people are saying that about volo huh? man he’s such an experience bc the fundamental rules of the game (or of singles i should say) are messed up there. there’s a lot that’s different in your favor and a lot that’s different in his. the turns system is unique with the strong and agile style thing making it possible to go multiple times in a row (and to get hit multiple times in a row.) the fact that there are no free switches in between your opponent’s pokémon so you can get punished for ohko’ing somebody by having him send out the perfect counter that immediately goes first. the fact that max revives are very easily attainable in this game. the fact that not only is giratina A Thing, but that when playing for the first time *you don’t know about that.* the only way to be truly prepared for giratina is to stall and take the time to heal your team toward the end of volo’s fight which feels kinda cheap. barring that you either have to be very overpowered or very lucky
i struggled when i first played even when using a ton of items and having brought four legendaries (probably bc i was a noob). but on my next replay when i had more experience and a real team i was still fighting for my life, even with items. but i did a no items volo challenge for my most recent run and it was a fresh nightmare that came down to very good luck on my part for the final shot. all three times i remained strictly on level and honestly isn’t the game way more fun that way? i’m also thinking i should go no items or at least limited items from here on out. and a strict level cap
It's mostly YouTube comment bragging I've seen people say that about volo in, but yeah, it's really silly. Couldn't have said it better myself! The way pla is balanced is honestly so cool, and the dread I felt so many times with battling him and he stacked up enough agile and priority moves to get like three turns in a row was painful 😭 not to mention the obscured status! Hoo boy, that REALLY made giratina a pain.
What I find really funny is I beat volo's regular team first try and even when I was liveblogging I mentioned that I was sad it wasn't harder, even if I only had a couple pokemon still standing.
... Then giratina happened 😂 I lost to his first phase sooooo many times on subsequent attempts after that, think I ended up having to swap out my hisuian lilligant for an alpha sylveon and trained that up from scratch just to have a reliable counter for spiritomb.
Anyway yeah, it's soooooo much more fun to stay on level! If I'd just ran in overlevelled there's no way it'd have stayed in my head for as long as it has, it's probably my favourite pokemon moment of all time as it stands. No items is definitely really fun in Pokémon in general, I love having to think hard about team order, items and status moves to give myself the best shot of staying alive 😭 tempted to also try a level cap when I play violet, bc shiny hunting and BBQ grinding made it way too easy to accidentally overlevel (accidentally got my hydrapple to level 100 half way through the epilogue, woops)
If you have access to emulation btw, I'd highly recommend luminescent platinum! Idk if you've heard of it or not but it's a really cool bdsp mod with a few cool story changes, properly scaled pokemon and a massive overhaul to every battle in the game (as well as expanding the dex by A Lot). All bosses have several rotating sets of teams they'll use at random that are fully competitive and there's an option in-game to set hard level caps that increase as the story goes along, and stop you levelling up at all once you reach them. It's really cool! Think I'm up to victory road in that game, should really get back to it haha

Your designs are INCREDIBLE!!! I've been scrolling through for like 15 minutes now! What are your favourite kind of things to base fakies on? It seems like you like dinosaurs and "weird" animals! (I for one think we need more weird animal representation in pokemon)
Thank you! It's usually stuff where i think, why hasn't this been made into a pokemon before (or in some cases why hasn't this been done properly before)? I like paleontology and obscure animal groups but i think non-animal object pokemon i find a more fun challenge to design, and when they're actually a compelling unique fakemon i feel pretty pleased with my work.

So Ingo and Emmet get on occasion a fairytale childhood friends to lovers with their partner and I'm curiously fixated on Emin at the moment any luck we can get some tidbits about him having a friend since childhood? Would he be more prone to rough housing or playing house? Speaking from experience of watching children I'll have you know a child insisted on putting a baby doll in the play oven upsetting all the other children around them (That was Emmet @ Ingo when they couldn't play the games he wanted and Ingo got to pick)
This was also Ingo and Emmet
enjoy ur longer fic
The weird kid in your class intrigued you.
Emin was his name, and he seemed to really like trains. His hair was a bright silver, which was always obscured by a grey newsboy cap. Everyone thought he was odd and uncomfortable, struggling to look other kids in the eyes and talking either too much or not at all. His face appeared to be either stuck in a frown or a smile, but his true emotions were carefully tucked behind his mask. You sat beside him in class and found yourself observing him closely. The comments from your classmates about how weird your fascination with him was went ignored.
It was during a recess that you decided to approach him. He sat alone on the benches where kids who were injured or in trouble stayed. A bright yellow pokemon sat in his lap, humming with static as you sat down near him. His eye did not leave the pokemon, but a slight shift in his arm's position told you that he knew you were there. “Is it true your dad works with trains?” you asked him. His pale eyes darted to you for a moment. You scooted closer to him. “Is that why you like trains so much? What does your mom like?” you questioned him further, desperately curious about your seat neighbour. The Joltik in his lap perked up and hissed at you, fur shooting up.
