Hi Everyone,

If you're considering your options after experiencing harassment at work, there's a tool I wanted to shine some light on that your employer probably doesn't want you to know about. An option that doesn't involve HR or signing over your soul to a company lawyer.

It’s called a demand letter.

It’s lowkey the legal system’s quiet little power move. If something happened and HR made it worse or did nothing you don’t have to go quietly. You can go strategic and legal - with a demand letter.

What is it? It’s a letter your lawyer (or legal clinic) sends to your employer. It outlines what happened, how the company failed you, and what you want them to do about it -like money, a reference letter, or changes to your file.

Why it works Because employers hate lawsuits. They cost time, money, and PR cleanup. A demand letter signals you know your rights, and you’re ready to take action without asking for permission from HR or your manager’s manager’s manager.

Why no one talks about it Because it's not in your company handbook. Or mentioned in your harassment training. And it's a threat to the structure the company benefits from.Will I have to pay a lawyer?

What if I just want to move on? That’s totally valid. But sometimes moving on is easier with a severance, or a reference letter. Or just a little bit of control back.

Question,

Where/what do usually compose your fics on? Which one was the weirdest/most unconventional?

I'll go first:

Usually, I write in my notes app & fix the formatting if I'm posting on ao3 with what's provided there. However, at 11A.M last month, something possessed me to start an SPN fic on my DS. In the empty chat room. With the tiny stylus on the TINY screen. I went with a scenario I've had in my head & just went with it.

Due to this & the incapability to delete mistakes easily (not that I really gave a fuck at the moment) + having it all split into tiny messages, it's an absolute mess.

My wrist hurt after like 20 words but I pressed on & got about 6 paragraphs out of it so let's fucking go? I couldn't save my work on there ofc, so I took pictures with my phone (which is how I know the time.)

On a less unhinged note, I've also jotted down my fic in real time on ao3 & my journal, where I try to copy all my fics. And I once recorded a 54min brainstorming session & another time a few scenes of a story that may or may not become a fic on my audio recording app bc I was too tired to open notes before passing out. I might add the pics later.

Follow up to my last post.

I have no idea whether this was before or after I found the Where There Is a Screen AO3 Will Be Seen trend, but one time a few years back I was at a YMCA. The treadmill I hopped on was one the ones that are low-key a lot like phones in that you can plug in earphones & listen music on Spotify or watch TV, among many other things.

Not wanting to deal with logging with a freaking treadmill into my Netflix account, I usually just watched whatever was on live. However, it also allowed me to access Google, SOMEHOW.

After some thought of what I could do with it, I just flat out opened AO3 in front of everyone. I don't think I even clicked on a fic before my mom asked WTF I was doing so I exited Google.

Note that I was not going to start reading an NSFW fic on a giant screen, don't worry. I was just curious what I could do LMAO.

I've read & written right next to my family, in clear view, & I still break into a cold sweat when I remember these acts of hubris. As for place, I've never opened up a fic tab anywhere weirder than the Y, but I'll elaborate on that in my next post here.
