would be the start of ginny's bisexual days 8.9/10

Rarry (Ron x Harry): kinda like a friends to lovers thing going on!! I think they would compliment each other very well (even tho they had their differences) and would be a great ship!! 8.7/10

Dramione (Draco x Hermione): No, just no. I don't think I would want by bully to be my boyfriend/crush unless he completely changed himself (which I do not think Draco did)......so no.....but it's better than like Snamione/Snarry/Sneville 1.2/10

Snamione (Snape x Hermione): No again. He bullied her a lot, and was like 2-3 times her age (I get that some people like that thing but I don't so sorry) so nooo 0.9/10

Snarry (Harry x Snape): he bullied him even more than he bullied Hermione....not my ship so sorry about that 0.5/10

Sneville (Neville x Snape): No, no, no, no!! no way.....Snape bullied Neville the fucking most out of everyone else and Neville was deathly afraid of Snape (Snape was his boggart in 3rd year) so no 0.1/10

Percivercus (Marcus x Oliver x Percy): finally!! a poly ship!! I think ship would be really cute cuz it has friends to lovers and enemies to lovers all in one!! it has lots of potential, much like perciver, so cute ship!! I think this is a really good poly ship and I rate it 9.5/10

Dreville (Neville x Draco): eh....I’m not really sure how to feel about this....if Draco is the same brat he was at school then it’s a big fat no, if he’s “redeemed” or trying to, then maybe? It’s better than Drarry and Dramione, at least. 4.3/10

Wolfstar (Remus x Sirius): Absolute beauty of a ship. It’s probably my 2 or 3rd most favorite fanon ship! they really complement each other and are just so cute!! Though it must’ve hurt for Remus when he thought/realized Sirius was a spy (cuz he didn’t have all the facts)!! 9.1/10

Draco Malfoy - Character Study

English is not my first language and this is only a first draft so if there are any mistakes please point them out to me. 

Ok so I have a lot feelings about Draco and his character and the way his character was handled and written.

Let me start by saying a couple of things before you read this. Yes I do occasionally ship and read/reblog stuff about Drarry. I like the potential of that ship for the same reason people loved the book Carry On and the main ship in that book. BUT THIS IS A CHARACTER STUDY. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SHIPS. ANYONE CAN READ THIS.

Another thing I want to make clear is I am not under any circumstance condoning or making excuses for bullying or abusive behavior. Also I am absolutely against Snape, for the reasons listed in this link and many more. The things I say about Draco (and other characters I mention for examples) are meant to be explanations not excuses. I truly hate when there is a character that says I’m evil because I had a bad childhood, a bad childhood can hurt you but ultimately this characters have made their choices and I believe they should own up to them. Some do, some don’t. [insert cool motive still murder gif here and/or the gif from asoue Klaus saying the iconic line: I’m having a bad childhood right now]

Btw I read the books a long time ago and lately I have been so pissed at JKR for so many reasons I haven’t gotten the will to re-read them so if I make some mistakes please tell me.

There are two possibilities I want to explore in this what if scenarios. One has a good Draco ending and one has a bad Draco ending. So there is something for you whether you like or hate this character.

I didn’t always liked Draco’s character. When I was young I hated him. I saw him a bully, a mean jerk. As I got older and gotten on tumblr, my worldview expanded. And revisiting the character and the story I can tell that JKR really did Draco dirty.

Because the way I see it, as someone who loves storytelling and all kinds of media and someone who loves stories and characters with potential. I started to realize that was just so much more that JKR could have done with Draco’s character.

I also realized that if you don’t count the one and only time in book 2 where Draco uses the mudblood slur to hurt someone and because he generally believes that crap his father fed him. He and James Potter had a very similar character and behavior for the first 5 years of school. The fact that we get an entire subplot in book 5 about Harry finding his father was an absolute jerk and a bully the same way Draco is to him in almost every single way and NO ONE made the connection is still baffling to me.

Now I think everyone can agree on the FACT that Draco was not a willing participant of death eaters plan in book 6 and 7. That is a fact that is basically spelled out in the books. He was under threat of death, this people were in his house.

The fact that no one in the order thought that maybe we should move Draco out of the manor after Lucious escaped Azkaban and that maybe letting a 16 year old child getting influenced by a bunch of magic Nazis was probably not a good idea and that they should have maybe done something about that is insulting and horrifying.  

Draco had no other viable option in his mind, all the people that could have helped him did not trust him and all the others would have killed him or reported him to Voldemort.

It’s true that he could swallow his pride and ask Harry and that is completely 100% on him.