Emin shushed them and smoothed their fur back down with delicate hands. You watched in awe as he calmed the usually aggressive bug-type to a relaxed ease. “Ah! Your mom must work with pokemon! Do you like Joltiks?” you tried again, desperate for any response. Finally, he deemed you worth enough to speak with as his head turned to look at you. “Yep!” he said with a bright smile. He was in 'no-talking' mode, as you understood from observing him. “Is it okay if I just do the talking?” you continued. He nodded. You had his attention fully. Giddy filled your veins as you blabbed to him about your favourite shows and video games, while Emin just gave body movements that showed he was listening. You had broken through to him.
It was the next day, he greeted you as he took his seat. You did the same. Emin even sat beside you at lunch, which made you ecstatic. “I watched that show you mentioned… I quite liked it,” he gushed, “Thank you for recommending it to me!” Your heart felt warm. You beamed brightly at the silver-haired boy. The rest of lunch was spent chatting about shows, games, pokemon, and trains. Your lack of knowledge towards them was quickly filled with all of Emin's research and interest.
It was from that day, you were friends with him.
You stood outside the house nervously. Your parent was beside you, hand pressed to your back as they knocked on the door. Emin had invited you over for sleepover, to which your parent agreed and brought you over to his home. The door opened to reveal a brown-haired woman in an apron. Her eyes shined brilliantly at the sight of you and your parent on her doorstep. “Are you Emin's friend?” she asked, “Ah, sorry, nice to meet you! Thank you for letting them. My son is verrrry excited to see them outside of school.” The woman's hand was held out to your parent politely. They had a quick adult back and forth before you were let into the house. It was quiet, except for some music coming from another room.
“Emin, dear! Your friend is here!” Emin's mom called out, down a hall. A loud thumb reverberated before eager steps hurried into the living room. There stood the silver-haired boy in a baggy, white t-shirt and grey shorts. A smile spilt across his face as he rushed over to hug you. His mother giggled at your interaction. “Ah, well, I'll let you take it from here,” she began to head into the room which the music came from, “If you need anything, I'll be in the kitchen. I'll call you both when dinner's ready, okay?” You both repeated an 'okay' before Emin tugged you toward his room. It was filled with toys and made your young heart envious. A weird table was set up with a mountainous region and train tracks while a model trail chugged along.
“That's my model train set in the Kalosian mountains,” Emin explained, “My dad and I put it together. He loves trains as much as I do.” You nodded. The boy sat down on his bed, where he pulled out a Game Boy and began playing it. You were quick to join him, watching him play a platformer with practised ease. After a while, he handed the device off to you to play while he dug through his toy chest for a moment. Having cleared a few levels, Emin held a doll out to you. It was a baby doll. Wasn't that usually a girl's toy? “I-I want to play house with you,” he was bright red from his words, “Mom doesn't play is with me any more and I reeeeally want to. Please!” You laughed at his desperate motions, but took the doll anyway.
You soon came to regret your agreement, however. Emin was a bit distant as a father, preferring to work all the time to keep his pretend station afloat while you were stuck with the doll. He would get upset if you stopped playing along by placing down the doll or picking up the Game Boy again. There was now tension in your fictional marriage. The game was ended with you hiding the baby under the pillow and pretending you had no idea where it was. Emin mourned the loss of your pretend child for exactly five minutes before picking up the Game Boy himself. You feared for his future family. His mother's voice ended your playtime by calling you both down for dinner.
~~~~~
High-school was not particularly cruel to you. Not like it was for Emin, who had never grown out of his strange social habits. While they failed to ever bother you, that did not mean your peers were so kind to the poor guy. His passion for battles that left him on a journey to collect badges had temporarily made him cool in middle-school, but the buzz faded and left him still as that weird train kid soon enough. You still found yourself enamoured with his ability to make teams and battle on such a highly competitive level. Once, you had asked why he did not go on to challenge the league and become a champion, but he claimed that was not his dream.
Becoming a Subway Boss was not necessarily unbelievable for his dream, but you still felt the more grandiose title of Champion of Unova fitted him better. Emin did not want that, no matter how many times you tried to convince him otherwise. His interest lied in trains and all the different forms of battles available on the Battle Subway. He had chatted with you endlessly enough for you to know that he would most definitely take that up after graduating. His parents had even surrendered to his whims. Driving trains, battling trainers, and doing paperwork seemed to be what called him and his team.
You simply refused to leave things be.
“Emin, you're more than capable! Why would you want to waste your talents in a dark, dingy rail system?” you argued, frustrated he was so resigned to the idea.
