Some of the props I made for my Tutu many many years ago!

Top left: The wings. Made from steel gauge wire and organza (for that nice glittery finish). I sewed the edges over the wire, then added a small white felt piece with feathers (not pictured here) to go over the adjoining wire loop between the wings. The whole thing is light enough to be safety pinned onto the tutu.

Bottom left: I took a little artistic liberty to add some detailing to the crown. It's made from craft foam, hot glue, and pearls, and I added a little comb to attach it to her wig.

Right: Tutu's very specifically shaped fan. It was impossible to modify a regular folding fan, and the ones that do work like that don't come in such a design, so I ended up making it from scratch by cutting holes out of really, really thick cardboard. To create the illusion of 'spokes', I painted cast shadow lines along them.

Pendant: Crafted entirely by me from a whole lot of materials such as craft foam, ribbon, wire, resin, nail polish, rings. I wanted it to look as authentic and as pretty as possible, so I decided to forgo using clay (a material I'm far more familiar with), and instead what looked more like jewellery. I made all the gems out of resin, because shop bought gems were likely to be oddly faceted, and because I wanted them all to be size proportionate. The clear blue wings were also made from resin; I'm so glad it worked and is now blue and transparent and pretty ;w;

The gold wire was originally very yellow and gaudy (as seen in the first pic), so I sprayed it over with a warmer gold and then painstakingly began to cut and bend them into shape, sanding the edges so they wouldn't cut my poor Tutu's skin when she wore it. I've never done such tiny jewellery work before, so it was difficult and fairly painful to get some of the smaller pieces to do exactly what I wanted (gem hanging at the bottom, I'm looking at you). But I succeeded in the end! o/

The base and others are made from layers of craft foam, with nail polish over to make it glittery and shiny (although it doesn't really show up well in photos), because a flat colour would look too plain next to all the shiny gems. Ribbon is just ribbon. I stared at so many reference pictures and COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT ON EARTH THAT THING WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. It looked like strips of hard metal fastened about her neck at first, but when she took it off at the dramatic-wails-no-Ahiru-WHY episode it fell like soft ribbons. Argh.

Fingon could not take his eyes off his betrothed. Maedhros was dressed in white and gold, practically glowing with happiness. The train of his white robes trailed behind him on the grass, and with each step he took Fingon could see the glint of golden rings on his bare toes. The front of his shirt was cut in a low vee, showing a scandalous amount of skin that Fingon could not wait to trace with his tongue later that evening. His hair was elegantly curled, pinned in such a way that it mimicked the waterfalls of Hithlum in its tumbling rolls, and his fingers and ears dripped with gold jewelry. Upon his breast was a pendant bearing the Star of Fëanor, little red jewels embedded in each of the eight points, and his lips were painted rouge-red, contrasting the glitter of gold dust around his eyes. Fingon wanted to kiss him until he could taste nothing else but the taste of his mouth—but most beautiful of all was his radiant smile, and the light of love in his eyes that was for Fingon alone.

Even in his own beautiful wedding attire, Fingon felt almost naked in comparison to Maedhros’ elegance. He wore a midnight-blue gown studded with little silver stars, and a sheer periwinkle cape draped over his bare brown arms. He had been honored by Queen Míriel’s request to craft his outfit, the surest sign of her approval he could have hoped for, more than making up for Fëanor’s silence, in his mind. On his wrists were several silver bangles, on his hands several rings of Maedhros’ own making, and in his ears delicately spun silver threads intertwined in an intricate, infinite dance. Aredhel had braided his hair with its usual golden ribbons, but she had also woven in sparkling silver wires to accent his other jewelry. Around his neck was a necklace much like the one Maedhros wore, its pendant wrought in shimmering blue metal and bearing the emblem of the blazing sun of Ñolofinwë’s House.

What a pair they made: white and gold, silver and blue, gleaming in the setting Sun. Fingon was sure his own smile was as bright as his beloved’s, and he was so caught up in the glow of Maedhros’ silver eyes that he almost missed the beginning of Finrod’s speech.

