~~Sigh~~ This is a prime example of the subtle difference between "Ableism" and "Disablism"
"Ableism" (chiefly American [?]and I think Canadian[?]) is the assumption of an able-bodied/able-minded "norm" that erases disabled people from the concept of "the public" (not always consciously). "Disablism" (chiefly British) is the active and hostile discrimination against disabled people.
So this morning, I was listening to "With Good Reason," a radio show/podcast aired on my local Public Radio station. Today's episode was all about the social and philosophical implications of living with a disability. Each of the four interviews with professors at colleges and universities in Virginia (all of whom were disabled in some way) were respectful and non-sensationalized. Not Disablist.
But when I went looking for a link to the show online, I was dismayed to discover that every episode (current and archived) is audio only, with only a brief description of each segment, and no written transcript... even though one of the guests is Deaf, and another has sensory processing disorders. ~~Sigh~~ Very Ableist.
Anyway, here's the link, if you can listen to it, and/or want to share it with normate family and friends:

I was tagged
by @disastermychild, to tell what songs I listened recently. My stress level is, right now, high, for several reasons too boring to talk about. So I listened to mantras, because they either calm me, or energize me; mostly sang by Krishna Das, Armonian, Nina Hagen, and a long list of Indian singers. Also mostly dedicated to Shiva - from all deities I know about he appeals to me most.

Hi Jess!
I saw that you like to listen to movie scores while you write. What are some of your favorites? Do you have different ones you like to listen to for different writing moods?
Hi Kat!
Oh I love this question, especially as a former orchestra kid! I enjoy listening to movie scores when writing because if I listen to music with words I tend to get caught up in the lyrics and get distracted.
John Williams is my favorite overall (I mean, he has such iconic scores), but in recent months I’ve kept Ramin Djawadi on heavy rotation. I love everything he did for the Game of Thrones score, but also the Westworld stuff is so so good as well!
Light of the Seven is my favorite Ramin Djawadi song. It’s pretty long, clocking in at almost 10 minutes. I think it lends itself to more angsty/sad stuff but I can honestly listen to it anytime I just love the story that song tells.
Otherwise, I just shuffle his stuff on Spotify and see what comes up.
Thank you for the ask!! 💕

It’s been two weeks today since my father passed away so I made a playlist of all the fun tunes he used to have going in the background during our car rides. A lot of these songs I know by heart and they definitely have grown on me spite some of them not being quite my taste. I feel a lot of nostalgia going back through these tracks, I’m sure I’ll add more as time goes on since I’m positive this isn’t all of them.
Enjoy the throw back hits, some are definitely classic tunes but some are a little bit off the beating path. It was nice to crank this while I was off on bereavement leave.
Cheers!

ngày như không có gì
mà đêm về đau tưởng chết
ai biết đâu lòng đã sụp đổ bao lâu
[...]
cầu mong sóng lớn mai sau bình lặng
một người sẽ đến và nói với ta rằng
“đường sắp tới em đi
 giờ sẽ có thêm anh
thời gian qua anh biết em đã vất vả nhiều rồi”

🎶✨️ let’s spread some music! put 5 songs you listen to and publish. then, send this ask to 10 of your followers 🎶✨️
Thank you for your ask, Katie, even if I've seen it like 3 days later 😂
So the first one lately is "Behind blue eyes" by The Who and it's giving me all sorts of fandom feels, especially these lyrics:
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
And if I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
And if I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
youtube
Next we have the Canon in D by Pachelbel, which is enormously fun to deconstruct as you listen to it.
youtube
Still in classical but also not is Bouree by Jethro Tull, because Bach is a genius and so is Ian Anderson:
youtube
Next we have two concept albums that really need to be listened to as a whole and not as songs:
The first one is (actually anything) by Pink Floyd, Wish you were here
youtube
And the second is La Buona Novella by Fabrizio de André, because this list was too anglophonic:
youtube
Anyway tell me which songs give you the most blorbo feels these days, it's definetly Behind Blue Eyes for me!

August music favourites!
Hello, I thought I would make a list of favourite songs I've been listening to. I'm so unoriginal! So here's five songs!
1: "Witchcraft" by Pendulum-
I'm not normally the type for electronic music, but I will make an exception for Pendulum, there's something very hypnotisingly haunting about lead vocalist Rob Swire's voice. It's such a whirlwind of a song, I reckon it could be about someone who is being abused and assaulted by their partner and they want to escape the situation. If you, for any reason haven't checked Pendulum out, go and do it now!
(oh, a little bit of useless trivia, because I know you all enjoy it, if you've heard the song "Rude Boy" by Rihanna, which I'm sure you have, if you haven't, then where the bloody hell have you been for the past 10 years? Swire helped produce the song, and he is the one doing the "hey's" in the background too).
2: "The Steeple" by Halestorm -
Before this song, I hadn't heard of Halestorm but, when I heard this song on Kerrang (I don't know what your country's equivalent would be), you could say that I was absolutely in love with it! I love how Lzzy Hale sings with so much passion and confidence, oh and that sustained belt at the end of the song is nothing short of mind-blowing!
3: "As It Was" by Harry Styles -
Okay, fine... I'll admit it, I actually kind of like Harry Styles' music post One Direction, and As It Was is no exception. This rather upbeat and summery number belies a secret, it's more of a musing on Harry's inner workings, the insecurities he has about his career and the loneliness as a result of his popularity.
4: "Get Free" by The Vines -
Why on Earth weren't these guys more popular outside of their home country of Australia? You have two minutes of pure adrenaline that doesn't let you stop for a break, it's kind of like having three cups of coffee, it leaves you with this massive buzz and then when it's over, you're like "I don't know what that was, but I want more". It's such a crazy, kind of rambunctiously rowdy romp and I love it.
5: "Elevation" by U2 -
Aside from it being used in the first Tomb Raider film, Elevation never ceases to be one of my favourite U2 songs, the whole song either talks about joy or even lust (I mean, it's kinda obvious when you take into account the line of "like a mole, digging in a hole, going down, excavation"). I love the bridge where it goes slightly quieter and then it punches you back in with these almost flatlining synth stabs.
Thank you so much for sticking around to read this post! I hope that's a good enough look into what I listen to.
Sophie 😁

remembering one of the times i was getting evaluated by a therapist to determine if i was "really trans" or not or whatever and he was like "so if you transitioned to male, how would you dress differently?"
and i was like "i.. dont know. I wouldnt?"
and he looked at me blankly and wrote something down and said "really? you wouldnt wear anything more masculine?"
and i realized i'd given the wrong answer so I just said "I would... wear... suits?"
and he smiled and wrote something else down like "ah! yes"

Like the previous years I made my own playlist for my wrapped. I always add a handful of extra songs since December isn't counted or all of November from my understanding. They're in order from the most listened to the least.
Most of the songs are from my 5th arc playlist for DIVE. I did manage to start and finish that arc in its entirety this year, roughly 110 pages I chomped through - most in two major sprees.
Some of the other songs helped me get through some turning points of the year, especially the top 5. Those being leaving my lifting group and my father's passing. 2023 definitely has been quite the eventful year.
Either way, this is what I listen to - enjoy!