“It's just what I want!" he yelled back, voice louder than you expected him to be able to get, “Why can't you just accept that? I don't want to be a champion! You know better than anyone how much I want to work with trains.”
You weren't certain why the argument had come out. Probably something in the teenage angst at the time, mixed alongside the cruel whispers of your peers about him. Frustration towards them for being harsh and him for never standing up for himself boiled over the side's of your mental pot. His harsh, cold glare left your body feeling cold as tears stung your eyes. The emotional turmoil led to you running away from him and avoiding him like the plague. Your closest, most precious friend had become someone you stupidly upset. He probably would never want to see you again. This was a final favour to him; to spare him a look at your annoying face.
It was as you tried to sneak out the school before you Emin got out of his final class that you were finally caught. The silver-haired man sat on the steps, Galvantula cuddled into his side. His head turned to look at you as you tried to casually walk past him. Clouds covered the sky that day, painting the earth a drab, muted colour. “Do you hate me now?” Emin asked after you had taken a few steps away from him. “No,” you replied. He stood up and wrapped his arms around your body, burying his face into your shoulder. Soft sobs left him as he begged for you to stop avoiding him. You froze completely. “I hate this; I hate being lonely! I want to be friends again,” Emin cried, “I love you.” The likely platonic expression left you flustered from the romantic intentions.
“… Me too, Emin,” you turned around and hugged him back, “I'm sorry for being so terrible! Everyone is just so mean that I thought you becoming champion would make them stop.” He shook his head. You were forgiven, and your friendship was saved.
~~~~~~
After graduation, you both moved into a shared apartment in Nimbasa. Emin had thrown himself entirely into his work as a depot agent, desperate for the promotion to Subway Boss to be given to him. You would admire his work ethic if it did not lead to him skipping meals and breaks. Your job was something easier, a gym trainer for the Nimbasa gym, so you found yourself making sure that the newly born workaholic had at least one proper meal a day. Emin smiled at whatever food you made him. The occasional desserts you made led to a bright grin, too, you noticed. This new discovered sweet-tooth led to you baking regularly. Your extras were shared to co-workers at the gym, catching the leader's attention. Elesa was a bit of a gossiper, you knew, but you did not expect her to take an interest in you at all.
“You must be in a relationship, huh?” she asked, sneaking a cupcake from you, “Who's the lucky person? I have no idea who would interest you.” You laughed. Dating. There were times you wondered if Emin had any idea that being in romantic relationships were a thing. The thought had been on your mind since you had made up. His 'I love you' and warm embrace seared into your mind and causing you to crave more from him. Elesa sat down beside you in the restroom, clearly waiting for your answer.
“I'm single,” you corrected, “These were made for my best friend. He tends to overwork himself.”
“Does he? That's terrible,” she replied, “I have a friend like that. He's terrible.” You gazed at her. The yellow mini-dress clang to her body snugly, revealing her curves perfectly. A model like her would likely know a few workaholics, wouldn't she? You sighed. Maybe she could help you with your problems.
“Yeah… I just wish he'd slow down a little, but he's so desperate to get this promotion because it's his dream job…” you continued with a sigh. Emin was barely sleeping some nights. Which is not what you would want for a person who drives public transport, nor your childhood friend. His dream was important, but so was his health. You hated seeing the heavy ark circles under his eyes while he passed out as soon as he hit the sheets. Elesa blinked at you a few times. Something changed in her eyes, but the answer evaded your knowledge. A small smile came across her lips, covered with a blush coloured lipstick.
“I think… Maybe you should tell him,” she explained, “Your friend might slow down if he realises that he's worrying you.” You considered her words for a moment. She might be correct. You had not properly expressed your worry and concern for Emin enough, so he might just assume that everything he was doing was fine. Nodding at her, you found yourself in deep contemplation. How could you go about this… “Heeeey, also,” Elesa laid a friendly hand on your shoulder, “You like him, don't you?” You grew flustered from her accusation. Was she truly that astute, or were you just plainly obvious?
“I do… I have for a while,” you admitted to her. While she was a bit of a gossip, she had no idea who you were talking about, so you felt yourself to be in the clear. Her grin became somewhat malicious and giddy. Suddenly, you found Elesa deeply interested in you.
~~~~~
It was later that week that you decided to tell Emin about your worries. He had just got in from a late shift and looked dead to the world. His green uniform was wrinkled and a bit disorderly, while his steps were pure muscle memory. You guided him to a chair at your faux-wood table and placed a plate of food in front of him. It was some spicy curry that you both had tried at a food stall in the amusement park. His face perked up into a bright smile after he tried it and left you desperate to learn how to make the meal. You loved when he smiled. While you had once viewed it as when he would talk significantly less, as you aged you realised it truly was an indicator of his emotions and not some red-herring.