The spider trio began fighting the agents and scientists, they managed to knock a few out but cocooned most of them "now to get this kid out of here" Spider-Man said pushing a big red button that said "open chamber." as he pressed it the liquid ran down a drain and they saw the kid more clearly she had S/C skin, Black fading to silver and pastel green hair in a braid, she had on a green T-shirt, black leggings, barefooted, and she was connected to lots of wires with an oxygen mask over her nose and mouth "she's so tiny and fragile." Silk said in sympathy "guys I found her files" Scarlett spider said "Scar, how do you know if those are hers?" Spider-Man asked until Scarlett spider pointed at a name label on the glass chamber saying "experiment Y/N." Silk read out loud "how did I not noticed that?" Spider-Man asked himself as he made his way to the girl now known as Y/N.

She slowly began opening her eyes, The trio was amazed with them one eye was green with a silver outline the other was silver with a green outline but the cool part was her pupils instead of them being rounded they were star shaped, she had a look of curiosity in her mix match eyes then she spoked "hello?" The trio smiled and replied "hello." the three decided to take their mask off but before doing so they webbed the cameras and knocked out guards for safety measures then they took off their mask "I'm Peter and this is MJ and Ned, what's your name?" The girl smiled the most adorable smile they've ever seen and said "Y/N." she got up and they see her run to a metal door with an outside lock, she unlocked the door and they followed her in to see a small room with only a bed with white sheets and a green stuffed bunny on it, a bookcase with books, novels, and manga and a single nightstand with a lab top on top of it.

They see her come out of a changing curtain wearing an oversized pastel green, black, and silver hoodie, a matching horned beanie with Xoxo stitched into it, pastel green and black striped stockings and silver sneakers, she took out four backpacks a legend of Zelda bag, a kingdom hearts bag, a Star Wars bag, and a lord of the rings bag, they packed up her books, novels, manga, her few T-shirts, shorts, socks, jeans, and lab-top with the charger she then grabbed her stuffed bunny and a star shaped pendant with an emerald on it, Peter picked Y/N up (surprised by how light she is) with one of her bags strapped to his shoulder, MJ grabbed another bag, and Ned grabbed the last two then they swung out of their.

When they finally got to their apartment (yes MJ and Ned now live with Peter and May) Aunt May was already there "ahh hey guys how was patrol and who is this little cutie?" She asked "h...hello I'm Y/N" she said shy "you guys must be hungry I brought pizza, I didn't feel like cooking, but before we eat I wanna have a talk with you three, Y/N sweetie you can wash up in the bathroom ok."" the child nodded "explain!" May said crossing her arms the trio took a deep breath and prepared for a lecture Peter went first  "we saw a HYDRA van drive around here.", then Ned went "we followed it to the sewers." then MJ "then we found an underground laboratory in the abandoned underground subway" then all of them "we found her in the lab took out the people and saved her." then all of them said more like screamed "PLEASE DON'T TELL MR STARKS OR THE OTHER AVENGERS." May was surprisingly calm "all right I won't tell but please be carful next time what you three did was dangerous, reckless, and stupid, but I'm proud of you for saving an experiment that could be helpful." May said smiling "but please wash up before eating." the three thanked her "we'd give you a hug but." Peter didn't get to finish as May pushed them to the bathroom "and one of you give Y/N a bath".

After the bath all of them changed into PJ's.

Peter wore Star Wars pj bottoms and a cheesy math pun T-shirt, Ned wore Darth Vader cosplay pjs, MJ wore grey sweatpants and a black T-Shirt, Y/N wore Peter's old Green basketball shorts and his old Star Wars T-shirt that May accidentally shrunk and forgot to throw away, but what worried May was the bandaging she saw on the kids wrist and ankles, May wore one of uncle Ben's T-shirts and black leggings, they ate a good dinner of pizza and watched "the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug", (my favorite chapter in the Hobbit Saga) "This is so badass." Peter said amazed "I can't believe we've been missing out on this." Ned said in awe "great movie choice kiddo." MJ praised ruffling Y/N's head after the movie everyone went to bed.

