the important purchases:
an olive tree for me! so i can start working on my 'abandoned greek temple' area again. i've also been collecting olive branches from michael's by flagrantly abusing the 'get 40% off one item' coupon, putting in one order for a single branch online, and then purchasing a single branch in store, getting 40% off of that one, and then picking up my order. two orders, two branches, two discounts.
migraine glasses! which they make now, apparently. with the option of getting the lenses 80% tinted. they're a special lens type that's meant to filter out fluorescence &tc and be helpful for light sensitivity.
a rug! it's pretty and blue and white and makes me think of majolica tiles
the clone wars lightsaber fighting wii game! obviously the most important, in terms of entertainment value. and value-value because it was only 5$ bless you amazon seller.

Reference pics for chapter 4 of my fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/52529287/chapters/132878839
Was looking a servings dishes and found so many boring white ones. Then I stumbled upon this absolute treasure!
Tumblr media
https://www.paoloderuta.it/en/vassoi/17-16-vassoio-tondo-sim.html
According to this website: "Raffaellesco is a benevolent deity who bestows good luck and fair winds to seagoing merchants, thus the puffs of wind steaming from the dragon's mouth."
Which I thought was lovely and appropriate symbolism, not only as an intended blessing for when he married Émilie but also regarding what Gabriel is considering in chapter 4.
And of course, the ring!

The novelty is that alongside the traditional one in shades of white and blue, joined together to represent the Mediterranean Blue theme, there are garments and accessories in white and fuchsia shades. A folklore, a color palette that is also extremely fashionable as fuchsia is the color of the moment, one of the top of the summer: sweet, pop, intense and combined with white it gives an elegant, refined allure.
Bustier dress with shoulder pads in Majolica print silk charmeuse and chic and trendy accessories to fine-tune a disarming evening look. Dress that lights up with sensuality thanks to the seductive neckline and the snug line, platform the shoe that mixes femininity and determination, the Devotion bag with the jeweled heart gives absolute elegance, refinement and the scarf and sunglasses give a fashion attitude.

saw that really long Delaware post and in the joke list someone was like 'I thought Delaware was a type of pottery' and someone was like 'that's porcelain'. And no, they were thinking of Delftware which is the name for the Dutch knock off of the traditional blue and white pottery started to get imported from Asia in the like sixteen hundreds and was so incredibly expensive because Europe didn't know what kaolin was yet so the Dutch figured out how to make white glaze from tin called majolica so they could compete (even thought they were sitting on grolleg, which is a very very very white kaolin but i digress)

World building and theories of Engage
Queen Sefonia
The localised version of her name takes away the theme of Solm names. Characters from Solm are named after Italian desserts, a nod to the Sicily inspiration. Sefonia‘s name in Japanese is Sfoglia. Sfoglia means ‘thin leaf’ in Italian, the name describes the texture of pastry which resembles stacked leaves. Sfoglia is often shell shaped and filled with fruit. A similar dessert is lobster’s tail pastry.
In her head she adorns a white coppola with feathers. In Sicily different colours of the coppola signified social class. Royalty and nobles wore a white coppola. The decorations on her coppola are two black feathers and one red and orange feather. The Black feathers are a reference to Saint Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. When Alear arrives in Solm (Chapter 12: The Sentinels) they find themselves lost in the desert. Queen Sefonia had sent her children to scout for the Divine Dragon. Her son Fogado is the one to find them and guide them back to the palace. The lost Dragon becomes found. In Sicily it is also a tradition to keep black feathers under your pillow to protect from death. To receive a black feather from Sicily is a bad omen. The orange and red colour could be inspired by the colours of Sicily which include, red, yellow, orange peach, brown and blue.
The patterning upon her shrawl or a sciallina and her sarong is a nod to majolica design. The shawl is worn for modesty as well as protecting from the elements. The sarong has an Arabian influence with the decoration and tassels akin to a balancer.