Emin gave a weak grin at the food and began to eat it with vigour, clearly having skipped another lunch break in order to shove in as much work as possible. You sighed. Enough was enough. “Em, I'm worried about you,” you spoke strongly, hand gripping the fabric of your jeans, “You clearly aren't taking care of yourself. You can't do that! I don't want to have to come pick you up from work in a serious state because you refused to let yourself rest.” Emin dropped the spoon onto the paper plate you served him dinner on. His silver eyes gazed deeply into yours. His mouth was open in a pout as he froze up.
“… I'm worrying you?” he asked, “I had no idea… Am I really getting that bad? I'm just so close to finally becoming a Subway Boss…”
“Are you truly?” you retaliated.
He went silent. You mimicked him. Subway Boss entailed years of work and an urge to take care of the station alongside being an outstanding trainer. Emin had two of the three. You honestly believed he could get there one day, but that day was not tomorrow or anytime soon. He was working himself into a rut for a desperate title that was never to come if he ruined himself before he got it. You reached out and grabbed his hand. It was warm to the touch. Silver eyes stared intently at the connection. You loved Emin, you knew. He had always been at your side after you braved the looks to reach out and touch him. His oddities did not take away from the fun, loving person he was. His playful and nurturing nature, apparent in how he treated his pokemon and cared for those younger than him.
“I… adore you, Emin,” you whispered. Now was definitely not the time for confessions, but you had the urge to tell him. All those burning feelings that had lived inside you for years. Jealousy when people finally approached him in Nimbasa, joy when he hugged you or stayed close to you, love when he spoke about working with the trains at work and how nice it was to live with you. Maybe if he knew how much he truly meant to you…
Emin closed his eyes and hummed. “I feel the same,” he smiled, “I felt that way since we were kids.”
“That long?” you were shocked. How had you not noticed? He always seemed to simply view you as a friend. There was never any romantic intention in any of his actions.
“You were the first person to be kind to me outside of teachers and my parents,” Emin explained, “You listened to me… You were patient. I felt verrrrry strong emotions. When you let me hug you when we played house, I felt like I was finally content. Having a relationship like my parents' own was always a dream of mine.” His hand gripped yours back tightly, and he scooted his chair closer to yours. “I'll slow down,” he spoke softly, “I don't want my partner to worry about me.”
“Thank you, Em,” relief bloomed through your body at his words, “I'll continue supporting you wholeheartedly.”
“I know you will,” he chuckled. Leaning toward you, Emin pecked a loving kiss onto your lips. You moved into it, enjoying the affection after going so long without it. Arms came to pull you both into an embrace. Finally, you both had obtained a shared goal in life.
“Now… How did Elesa know you'd confess to me,” he asked when he pulled away. You stared at him in horror. Did the model know your boyfriend?! How?! You wanted to scream, but decided to just kiss him some more instead.
blorbo blursday!!!!!!
can I hear facts and knowledges about the atdao gang !!!!
a very happy blorb blurs to you!! yes yes of course you can :D!!
Kai has one younger brother, Kieran, and two younger twin sisters who are now older than Kai due to time loop fuckery, Kris and Kayla. can you tell their parents had a Theme
Noa is into all kinds of obscure music genres, the names of which get more and more outlandish as the story goes on up until the point I'm literally just making them up on the fly and seeing if anyone notices
Tris is into all kinds of fancy pretentious coffee, the names of which get more and more outlandish as the story goes on up until the point I'm literally just making them up on the fly and seeing if anyone notices
you know you've Made It in terms of being friends with Shara when she just. tells you which X Files episode will probably be your favourite. she just Knows based on vibes and she's pretty good at it
Noa and Jacob Greer have scrapbooking sessions together........ Jacob likes all kinds of crafty hobbies that keep his hands busy and Noa is, to many people's surprise, SUPER sentimental :') the Greers are FORBIDDEN from telling anyone Noa scrapbooks fjdjdks
if you let Kai loose in your kitchen they'll just start cooking stuff. they stress cook and they're always vaguely stressed. Kai makes spaghetti bolognese like some people doodle on envelopes when they're zoned out. a running subplot of ATDAO is the Greer family trying to pan the eight fucking tubs of leftover spaghetti bolognese Kai left in their fridge off to people so they can finally be free
Shara uses her handheld radio and the little dashes of interdimensional radio chatter she can pick up to map the layout of other realities in relation to her own! her radio is covered in glittery nail polish and stickers of frogs!