Throwback to decidedly warmer temperatures! I met up for Buchteln & chill (the sweet dish pictured above) with two of my friends and afterwards we went to goth club "Fledermaus" (literally translates to bat) for dancing. I had lots of fun with my friends ♥

My point of fashion was hearts on that day, and i accessorized accordingly. The Hello Kitty on my shoulder bag is wearing a heart eye patch, I'm wearing red heart ear studs and melting red heart hair pins as well as two heart necklaces - one with a sweet heart and one with an anatomical heart (made by a dear friend of mine). My black lace over-skirt is handmade (I'm wearing thrifted knee-length jersey pants underneath).

DIY Snowflake Panels

over the holidays i made lots of paper snowflakes to decorate our place for a holiday party. after the new year i couldn’t bear to throw away my delicate little friends so i decided to make a snowflake panel (+ pendant light!) out of them. my idea was definitely inspired by tord boontje‘s until dawn curtain. for the snowflakes i raided our recycling bin that was overflowing with junk mail and bills (ick). a little scissor angst perhaps? sure. i turned my credit card bills into something beautiful. paper snowflakes are often deemed “holiday decor”, but i feel the overall pattern of them together on the panel divorces them from that look. and hey, i live in a freezing climate where it’s not going to be warm anytime soon. my philosophy is to embrace it and enjoy its beauty while i can. – sarah

materials needed for snowflake panels:

paper (preferably from your recycle bin) good quality scissors elmers glue white masking tape measuring tape

my two tips for making great snowflakes are to use good quality shears (i actually use kitchen shears. they are sharp and very strong) and try to eliminate a lot of paper. this is what makes them look more interesting. shoot for 40% paper 60% negative space. (or even more!)

1) make an assortment of large, medium and small snowflakes. snowflake tutorial here: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Paper-Snowflake

2) measure your window or determine how large you’d like your panel to be.

3) for the top row line up a straight row of large snowflakes to your desired width. glue the overlapping edges together. this will be the part of the panel that carries the weight so use sturdier/thicker snowflakes. i reinforced the top edge by running a line of white masking tape on the front and back.

4) for the rest of the panel i find it’s best to use a varied/random pattern. to determine where you should put the glue, first lay down your snowflake and look at the parts that will overlap with the other piece. eyeball these spots and dab tiny dots of glue onto the back of the snowflake. press together.

5) use the small and medium sized snowflakes to fill in the gaps between the larger ones.

6) when you’re done you can tie it with string to your curtain rod or simply tack it up with the masking tape.

materials needed:

snow flake panel (about 2 feet long by 2.5 feet wide) compact fluorescent light bulb (DO NOT use an incandescent. CFL’s use less energy and they’re not as hot) pendant light socket 1 sheet of plastic vellum (11″ x 14″) thick gauge wire wire snips pliers clear tape white masking tape twine

1) cut a 2ft piece of wire and bend into a circle. crimp the ends together with the pliers. the circle should be 1 ft in diameter. trim off excess. cut two pieces of wire 1.5 ft in length. fasten into an x shape and twist the edges of the x around the circle.

2) make a cylinder out of the vellum. tape together with clear tape. this will act as a light diffuser.

3) attach pendant light socket cord to cross section of the x shape of the wire by knotting with twine.

4) attach cylinder to the wire with clear tabs of tape.

5) attach the top of your snowflake panel to the edges of your circle with tabs of white masking tape. hang it, plug it in and you’re done. voila!

Chapter Two: Wicked

Dawn fell away; peach flaking off into red, burnt dead skin peeling away from a sunburn. it took everything in her to peel herself away from Viktor. She wanted him safe and yet she desired to throw herself head first into the chaos. Jennifer slipped into the ice filled galvanized metal tub of water. It was ungodly, freezing cold and yet it brought comfort. Shivers and pain brought something to the looming empty darkness. It brought something to the maddening screams of her own voice in her mind. Grasping the ethernet wire between her fingers, jacking it into the port on the side of her head just before she slipped beneath the freezing depths.

