Mask Carving 2019 - Digital Photograph . . (This image is from a snapshot image series project focusing on the public and private sides of the Qualla Boundary in Western North Carolina. Other images and details are in the works). EBCI member Levon George works on a wooden mask while at his job in the Oconoluftee Indian Village, a popular tourist draw in Cherokee, North Carolina. The Village is set up like a replica 18th century Cherokee Village, with tourists guided through the various stations that demonstrate different kinds of craft work. Smelt Slag with Sun-catcher Rainbow: I've located trench / pits and chunks of magnetic slag on our land over the years.