Tris doesn't really enjoy Noa's music taste and prefers high energy boppy pop songs, but he likes it because Noa likes it, and he has all her playlists saved. the especially loud yell-y metal songs are fantastic for blocking out auditory hallucinations with the added benefit of making him think about his best friend and how sweet of a person she is :3
after the story's events, Kai, Tris and Shara go on a roadtrip around Australia together :3c Noa was all "pfft well you're welcome to ask Tris to come along but he won't, he doesn't like travel" and Kai was like "wanna fuckin bet" and made the most detailed colour coded itinerary and route map with every single possible necessary note on it so that everything is Planned and Safe. like Maximum Effort trip planning. so that Tris feels safe enough to finally dip his toes into going on Adventures :3ccc
Noa's favourite pokemon is crobat. she considers this a crucial key fact about herself
when Tris grimly makes reference to The Family Curse people often assume he is talking about the metal illinois but he's usually talking about love for british crime drama television series Midsomer Murders
Shara WILL not leave the house without some article of floral clothing, commonly a scarf or socks. if you ever don't know what to get her for her birthday anything floral is a good bet. or any cool novelty rubik's cube. if you can find her a floral rubik's cube I think you'd win her friendship for life
Sorry, peeps, I’m going to have to ask that you stop asking me if I “have ever drawn [x] Pokemon,” or “drawn [x] [Mario thing],” or if I have “extra art of [x] [Pokemon or Mario thing],” or what my headcanons for [x] Pokemon or [x] [Mario thing] are. I have a growing backlog of Asks like this and almost each one has the same answer: “no” or “I haven’t thought about them”. I have not answered any of them because I don’t like giving “no” as an answer - it’s a disappointing answer to give.
I’m very happy that you enjoy the interpretations I do have for Pokemon or other fandoms, but I have to ask you peeps to meet me half way with some of these questions because I receive so many of them. There is a Search bar on the sidebar of my main blog, please use it. If you are looking for a specific Pokemon, Mario creature, or anything else, please use that search function - it will grab any mention of that [thing] in tag or text form. Several of these questions could be answered if the Asker just looked at my tags. If what you are looking for is not brought up through that search function, the answer you will receive from me will be “no” without exception 99.5% of the time.
I’m being 1,000% honest when I say "if it does not exist on the main blog or b-sides it does not exist and / or I do not have an interest in it.” If I have not posted about that Pokemon or Mario creature before, I have nothing else to share. BTWP’s creature and narrative dump from a while ago was a sole exception, and I consider that vein completely exhausted in terms of any extra information I can or want to share. I will not share anything else related to any of BTWP’s creatures or characters at this stage if asked, I’m exhausted digging through the material and I must ask you peeps to please make do with what’s been shared already; every subsequent Ask demanding something new from it just pushes it further away from any consideration of being picked up again.
In regards to Pokemon: whatever interests I have in a thing are laser-focused and laser-specific and do not move outside that very small zone until something else manages to align with that bubble of interest in some obscure way. The chances of me having done anything with your favourite Pokemon is 0% unless that Pokemon is also my favourite Pokemon or aligns with an accessory interest related to that favourite Pokemon.
If you want an answer about Pokemon from me that isn’t “no”, I must ask you to read what has been shared already. Ask about what has already been mentioned in passing or in detail; ask about background mechanics; ask about culture; ask about technology; ask about expansion on something already mentioned. Please do not ask about a specific Pokemon that has not appeared on the blog, I will have nothing to say.
Otherwise, if you really want to engage with me and the stuff I like, ask me about what I’m currently interested in or my personal original projects - you will probably get an essay’s worth of an answer if that is what you are looking for.
what's your favourite kind of obscure monster
First one that comes to mind is filth licker demons (Akaname). They lick dirty things, like tiolets and stuff. I think they might've been an inspiration for the Pokemon Lickitung.
Second is that one yokai that offers you red or blue toilet paper. I.. there's so many Japanese toilet ghosts are they okay-
I decided to wait until now (1st of Dec in Australia) to post my Pokemon Scarlet/Violet thoughts in full:
- Clodsire is the Pokemon I fell in love with upon setting my eyes on it. As I mentioned earlier, it was worth avoiding leaks just for my first sight of it being ingame. - I also REALLY like Meowscarada - definitely my favourite final stage Grass starter so far. - I dig a lot of these Pokemon designs. As a whole, I prefer them to Gen 8 overall. - I like how the school in general is surpisingly similar to school in the Persona games; each class gives you one multiple-choice question with one correct answer; you can talk to the teachers outside of class in a manner VERY reminiscent of Social Links / Confidants, complete with them saying they feel like they can talk to you about any of their thoughts/issues and a message at the end saying you feel closer to them (with a musical note above your head); the teachers all have unique personalities and appearances; and of course there are exams with several multiple-choice questions and are recaps of what you learned in previous classes. There's also a female character who is terrible at cooking. It makes me wonder if the Persona games were the inspiration for how the academy worked... - Trying to work out evolution methods while playing blind was an unforeseen issue I had. It's not helped by the fact that officially revealed Pokemon didn't have their evolution methods revealed either. Some were obvious - the starters and the "Route 1" 'mons - but most of them are hard to tell. Do they level up, and if so at what level? Do they need items? Do they need to be traded? Do they need an incredibly obscure method like Sliggoo, Inkay or Yamask-G? - I like how there's a way to change your Pokemon's Tera Type and it didn't need DLC or anything - with the in-game trade that gives Gengar, I can now have a Psychic Gengar for the TRG Colosseum meme! Oh, and it's competitive uses are neat too I suppose. - I really like how obedience works in these games - making it so that Pokemon who were caught at a higher level than your Gym badge allows won't obey, so the badge level thing actually means something for everyone and not just a very small percentage of players. - The Team Star storyline was excellent! - The overall story might be my favourite in a Pokemon game as well.
