Thinking about a more modern beastars-style AU. Dabi isn't considered desirable in traditional rabbit circles after being badly burned as a child and ends up out on the streets. Eventually, he ends up with a job in a sketchy "host club" that is actually an illegal brothel that boasts that it can fulfill every fantasy and his scars caught the owner's attention. He doesn't have anywhere else to go and ends up working there.

It's a pretty shit situation, but the bartender is really sweet... you know, for a Predator.

Toga, a runaway who is like, living in the walls. Everyone knows Twice snuck her in once to get something to eat and then she never left and no one will kick her out, but it's very clear from how the white wolf bartender snarls at anyone who comes near her that she's off-limits

I love it when you’re writing something on tumblr and you hit 300 words and when you go to save it in drafts it goes “oopsies! couldn’t save any of it! fuck you!”

And then you have to go back and TRY to rewrite 300 words from poor memory skills alone.

Whenever I think of AU's or stories with a Jay ship, I always end having a caste system relationship with Jay always being poor or working a low-paying job and the other guy has a good job or is from a good family.

In the nearly seven years I’ve been at my current job I’ve had at least as many (if not more; I’ve lost track) phone-customers double check that I was indeed a person and not a recording. 

My “script” for answering the phone: “Thank you for calling [redacted]. This is [redacted], how may I help you?”

To which, I’ve received responses such as:

Are-? Are you a person?

Operator.

Are you real?

Is this a recording or a real person?

[my name], are you an actual person?

*proceeds to leave a “voice mail message” complete with a call-back number rambled off too fast for me to interject or jot down the number before she hung up*

Responses after I’ve confirmed I am indeed a real person and NOT a recording have been (not all inclusive):

Oh, wow! That was very professional sounding!

That sounds so well-practiced.

You should look into doing voice acting for recordings. (I don’t know how I feel about this one -_- )

At first I thought that maybe the customer(s) just weren’t paying attention and were used to companies having automations pick up instead of actual people. When it happened the third or fourth time, I found the whole thing kinda funny and quirky. Especially since the vast majority of our phone-customers seem to know that I am indeed a human being and not a recording. I mean, it averages about one or two customers per year vs the hundreds of other customers annually. Then, me being mistaken for a recording became a running gag at work. Now, it just feels a bit.... concerning???

My coworkers use the same “script” to answer the phone, but none of them have ever had the same issue. Friends have teased that my cadence must throw people off, so I’ve tried switching it up, but it keeps happening. Also, I’ve been answering work phone calls for the various jobs I’ve worked at for decades now. All of which have more-or-less the same phone-answering “script” as I use now, and yet this job is the only one where I’ve been confused for a recording.

Am I just failing the Turing Test??? Am I one of those androids who don’t realize they’re an android????