The edges of the internet were fringed with smokey lace. Webbing on the outskirts drawing themselves closer to you. Darkness dove into the bitter cold; a bottomless pit. Jenn dove deeper into darkness, the smokey lace outline fading away behind her. Blue cybernetic outline made out shapes around her. A blur of the real thing. A breeze of warmth passed behind her. There was no air here, yet the cyan digital imprint felt warm as it surpassed her. Reaching out, it reminded her of trips to the beach. Fingers reaching out, digging deep into the warm sand only to find cool water hidden deep beneath. The cyan imprint manifested into a light blue fog. Jennifer held her breath, stepping forward into the memory:

A cool, tingling sensation ran down her spine as Jenn leaned back up against the concrete pillar. Pulling her white framed sunglasses up over her nose to rest on top of her head, her eyes fixated on the figure before her. He was in his early forties; his white tank embodied every inch of intoxicating masculinity. It was soaked with sweat from practice. Beads of sweat formed across his forehead, a few strands of black hair clung to the sticky skin. Looking up, he locked eyes with her. Unearthly cyan eyes, skin tightening in the corner, wrinkles exposed. A devilish smirk swept across his lips. Hands were wrapped up with boxing tape, casually he wiped his forehead. Grabbing a can of REAL water, he took a long well deserved swig before climbing out of the ring. Jumping down to the padded floor, he shook his adrenaline off. His bicep and tricep muscles flexed under his skin. "Took you long enough. Was afraid you'd keep me waitin', dollface."

Viktor was sweet with his words. He always had been. They had been dating for four years, she was twenty eight now. Even though he was fourteen years older than her, somehow she brought out the youth in him. Something he always swore died out long ago. Absently, tucking a strand of light auburn hair behind her ear, Jenn smiled. "You said you'd make it worth my while." Stepping forward, Jenn wrapped her arms around Vik's neck. Brown eyes looking through him, so deep into his soul.

"That I did." He chuckled, reaching into the pocket of his red basketball shorts. "I saw this the other day and I immediately thought of you, doll." His hard working, calloused left hand pulled out a silver chain. At the end of it sat a silver anatomical heart pendant. Two small silver hinges clasped together. Not just a pendant but a locket.

"Viktor, I can't-" She began to protest when he held his right index finger to his lips.

"You can. This...this is the closest I'll ever get to giving you the real thing." Without hesitation, he lifted the necklace over her head, letting to settle in the dip of her ivory flesh, in the dip between her small breasts. "Promise me," he whispered, "that no matter what happens, you'll keep it? To be honest, love, it's safer with you than it ever was in my chest."

Her darkness raged through her veins, boiling just beneath the surface of the ice bath. Fear, guilt, self loathing surged through her. Jennifer threw herself from the memory. Her body rocketed up from beneath the water, a force so violent it splashed water onto the floor. Gasping for air, fingers grasping the ethernet cord, Jenn disconnected herself from the web. A well trained netrunner would have been able to control her emotions. She however was damaged. Her skin crawled covered in goosebumps, her body was frigid but her face was hot to the touch. Placing her hands on the cold metal of the galvanized tub, pushing herself out of the ice cold water, she was greeted with a friendly but concerned face. Akira Olszewski, Misty's older sister, had been the owner and bartender of Castle Crimson for the last fifteen years. Her dark green hair swept across her face as she rushed to Jenn's side. "I told you not to enter without my permission." Jenn snapped at her. Stepping out of the tub, Jenn grabbed the black towel that laid across her twin sized bed. She had been staying in this small room for the last eight months. The white walls had been painted a deep midnight blue, speckles with flecks of white and silver paint. They were meant to represent stars in the night sky. The bed, which was a little more than a mattress on wheels, was pushed into a far corner of the room. The sheets were deep royal purple with a black comforter on top. Beside the bed was a single ebony nightstand and a deep red glowing lava lamp on it. The galvanized tub sat in the middle of the room, to the far right was a door leading to a shower, sink, toilet combo.