RunSun Bathroom Design Trends For 2022

RunSun Bathroom Design Trends For 2022
Trend signal No. 1: A Tribute to The Ecology
Bathroom design for 2022 aims to bring "green" closer to nature. The choice of natural materials is a trend, not a tribute to fashion. Wood and natural stone are favored in finishes, not only to create a calm and comfortable atmosphere but also for ecological reasons. Thus, the new trend of bathroom tiles features wood, marble, natural stone, and good old plaster that mimic natural textures. Complementing the faux-natural materials are tiled with Italian Majolica-style decoration.A hexagonal tile shape borrowed from the honeybee." Honeybee Hive" tiles, on which the textures of different natural materials and even their combinations find a place.Advances in the ceramic industry have made it possible to create faithful imitations that reproduce the finest nuances of heart beams and annual rings, the different positions of each type of wood, and the cracks and fractures of natural rocks. In addition, the tiles meet all environmental requirements and are made from natural ingredients such as high-quality natural clay, sand, and feldspar. This production does not cause any damage to nature as opposed to cutting down trees and consuming the earth's subsoil in the extraction of natural stone.Indoor plants have become an important element of the interior, complementing the wicker furniture, and they bring the feeling of a summer terrace or winter garden into the home. Caring for potted plants has become a popular activity, and their accumulation in living spaces has even won back the popular name of the urban jungle.Stylish combinations determine which style will be favored - Mediterranean ethnic or Scandinavian, as well as rustic. The plethora of styles casts a "shadow" on overall fashion trends in the bathroom design trends of 2022. The entire picture is completed with untreated, completely natural fabrics.
Trend signal No. 2: Natural Colors
Today, colorless white, black and intermediate gray, beige and all blues are in vogue. The tensions of the past 2021 have led to the choice of a natural color scheme in the new 2022. It was difficult for people to stay in bright colors for long, so dappled shades replaced the natural colors of earth, sea, and weeds as compensation.Neutral grays and beige are called the trusted palette. The trend is to combine a trusting palette with expressive but natural shades of yellow, pink, and red.Sophisticated and elegant truffles, milk coffees, soft beige ginger and pastel yellows, light blues, and dusty navy are becoming popular backdrops. New trendy abstract wall panels look great against this backdrop.Therapies with natural colors, natural textures, and shapes are the trend of the day. Lush greens reminiscent of mown grass, rich emeralds look elegant, and bright amber or a deep blue like the night sky will fill any interior with expressive notes. The extravagant contrast of black and white introduces dark colors into light-colored interiors, design techniques that still hold their own.
Trend signal No. 3: Harmonious shapes, functionality, and uniqueness in minimalist fashion
Cluttering up your living space with things that lack personality is not fashionable today. Buying items with history is an emotional experience that cannot be matched by buying mass-produced furniture. However, minimalism retains the upper hand and is a design trend that has not gone out of style over the years. The main mantra of this style is to free up space, which means getting rid of non-functional objects and decorating for the sake of decorating. In 2022, minimalist bathroom designs are beginning to take on soft, rounded shapes. Furniture without corners, smooth faucet shapes, round and oval bathroom accessories will form the basis of 2022 bathroom interiors.Arch shapes, storage niches in various interpretations, and mirrors on the walls and floor are trends that fit in with minimalism this year. Tile as a design element in the bathroom offers a wide range of options. Different shades of marble beige, green, blue, expressive natural stone textures, and worn wood or concrete surfaces are almost the only decoration for minimalist interiors.
Trend signal No. 4: Ergonomics and combining functional spaces
The bedroom adjacent to the bathroom should be included in the house plan. If combining functional spaces is not an option, a large bathroom with windows to let in the sun is a good choice.A fireplace in the bathroom? Why not! Living spaces become more personal and original. Ergonomics is the science of calculating the correct position of sanitary fittings and furniture so that your back doesn't get tired because the sink is at the wrong height and the water doesn't run down onto your hands while you're washing. Agreeing on a communication plan for lighting outlets and plumbing installation areas is a necessary step that should not be overlooked.