- My main gripe is that the vast majority of buildings don't have interiors, assuming they can be entered at all. There's something about doing that that I really enjoyed that I don't know how to describe. Subsequently, I do really enjoy the school. - A minor one: the Elite 4 and Champion music were a let-down for me. EDIT: The upcoming patch fixes something wrong with the music, maybe I wasn’t hearing the intended songs? I might remove this critique if so. - And obviously, the performance issues go without saying. - Dondozo was the shiny that spawned and unspawned while I watched Grimer evolve. I wish there was something to prevent that somehow.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I might play it again using my second account.
🌹🍑📔
🌹 How easy is it for them to connect with others and make friends? On the flip side how easy is it for them to make an enemy of someone? Are they the kind of person who hangs around the food table at a party and never talks to anyone or are they the type who can talk to anyone? Hauyne finds it really difficult to connect with others, mainly because of her aloofness and reticence. It's why she holds the friends she does have very close to her heart, and would do anything for their sakes. On the other hand, she does have an unfortunate knack for pushing people away and pissing them off... they avoid her either because they are too intimidated to approach her, or feel repulsed by her cool demeanour which is frequently mistaken for arrogance.
As you'd expect, Hauyne's the type of person who will hang around at a corner and not talk to anyone in a party. Unless the partygoers are someone she is acquainted with.
🍑 Where is your OC’s favourite place to relax or calm down? Recount a story of their time spent in this place! What makes it so special to them? When she’s stressed out and/or has a lot on her mind, Hauyne likes to visit the seaside to listen to the waves crashing against the shore and to enjoy the sea breeze. It’s ironic, considering that having a Fire typing meant that she couldn’t even go near a body of water without taking measures to protect herself from the water.
Another place that she likes to relax in is the largest and most ancient sakura tree in Sheridan Village. There are some occasions where people had caught her napping serenely on its branches...
📙 What kind of subjects (of conversation, of discussion, in school or whatever) does your OC find interesting or engaging or that they can talk for hours about? What kind of stuff do they just find fun? What things bore your OC to tears and they couldn’t care less about? Why? Quite a lot, actually! She’s pretty much a closeted nerd XD
Hauyne enjoys talking about the intricacies of Pokemon battles, such as strategies and how one can employ a particular move unconventionally to great effect, as well as Move Creation. She also has a deep interest in medicinal plants and its applications; if you let her, she’ll ramble and lecture about it (e.g. their general effects, obscure facts about certain plants/herbs, how to distinguish the high quality ones from the bad, and et cetera) for hours on end. Not only that, she has a fascination with myths and legends, be it from her homeworld or those native to the Pokemon world. Chemistry and Art also some of her favourite subjects in school.
As for what she finds boring, small talk for the sake of small talk. If you’re going to talk to her for no apparent reason, she’s out. Also applies to tech-y stuff or physics-related topics that couldn’t be applied to daily life; while she can grasp the concepts fairly easily, she has zero interest in it and would rather do/talk about something else.
So much of Final Fantasys identity is through ripping off other games. FFXIV would not exist without WoW, the FF TCG would not exist without Magic the Gathering, and actually maybe I should have started with this example but the very first Final Fantasy game wouldn’t even exist without D&D first edition. There are further spinoffs that are probably less important like My Life as a King coming from Matching Maker/Metropolismania or FF Explorers just being Monster Hunter but with FF enemies, but no one really talks about those. I’m not here to deride the FF franchise for iterating on already popular games, far from it. I actually wanna list more it needs to start ripping off.
Animal Crossing - lemme dress up a chibi warrior of light in FF cosplays and decorate my house while talking to bipedal chocobos and behemoths and shit
Minecraft - Dragon Quest did it and it was great. It took place in an alternate history timeline of the first game where the villain won. Do that with FF1. Say Chaos won. How do we rebuild? Minecraft style with eccentric NPCs, duh.
