"Hello, guest. Sleeping cell ready. Come, follow, please".

Marbles looks up, half asleep. All the scav pups are already gone, probably taken away by their parents. Now that everyone has gone away to hibernate, the shelter is almost silent. There are only a handful of guards around, walking lightly and keeping their quiet.

The tribe's head merchant has returned to pick Marbles up. They are ready to show her to the room where she'll will sleep this cycle. "Oh, about time…!" Marbles thinks to herself, yawning loudly. The hearty meal from earlier has only added to the drowsiness, and she is happy to finally get some rest.

The walk is not long, but the surrounding corridors turn eerily empty. Each step taken is accompanied by an echo, gently dissolving into the unlit hallways. The area seems to be further away from the main sleeping block, and Marbles wonders if this part of the shelter is unmanned on purpose.

"There, your place of rest" the teal scav points up towards a vertical row of openings, one of them marked with a square symbol. "If need anything, tell guards. Patrol route nearby, they will appear sometimes, easy to find". Marbles nods in understanding.

"Rest well, guest. Until next cycle" says the scavenger, bowing their head and tilting the horns, strings of pearls twinkling in the faint lantern light. They turn away and scurry off quickly, disappearing around the bend.

Marbles climbs up to her sleeping cell. It's spacious, tidy, a little cold. Dust lingers in the air, and it's obvious this space hasn't been used in a while. A spot prepared specifically for her, away from everyone else. Marbles sighs.

The scavengers can't be blamed - she is a stranger to them after all. A creature of her unusual skill is both to be respected and feared. Sleeping here in this dusty room is a reasonable safety precaution. Marbles counts her blessings. A lot of kindness has already been shown to her, with food and shelter.

"It is for the best..."

She takes off her bag, tucks it under her head, and falls into a deep, peaceful sleep.

One Piece Live action season 1 + hints or similarities to future One Piece moments (specifically after East Blue saga)

Again putting this small explanation here: This post isn't meant to be a comparison between the live action and the animanga during Blue East arc, but more so seeing these added/modified scenes that differ from the manga at that current arc, and instead seeing how they fit into future arcs and scenes, have similar parallels or even just choices for characters, and overall bringing these small details of their personalities from later arcs into the show now. (I just think it's neat.)

Luffy + food = classic. Food being very important instant strength and healing factor for Luffy, so that he even puts it in his pockets for later. || opla ep 3 // anime ep. 258.

Luffy & Going Merry - in opla, when Luffy first sees Merry, he thinks she's talking to him - already maybe a small hint what's going to happen (many arcs) later on. Then in this scene with Kaya, Luffy mentions how a ship is another crewmember - another friend to him // in anime the connection between them is especially shown with Usopp and more focus on it begins around Skypiea arc, but I felt Merry coming to rescue the Strawhats at the end of Enies Lobby was even better parallel to show here. She is their crewmember and friend, and they can hear her, thanking her as she saves them. || opla ep 3 // anime ep. 310

Zoro being stuck in places (or going to wrong places) happens so much, and somehow it never gets old. || In opla it's basically the whole episode 4 // in anime during episodes 246-254

Luffy & poison... there's a lot of it for future Luffy :') It's interesting that OPLA decided to add that so soon, & it could be seen as the beginning of Luffy starting to build up all the poison resistance he will need later... || Opla ep 4 // anime ep. 436

Luffy & Usopp's 'arguing' over the captain title. In opla it was a small scene meant purely in the joking way, just like a small scene in the animanga in East Blue arc, but I still wanted to add this as some sort of possible foreshadowing about their dispute/argument during Water 7 saga.|| opla ep. 4 // manga ch. 331

Zoro being directionally challenged. (much like Luffy in part 1 of this post, they think a little differently about the world directions). Not much else to say about this, just that it's still pretty much always funny.|| Opla ep 5 // anime ep 652