Fingers stretched towards the ceiling, Jenn stood on the balls of her feet stretching out. Akira leaned back against the closed door that led to the interior part of the club. She pulled out a cigarette, lighting it. She was more relaxed now seeing that Jenn was not in any real danger. "Alex said he heard a splash n when I heard you gasping for air, I deemed it a good reason."

Jenn grabbed her black skort and navy hoodie. Her fingers trailed up across her chest, lingering on the necklace. "A good deed that is forgivable. I'm going out."

"When will you be back?" Akira asked, taking a long drag off her smoke.

"Who knows." Jenn remarked, pushing herself past Akira and out into the center of the jet black club. To the naked untrained eye, the room was in complete darkness. But Jenn had taught herself how to navigate through that darkness. Heavy bass music blasted from a speaker hidden somewhere in the ceiling. Many to hide the sounds from downstairs. Tonight, she had her own secrets to hide. Secrets she knew only one person she could expose them to.

One in the morning rolled around sooner than Vik wanted it too. The events of yesterday were swept up in a whirlwind. He had not seen Jennifer's face in over five years. Yet she stood before him in the Esoterica no less than twelve hours prior. He let his hopes up as he often had. As soon as he began to let his walls down, she turned and ran. And he wanted to know why. There was a darkness that was lingering in her eyes. A darkness that he had never seen before. It loomed over her, a giant rain cloud. The weather hasn't transitioned to fall here yet, but the stores are rolling out Halloween stuff and pumpkin spice treats already 🎃

My wardrobe hasn't really rotated much in the last few years, since I've been stuck at home for 4 years now, with the pandemic hitting about 1.5 years into that. I don't spend a lot of time outside anymore and tend to dress according to indoor conditions. Also, I've never been one to change the colours of my clothes according to the seasons, I just wear whatever colours I feel like at that moment.

However, I did recently go to some outdoor drag shows and was able to dress for hot weather! I have a hard time finding shorts I like, so I usually wear short skirts or short dresses to stay cool. Due to EDS, I have venous insufficiency, where the veins in my legs struggle to pump blood back to my heart, which means I need to wear compression socks in the heat, but I'm still on the search for some that don't look awkward on their own (they're sheer so they don't quite look like socks, but they're knee-high so they don't look like stockings, either), so I always cover them with either knee-high socks or full-length leggings. I got new glasses a few months ago and I always get two pairs at a time, one pair that's colourful and one that matches all my outfits.

When I went to see Ilona Verley, I wore my yellow Pikachu shirt and a skirt from Rancid Yogurt that I can't find the product photo for, but it has the same print as these leggings:

For accessories, I brought my tiny pink backpack, I wore a necklace that's silver with white gems on a star-shaped pendant, I had grey socks with bows on the outer sides, I had a light yellow floral-printed bow in my hair, and my mask was a pastel rainbow gradient. My shoes were what I usually wear, black Converse high-tops with white rubber and white stitching, since I like how they look, it's easy to find another pair whenever old ones need to be replaced, and the high tops are very supportive for hypermobile ankles. The makeup I wore was pink eyeshadow, pink lipstick, and pink glitter. I wore my new glasses that are yellow squiggles throughout clear plastic.

When I saw Saltina Shaker, I had 4 different plaids in my outfit in the form of a skirt that was black and white plaid, a hair bow that was a different black and white plaid, a mask that was red and black plaid, and a flannel shirt that was another type of red and black plaid. Under the flannel shirt, I was wearing the shirt I got at a Green Day concert that's black and white with a design of an American flag where the stripes are made of barbed wire. I'm not completely sure what accessories I had for this one, but I know I had socks that looked like skeleton legs, and I think I may have been wearing my ring that's silver with a grey gem and/or the black and red Green Day bracelet that I'd bought matching ones of for myself and my pen pal from grade 11 French class. I had the same pink backpack as when I saw Ilona, but I didn't have a bag that was fun and also matched this outfit, so I just went with the backpack. My makeup was red eyeshadow, red lipstick, and gold glitter. I wore my other new glasses that are transparent grey with a beveled look; I call them my crystal glasses because they look kinda like gems.

My physical health is finally getting better, so hopefully I can go outside and wear fun outfits more often again :)