Dynasty Warriors - You keep making these numbered FF games with action-oriented combat reminiscent of either KH or Nioh but what you fail to understand is that Musou is way cooler. Give it Stranger of Paradise’ job system and let me customize how I kill hoards of catuar. Better yet give the customizable avatar MC the job system and let all my cohorts be returning FF characters from series past. And gimme obscure shit, too, I don’t mean throw Cloud and Sehpiroth in there and call it good - don’t fucking skimp on Faris FFV or Maria FFII or any lovable character from games you don’t milk annually.
[Your Favourite 2D Fighting Game Here] - I know you think Dissidia is cool and original or whatever but take a step back and look at how much more popular 2D or even more grounded arena fighting games are. How much more character-per-character you could shove in a full move roster rather than just “Brave attack and Damage attack”. Hey, @ SquareEnix, this isn’t just for the fans, dude, this is for YOU. It could sell gangbusters. You like money enough to sell NFTs but not enough to make a 2D FF fighting game? Lazy dogasses. Call it Fighting Fantasy like you were originally gonna call FF1, have some fun with it. And again, I swear to god, if you topload it with VII I’m going to bite your ankles off.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch -
Tumblr media
Pokemon - Another thing Dragon Quest dared to do and strived off of. Call it Final Fantasy - Beastmasters as a callback to the cool recurring job that Yoshi-P won’t add to XIV for some reason.
Rune Factory/Harvest Moon/Stardew - I think this is what Harvestella is supposed to be, but it doesn’t go hard enough IMO. MORE Final Fantasy. Romancable returning characters. Ranching baby behemoths. Real-time combat in dangerous dungeons. Maybe farming.
Elder Scrolls - You guys have a good thing going here, you’ve got a grand RPG series with history and lore and recurring enemies and themes - now make it open world, first person, and release it several times in an identical state over the course of a decade.
uuh anyway in conclusion if u make video games then rip off as many other games as you can cause you’ll probably do better than them eventually
What’s your favourite headcanon about your muse?What’s something only very few people know about your muse?
Tbh everything that makes it out of my head about Lorelei ends up on here. The only information that would be obscure would be stuff from the first blog, two remakes ago - stuff like her original Pokemon team or the many bumps I hit along the way of defining her powers. I have almost all my cards on the table, except the ones I ate because they were stupid.
My favorite headcanon has to be her entire family - I greatly enjoy discovering all the little ways her upbringing and background influence who she is, from her "preparing and sharing food is an act of love" mentality to the fact that she has three moms to model her mom friend tendencies off of. It's just nice to have all that groundwork laid out to work off of.
Although if we're being more specific... it's the existence of her dad's recipe book. Love is stored in the overstuffed hardcover journal filled with notes and bookmarks, everybody.
TAG 9 PEOPLE YOU WANT TO KNOW BETTER:
(I love doing theses things btw) I was tagged by @gothamstreetcat (thanks btw). Don't know what the etiquette is for when someone tags a side blog but, shrug, I'll keep this here. (BTW if you do want my main blog i'm @pyrocortex)
1. Favorite piece of clothing you own? If it still fit me it would be that steampunk-y vest with actual tails, however it's probably the black and red dress with the flower pattern (It's my goth phase and i get to decide when it ends, which is never)
2. Your comfort food?
Homemade baked goods. It doesn't specifically matter what, the comfort comes from the baking.
3. Favorite time of year?
Autumn is just generally aces but Halloween month is that extra good stuff.
4. Favorite song?
Depending on mood: Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youths, Adrianne by Orion Experience, Burning for You by Blue Oyster Cult, or Misanthropic Druken Loser by Days N Daze
5. Do you collect something?
Currently Nothing (except prephaps comics about Catwoman and D&D minis). previously? Stamps, coins, pretty rocks, MTG and Pokemon trading cards, legos, stuffed animals almost all when i was really young and didn't understand how "collecting" worked (like, secondary markets were a mystery to me, i just came across neat things and hoarded them like a dragon)
6. Favorite drink?
Hot Chocolate. Because the winter is cold, chocolate is tasty, and alcoholism seems like zero fun.
