What sealed Beauces as your breed choice??

Meeting them, honestly

I, like most people, was drawn to them because of their look, but when I started seriously looking at breeds, I threw them out because they are really not recommended for first-time owners, and I doubted I'd be able to handle one. But I met a few local Beauces at a meet the breeds event in 2022 and just meeting those three has had me totally obsessed with the breed!

They're really something else. Super clingy, super velcro, super physical. They're smart, but they've got a mad sense of humour and are so slow to mature that you've got to be creative when you work with them. They're strong, but they're soft; they're in-tune with you emotionally, but they show their affection by beating the shit out of you. They just want to be on you at all times, just want to be with you, just want to be doing what you're doing, be where you are, but they truly live for fun. They have the drive to work, and they're willing to work with you, but they're not BCs or Mals. They're not working FOR you.

I've ultimately decided to pursue a Collie as a first dog and a Beauce as a second, just because of the SSA that pops up on occasion in Beauces, but I can't imagine never owning one. They're really incredible dogs. They do beat the shit out of the people they love, though, they very much do that LOL
