I always wondered what you think Arven does in his free time. Like sure he has mabosstif and he’s a great cook, but does he have other hobbies, would he be open to learning some of his friends or s/o’s?
It's tricky I think to write a fic based on s/o's hobbies for reader inserts, BUT fwiw i do think this sweet boy would be willing to give a lot of things a try.
In terms of hobbies he picks up, I think it's important to note that he decides in the story to pursue cooking full time as a career and to become a chef, so cooking becomes more than just a hobby to him.
I think he might try to pick up some tangential skills related to cooking and preparing healthy and tasty food, just on his own. So like, while I don't think he'd be one for fad diets in a sense of him going entirely Paleo or keto or whole30 or vegan or anything like that (especially not for health reasons), I think he'd have fun trying different recipes and sampling meals of different diet styles. Like he would never be an almond mom kinda guy, but I could definitely see him, say, trying keto for a few days just to say he's done it. I think he'd also become interested in the field of nutrition and science in that regard (which would give him a major respect for foods of all kinds!).
I think he could also probably become interested in gardening and growing his own herbs and vegetables.
But even then those hobbies are related to his work. He needs something away from that for himself to decompress.
Personally, I imagine he'd be privately interested in art and literature. He's in the humanities track at the academy, so I think this is something he probably chose for himself.
I don't think he'd be much of an artist or a writer, but I think he could appreciate and analyze elements, ya know? Like he can dig into a book of poetry. Or maybe he likes fantasy novels (cough like his parents liked the scarlet/violet book cough). I think he would be a neat person to go to an art museum with because he'd have opinions on the different pieces and could give thoughtful explanations on what he does or doesn't like about them.
But between the cooking, pokemon training, and all the camping/hiking/picnicking he does, I think any other hobbies he picks up would be fairly relaxed. Boy can't be going non-stop, ya know?

Lately I've done some cooking because surprisingly you can get tired of takeout. It takes a while but it happens! Also, and I saw this in my own mom (but didn't realize it), cooking is a little slice of me time... I listen to my silly little podcasts, I don't have the baby on me (usually), and I'm not trying to do 18 other things.
Lemon Chicken Piccata. YUM. Very tender chicken! Paired with whole-wheat pasta tossed in olive oil with spinach and halved cherry tomatoes.
Slow Cooker Turkey White Bean Chili. This was pretty bland (even for me!)—next time I would season the meat. I also think slow-cooker recipes should have a warning label if you have to cook something before you put it in a slow cooker (the turkey and the onions/ peppers in this case). It adds a degree of difficulty! I did feel quite pleased with myself when I was chucking everything in while tending to a fussy bebe and then again at the end of the day when it was done.
No Bake Lactation Cookies. Now listen, do I think these lactation products work? I have my doubts based on personal experience. Will I keep trying them? Yes. Were these delicious? Also yes.
Caprese Chicken Skillet. This is from a cookbook called Well Plated I just ordered off Instagram. I left the chicken on too long but that was my mistake. High potential for a redo, love all things Caprese. (I just realized I have one of those clear cookbook holder doodads, yet I pulled this recipe off the Internet and cooked from that. My last 2 brain cells were not cooperating on that one!)
Chocolate Lactation Smoothie. See above re my reservations about whether these work or not. This wasn't particularly delicious or satisfying so I will continue hacking smoothies together my own way. We just got a sweet new blender so there will be more smoothies ahead.
Curry Chicken Salad. My ongoing quest to recreate this one discontinued Whole Foods wrap. This one was pretty close! I made it into open-face sandwiches with whole-wheat English muffins. Left out the raisins because I didn't want it to be too sweet. (It's listed as Whole30 although I didn't pay too much attention to the requirements because I'm not doing that.)
Tuscan White Bean Pasta. Doubled the garlic but still found this kind of bland? It was solid and hearty but just missing some excitement. Will probably redo.
Salted Chocolate Tart with Kettle Chip Crust. Another recreation, this one of a Stephanie Izard dessert I love and can't get any more. This was so delicious and honestly fun to put together (feeding the potato chips into the food processor was a real novelty). I'd never made ganache before and now I'm scared at how easy it is. My crust didn't hold together so great so next time I will work on that. Will redo and maybe add peanut butter ganache???

This Slow Cooker Lemon Chicken recipe is great for people on a Whole30, paleo, or low-carb diet because it is full of flavor. It's a healthy and filling meal because the chicken is juicy and has lemon and herbs that smell good in it.
Ingredients: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. 1/4 cup chicken broth. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 2 lemons, juiced and zested. 1 teaspoon dried oregano. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme. Salt and pepper, to taste. Fresh parsley, for garnish.
Instructions: Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker. In a small bowl, mix together chicken broth, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. Pour the mixture over the chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!

A delicious and healthy Paleo and Whole30 recipe featuring spicy pork meatballs served over sesame zucchini noodles, all coated in a flavorful sesame sauce.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground pork. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1/4 cup almond flour. 1 egg. 1 tsp ginger, minced. 1 tsp red pepper flakes. 2 tbsp coconut aminos. 1 tbsp olive oil. 4 zucchini, spiralized into noodles. 1/4 cup sesame oil. 2 tbsp coconut aminos. 2 tbsp tahini. 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar. 1 tsp sesame seeds. Salt and pepper to taste. Chopped green onions and cilantro for garnish.
Instructions: Ground pork, minced garlic, almond flour, egg, minced ginger, red pepper flakes, and coconut aminos should all be combined in a bowl. Stir thoroughly and shape into meatballs. In a skillet set over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. After adding the pork meatballs, cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until browned and thoroughly cooked. Take off the heat and place aside. To make the dipping sauce for the noodles, combine sesame oil, coconut aminos, tahini, apple cider vinegar, sesame seeds, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl. Spiralized zucchini noodles should be added to the same skillet as the meatballs and cooked for two to three minutes, or until they start to soften. After adding the sesame sauce, toss the zucchini noodles to ensure even coating. Cook for a further two minutes, or until thoroughly heated. Top the sesame noodles with the hot pork meatballs. Add chopped cilantro and green onions as garnish. Savor the spicy pork meatballs and sesame noodles that are both Whole30 and Paleo compliant!

A flavorful Paleo, Whole30, and low-carb dish featuring tender herbed chicken paired with apple-infused cauliflower rice. This recipe is packed with herbs and fresh flavors, making it a satisfying and healthy meal option.
Ingredients: 4 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 2 teaspoons dried thyme. 2 teaspoons dried rosemary. Salt and pepper to taste. 1 head cauliflower, grated or processed into rice-like texture. 2 apples, diced. 2 tablespoons ghee or clarified butter. 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley. 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro. 2 cloves garlic, minced. Juice of 1 lemon.
Instructions: Preheat oven to 375F 190C. In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Rub this mixture over the chicken breasts. Place chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until cooked through. While the chicken is baking, heat ghee or clarified butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and saut until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add grated cauliflower rice and diced apples to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cauliflower rice is tender. Stir in chopped parsley, chopped cilantro, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the herbed chicken alongside the apple cauliflower rice. Enjoy!