The way I see it, Draco could have had an AMAZING redemption arc. On par with Zuko from Avatar. If only someone was there to show him the better way, the alternative.

He could have been Harry’s spy in Voldemort army the same way Snape was Dumbledore’s spy.

I also want to take this moment to shine the light of the key differences between Snape and Draco:

1.       Draco pretty much stopped underestimating Hermione and muggleborns in book 3.  

2.       I also feel like with time he understood that what made pureblood better is what they have and not the fact they are pureblood. I feel that with no return from Voldemort or with death threat he would not have become a death heather.  

3.       Snape believed the same thing as Voldemort and was WILLING participant and only change his mind for his misguided obsession over Lily.

ALSO since I have already pointed out the fact that Draco and James Potter have the same attitude growing up a few differences between them as well:

1.       James Potter was not forced to become a death eather

2.       He also had more tolerant parents.

3.       Lilly, Remus and Sirius all helped him become a better person and grow out of the bully egomaniac persona

4.       Different houses

Now don’t get me wrong. I love reading headcanons and fics and stuff about the marauders and I would love some canon material, like books or Netflix show about them. But let’s face it, watching young James Potter would be totally like watching Draco Malfoy in a different house and with no magical Nazi parents.

I think the redemption arc that could have happened would have been spectacular. I think it’s important to send the message that you are not what your parents believe and you can learn and grow out of the bigotry you learn from parents or society.

What we got was instead Draco being in a grey area and then getting forgiven for doing the bare minimum and continue to be in that grey area for the rest of his fucking life. What we got was weak.

Now onto the other idea I have for this character.

He could have been an amazing foil to Harry. He could have been a perfect opposite of him and started out exactly like that. If Draco had been a willing participant (in which case I would have never even entertained the idea of shipping him with Harry or anyone else) he would have felt like a real villain much in the same way Umbridge does. Voldemort and Bellatrix are larger then life villains, fairy tales villains, like the supervillains you see in a comic. But Umbridge is real, she feels real and something we could all encounter and that’s exactly what Draco could have been.

An example of what I mean is in  the It movie adaptation. In the miniseries the bully was just a one dimensional stereotypical deviant a bad guy. Someone that could have been in the “bad gang” from Grease. But in the movie, they chose an actor that looks as young as the other characters. They choose someone who looks and acts 13. And for me the most terrifying aspect of that movie was the fact that someone took a baby, an innocent child and twisted his mind so much, thought him how to hate and not how to love, that at 13 he was already beyond help. And again this is not me condoning this character, that character is garbage human that is racist and sexists and psychotic. But that’s my point. No one helped him, no one showed him better so he learn to just be cruel. And by the time he is 13 he is already beyond any help.

Think about what an emotional fight a truly evil Draco and Harry would have had. Think about Draco dying and Harry realizing that the good side, the good people as failed all this children. Think about Harry post war, hearing about all the teens and minors they lost during the fight and asking, how many did we lose in the other side? Because they did loose them. They allowed the death eaters and their parents to manipulate them and show them only hate.

Think about the fact that love saved Harry more then just twice.

Think about the fact that many have pointed out, especially in the early books how easy it would have been for Harry to become another Dark Wizard, sure maybe he would have defeated Voldemort but not because it was the right thing, but because he wanted to be more powerful. Dumbledore and Olivander made subtle hints about that in the first book. There is stuff about that in the second book. And in the third book, Harry uses magic on his aunt, sure it was an accident. But if there hadn’t been someone to show Harry love and compassion and care and affection WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO HIM.

And Harry knows it. And think about how easy it would have been to write Harry as a professor in this version. So that he can be the sort of person that teaches children that there is more then hate in life. The kind of professor that helps all children be better and feel loved and cared for and appreciated and that teaches them to love the same way they taught him, the same way they good side has fail to do so before. And think about him insisting they add the minors they lost in the bad side along with the other names because they were children and we could have helped them but failed. Because we let them fall to the dark side. Because most people are not just born evil, they are taught to be evil, some are just not taught how to be a good person.

Both of this could have been amazing storylines that would have impacted the characters and the story in amazing ways. Instead I feel like Draco was pushed into this limbo where JKR didn’t know what to do with him anymore and we ended up with grey area really poorly written story.

I just feel like Draco had potential. And I have always been a sucker for characters and stories with potentials that can inspire me and made me think what I would have done differently. All the ways that character or story opened my mind to new ideas.

We could have gotten a lot more out of Draco. And it’s a shame that we didn’t. And yes, the first redemption option is one of the reasons I low-key ship Drarry and enjoy occasionally reading fics about them. But like I said this is not at all about ships.