Luffy signing his name on the check/ bill for food - in the manga they showed something similar with a IOU on the bill, a future pirate king treasure tab, as Luffy was running from his first shenanigans with Ace and Sabo, so it was fun to see OPLA adapt this as a sort of continuation of Luffy always doing this. Garp talking about not wanting to be a fleet admiral or rising ranks any higher than necessary because it would take away his choices/freedom. - (Always an interesting opinion to see/hear from someone who 'raised' Luffy). It's mostly in the animanga before Wano arc, but it discusses the Akainu vs Aokiji duel that took place after the Summit war arc. Sengoku describes the same ideals Garp had about (not) being promoted, which is another interesting thing that opla moved already into s1. || Opla ep 5 // manga ch. 957, anime 958

i do find it funny how most of the fan depictions of belos were far more interesting and detailed than s3 belos. i've seen fanart and fanfics of him where he's a complex villain struggling with religious guilt and then the canon is just like.. lmao yeah he's pure evil. kill him.

My dad and i made it a few years ago for halloween, probably 2015/16 if i'm remembering right. It's made from a lays can, a wipes container from his work, and paper maché. I don't remember what the wires and front metal bits are from, but the middle actually lights up! It has one of those long battery-powered emergancy lights in it and some colored tissue paper

I disdain and hate Engish dialogue punctuation. I'll explain.

With M-dashes for dialogue and quotation marks for thoughts and inner monologues, the text is objectively a lot easier to read without actually reading the script. You're aware of what to expect, grammatically, and can adjust to the author's pace this way.

I am a fast reader, it's all vital for me and it's a generally good exercise to try and implement grammar as a pace marker.

But the way English-language allows for random placements of the spoken speech is aggravating; it's not, technically, the language's fault, but I totally understand why people constantly feel lost or don't understand the system completely. I don't understand it either, and in a sense, I reject and resent it.

How are you supposed not to if everything looks exactly the same?

Especially when it allows this to exist:

"A lengthy line of dialogue", character A says. "A line that belongs to its own paragraph and is poorly indicated, if at all", character B adds. [Unrelated things are happening here and it's not clear why they're not their own paragraph.] "Line." [who said that???]

Bonus point if there is no indication and the reader is expected to utilise the power of cosmos to understand who said what lest they don't want to reread an entire scene multiple times to simply be able to digest it.

It's partly author's fault. A paragraph is a concealed thought, it should be lone in most cases, but intertwined with everything else. We as authors should always remember this.

But the language allows to mush these thoughts together. It creates a sense of the flow, yes, to write like this; but then its reading is done backwards. You have to look at the end of the next sentence to know who said it, then read the line, then read everything assembled together, and even if your eyes were trained to do that in seconds, it's tiring and unnecessary. Cute but rocky flow, perhaps you shouldn't write like this, maybe it's better to opt out for something like this:

"Line." "Line?" "Line x10." "Oh. Line then."

If a paragraph is a concealed thought, the thought can also be a compound of smaller thoughts. Yet they shouldn't be convoluted or smooched together too tightly they're nigh impossible to untangle?

With M-dashes, this would look like this:

— A lengthy line of dialogue, — character A says. Character B adds: "A line that could still be its own paragraph but now fits as it is clearly marked as an addendum BEFORE the line begins; could be possible with the previous example but is rarely, if ever, structured this way". [Things became their own paragraph.] — Line. — Still unclear who said that but at least it is its own thing now.

And this is one of two cases when "" aren't used for thoughts and inner dialogues; another one is when your entire dialogue is back and forth and can be presented as its own paragraph.

It also makes the text read extremely fast because you take in the sentence structure first and then populate it with words and senses.

I'm angry at this, evidently. A lot of thought goes into where it should not belong—ttp it feels like a honest downgrade from Russiаn. The punctuation should be the rail regulating of reading, not a labyrinth or a some kind of twister game.

Missed ass opportunity... the last time I was at the Marxist meeting one of the members brought up how there was a strong gender imbalance in the organization that heavily favored men, and wondered how they could increase recruitment of women. They kindly reminded current members to not say misogynistic things such as "women just don't care about politics" because it really really seems like women who are curious about Marxism tend not to return if people in the organization say shit like that. I mentioned that women likely do care about politics; that they were simply more likely to focus their efforts on things such as women's rights because they often feel more threatened by the patriarchy than capitalism.

What I SHOULD have said was, "I have a suggestion."
