Honestly the way the early flashback scene hit me hard the second time around, knowing how much worse everything gets.

Katya is so innocent, so hopeful. Expecting a better life with this man she thinks will be good to her.

But Goncharov won't even give her a few hours of his time, on what's supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

Like yeah, shady mafia work is important, but is your new wife not??? During your literal wedding??? But no. She's left standing awkwardly on her own, while he talks business with the boys.

Honestly if she was the main character of this movie everyone would be on her side.

Except maybe the m/m shippers. Female characters don’t tend to do well when she's interfering with a gay ship.

Katya isn't a villain, she's the tragic hero of her own story.