Trend signal No. 5: Asymmetry is the fashion trend
Regular shapes and familiar sizes are boring. 2022 sees the asymmetrical shape of the bathtub or sink become a decorative element in the interior.Modern lighting systems consist of original lighting fixtures that look more like works of art than simple fixtures. The cylindrical shades of chandeliers hang from long wires, and the lights are on tall legs with large spherical tops.
Trend signal No. 6: Eclectic fashion
The new year 2022 heralds a creative breakthrough in the interior design of intimate spaces such as bathrooms. Bathroom design will combine the freedom of imagination with a desire for new experiences.RunSun professional bathroom accessories sets can be presented for each request with different styles, different expressions and ornaments, formats, shapes, colors, and surface finishes.A design feature is the combination of expensive bathroom accessories with mass-produced items, luxurious mirrors, and modern forms of sanitary equipment.Creating original and truly artistic images is the main rule of design in 2022. Just one item with a unique design, or just a bright color for 2022, can form the basis of any style of bathroom interior design composition.
Trend signal No. 7: High-tech fashion
Integrated and/or multi-level lighting, ergonomic bathroom accessories, functional technology, sensors, thermostatic faucets, heated towel racks, and shower enclosures remain among the bathroom design trends of the coming 2022.In our RunSun E-Catalog, there is a series of bathroom supplies for indoor and outdoor, as well as gardening and household products customization and OEM/ODM development. Designers Benedict and Daniel created a charming interior based around their shared taste in collecting, their cheerful acceptance of the house’s imperfections, and a sense of humor.
Tumblr media
At the back of the living room, a simple George III cabinet painted turquoise serves as a drinks cabinet. The french doors lead into the garden.
Tumblr media
In the dining room, the built-in dresser holds a collection of majolica pottery.
Tumblr media
‘Squiggle‘ fabric in green and white complements ‘Seaweed’ fabric on the tablecloth.
Tumblr media
Benedict and Daniel kept the colors in the kitchen. As the paint has peels off in places, they simply glue it back on. A collection of ceramics hangs on the walls.
Tumblr media
Some of Benedict’s frame designs decorate the space above the dresser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Daniel’s bedroom is painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Dix Blue.’ Many of the pictures in this room, some bought by Daniel and others bought for him, relate to Venice.
Tumblr media
The landing, which is piled high with books, opens into Benedict’s bedroom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Benedict’s room is a riot of colour and pattern, with a patchwork quilt and curtains, a deep wallpaper border, an oversized 20th-century painting and an embroidered side chair.
Tumblr media
The upstairs landing is packed with pictures. The table is a 19th-century Burmese carved table, relacquered by Benedict.
Tumblr media
Outside Benedict’s bedroom, a desk is surrounded with piles of books. The lamp is made out of a Han Chinese vase.
Tumblr media
Benedict’s studio.

A small terrace perfect for outdoor entertaining.

At the back of the house is another seating area.

Chocolate Jar with Iron-locked Lid, Talavera Poblana, 1725, Art Institute of Chicago: Arts of the Americas
Talavera poblana, a tin-glazed earthenware, was made in the central Mexican town of Puebla beginning in the sixteenth-century. The name likely refers to the majolica-producing city of Talavera de la Reina in Spain. Talavera emulated the designs of fashionable imported Spanish ceramics; like its Spanish prototypes, it showed the influence of Islamic, Chinese, Italian, and French ceramics, all present in cosmopolitan Spain during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and transmitted to Mexico during the colonial period. This chocolate jar–with an iron cover, collar, and lock–would have been used to store valuable commodities like cacao beans. The blue-and-white ornamentation features panels composed of fringed curtains and scrolled leaves that frame long-tailed birds, a popular motif that may recall Chinese export Swatow ware. Gift of Eva Lewis in memory of her husband, Herbert Pickering Lewis Size: 38.1 × 27.9 cm (15 × 11 in.) [h. 42.6 cm (16 3/4 in.) including key] Medium: Tin-glazed earthenware