7. Favorite Fanfiction (if you are comfortable to share)
Sure, why not. Though given some of the fanfics that have most stuck with me are for fandoms tied to media properties i don't feel like giving even the most minor attention, or just fandoms i'm not willing to admit being a part of. That said Current favourite is: Red Robin Hood by Candlebreak (Batman) Which is not done, but damn if it not well written (and well constructed, and with thematic death). Plot tl;dr, Under the Hood AU where Jason kidnaps Tim after their fight in the tower and the entire bat family mobilizes to try to get him back. It's kinda really fucking dark in places (arguably no one in this story is in a mentally healthy place even before Tim got kidnapped) but... damn it's good. Also some previous favs which i'm willing to admit possibly do not hold up it's been a while since i've read these: Better Angels of Our Nature by bzarcher (Widowtracily, Overwatch), which one hand, Blizzard sucks as a company and by all reports overwatch currently sucks as a game, on the other hand... cute lesbian polycule working through trauma together (I'd say it doesn't quite hold up through the ending, but it's still solid). and legit, the first fanfic I think I ever read (which I found on Deviantart): Jane and Amelia 1: A Cry for Help (along with the rest of that series) by Firefall Bangenthump. Which is a crossover between's Disney's Tarzan and Treasure Planet, that ships Captain Amelia and Jane Porter together... And while it's been, probably more than half of a decade since i've read these, I do remember it being pretty good (and also it kinda just logged itself in my brain and hasn't left since). I have no explanation, or justification, save for the fact i was barely a teenager. On reflection it's probably weird that i can't think of any truly stand out fanfics for what I'd consider my biggest media obessions, (Cybersix, Discworld, the Vorkosigan saga, Catwoman). but also I will admit to not having done a through search (plus it's like, With discworld the vorkosigan saga and catwoman there's a mountain of official content, and full read throughs of any of those could take weeks (but more likely months or maybe even a full year) and with Cybersix it's just, old and obscure and last received new content a decade before ao3 launched). All that said i'd be down for any recommendations forged Catwoman centric fics. TAGGING: @biracialdamianwayne @harlequintears @pleasestophoney and@the-caped-crusader and anyone else who wants to do this.
Nostalgia Pt0: Anemoia, nostalgia for a time you’ve never known
It is always the same. I find myself in bed, late at night, lost in thought, checking something on the phone when suddenly it hits. In this case, I really should have seen it coming. The installing of old games, checking old equivalents of interests of mine...
Specifically today, the trigger was Kowloon Walled City, City Pop, and old consoles such as the original GameBoy.
Why these topics? Because I am interested in big cities, Japanese music, and videogames. But why these in particular? I was not alive during most of that time after all. Let us first check what all these topics are.
Tumblr media
Kowloon Walled City by Atlasobscura
Kowloon was built naturally, it grew and grew up until 1993, when its demolition started. It offered many amenities for its residents, such as doctors, technicians, water sources... And although the Urban Hell  looks and the many drug, gang - triads -, gambling... problems, people often talk about it fondly.
I do not have any connection to this place whatsoever. It perhaps may not even be the best example. But I find something about this strangely familiar.
Tumblr media
Matsubara Miki, Best Collection by Spotify
City Pop on the other hand was created as an introduction of occidental culture into the 70s and 80s Japan. The music takes inspiration from funk, R&B, and soft rock among others, and you can tell by the funky bass, the techno piano, and the unique drums. Again the only connection I may be able to make is Spanish 80s ballads, which my parents used to play when they were my age.
Tumblr media
Pokemon Gold by The Orion
Then for my latest example is the original GameBoy / GameBoy Color. These were released in 89 and 98 respectively. I was born in 1998, so I have not experienced them at all. I have no older siblings nor family who may have exposed it to me. I did start with the GameBoy Advanced later, but the feeling is different.
I returned to them recently, even bought an original GameBoy second hand. And It definitely feels like I have experienced this before.
It turns out that, of course, the internet has a word for this feeling. According to The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows:
Anemoia - n. nostalgia for a time you’ve never known.
That is exactly how I feel about some of these. And I know I am not alone on this.
Very prevalent in my generation is the liking for things that have old qualities attached to them, even if they may not be.
One of these would be Lofi music. A style that aims to replicate the Low Fidelity aesthetic of older mediums such as VHS or cassettes. These are mostly recent, but perfectly exemplify it. And it is not as easy as creating some pixel art game, or some grainy sounding music.
My favourite is old songs but it's lofi remix. But there are other, more modern, lofi videos on YouTube.
Undertale does this to perfection. At least to me, when I first played it I felt as if I was playing an older title of my childhood.
Tumblr media
The game was of course brand new, but everything from the art to the music had that aura. And it is strange that my generation has this love for old things. Such are the Vines compilations that still roam around the internet - even though Vine has been discontinued for years already. Or your family is asleep and you’re playing minecraft on a cool 2012 summer night.
So it is not that farfetched that new pieces are created to scratch that itch.
Tumblr media
Who knows, maybe as I grow older I will experience nostalgia for these things I am now exploring, a nostalgia towards a fake nostalgia. Like having the freedom to write a blog post at 3:30 in the morning - after my previous one was deleted completely, thanks Tumblr.
Nikon 35Ti by emulsive.org
But do try to give it a look. Perhaps if you are interested in cameras try researching about the 90s film cameras, and take some lofi on your way. Or if you are interested in music check some older synthesizers. You may not know what you have never experienced, perhaps you were 10 years late to experience it, that does not mean you have to miss it completely.
